The New York Mets doubled up the Philadelphia Phillies



The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 10-5.  Gabriel Ynoa started for the Mets and he didn't pitch that well and the bullpen was ok.  Michael Conforto had a couple of hits and three RBI. 

Ynoa pitched two innings giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Logan Verrett pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and two strikeouts, Josh Smoker won his third game of the season pitching an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts and Erik Goeddel pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he walked one.  Josh Edgin pitched giving up a hit and Hansel Robles pitched 2 2/3 innings striking out three. 

Jeremy Hellickson pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with three walks and a strikeout.  He lost his 10th game of the season.  Frank Hermann pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts, Colton Murray pitched an ininng giving up a hit and a run adn Patrick Schuster pitched giving up a hit and two runs with only one being earned.  He walked one and Severino Gonzalez pitched two innings with two strikeouts. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a walk and Curtis Granderson had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Kelly Johnson had a hit and an RBI, Conforto had two hits and three RBI and Eric Campbell had a hit and an RBI.  Lucas Duda had a hit, TJ Rivera had an RBI and Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and an RBI.  Ty Kelly drew a walk, Rene Rivera had a hit and Conforto, d'Arnaud, Duda and Cespedes each hit a double.  Conforto hit a homerun and the Mets were 5-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Reynolds committed an error. 

Cesar Hernandez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Roman Quinn had two hits and an RBI and Odubel Herrera had a hit and drew a walk.  Maikel Franco had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Ryan Howard drew a walk and Freddy Galvis had two hits.  Cody Asche had a hit and drew a walk, Darin Ruf had a hit and two RBI and Franco and Ruf each hit a homerun and the Phillies were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Herrera and Quinn each had a stolen base.  Quinn and Rupp each committed an error. 

In the second Hernandez hit an RBI single to make it 1-0 Phillies.  Quinn hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0 Phillies.  In the bottom of the second d'Arnaud hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Franco hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-1.  Granderson hit an RBI single in the fifth and the lead was cut to 3-2.  Johnson hit a two run single to give the Mets a 4-3 lead.  Conforto hit a three run homerun and it was 7-3 Mets still in the fifth.  In the sixth Ruf hit a two run homerun to cut the lead to 7-5.  In the seventh Lagares hit a sac bunt and a run scored making it an 8-5 game.  Campbell hit an RBI single to push the lead to 9-5 and TJ Rivera hit a sac fly to make it 10-5. 

 The two teams will play on Saturday night and then finish their series on Sunday afternoon. 

The New York Yankees are blown out in Toronto


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the final score was 9-0.  Bryan Mitchell started for the Yankees and he pitched pretty well, the bullpen wasn't good.  Gary Sanchez had two hits, the team only managed one other hit. 
Mitchell pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with one of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out two and took his second loss of the season.  Blake Parker pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up four hits and four runs with two walks, James Pazos pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Ben Heller pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts. 
Francisco Liriano pitched six innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  He earned his eighth win of the season.  Joaquin Benoit pitched an inning with a walk, Brett Cecil pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Danny Barnes pitched an inning striking out one. 
Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Sanchez had two hits and Billy Butler drew a walk.  Didi Gregorius drew a walk, Aaron Hicks drew a walk and Sanchez hit a double.  The Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Butler and McCann each committed an error. 
Devon Travis had two hits, Josh Donaldson had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Edwin Encarnacion had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks.  Jose Bautista had a hit and two RBI, Russell Martin had a hit and drew two walks and Troy Tulowitzki had two hits and four RBI.  Michael Saunders drew a walk, Melvin Upton Jr. had a hit and Kevin Pillar had two hits.  Ezequiel Carrera had two hits, Bautista and Travis each hit a double and Donaldson hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Pillar was caught stealing and Tulowitzki committed an error. 
In the first Tulowitzki hit a two run single to give the Jays a 2-0 lead.  In the second Encarnacion drew an RBI walk to push the lead to 3-0.  In the seventh Bautista hit a two run double and it was 5-0 Jays.  Tulowitzki hit a two run single to extend the lead to 7-0.  In the eighth Donaldson hit a two run homerun and the lead grew to 9-0 which would be the final score. 
The Yankees have now lost two straight and are seeing their playoff hopes go down the drain.

The New York Mets win a wild one against the Philadelphia Phillies



The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 9-8 in 11 innings.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen had some good and some bad.  Asdrubal Cabrera and Yoenis Cespedes each had three hits. 

Lugo pitched five innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Sean Gilmartin pitched to two batters and retired them both, Erik Goeddel pitched to one batter and retired him and Fernando Salas pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Addison Reed pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk, Hansel Robles pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two walks and he struck out two, Josh Edgin pitched 1/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Jim Henderson won his second game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and he had a walk. 

Adam Morgan pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Luis Garcia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Michael Mariot pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Frank Hermann pitched to one batter and retired him.  Joely Rodriguez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Jeanmar Gomez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout and Hector Neris pitched 2/3 of an inning walking one and struck out two.  Severino Gonzalez pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Edubray Ramos pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and he lost his third game of the season and blew his second save of the season. 

Jose Reyes had two hits and two RBI with a walk, Cabrera had three hits and three RBI and Cespedes had three hits and two RBI.  TJ Rivera had a hit, Curtis Granderson had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Brandon Nimmo had a hit.  Ty Kelly drew a walk, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Cespedes hit a double.  Granderson, Reyes and Cabrera each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.

In the second Granderson hit a two run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Quinn hit an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Howard hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the fifth Rupp hit a solo homerun giving the Phillies a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth the Mets tied it on a Cespedes RBI single.  Cespedes hit an RBI double in the seventh to give the Mets a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Franco hit a three run homerun giving the Phillies back the lead at 6-4.  Reyes hit a two run homerun in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at six.  In the 11th Ellis hit an RBI single giving the Phillies a 7-6 lead.  Franco drew an RBI walk to make it 8-6.  In the bottom of the 11th Cabrera hit a walk-off three run homerun to give the Mets a 9-8 win. 

The Mets and Phillies will play game two on Friday night. 

The New York Yankees are shutout as they fail to sweep the Tampa Bay Rays



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 2-0.  Luis Cessa started for the Yankees and he pitched well and Luis Severino pitched well again out of the pen.  Billy Butler, Didi Gregorius and Aaron Hicks each had two hits but no one had an extra base hit. 

Cessa pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  He lost his third game of the season.  Severino pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three. 

Blake Snell won his sixth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up five hits and no runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Chase Whitley pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with no walks and three strikeouts and Alex Colome pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and recorded his 35th save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and Gary Sanchez drew two walks.  Butler had two hits, Mark Teixeria drew a walk and Gregorius had two hits.  Hicks had two hits and the Yankees were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Sanchez had a pickoff. 

Logan Forsythe had a hit, Kevin Kiermaier had three hits and Brad Miller had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Corey Dickerson had a hit and an RBI, Curt Casali had a hit and Richie Shaffer drew a walk.  Casali hit a double, Dickerson hit a homerun and the Rays were 1-4 with four men left on base.  Kiermaier was caught stealing and Casali was picked off.  Forsythe committed an error and Casali had a passed ball. 

In the first Miller hit an RBI single to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Dickerson hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  2-0 would be the final score. 

The Yankees won two out of three and will head to Toronto to start a four game series on Friday night.  It will be the last road series of the year as the Yankees will then come back home for their final six games of the season. 

The New York Mets are swept by the Atlanta Braves



The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched pretty well and the bullpen was ok but Jeurys Familia blew the save.  TJ Rivera had two hits to lead the offense. 

Colon pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  Addison Reed pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up an unearned run and he struck out one, Josh Smoker pitched giving up a hit and not recording an out and Familia pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and he lost his fourth game and blew his fifth save of the season. 

Ryan Weber pitched five innings giving up four  hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  John Gant pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Brandon Cunniff pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he walked two and Chaz Roe pitched to one batter and struck out one.  Ian Krol won his second game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning walking one and striking out one.  Jim Johnson saved his 17th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.

In the first Cabrera hit a two run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Rivera hit a solo homerun to make it 3-0.  In the seventh Recker hit a two run homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the eighth Kemp hit a sac fly making it 3-3.  In the ninth Inciarte hit into an RBI ground out making it 4-3 Atlanta and that would be the final score.

The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 11-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched just ok and the bullpen was good.  Brian McCann had four hits and Gary Sanchez had three hits and five RBI. 

Tanaka won his 14th game of the season and pitched six innings giving up seven hits and four runs.  He walked two and struck out five.  Adam Warren pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Tommy Layne pitched to one batter and retired him and Tyler Clippard pitched to one batter and retired him.  Jonathan Holder pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Alex Cobb pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up nine hits and seven runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  He lost his first game of the season.  Steve Geltz pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a strikeout, Justin Marks pitched three innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Dana Eveland pitched an inning giving up a hit and had a strikeout.  Enny Romero pitched an inning walking one and struck out three and Erasmo Ramirez pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs.

Kevin Kiermaier had a hit, Evan Longoria had a hit and an RBI and Brad Miller had two hits and two RBI.  Corey Dickerson had two hits and an RBI, Alexei Ramirez drew a walk and Jaff Decker drew a walk.  Bobby Wilson had two hits and an RBI, Dickerson hit a double and Wilson, Longoria and Dickerson each hit a homerun and Miller hit two homeruns.  The Rays were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Sanchez hit an RBI single in the first to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  McCann hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  Torreyes hit an RBI single extending the Yankees lead to 3-0 still in the first inning.  In the second Sanchez hit a three run homerun making it 6-0 Yankees.  In the second Gregorius hit a sac fly pushing the lead to 7-0 Yankees.  In the bottom of the third Wilson hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-1.  Longoria hit a solo homerun making it 7-2 still in the third.  Miller hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-3 and Dickerson hit a solo homerun making it a 7-4 game.  In the sixth Sanchez hit a two run homerun to extend the Yankees lead to 8-4.  In the eighth Miller hit his second homerun of the game to cut the lead to 8-5.  In the ninth Williams hit an RBI single and Solano hit a two run homerun to make it an 11-5 game.  11-5 would be the final score. 

The Yankees have taken the first two games of the series and will look to sweep the series on Thursday night.

New York Yankees end their losing streak with a victory in Tampa Bay



The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 5-3.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen was pretty good.  Billy Butler and Ronald Torreyes each had two hits and Gary Sanchez had three RBI. 

Pineda pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and 11 strikeouts.  Tommy Layne pitched to one batter and struck him out, Luis Severino pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out one and he won his third game of the season and Tyler Clippard pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.  Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and recorded his 12th save of the season.  

Drew Smyly pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Brad Boxberger lost his third game of the season pitching an inning and giving up four hits and four runs with a strikeout and Eddie Gamboa pitched two innings giving up two hits and two walks with a couple of strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk and Sanchez had a hit, three RBI and drew two walks.  Butler had two hits, Mark Teixeira had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Torreyes had two hits, Mason Williams had a hit and Butler hit two doubles.  Teixeira and Sanchez each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base.

In the third Miller hit a two run triple to give the Rays a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Teixeira hit a homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the seventh Gardner hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Sanchez hit a three run homerun to give the Yankees a 5-2 lead still in the seventh.  In the eighth a wild pitch cut the lead to 5-3 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.

New York Mets sweep the Minnesota Twins



The New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Gabriel Ynoa started for the Mets and he pitched pretty well and the bullpen did a pretty good job.  TJ Rivera and Michael Conforto each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Ynoa pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Josh Edgin gave up a hit to the only batter that he faced, Erik Goeddel pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts.  He earned his second win of the season, Josh Smoker pitched an inning with two strikeouts, Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Jerry Blevins pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two. 

Kyle Gibson pitched five innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  He lost his 10th game of the season.  Buddy Boshers pitched a perfect inning and Taylor Rogers pitched two innings striking out two. 

Alejandro De Aza drew a walk, Rivera had two hits and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit.  Conforto had two hits and two RBI, Kelly Johnson had a hit and drew a walk and Travis d'Arnaud had a hit.  Cespedes hit a double, Rivera hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Brian Dozier had a hit, Logan Schafer had a hit and Jorge Polanco drew a walk.  Kennys Vargas had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Robbie Grossman had four hits and James Beresford had a hit.  JR Murphy had an RBI, Vargas hit a homerun and the Twins were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Polanco committed an error. 

Conforto hit a two run single in the first to make it 2-0 Mets.  In the second Murphy hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Rivera hit a solo homerun to make it 3-1 Mets.  In the eighth Vargas hit a solo homerun to make it 3-2. 

The Mets swept the three game series and will take on the Atlanta Braves beginning on Monday night.   

New York Yankees get swept by the Boston Red Sox



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 5-4.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched ok and the bullpen was pretty good.  Gary Sanchez had three hits to lead the offense and Didi Gregorius and Mason Williams each had two hits. 

Sabathia pitched five innings giving up eight hits and four runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Blake Parker pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Tyler Clippard pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run and he took his fourth loss of the season and Tommy Layne pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Drew Pomeranz pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and four runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Heath Hembree pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit, Junichi Tazawa pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Brad Ziegler pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Robby Scott won his first game of the season pitching to two batters and striking out one, Joe Kelly pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Koji Uehara pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and recorded his seventh save of the season.

Xander Bogaerts drew two walks, Mookie Betts had a hit and Hanley Ramirez had three hits and four RBI.  Chris Young had a hit, Travis Shaw had a hit and Aaron Hill had a hit and drew a walk.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and an RBI, Bryan Holaday had two hits including a double and Ramirez hit two homeruns.  The Red Sox were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Gregorius hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Sanchez hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0.  Gardner hit into a force out in the fourth and it was 3-0 Yankees.  Torreyes grounded into a force out still in the fourth and the lead was extended to 4-0.  In the fifth Ramirez hit a three run homerun to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the sixth Bradley hit an RBI single and the game was tied at four.  In the seventh Ramirez hit a solo homerun to give the Red Sox a 5-4 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees got swept in the four game series and basically taken out of playoff contention.  They will have the day off on Monday and then begin a three game set in Tampa on Tuesday night.

The New York Mets win second straight over the Minnesota Twins



The New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched pretty well, the bullpen was good.  TJ Rivera had three hits and Yoenis Cespedes and Curtis Granderson each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run with four walks and two strikeouts.  Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three, Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Addison Reed pitched an inning with a strikeout, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Hansel Robles pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts.   Josh Edgin won his first game of the season pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Ervin Santana pitched seven innings giving up four hits and no runs with two walks and nine strikeouts.  Ryan Pressly pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Taylor Rogers pitched to two batters and struck out two and J.T. Chargois pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Alex Wimmers pitched an inning walking one and striking out three, Brandon Kintzler blew his third save of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout and Michael Tonkin pitched to two batters and retired them both.  Ryan O'Rourke lost his first game of the season giving up a hit and a run. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk and Cespedes had two hits and an RBI.  Granderson had two hits and two RBI, Rivera had three hits and James Loney drew a walk.  Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Alejandro De Aza drew a walk and Rivera hit a double.  Granderson hit two homeruns and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

Brian Dozier had a hit and drew a walk, Jorge Polanco had two hits and drew two walks and Max Kepler had a hit.  Eddie Rosario had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Byron Buxton had two hits and an RBI and Juan Centeno had a hit and drew two walks.  Polanco hit a double and Rosario and Buxton each hit a homerun.  The Twins were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Polanco had a stolen base. 

In the fourth Rosario hit a solo homerun to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Cespedes hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the 11th Buxton hit a solo homerun to give the Twins a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the 11th Granderson hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the 12th Granderson hit a walk-off homerun to give the Mets a 3-2 win. 

The Mets and Twins will play their third and final game on Sunday afternoon.  The Mets will be looking for the three game sweep. 

New York Mets shutout the Minnesota Twins



The New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched well and the bullpen held the lead.  James Loney had two hits to lead the offense. 

Colon pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked two and struck out six and earned his 14th game of the season.  Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning with two walks.  Familia saved his 49th game of the season. 

Jose Berrios pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  He lost his seventh game of the season.  Michael Tonkin pitched an inning with a walk, Pat Dean pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Pat Light pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  Ryan O'Rourke pitched to two batters and retired them both and Buddy Boshers pitched an inning and struck out two. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and an RBI.  Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Jay Bruce drew a walk and TJ Rivera had a hit.  Loney had two hits, Alejandro De Aza had a hit and Loney hit a double.  Reyes and Cabrera each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Cespedes committed an error and Colon had a pickoff. 

Brian Dozier hada hit, Joe Mauer drew three walks and Jorge Polanco had a hit.  Kurt Suzuki drew a walk, Berrios had a hit and the Twins were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Kepler was picked off. 

In the third Reyes and Cabrera each hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the seventh Cespedes hit an RBI single to push the Mets lead to 3-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will continue their series on Saturday.

New York Yankees blow late lead and drop another one in Boston



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 6-5.  Bryan Mitchell started for the Yankees and pitched ok and the bullpen was just ok.  Didi Gregorius and Austin Romine each had two hits. 

Mitchell pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out three.  Luis Severino pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with three walks and a strikeout, Tommy Layne pitched to one batter and retired him and Adam Warren pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout.  Warren lost his fourth game of the season and blew his third save of the season.

David Price pitched six innings giving up nine hits and five runs with seven strikeouts.  Robbie Ross Jr. pitched 1/3 of an inning walking one, Matt Barnes pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one and won his fourth game of the season and Craig Kimbrel pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out four and picking up his 27th save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI an ddrew a walk, Gary Sanchez had a hit and two RBI and Starlin Castro had a hit.  Billy Butler had a hit, Gregorius had two hits and drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit.  Romine had two hits and two RBI, Romine and Castro each hit a double and Gardner hit a triple.  Sanchez hit a  homerun and the Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gardner was caught stealing and Romine had a passed ball. 

Xander Bogaerts had three hits and three RBI, David Ortiz had an RBI and drew a walk and Mookie Betts had two hits and an RBI.  Hanley Ramirez had three hits, Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and drew two walks and Andrew Benintendi had a hit and drew a walk.  Benintendi and Ramirez each hit a double and Bogaerts hit two doubles.  Bogaerts hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the third Gardner hit an RBI triple to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Sanchez hit a two run homerun the lead was extended to 3-0.  Bogaets hit an RBI double in the third to cut the lead to 3-1.  Ortiz hit an RBI ground out to make it 3-2 still in the third.  In the fourth Romine hit a two run double to extend the lead to 5-2.  Bogaerts hit a two run homerun in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-4.  In the seventh Betts hit an RBI single to make it 5-5 and a wild pitch gave the Red Sox a 6-5 lead.  The final score would be 6-5 and the Red Sox have taken the first three games of the four game series.  The two teams will play the fourth and final game on Sunday night.

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 7-4.  Luis Cessa started for the Yankees and pitched ok, the bullpen wasn't great.  Gary Sanchez had a couple of RBI and Mason Williams had a couple of hits. 

Cessa lost his second game of the season pitching five innings and giving up six hits and three runs with a strikeout.  James Pazos gave up a hit and a run, Jonathan Holder pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Chasen Shreve pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run.  Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Ben Heller pitched a perfect inning. 

Clay Buchholz won his seventh game of the season pitching six innings and giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Robbie Ross Jr. pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Brad Ziegler pitched to one batter and struck him out and Koji Uehara pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Fernando Abad pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and Craig Kimbrel pitched to two batters and struck them both out and recorded his 26th save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk and Sanchez had a hit and two RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Chase Headley had a hit and Brian McCann had a hit.  Mark Teixeira had a hit and drew a walk, Williams had two hits and Billy Butler had a hit and two RBI.  Headley, Sanchez, McCann and Gardner each hit a double.  Butler hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Gardner and Ellsbury each had an outfield assist. 

Dustin Pedroia had two hits, Xander Bogaerts had a h it and David Ortiz had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Mookie Betts had two hits, Hanley Ramirez had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Travis Shaw had a hit and an RBI.  Sandy Leon had a hit and an RBI, Jackie Bradley Jr.  had a hit and an RBI and Shaw, Ortiz, Leon and Bogaerts each hit a double.  Ramirez and Bradley Jr. each hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left four  men on base.  Betts had a stolen base. 

In the first Ortiz hit an RBI single to make it 1-0.  Ramirez hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Ramirez hit a solo homerun to push the Red Sox lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Sanchez hit a two run double to cut the lead to 3-2.  Shaw hit a sac fly in the sixth to make it a 4-2 game.  Leon hit an RBI double and the lead was 5-2 still in the sixth.  In the seventh Bradley Jr. hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 6-2.  Betts hit into a double play and a run scored to make it 7-2 in the seventh.  Butler hit a two run homerun in the ninth to cut the lead to 7-4 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday afternoon.
