Here are my Yankees news and notes from yesterday. The Yankees found out that Nick Johnson does what he does best, stays injured. He is going to undergo wrist surgery today and can't hold a bat for 4-6 weeks. If you see him it will be in August. The Yankees were playing basically with a two man bench last night with Swisher and Posada active but not able to play. Hopefully they can get these guys healthy soon and be at full strength.
Yankees open short series in the Bronx with the Red Sox Breaking News WorldNewsVine
The Yankees and Red Sox will begin a two game series tonight at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees come into tonight in second place in the AL East behind the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees have the second best record in baseball. The Red Sox come into town as a 500 team in fourth place so it doesn't have the same juice as usual but is still Yanks/Sox. Here are the pitching matchups and it will be interesting to see if the Red Sox can do some damage and turn their season around or will they fall further behind in the AL East.
Tonight-Phil Hughes vs. Daisuke Matsuzaka
Tomorrow-CC Sabathia vs. Josh Beckett
I am going to say the Yankees take both games and send the Red Sox away licking thier wounds.
