The New York Mets lose to the Milwaukee Brewers

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night.  The game took place at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the final score was 5-2.  Jon Niese started and was ok, Carlos Torres was bad in relief.  Curtis Granderson, Daniel Murphy and Chris Young each had two hits. 

Niese pitched five innings and gave up five hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out four.  Torres pitched three innings and gave up three hits and two runs with three strikeouts. 

Wily Peralta pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Peralta won his 12th game of the season.  Zach Duke pitched an inning walking one and struck out three, Jeremy Jeffress faced one batter and retired him and Will Smith pitched an inning and gave up a hit and struck out three.  Francisco Rodriguez saved his 30th game of the season pitching an inning and gave up a hit with two strikeouts. 

Granderson had two hits and an RBI, Daniel Murphy had two hits and drew a walk and David Wright drew a walk.  Lucas Duda had a hit and an RBI, C. Young had two hits and drew a walk and Niese drew a walk.  Eric Young Jr. had a hit, Granderson and Young Jr. each hit a double and C. Young hit two doubles.  Granderson hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Wright had a stolen base. 

Carlos Gomez had a hit, Jonathan  LuCroy had a hit and an RBI and Ryan Braun had two hits and an RBI.  Rickie Weeks had a hit and drew a walk, Khalil Davis had a hit and an RBI and Mark Reynolds had two hits and an RBI.  Jean Segura drew a walk, LuCroy and Davis each hit a double.  Reynolds hit a homerun and the Brewers were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Segura had a stolen base. 

In the third Duda hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Granderson hit a solo homerun in the fifth to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth a run scored on a wild pitch, LuCroy hit an RBI double and Braun hit an RBI single to make it 3-2 Brewers.  Reynolds hit a solo homerun in the sixth to put the Brewers up 4-2.  In the eighth Davis hit an RBI single to make it 5-2 Brewers and that would be the final score.  The Mets have lost two out of the first three games and will play the fourth and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon. 

The New York Yankees drop one at home to the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-4.  Chris Capuano started and pitched pretty well.  The bullpen wasn't great.  Derek Jeter and Carlos Beltran each had two hits. 

Capuano pitched six innings giving up two runs and five hits.  He walked four and struck out four.  Shawn Kelley pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his third game of the season.  Matt Thornton pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and struck out two, Chase Whitley pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Jeff Francis pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Drew Hutchison pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Hutchison won his seventh game of the season.  Aaron Loup pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks with two strikeouts and Casey Janssen pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs.   

Jeter had two hits and drew a walk, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and Beltran had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Brian McCann had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Chase Headley had a hit and Brian Roberts drew a walk.  Francisco Cervelli had a hit and drew a walk, McCann and Beltran each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

Jose Reyes drew a walk, Melky Cabrera had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Jose Bautista had a hit and drew two walks.  Dioner Navarro had three hits, Steve Tolleson had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Dan Johnson had two hits and four RBI.  Colby Rasmus had a hit and drew a walk, Cabrera, Bautista and Navarro each hit a double.  Johnson hit a homerun and the Jays were 3-14 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

In the fourth McCann hit a two run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Cabrera hit an RBI double in the fifth to cut the lead to 2-1.  Tolleson hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at two.  In the seventh Johnson hit an RBI single to give the Jays a 3-2 lead.  Johnson hit a three run homerun in the ninth to push the Jays lead to 6-2.  In the bottom of the ninth Beltran hit a two run homerun to cut the lead to 6-4 and that would be the final score.  The teams have split the first two games of the series and will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon. 

The New York Mets pull off a ninth inning rally to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers



The New York Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.  The game took place at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the final score was 3-2.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and pitched well and the bullpen was good.  Lucas Duda hit a two run homerun and David Wright had a big RBI hit in the ninth inning. 

Wheeler pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out nine.  Vic Black pitched to one batter and retired him, Carlos Torres won his fifth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and striking out one and Jennry Mejia pitched an inning walking one and striking out the side.  Mejia saved his 14th game of the season. 

Yovani Gallardo pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up four hits and no runs with eight strikeouts.  Will Smith pitched to one batter and struck him out and Francisco Rodriguez blew his fourth save of the season and lost his fourth game.  He pitched an inning giving up four hits and three runs and struck out two. 

Daniel Murphy had three hits, Wright had two hits and an RBI and Duda had a hit and two RBI.  Travis d'Arnaud had a hit, Eric Campbell had a hit and Murphy hit a double.  Duda hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Murphy committed two errors. 

Carlos Gomez had two hits and an RBI, Rickie Weeks had a hit and drew a walk and Aramis Ramirez had an RBI.  Lyle Overbay had a hit and drew a walk, Matthew LuCroy drew a walk and Weeks hit a double.  Gomez hit a homerun and the Brewers were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Ramirez grounded into a force out and a runs scored in the sixth.  The Brewers had a 1-0 lead and in the seventh Gomez hit a solo homerun to give them a 2-0 lead.  In the ninth Wright hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1 and Duda hit a two run homerun to give the Mets a 3-2 lead which would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three of their four game series on Saturday night. 

New York Yankees defeat the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-4.  Hiroki Kuroda started and was ok, the bullpen was great.  Chase Headley had three hits and Francisco Cervelli had two hits. 

Kuroda pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Kuroda picked up his seventh win of the season.  David Huff pitched a perfect inning, Shawn Kelley faced one batter and retired him and Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one.  David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two.  Robertson picked up his 26th save of the season. 

Mark Buehrle lost his seventh game of the season pitching three innings and giving up nine hits and six runs.  He walked one and struck out two.  Todd Redmond pitched three innings giving up two hits and struck out four, Brett Cecil pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Dustin McGowan pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had an RBI, Derek Jeter had a hit and Carlos Beltran had a hit and an RBI.  Brian McCann had two hits, Headley had three hits and Ichiro Suzuki had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Brian Roberts had a hit and an RBI, Cervelli had two hits and Headley hit a double.  Beltran and Ichiro each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Headley was caught stealing and Cervelli had a passed ball. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Kawasaki had a hit and Melky Cabrera had a hit.  Jose Bautista had three hits and four RBI, Dioner Navarro had a hit and Juan Francisco had a hit.  Ryan Goins had a hit, Anthony Gose had a hit and drew a walk and Bautista hit a double and two homeruns.  The Blue Jays were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Navarro had a pick off. 

In the first the Blue Jays took a 3-0 lead on a Bautista homerun.  The Yankees came back with two in the second to cut the lead to 3-2.  Roberts hit an RBI single and Gardner hit a sacrifice fly.  In the third Bautista hit a solo homerun to give the Jays a 4-2 lead.  The Yankees came right back with four runs in the bottom of the third.  Beltran hit a solo homerun and Suzuki hit a three run homerun to give the Yankees a 6-4 lead.  6-4 would be the final score, after all the early scoring it tightened up in the later innings.  The Yankees have won seven of eight on their current ten game homestand.  The Blue Jays have lost 13 straight at Yankee Stadium and the two teams will play game two of their series on Saturday afternoon.

The New York Yankees win the series over the Texas Rangers



The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-2.  Brandon McCarthy started for the Yankees and pitched well, the bullpen was pretty good.  The offense only managed six hits but it was enough. 

McCarthy pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts.  McCarthy earned his fifth win of the season.  Adam Warren pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run, Matt Thornton threw one pitch and retired the only batter that he faced and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  David Robertson saved his 25th game of the season pitched a scoreless inning.  He walked one and struck out two. 

Colby Lewis lost his eighth game of the season pitching 6 1/3 innings and giving up four hits and three runs.  He walked three and struck out two.  Ryan Feierabend pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and Roman Mendez pitched 2/3 of an inning. 

Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI and Carlos Beltran had a hit and drew a walk.  Brian McCann had a hit and an RBI, Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI and Ichiro Suzuki had a hit and drew a walk.  Francisco Cervelli had a hit and an RBI, Gardner, Cervelli and McCann each hit a double.  The Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base. 

Shin-Soo Choo had a hit and drew a walk, Elvis Andrus had a hit and an RBI and Jim Adduci drew a walk.  J.P. Arencibia had a hit and an RBI, Leonys Martin drew a walk and Rougned Odor had two hits.  Odor hit a double, Arencibia hit a homerun and the Rangers were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the third Andrus hit an RBI single and the Rangers took a 1-0 lead.  The Yankees tied the game in the fourth on a Headley RBI single.  The Yankees took the lead in the fifth inning on a Cervelli RBI double and a Gardner sacrifice fly.  They had a 3-1 lead which got trimmed to 3-2 on an Arencibia solo homerun in the seventh inning.  The Yankees had a 3-2 lead and added an insurance run in the eighth on a McCann RBI double.  The Yankees took a 4-2 lead and that would be the final score.  The Yankees took three out of four in the series and have won six of seven on the homestand.  They will now start a three game series at home against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night. 

The New York Yankees win a rain shortened game over the Texas Rangers



The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  David Phelps started and pitched well.  The rains came in the fifth inning and the grounds crew just couldn't get the tarp on in time.  The field was soaked and deemed too dangerous to play in and the game was called after a long delay.  Francisco Cervelli had two hits and Brett Gardner a hit and an RBI. 

Phelps pitched five innings giving up five hits and a run.  He walked none and struck out three to earn his fifth win of the season. 

Yu Darvish pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs.  He didn't walk a batter and struck out five and lost his sixth game of the season. 

Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Chase Headley had a hit and Cervelli had two hits.  Headley hit a double and Cervelli hit two doubles.  Gardner hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Alex Rios had a hit, Adrian Beltre had a hit and Leonys Martin had two hits.  Gimenenez had a hit, Martin hit a triple and the Rangers were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Rios was caught stealing and Beltre committed an error. 

All the runs of the game were scored in the third inning.  The Rangers took a 1-0 lead on a ground ball double play.  Cervelli scored on a balk to tie the game for the Yankees and then Gardner hit a solo homerun to give them a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The two teams will finish their four game series on Thursday afternoon.   

The New York Mets even their series with the Seattle Mariners


The New York Mets defeated the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington.  Jacob deGrom started and pitched great and the bullpen was good.  Lucas Duda had two hits. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up five hits and a run.  He walked one and struck out seven and won his fourth game of the season.  Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jennry Mejia saved his 12th game of the season pitching an inning and walking one. 

Erasmo Ramirez pitched seven innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and ten strikeouts.  He lost his fifth game of the season.  Tom Wilhelmsen pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Daniel Murphy had a hit, David Wright drew a walk and Duda had two hits and an RBI.  Bobby Abreu had a hit, Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and an RBI and Kirk Nieuwenhuis drew a walk.  Juan Lagares drew a walk, Ruben Tejada had a hit and an RBI and d'Arnaud hit a triple.  Duda hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Duda had a stolen base, Murphy committed an error. 

Endy Chavez had a hit, Kyle Seager had a hit and drew a walk and Corey Hart drew a walk.  Willie Bloomquist had a hit, Dustin Ackley had two hits and an RBI and Ackley hit a double.  The Mariners were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Jones had a stolen base. 

In the second d'Arnaud had an RBI triple and Tejada hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Mets.  In the bottom of the fifth Ackley hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the eighth Duda hit a solo homerun to make it 3-1 and that was the final score.

The New York Yankees win a marathon game in 14 over the Texas Rangers



The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Chase Whitley started and pitched great, the bullpen was very good.  The offense didn't do much until the final couple of innings in extra innings.  Chase Headley who was acquired earlier in the day had the walk off single. 

Whitley pitched six innings giving up seven hits and no runs.  He didn't walk a batter and struck out six.  Matt Thornton pitched to one batter and struck him out, Adam Warren retired the only two batters that he faced and Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a walk and two strikeouts.  David Robertson pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts, Shawn Kelley pitched an inning striking out one and David Huff pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout.  Jeff Francis in his first appearance with the Yankees won his first game of the season.  He pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Nick Martinez pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out three.  Neftali Feliz pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out one, Shawn Tolleson pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Neal Cotts pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk.  Roman Mendez pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two walks and a strikeout, Ryan Feierabend pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a walk and Scott Baker pitched 2/3 of an inning.  Joakim Soria blew his second save of the season pitching an inning giving up three hits and a run, Nick Tepesch lost his sixth game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up three hits and a run. 

Brett Gardner had two hits and drew two walks, Derek Jeter had a hit and drew a walk and Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Carlos Beltran had two hits, Brian McCann had a hit and Brian Roberts had two hits and drew a walk.  Francisco Cervelli had a hit, Headley had a hit and an RBI and Jeter, Gardner and Roberts each hit a double.  The Yankees were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and Wheeler committed an error. 

Shin-Soo Choo had two hits, Jim Adduci had a hit and Adrian Beltre had a hit.  Leonys Martin had two hits, J.P. Arencibia had a hit and an RBI and Robinson Chirinos had a hit.  Rougned Odor had a hit and drew a walk, Daniel Robertson had two hits and Chirinos hit a double.  Arencibia hit a homerun and the Rangers were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Robertson had a stolen base. 

In the 13th Arencibia hit a solo homerun to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead.  The Yankees tied the game in the bottom of the 13th on an Ellsbury RBI single.  The Yankees won the game on a walk off RBI single from Headley to win the game 2-1 in 14 innings. 

The New York Mets are sleepless in Seattle



The New York Mets were defeated by the Seattle Mariners on Monday night.  The game took place at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington.  Jon Niese started and wasn't great, David Wright and Travis d'Arnaud led the offense with two hits each. 

Niese pitched six innings giving up four runs and 11 hits.  He walked two and struck out six and lost his fifth game of the season.  Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts. 

Roenis Elias pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Elias won his eighth game of the season.  Dominic Leone pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits, Charlie Furbush pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Brandon Maurer pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and striking out one.  Danny Farquhar pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with two strikeouts.

Daniel Murphy had a hit, Wright had two hits and an RBI and Lucas Duda had a hit.  d'Arnaud had two hits, Chris Young had a hit and drew a walk and Juan Lagares had a hit.  Ruben Tejada had a hit and drew a walk. 

Willie Bloomquist had three hits and an RBI, James Jones had a hit and Robinson Cano had a hit.  Kyle Seager had two hits and two RBI, Stefen Romero had two hits.  Justin Smoak drew a walk, Corey Hart had a hit and drew a walk and Dustin Ackley had three hits and an RBI.  Mike Zunino had a hit and an RBI, Bloomquist, Cano, Hart and Ackley each hit a double and Zunino hit a homerun.  The Mariners were 4-13 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Bloomquist had a stolen base and Ackley was caught stealing and Cano committed an error. 

Seager hit an RBI single in the first to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead.  In the third Wright hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the third Zunino hit a solo homerun and Seager hit an RBI single to give the Mariners a 3-1 lead.  Bloomquist hit an RBI double in the fourth to give the Mariners a 4-1 lead.  In the eighth Ackley hit an RBI double to make it 5-1 and in the ninth an error led to a Mets run to make it 5-2 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of their three game series on Tuesday night.

The New York Yankees lose an ugly game to the Texas Rangers



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-2.  Shane Greene started and pitched well but he didn't field very well with three errors.  The offense didn't do much of anything. 

Greene pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  He lost his first game of the season.  Matt Thornton gave up two hits without recording an out, Adam Warren pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and striking out two and David Huff pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk with three strikeouts. 

Miles Mikolas pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  he won his first game of the season, Neal Cotts pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Joakim Soria saved his 17th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit.

In the first the Yankees took a 1-0 lead on a Beltran sacrifice fly.  In the third a force attempt error allowed a run to score and tie the game at one.  In the fourth Ellsbury hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Soto hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Odor hit an RBI single and Choo hit an RBI single to give the Rangers a 4-2 lead and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night. 

The New York Yankees sweep the Cincinnati Reds



The New York Yankees defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Hiroki Kuroda started and pitched well.  Jacoby Ellsbury had four hits and Brian McCann and Brian Roberts each had two hits. 

Kuroda pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up three hits and an unearned run.  He walked two and struck out six.  Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout and David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout to earn his first win of the season. 

Johnny Cueto pitched five innings giving up five hits and two runs with four walks and seven strikeouts.  Manny Parra pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and striking out two, Sam LeCure pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk and Jonathan Broxton pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one.  Aroldis Chapman lost his third game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.

Skip Schumaker had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI and Ryan Ludwick had a hit and drew a walk.  Ramon Santiago had two hits including a double.  Ludwick and Schumaker each hit a double and Frazier hit a homerun.  The Reds were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Santiago had a stolen base and Schumaker was picked off, Santiago committed an error. 

In the fifth Schumaker hit an RBI double to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Jeter hit an RBI single and Ellsbury hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the eighth Frazier hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  The Yankees won the game in the ninth on a McCann RBI single which was a gift hit.  It was a pop fly that fell in.  The Yankees won the game 3-2 and swept the three game series.  They will begin a four game series with the Texas Rangers on Monday night.

The New York Yankees roll to second straight victory



The New York Yankees defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-1.  Brandon McCarthy started for the Yankees and pitched very well.  Carlos Beltran, Brian Roberts and Kelly Johnson each had two hits to lead the offense. 

McCarthy pitched six innings giving up six hits and a run.  He walked none and struck out nine to earn his fourth win of the season.  Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Shawn Kelley pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and three strikeouts and Matt Thornton retired both batters that he faced. 

Alfredo Simon lost his fourth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up five hits and four runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out four.  Hoover pitched an inning giving up four hits and three runs with a strikeout, Contreras pitched a perfect inning and Diaz pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and three RBI, Derek Jeter had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Brian McCann had a hit.  Beltran had two hits and an RBI, Roberts had two hits and Johnson had two hits and two RBI.  Beltran hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Billy Hamilton had a hit, Todd Frazier had two hits and Devin Mesoraco had a hit.  Brayan Pena had a hit, Chris Heisey had a hit and an RBI and Donald Lutz had a hit.  Lutz and Hamilton each hit a double and Heisey hit a homerun.  The Reds were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Frazier had a stolen base, Bruce committed an error and Mesoraco had a passed ball. 

Beltran hit a solo homerun in the second to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Gardner hit an RBI single to make it 2-0.  Heisey hit a solo homerun in the fifth to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the fifth Gardner hit a sacrifice fly and Jeter hit an RBI single to push the Yankees lead to 4-1.  In the sixth Johnson hit a two run single and Gardner hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-0 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have taken the first two of the three game series and look for the three game sweep on Sunday afternoon.

The New York Mets are shutout by the San Diego Padres



The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Saturday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 6-0.  Dillon Gee started for the Mets and wasn't very good and the Mets offense only managed five hits. 

Gee pitched five innings giving up five hits and four runs with no walks and eight strikeouts.  He lost his second game of the season.  Carlos Torres pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Buddy Carlyle pitched an inning striking out one and Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run.  He struck out one and Vic Black retired the only batter that he faced. 

Tyson Ross won his eighth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up four hits and no runs.  He walked three and struck out six.  Alex Torres pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out two, Kevin Quackenbush retired the only batter that he faced and Blaine Boyer pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Daniel Murphy had a hit and Lucas Duda had a hit.  Travis d'Arnaud had a hit, Kirk Nieuwenhuis drew a walk and Juan Lagares had a hit.  Gee drew a walk, Eric Young Jr. drew a walk and Murphy hit a double.  The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Young Jr. was caught stealing, Nieuwenhuis committed an error and d'Arnaud had two passed balls. 

Alexi Amarista had a hit, Chase Headley had two hits and an RBI and Seth Smith had a hit and an RBI.  Yasmani Grandal had two hits and an RBI, Will Venable had a hit and an RBI and Rene Rivera had a hit.  Headley hit a double, Grandal, Venable and Smith each hit a homerun.  The Padres were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Nelson committed an error. 

Grandal hit a solo homerun in the second inning to give the Padres a 1-0 lead.  Headley hit a two run single in the third to make it 3-0 Padres.  Venable hit a solo homerun in the fourth to give the Padres a 4-0 lead.  Smith hit a solo homerun in the sixth to increase the lead to 5-0 and a passed ball made it 6-0 in the eighth and that would be the final score. 

The New York Mets build up a lead blow it and then hold on to defeat the San Diego Padres



The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Friday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 5-4.  Bartolo Colon started and he wasn't that goood, the bullpen was very good.  Curtis Granderson had two hits and Travis d'Arnaud had three hits. 

Colon pitched five innings giving up five hits and four runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Dana Eveland pitched two innings giving up a hit, Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning and picked up his second win of the season and Jennry Mejia saved his 11th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and striking out one. 

Ian Kennedy pitched five innings giving up six hits and four runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Dale Thayer pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out one, Alex Torres pitched 2/3 of an inning and Kevin Quackenbush pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Joaquin Benoit pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout.  He lost his second game of the season. 

Granderson had two hits and drew a walk, David Wright drew a walk and Lucas Duda had a hit and drew a walk.  d'Arnaud had three hits and two RBI, Kirk Nieuwenhuis had an RBI and drew a walk and Juan Lagares had a hit and two RBI.  Ruben Tejada had a hit and drew two walks, Duda and Tejada each hit a double and the Mets were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Granderson had a stolen base and Colon committed an error and Nieuwenhuis had an outfield assist. 

Chase Headley had a hit and two RBI, Will Venable had a hit and Jake Goebbert drew a walk.  Chris Nelson had two hits and an RBI, Alexi Amarista had three hits and an RBI and the Padres were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Venable and Goebbert each had a stolen base.

In the first d'Arnaud hit an RBI single and Lagares hit a two run single to make it 3-0 Mets.  In the third Nieuwenhuis hit an RBI groundout to push the lead to 4-0.  In the fifth Nelson hit an RBI single, Amarista hit an RBI single and Headley hit a two run single to tie the game at four.  d'Arnaud hit an RBI single in the ninth to give the Mets a 5-4 lead.  The final score was 5-4 Mets.
