New York Mets defeat the Chicago White Sox in extra innings


The New York Mets defeated the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 5-2.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched great.  Amed Rosario had four hits to lead the offense and Michael Conforto added three hits. 

Syndergaard pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up five hits and an unearned run.  He walked one and struck out 11.  Justin Wilson pitched to one batter and gave up a hit, Seth Lugo faced two batters and got them both out and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a run, two walks and he struck out two.  Diaz blew his fifth save of the season.  Robert Gsellman earned his second win of the season pitching two perfect innings with two strikeouts. 

Reynaldo Lopez pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with four walks and six strikeouts.  Jace Fry pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Evan Marshall pitched two innings giving up a hit and Aaron Bummer pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Alex Colome pitched an inning with a strikeout, Jose Ruiz pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and he lost his second game of the season and  Josh Osich pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout. 

Jeff McNeil had two hits and two RBI, Conforto had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Pete Alonso had two hits and drew a walk.  Robinson Cano had an RBI, J.D. Davis drew a walk and Todd Frazier had a hit and drew a walk.  Rosario had four hits and Tomas Nido had an RBI.  Conforto hit a double, McNeil and Conforto each hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-13 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base, Frazier and McNeil each committed an error.  Leury Garcia had a hit, John Jay had ah it and Ryan Goins had a hit and drew a walk.  Tim Anderson had an RBI, Yolmer Sanchez had two hits and drew two walks and Adam Engel had a hit.  Goins hit a double and the White Sox were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Sanchez and Garcia each had a stolen base.  Garcia committed an error. 

In the second Nido hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Cano hit an RBI ground out to push the lead to 2-0.  In the sixth Abreu reached on a fielding error and a run scored to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the ninth Anderson hit a sac fly to tie the score and the game went into extra innings.  In the 11th McNeil hit a two-run homerun and Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 5-2 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two on Wednesday. 


New York Yankees defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks and earn split of series


The New York Yankees defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched better but he didn’t last long.  The Yankees bullpen pitched pretty well and Mike Tauchman led the offense with two hits and two RBI. 

Tanaka pitched 4+ innings giving up five hits and two runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run and a walk, Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Adam Ottavino picked up his fourth win of the season pitching a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts.  Zack Britton pitched a perfect inning, Nestor Cortes Jr. gave up a hit and a run without recording an out and Aroldis Chapman picked up his 27th save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout.

Zack Greinke pitched five innings giving up two hits and two runs with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Yoan Lopez pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts, Andrew Chafin pitched giving up a hit and a run without recording an out and Yoshihisa Hirano pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs and he took his fifth loss of the season and had his third blown save.  T.J. McFarland pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Aaron Judge had a hit, Edwin Encarnacion had a hit and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had an RBI and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI, Gio Urshela had a hit and Cameron Maybin had a hit and an RBI.  Tauchman had two hits and two RBI, Austin Romine had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Urshela, Tauchman and Torres each hit a double and Tauchman and Romine each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Hicks committed an error and Maybin had an outfield assist. 

Jarrod Dyson had a hit, Adam Jones drew a walk and Wilmer Flores had two hits.  Eduardo Escobar had an RBI, David Peralta had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Christian Walker drew three walks.  Jake Lamb had an RBI, Alex Avila had a hit and drew a walk and Tim Locastro had two hits and an RBI.  Locastro and Peralta each hit a double and Locastro hit a homerun.  The Diamondbacks were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 

In the second Tauchman hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Escobar lined into a force out and a run scored cutting the lead to 2-1.  Lamb hit a sac fly and another run scored on an error to give the Diamondbacks a 3-2 lead.  In the seventh Romine hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees back the lead at 4-3.  In the eighth Gregorius hit an RBI ground out to make it a 5-3 game, Torres hit an RBI double and Maybin hit an RBI single to push the lead to 7-3.  In the ninth Locastro hit a solo homerun and Peralta hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 7-5 but that would be the final score.  The two teams split the brief two-game series and the Yankees will have the day off and then begin a four-game series with the Boston Red Sox on Friday night. 

New York Yankees get doubled up by the Arizona Diamondbacks


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-2.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Edwin Encarnacion and Gio Urshela each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Happ pitched six innings giving up eight hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  He took his sixth loss of the season and Luis Cessa pitched three innings giving up three hits and a run. 

Taylor Clarke pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and an unearned run.  He walked two and struck out six and won his fourth game of the season.  Yoshihisa Hirano pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Yoan Lopez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Andrew Chafin faced a batter and got him out and Archie Bradley picked up his first save of the season pitching 1 1/3 perfect innings. 

Aaron Judge drew a walk, Encarnacion had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Tyler Wade had a hit and an RBI.  Didi Gregorius drew a walk, Urshela had two hits and Encarnacion hit a double and Wade hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

David Peralta had a hit, Eduardo Escobar had a hit and Christian Walker had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Adam Jones had two hits and an RBI, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Nick Ahmed had a hit and an RBI.  Jake Lamb had a hit, Carson Kelly had two hits and an RBI and Jones hit a double.  Walker and Kelly each hit a homerun and the Diamondbacks were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Jones committed an error. 

In the first Jones hit a sac fly to give the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Walker hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  Ahmed hit an RBI single to make it a 3-0 game.  In the sixth Encarnacion hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 3-1 and in the seventh Kelly hit a solo homerun to put the lead back up to 4-1.  In the bottom of the eighth Wade hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-2 and that would be the final score. 
The two teams will play the second and final game of the series on Wednesday afternoon.  The Yankees will be off on Thursday then open a four-game series with the Boston Red Sox on Friday night at home

New York Mets defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates and sweep three-game series


The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 8-7.   Jason Vargas started for the Mets and pitched well.  J.D. Davis had two hits to lead the offense. 

Vargas won his sixth game of the season pitching 5 2/3 innings givAaing up six hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Seth Lugo pitched 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts, Justin Wilson pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Tyler Bashlor pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk.  Edwin Diaz pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and he saved his 23rd game of the season. 

Chris Archer pitched five innings giving up five hits and six runs with five of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out four and lost his eighth game of the season.  Francisco Liriano pitched an inning giving up two hits and two unearned runs, Michael Feliz pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Keone Kela pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two. 

Aaron Altherr had a hit and an RBI, Michael Conforto had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Pete Alonso had an RBI and drew two walks.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and drew a walk, Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI and Davis had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI and Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit.  Hechavarria hit a double, Conforto hit a homerun and the Mets were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Davis had a stolen base.  Conforto committed an error. 

Kevin Newman drew a walk, Bryan Reynolds had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Starling Marte had two hits.  Jose Osuna had a hit and two RBI, Melky Cabrera had a hit and an RBI and Adam Frazier had a hit and drew a walk.  Jacob Stallings had two hits and an RBI, Archer had a hit and drew a walk and Colin Moran drew a walk.  Cabrera hti a double and Stallings, Reynolds and Osuna each hit a homerun.  The Pirates were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Marte had a stolen base and Kang, Osuna and Marte each committed an error. 

In the first Conforto hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  Frazier hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  Davis hit an RBI single and it was 4-0, Rosario hit an RBI single and the lead was 5-0.  Altherr hit a sac fly and the lead was 6-0.  In the third Stallings hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-1.  In the fourth Stallings hit an RBI single and the lead was 6-2.  In the fifth Cabrera hit an RBI double to make it 6-3.  Conforto reached on a error and the lead was up to 7-3.  Alonso hit into a force out and the lead was 8-3.  In the ninth Reynolds hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 8-5.  Osuna hit a two-run homerun and the lead was 8-7 but that was the final score. 

The Mets swept the three-game series and will head to Chicago to take on the White Sox on Tuesday night. 




New York Mets shutout the Pittsburgh Pirates


The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched great.  J.D. Davis had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense. 

Matz pitched a complete game shutout giving up five hits and he struck out seven with no walks.  Matz won his sixth game of the season. 

Trevor Williams pitched seven innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Williams lost his fourth game of the season.  Kyle Crick pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Michael Conforto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Todd Frazier had a hit and Davis had two hits and two RBI.  Amed Rosario drew a walk and Davis hit a double.  Conforto and Davis each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Frazier committed an error and Ramos had a passed ball. 

Kevin Newman had two hits, Melky Cabrera had a hit and Bryan Reynolds had a hit.  Jacob Stallings had a hit, Cabrera and Stallings each hit a double and the Pirates were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the sixth Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Davis hit a two-run homerun to push the Mets lead to 3-0 and that would be the final score. 

The Mets will go for the three-game sweep on Sunday.

The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York.  Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets bullpen also pitched well and Jeff McNeil had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with seven strikeouts.  He won his seventh game of the season.  Luis Avilan pitched 2/3 of an inning, Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Seth Lugo earned his first save of the season pitching an inning and striking out one. 

Dario Agrazal pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and five runs with a strikeout.  He lost his first game of the season.  Michael Feliz pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run, Keone Kela pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Chris Stratton pitched an inning with strikeouts. 

McNeil had a hit and three RBI, Pete Alonso had a hit and an RBI and Wilson Ramos had a hit and an RBI.  Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI, Amed Rosario had a hit and Juan Lagares had a hit.  Rosario hit a triple  and McNeil, Frazier, Alonso and Ramos each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-1 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base.  Rosario and Alonso each committed an error. 

Melky Cabrera had a hit, Adam Frazier had two hits and two RBI and Josh Bell had two hits.  Bryan Reynolds had a hit, Colin Moran had a hit and an RBI and Jung Ho Kang drew a walk.  Jose Osuna had a hit, Frazier hit a double and a homerun.  The Pirates were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the second Moran hit an RBI single to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead.  In the third McNeil hit a three-run homerun to give the Mets a 3-1 lead.  In the fifth Frazier hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 4-1.  In the sixth A. Frazier hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the bottom of the sixth Alonso hit a solo homerun making it 5-3 and Ramos hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 6-3 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday. 




New York Yankees salvage final game of series in Boston


The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 9-6.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Edwin Encarnacion, Gio Urshela and Cameron Maybin each had two hits to lead the offense. 

German pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  German won his 13th game of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts, Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning givin gup two hits and Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out two. 

Chris Sale pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and six runs with three walks and seven strikeouts and he took his tenth loss of the season.  Colten Brewer pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Darwinzon Hernandez pitched an inning giving up a hit and two unearned runs with two walks and two strikeouts and Marcus Walden pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk.  Heath Hembree pitched an inning. 

Aaron Hicks drew two walks, Encarnacion had two hits and Luke Voit drew two walks.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Urshela had two hits and an RBI and Maybin had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Austin Romine had a hit and two RBI, Urshela hit two doubles and Encarnacion and Maybin each hit a double.  Romine and Gregorius each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Maybin was picked off and Torres and Gregorius each committed an error.  Romine had a passed ball. 

Mookie Betts had an RBI and drew a walk, Rafael Devers had a hit and drew a walk and Xander Bogaerts had three hits.  J.D. Martinez had an RBI and drew a walk, Andrew Benintendi had three hits and four RBI and Mitch Moreland had a hit.  Sam Travis drew a walk, Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and Christian Vasquez had a hit.  Bogaerts and Devers each hit a double and Benintendi hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Devers, Bradley Jr. and Holt each committed an error.  Brewer had a pickoff. 

In the third Romine hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Gregorius hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Benintendi hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the sixth Urshela hit an RBI double to push the lead to 5-2 and Maybin hit an RBI single making it 6-2.  In the sixth Martinez hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 6-3.  In the seventh Gregorius hit a sac fly and a run scored on an error to make it 8-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Betts hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 8-4.  In the eighth a wild pitch made it 9-4 and Benintendi hit a two-run single in the ninth to cut the lead to 9-6 but that would be the final score. 
The Yankees were able to salvage one of the four games and will be off on Monday before beginning a brief two-game set at home with the Arizona Dia

New York Yankees lose third straight to the Boston Red Sox


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 9-5.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch great.  Gio Urshela led the offense with four hits. 

Sabathia pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up nine hits and five runs with three strikeouts.  Sabathia lost his sixth game of the season.  Chad Green pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with two strikeouts, Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Eduardo Rodriguez pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  He won his 13th game of the season.   Matt Barnes pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out four, Nathan Eovaldi pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts and Brandon Workman pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

In the second Urshela hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Benintendi hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Urshela hit an RBI single to give the Yankees back the lead at 2-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Martinez hit a two-run homerun and the Red Sox grabbed a 3-2 lead.  Chavis hit an RBI single and it was 4-2 Red Sox.  In the fifth Encarnacion hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the bottom of the fifth Bogaerts hit an RBI double to push the lead to 5-3.  In the sixth Holt hit a sac fly to make it 6-3 and Bradley Jr. hit an RBI triple extending the lead to 7-3.  Betts hit a sac fly and it was 8-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Travis hit an RBI single making it 9-3.  In the eighth Higashioka hit a two-run single and the lead was cut to 9-5 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have lost the first three games of the series and will try to salvage the final game on Sunday night.

New York Yankees get beat up by the Boston Red Sox


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 10-5.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched poorly.  The Yankees pen didn’t pitch bad and Mike Tauchman and Austin Romine each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Paxton lost his sixth game of the season pitching four innings and giving up nine hits and seven runs.  He walked none and struck out nine.  David Hale pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs, Adam Ottavino pitched to one batter and struck him out and Zack Britton pitched a perfect inning with a  strikeout. 

Andrew Cashner pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up 10 hits and three runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Cashner won his 10th game of the season.  Marcus Walden pitched to one batter and struck him out, Josh Taylor pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Heath Hembree pitched giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked a batter.  Brandon Workman pitched a perfect inning.

In the first Betts hit a solo homerun and Martinez hit a two-run homerun to give the Red Sox a 3-0 lead.  In the third Betts hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  Martinez hit an RBI triple to extend the lead to 5-0.  In the fourth Betts hit a two-run homerun and it was 7-0 Red Sox.  In the sixth Voit hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Betts hit an RBI double and Devers hit an RBI double to push the lead to 9-1.  In the seventh Romine hit an RBI single and LeMahieu grounded into a double play to score a run and make it 9-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Travis hit an RBI double and in the ninth Romine hit an RBI double and Gregorius hit a sac fly to make it 10-5 which was the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday afternoon.
