New York Mets are shutout by the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-0.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Curtis Granderson led the offense with two hits, they only managed five overall. 

Matz pitched three innings giving up three hits and one unearned run.  He walked none and struck out two and took the loss.  Paul Sewald pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout, Erik Goeddel pitched an inning giving up four hits and three runs with two strikeouts and Tom Gorzelanny pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He struck out one, Cory Burns pitched a perfect inning and Josh Smoker pitched an inning with a walk. 

Granderson had two hits, Patrick Biondi had a hit and Kyle Johnson had a hit.  Amed Rosario had a hit, Matt Reynolds drew a walk and the Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Cespedes and Rosario each committed an error.   

In the first Brian Goodwin hit a sac fly to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Chris Heisey hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  Clint Robinson hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0 and Jose Lobaton hit a sac fly to push it to 4-0.  In the seventh Rafael Bautista hit an RBI single and it was a 5-0 game.  Blake Perkins reached on a fielding error and the score became 6-0 which was the final score. 

The New York Yankees defeat the Detroit Tigers behind Tanaka and the long ball


The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 7-1.   Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he was perfect.  Jacoby Ellsbury and Gary Sanchez each had two hits to lead the offense.  The offense also had three homeruns. 

Tanaka pitched four perfect innings with seven strikeouts and picked up the win.  Bryan Mitchell pitched four innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and J.R. Graham pitched a perfect inning. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Ellsbury had two hits and Sanchez had two hits and three RBI.  Austin Romine had a hit, Matt Holliday had a hit and three RBI and Greg Bird had a hit.  Starlin Castro drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI and Miguel Andujar had a hit.  Ronald Torreyes had a hit, Bird, Romine and Andujar each hit a double.  Sanchez, Holliday and Torres each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Graham committed an error and Ellsbury had an outfield assist. 

In the first Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Dixon Machado hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the fifth Sanchez hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-1.  Holliday hit a three-run homerun and the lead was extended to 6-1 and then in the sixth Torres hit a solo homerun to make it 7-1 which would be the final score.

New York Mets lose to the Houston Astros


The New York Mets lost to the Houston Astros 7-6 on Friday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 7-6.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and he pitched pretty well.  Kevin Kaczmarski and David Thompson each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Harvey took his second loss of the spring pitching three innings and giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Addison Reed pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up six hits and six runs with a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched 1 1/3 innings and he struck out two and Josh Smoker pitched an inning and he struck out one.  Tom Gorzelanny pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Ben Rowen pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Corey Taylor pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and an RBI and Kaczmarski had two hits and an RBI.  Jay Bruce drew a walk, Jayce Boyd had a hit and an RBI and Lucas Duda had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Wilmer Flores drew a walk, Luis Carpio had a hit and an RBI and Brandon Brosher drew a walk.  L.J. Mazzilli had a hit, Thompson had two hits and Kaczmarski, Boyd, Carpio and Thompson each hit a double and Cespedes and Duda each hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the third Reid Brignac hit a solo homerun to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth A.J. Reed hit a solo homerun to push the Astros lead to 2-0.  Derek Fisher hit a two-run single to make it a 4-0 game.  Jake Marisnick hit a sac fly and it was 5-0 Astros.  Colin Moran hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 7-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Cespedes hit a solo homerun to make it a 7-1 game.  In the sixth Duda hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 7-3.  In the bottom of the eighth Boyd hit an RBI double to close to within 7-4.  Carpio hit an RBI double and it was a 7-5 game still in the eighth.  In the ninth Kaczmarski hit an RBI single and the score was 7-6 which would be the final score.   

New York Mets lose to the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Friday afternoon.  The game took place at Champion Stadium in Orlando, Florida and the final score was 5-2.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Juan Lagares and Dominic Smith each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  Marcos Molina pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with two walks and three strikeouts and he took the loss, Chasen Bradford pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and P.J. Conlon pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk.  Kevin McGowan pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Lagares had two hits, Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI and John Mora drew a walk.  Smith had two hits and an RBI, Colby Woodmansee drew a walk and Phillip Evans had a hit.  Wuilmer Becerra had a hit, Kevin Taylor drew a walk and Conforto hit a double and the Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Lagares had a stolen base and Mora was caught stealing.  Evans and Paez each committed an error. 

In the first Conforto hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Smith hit an RBI single still in the first to push the lead to 2-0.  In the second Matt Tuiasosopo hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Brandon Phillips hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the fifth Matt Kemp reached on a fielder’s choice and a run scored to give the Braves a 3-2 lead.  Adonis Garcia hit a two-run homerun to extend their lead to 5-2 which was the final game.   

The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday afternoon.  The game took place at Spectrum Field in Clearwater, Florida and the final score was 5-0.  Chad Green started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Chance Adams and Justus Sheffield also pitched well.  Greg Bird had two hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched two innings giving up two hits and no runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Green got the win.  Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a hit, Adams pitched an inning giving up a hit and three walks with three strikeouts and Jon Niese pitched a perfect inning.  Sheffield pitched two innings giving up three hits and two walks with three strikeouts and Matt Marsh pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

Bird had two hits, Matt Holliday drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit and three RBI.  Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI, Rob Refsnyder drew a walk and Clint Frazier had a hit.  Tyler Wade had a hit, Bird and Wade each hit a double and Headley and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Castro committed an error and Kyle Higashioka had a passed ball. 

In the first Headley hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the fifth Sanchez reached on a fielding error and a run scored to make it 4-0.  In the sixth Judge hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-0 which would be the final score.

New York Mets and Detroit Tigers play to a tie


The New York Mets tied with the Detroit Tigers on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie and the final score was 5-5.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched great.  Asdrubal Cabrera and Yoenis Cespedes each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched four innings giving up two hits and no runs with four strikeouts.  Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning and had a strikeout, Ben Rowen pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Rafael Montero pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts.  Erik Goeddel pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout, Chasen Bradford pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with a couple of strikeouts and Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Luis Guillorme had a hit, Cabrera had two hits and Cespedes had two hits and two RBI.  Kevin Kaczmarski had a hit, Wuilmer Becerra had a hit and Tomas Nido had a hit.  Champ Stuart had a hit and two RBI and John Mora had a hit and an RBI.  Becerra hit a double and Mora a triple.  Stuart and Cespedes each hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Cabrera was caught stealing and Guillorme committed an error.  Nido had a pickoff. 

In the third Stuart hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the third Cespedes hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  In the sixth Nicholas Castellanos hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the seventh Dominic Ficociello hit a solo homerun and it was 4-2.  A wild pitch cut the lead to 4-3 still in the seventh.  In the eighth Grayson Greiner hit an RBI double and the game was tied at four.  In the ninth Jacoby Jones hit a solo homerun to give the Tigers a 5-4 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth Mora hit an RBI triple to tie the game at five and that was how it would end.  The teams did not play extra innings.   

New York Yankees defeat the Atlanta Braves


The New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Champion Stadium in Orlando, Florida and the final score was 8-7.  Michael Pineda started and after a rough start pitched well.  Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits and two steals to lead the offense. 

Pineda pitched three innings giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout.  Ben Heller pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Chasen Shreve picked up the win pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and three runs with two walks.  Joe Mantiply pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jason Gurka earned the save pitching an inning and giving up a hit and two runs with a walk. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Dustin Fowler had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Ellsbury had three hits.  Francisco Diaz had a hit and two RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Clint Frazier had an RBI.  Wilken Castillo drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit and Ji-Man Choi  had a hit.  Austin Romine had a hit and an RBI, Kyle Higashioka drew a walk and Pete Kozma drew a walk.  Tyler Wade had two hits, Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI and Ruben Tejada had two hits and an RBI.  Torres hit a double, Hicks and Fowler hit a triple and Gardner hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-18 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Ellsbury had two stolen bases. 

In the first Gardner hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Johan Camargo hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  Matt Kemp hit an RBI double to give the Braves a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Romine hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Tejada hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead and Fowler drew an RBI walk to extend the lead to 4-2.  Diaz hit a two run single still in the sixth to push the lead to 6-2.  Frazier hit an RBI ground out and it was 7-2 still in the sixth.  In the bottom of the sixth Matt Tuiasosopo hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 7-5.  In the seventh Torres hit an RBI double and it was 8-5 Yankees.  In the ninth Tuiasosopo hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 8-7 but that would be the final score.   

The New York Mets defeat the Boston Red Sox


The New York Mets defeated the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 8-7.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched well.  Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and a strikeout.  P.J. Conlon pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and four runs with two walks, Adam Wilk won the game pitching an inning and giving up a walk and Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Jerry Blevins pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Tom Gorzelanny pitched an inning with a couple of strikeouts and Corey Taylor pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and he earned the save. 

Granderson had two hits, Yoenis Cespedes drew two walks and Neil Walker had a hit and three RBI with a walk.  Luis Carpio had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and Kevin Kaczmarski had a hit.  Bruce had two hits and three RBI, Lucas Duda had a hit and Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit, L.J. Mazzilli had a hit and David Thompson had a hit.  Mazzilli, Duda, Granderson, Bruce, d’Arnaud and Walker each hit a double.  Bruce hit a homerun and the Mets were 5-17 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Walker was caught stealing, d’Arnaud committed an error. 

In the first a run scored on a runner being caught stealing at second.  In the fourth Rusney Castillo hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Bryce Bentz hit an RBI ground out to give the Red Sox a 2-1 lead.  Another run scored on a steal and a throwing error to push the lead to 3-1 still in the fourth.  Marco Hernandez hit an RBI double to make it a 4-1 game.  In the bottom of the fourth Bruce hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-3.  A ground ball double play scored another run to tie the game at four.  In the fifth Bruce hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 5-4 lead.  Walker hit a three run double in the sixth to push the Mets lead to 8-4.  In the seventh Allen Craig hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 8-6 and in the ninth Matt Dominguez hit an RBI single to make it an 8-7 game which would be the final score.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in Florida and the final score was 12-2.  Robert Gsellman started for the Mets and he pitched ok but not great.  The offense had six hits but no one had more than a hit.   

Gsellman pitched two innings giving up five hits and two runs with no walks and a strikeout.  Gsellman took the loss.  Josh Edgin pitched an inning with a strikeout, Logan Taylor pitched an inning giving up three hits and five runs with three of them being earned and he walked two and struck out one.  Kevin McGowan pitched a perfect inning, Sean Gilmartin pitched two innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts and David Roseboom pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts. 

Juan Lagares had an RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Wilmer Flores had a hit.  Blake Tiberi had a hit, Phillip Evans had a hit and Travis Taijeron had a hit and drew a walk.  Tomas Nido had a hit, Tiberi hit a double and Cabrera hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Evans committed an error, Nido had a passed ball and Egin had a pickoff. 

In the first Yulieski Gurriel hit a two-run double to give the Astros a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Cabrera hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the fourth J.D. Davis drew an RBI walk to make it 3-1.  A passed ball made it 4-1 still in the fourth and Jake Marisnick hit a two-run single to make it 6-1.  George Springer hit a sac fly to push the lead to 7-1 still in the fourth.  In the fifth Lagares hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the seventh Teoscar Hernandez hit a solo homerun to make it an 8-2 game.  Colin Moran hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 9-2.  Tyler White hit an RBI single to give Houston a 10-2 lead in the seventh and in the eighth A.J. Reed hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 12-2 which was the final score. 

New York Yankees defeat the Tampa Bay Rays in extra innings


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday afternoon.  The game took place at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 7-6 in ten innings.  CC Sabathia made his first start of the spring and he pitched well, Adam Warren struggled a bit.  Ronald Torreyes, Dustin Fowler and Tyler Wade each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Sabathia pitched two innings giving up two hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out two.  Warren pitched three innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk, Ben Heller pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Domingo German pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with no walks and two strikeouts, Jason Gurka pitched an inning with a strikeout and Brady Lail won the game pitching an inning and giving up two hits and two unearned runs with a strikeout. 

Torreyes had two hits and an RBI, Rob Refsnyder had a hit and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit and two RBI, Matt Holliday had a hit and Greg Bird had a hit.  Chris Carter had a hit and an RBI, Billy McKinney had a hit and Ruben Tejada had an RBI.  Pete Kozma drew a walk, Miguel Andujar had a hit and Rashad Crawford had a hit and an RBI.  Fowler had two hits, Wade had two hits and an RBI and Sanchez, Wade and Crawford each hit a double.  Higashioka hit a homerun and the Yankees were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Diaz committed two errors. 

In the first Carter hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Torreyes hit an RBI single to make it 2-0.  In the fifth Willy Adames hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  Corey Dickerson hit a solo homerun still in the fifth to tie the game at two and in the sixth Adames hit a sac fly to give the Rays a 3-2 lead.  In the seventh Higashioka hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Ryan Brett hit a solo homerun to tie the game at four.  In the tenth Joe McCarthy reached on a fielding error to give the Rays a 5-4 lead and Ryan Brett hit a sac fly to make it 6-4.  In the bottom of the tenth Tejada hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 6-5, Crawford hit an RBI-double to tie the game at six and Wade hit an RBI single to give the Yankees the 7-6 walk-off victory.

New York Mets defeat the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida and the final score was 8-2.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Phillip Evans and Luis Guillorme each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Matz pitched two innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and a strikeout.  Marcos Molina pitched a perfect inning, David Roseboom pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Erik Goeddel pitched an inning with a hit and he struck out one.  Rafael Montero pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts, Chasen Bradford pitched an inning giving up a walk and he got the win and Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  Ben Rowen pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Juan Lagares had a hit, Champ Stuart had a hit and an RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Travis Taijeron had a hit, Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and an RBI and Evans had two hits and an RBI.  Dominic Smith had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Amed Rosario had a hit and L.J. Mazzilli had a hit and two RBI.  Guillorme had two hits and drew a walk, Patrick Biondi drew a walk and Wuilmer Becerra had a hit and drew a walk.  Gene Cone had an RBI and drew two walks, Becerra, Taijeron and Evans each hit a double.  d’Arnaud and Mazzilli each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 5-16 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Lagares, Conforto and Becerra each had a stolen base.  Guillorme and Smith each committed an error. 

In the fourth d’Arnaud hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Giancarlo Stanton hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Evans hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  Smith hit an RBI single to make it 3-1, Mazzilli hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-1.  Stuart hit an RBI single still in the eighth to make it a 6-1 game.  A passed ball pushed the Mets lead to 7-1.  In the bottom of the eighth Moises Sierra hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-2 and in the ninth Cone drew an RBI walk to make it an 8-2 game which would be the final score.   

New York Yankees get trounced by the Pittsburgh Pirates


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at LeCom Park in Bradenton, Florida and the final score was 13-1.  Bryan Mitchell made the start for the Yankees and didn’t pitch too well.  The Yankees offense only managed five hits and no player had more than a hit. 

Mitchell pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with no walks and two strikeouts.  He took the loss.  J.P. Feyereisen pitched 2/3 of an inning walking two and striking out one, Jordan Montgomery pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and Jon Niese pitched a perfect inning.  Evan Rutckyj pitched without recording an out and he gave up three hits and six runs with four of them being earned and he walked two.  J.R. Graham pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and Joe Mantiply pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had an RBI, Tyler Wade had a hit and Starlin Castro had a hit.  Aaron Judge had a hit, Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk and Austin Romine had a hit.  Hicks hit a double and the Yankees were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Andujar committed two errors. 

In the second Austin Meadows hit a two-run double to give the Pirates a 2-0 lead.  Barrett Barnes hit an RBI ground out and it was now 3-0 Pirates.  In the third Ellsbury reached on an error and a run scored to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the third Jordy Mercer hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 4-1.  In the fifth Erich Weiss hit an RBI double, Elias Diaz hit an RBI double and it was 6-1 Pirates.  In the seventh Eury Perez reached on a force attempt error and a run scored to make it a 7-1 game.  Kevin Newman drew an RBI walk, Casey Hughston hit a three-run double and Joey Terdoslavich hit an RBI double and it was 12-1 Pirates.  Weiss hit an RBI single to finish the scoring at 13-1. 

The New York Mets lose a slugfest to the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 14-11.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very well.  Yoenis Cespedes had a couple of hits and Travis Taijeron had four hits. 

Harvey pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Addison Reed pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with a strikeout, Seth Lugo pitched two innings giving up five hits and four runs with three of them being earned and he struck out two and Adam Wilk pitched two innings giving up four hits and two runs with a couple of strikeouts.  Tom Gorzelanny pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Logan Taylor pitched an inning with two walks and he struck out one. 

Champ Stuart drew a walk, Cespedes had two hits and an RBI and Taijeron had four hits.  Jay Bruce had a hit and drew a walk, Patrick Biondi had a hit and drew a walk and Neil Walker had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Matt Reynolds drew two walks, T.J. In the first Cespedes hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Jose Martinez hit a three-run homerun to give the Cardinals a 3-1 lead.  Aledmys Diaz hit an RBI single to push the Cardinals lead to 4-1.  In the third Harrison Bader hit a three run triple to make it a 7-1 lead.  In the fourth Rivera hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 7-2, d’Arnaud hit an RBI double to make it 7-3.  In the fifth Greg Garcia hit an RBI single and Bader hit an RBI single and it was 9-3 Cardinals.  Dexter Fowler hit a two-run double to make it 11-3 Cardinals.  In the fifth Walker drew an RBI walk to cut the lead to 11-4.  In the sixth Patrick Wisdom hit a solo homerun to make it a 12-4 lead for the Cardinals.  Garcia hit an RBI double to push it to 13-4.  In the seventh Rivera hit an RBI single and Becerra hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 13-7.  Guillorme hit a three-run homerun and it was a 13-10 game.  In the eighth Anthony Garcia hit a solo homerun to make it a 14-10 game and in the ninth Taijeron hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 14-11 which would be the final score. 

The New York Yankees defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 3-2.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Aroldis Chapman and Tyler Clippard also pitched well.  Matt Holliday and Pete Kozma each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched three innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out four.  Tommy Layne pitched an inning giving up a hit, Chapman pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Clippard pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Chance Adams pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout.  Adams got the win and Luis Cessa the save as he pitched two innings giving up two hits and an unearned run with two strikeouts. 

Donovan Solano drew a walk, Holliday had two hits and Chris Carter had a hit.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Clint Frazier had a hit.  Kozma had two hits and an RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Holliday hit two doubles and Torres a triple.  The Yankees were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Kozma and Fowler each committed an error.
 
In the fourth A wild pitch scored a run to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Barrett Barnes hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the seventh a wild pitch scored another run and gave the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  Kozma hit an RBI single in the eighth and it was 3-1 Yankees.  In the ninth Christian Kelley hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 3-2 and that was the final score.

New York Mets defeat the Houston Astros


The New York Mets defeated the Houston Astros on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida and the final score was 3-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Brandon Nimmo, Lucas Duda and T.J. Rivera each led the offense with two hits each. 

deGrom pitched two innings giving up no hits or runs and he struck out three.  Conlon pitched two innings walking two, Taylor earned the win pitching an inning and giving up two hits.  Rowen pitched an inning with a strikeout, Sean Gilmartin pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and Bradford pitched a perfect inning.  Sewald pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Nimmo had two hits, Duda had two hits and an RBI and Travis d’Arnaud had a hit.  Rivera had two hits, Gavin Cecchini had a hit and two RBI and Matt Reynolds drew a walk.  Rivera hit two doubles, Duda hit two doubles and Nimmo and Cecchini each hit a double.  The Mets were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Rivera was caught stealing.

New York Mets defeat the Houston Astros

The New York Mets defeated the Houston Astros on Friday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie and the final score was 11-3.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched well.  Yoenis Cespedes, Neil Walker, Brandon Nimmo and Rene Rivera all led the offense with two hits each. 

Syndergaard pitched two innings giving up a hit and no runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Jerry Blevins earned the win pitching an inning and giving up a up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Kevin McGowan pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts and Josh Smoker pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Dominic Smith had a hit and an RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and an RBI and Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI.  Cespedes had two hits, Patrick Biondi had a hit and Walker had two hits and two RBI.  Jay Bruce had a hit and an RBI, Nimmo had two hits and Lucas Duda had a hit and two RBI.  T.J. Rivera had a hit and an RBI, Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk and Wuilmer Becerra drew a walk.  Champ Stuart had a hit and an RBI, Rivera had two hits and Duda, Rivera, Rosario and Stuart each hit a double.  Walker hit a homerun and the Mets were 7-15 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Lagares had an outfield assist. 

In the third Cabrera hit an RBI single giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Bruce hit an RBI single and the lead was extended to 2-0.  Duda hit a two-run double to push the lead to 4-0.  In the fifth Walker hit a two-run homerun and the lead grew to 6-0.  A passed ball allowed another run to score and make it a 7-0 game still in the fifth.  Smith hit an RBI single and the lead was 8-0.  Rosario  hit an RBI double and it was 9-0.  In the sixth Teoscar Hernandez hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 9-1.  In the seventh Jake Marisnick hit a solo homerun to make it a 9-2 game.  Carlos Correa hit a sac fly to cut into the lead further and make it a 9-3 game.  IN the seventh Stuart hit an RBI double and it became a 10-3 game.  In the eighth Rivera hit a sac fly and it was 11-3 Mets which would be the final score.

The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie and the final score was 11-6.  Robert Gsellman started and pitched well for the Mets and Addison Reed and Jeurys Familia also pitched well.  Phillip Evans led the offense with a couple of hits and five RBI. 

Gsellman pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Reed pitched a perfect inning, Familia earned the win pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Tom Gorzelanny pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Erik Goeddel pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and David Roseboom pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs.  Hansel Robles pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and he struck out three.

In the fourth Cespedes hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Walker hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  A wild pitch made it a 4-0 game still in the fourth inning.  In the fifth Derek Dietrich hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the fifth Flores hit an RBI single to make it a 5-1 game and then Evans hit a grand slam to extend the lead to 9-1.  In the seventh Tomas Telis hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 9-2.  Yefri Perez hit an RBI double to make it a 9-3 game.  In the seventh Reynolds hit an RBI double to make it 10-3 and then Evans  hit an RBI single to push it to 11-3.  In the eighth J.T. Riddle hit into a force out and it was 11-4 and then Isaac Galloway hit an RBI single to cut it to 11-5 and Telis hit an RBI single to make it 11-6 which would be the final score.

New York Yankees defeat the Detroit Tigers


The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida and the final score was 11-1.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and he was great.  Aaron Hicks and Billy McKinney each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Pineda pitched two scoreless innings giving up a hit and he struck out five.  Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Chad Green pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Ben Heller pitched 1 1/3 innings and he struck out one.  Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Chasen Shreve pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Giovanny Gallegos pitched an inning with two strikeouts. 

In the third Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the third Castro hit an RBI double and it was 3-0 Yankees.  Hicks hit a two-run homerun in the fourth and it was 5-0 Yankees.  In the fourth Omar Infante hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the fifth Refsnyder drew an RBI walk to push the lead to 6-1.  Sanchez had an RBI walk in the fifth to make it a 7-1 lead.  Donovan Solano hit a two run single to push the lead to 9-1 still in the fifth.  In the sixth Rashad Crawford hit a two run single to make it 11-1 and that was the final score.   

The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday afternoon.  The game took place at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, Florida and the final score was 3-2.  Luis Severino started and pitched ok and Aaron Judge had two hits to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Johnny Barbato pitched two innings and he struck out three, J.R. Graham pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out one and Evan Rutckyj pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit.  Brady Lail pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and he struck out one and Joe Mantiply pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Judge had two hits and Chris Carter drew a walk.  Wilken Castillo had a hit, Austin Romine had a hit and Francisco Diaz had a hit.  Rob Refsnyder drew a walk, Ji-Man Choi had a hit and two RBI and Diaz hit a double.  The Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Bautista hit a two-run homerun to give the Jays a 2-0 lead.  In the ninth Choi hit a two run single to tie the game at two.  In the bottom of the ninth Ryan McBroom hit a solo homerun to give the Jays a 3-2 win. 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 8-1.  Adam Warren started for the Yankees and he pitched pretty well.  Aroldis Chapman made his first appearance of the spring and he looked great.  Billy McKinney and Gary Sanchez each had two hits. 

Warren pitched three innings giving up one hit and one run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Chapman got the win pitching an inning with two strikeouts, Tyler Clippard pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Tommy Layne pitched a perfect inning.  Dietrich Enns pitched two innings giving up a walk and striking out one and Giovanny Gallegos pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit, McKinney had two hits and three RBI and Sanchez had two hits and an RBI.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit and drew a walk, Greg Bird had a hit and two RBI and Matt Holliday had a hit and an RBI.  Starlin Castro had a hit, Jorge Mateo had a hit and an RBI and Miguel Andujar had a hit.  Tyler Wade had a hit, Gleyber Torres had a hit, Ruben Tejada had a hit and Sanchez, Higashioka, Mateo and McKinney each hit a double.  Holliday, Bird and McKinney each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Mateo had a stolen base and Tejada committed an error.
