New York Mets lose a slug fest in Colorado


The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 10-8.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Dominic Smith had three hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched three innings giving up six hits and six runs with three of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five.  Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one, Robert Gsellman lost his second game of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and Anthony Swarzak pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Chad Bettis pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and eight runs with five walks and four strikeouts.  Chris Rusin pitched giving up a hit and two walks and he didn’t record an out, Bryan Shaw pitched 1/3 of an inning winning his third game of the season and Harrison Musgrave pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked two.  Jake McGee pitched an inning with a strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Wade Davis saved his 21st game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Michael Conforto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI, Smith had three hits and Wilmer Flores had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Devin Mesoraco had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Jose Reyes had a hit and drew two walks and Luis Guillorme drew a walk.  Jose Bautista drew a walk, Amed Rosario had a hit and Cabrera, Mesoraco, Reyes and Smith each hit a double.  Smith hit a triple and the Mets were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Frazier and Reyes each committed an error and Mesoraco had a passed ball. 

DJ LeMahieu had three hits and an RBI, Charlie Blackmon had a hit and an RBI and Nolan Arenado had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Carlos Gonzalez had a hit and drew a walk, Gerardo Parra had two hits and two RBI and Ian Desmond drew three walks.  Tom Murphy had two hits and an RBI, Bettis had an RBI and Ryan McMahon had a hit and three RBI.  Arenado, McMahon and Blackmon each hit a homerun and the Rockies were 5-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Murphy was caught stealing. 

In the first Conforto hit an RBI single, Mesoraco hit a two-run double and it was 3-0 Mets.  In the bottom of the first Arenado hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the second Frazier hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the second Parra hit an RBI single to cut it to 4-2.  Bettis hit an RBI ground out to make it 4-3 and LeMahieu hit an RBI single to tie the game at four.  In the third Parra hit an RBI single, Murphy hit an RBI single and the Rockies had a 6-4 lead.  In the fifth Flores hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 6-5.  Nimmo drew an RBI walk and the game was tied at six.  Cabrera hit a two-run single giving the Mets a 8-6 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth McMahon hit a three-run homerun to give the Rockies back the lead at 9-8.  Blackmon hit a solo homerun in the sixth to push the lead to 10-8 and that would be the final score.   

New York Yankees complete the sweep of the Seattle Mariners


The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he didn’t have his best stuff but he hung in there and got the win.  The bullpen was great and Clint Frazier, Didi Gregorius and Gleyber Torres each had two hits. 

Severino pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and three runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Severino earned his 11th win of the season.  David Robertson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Dellin Betances pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman earned his 22nd save of the season pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

James Paxton pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs with three walks and nine strikeouts and he lost his second game of the season.  Chasen Bradford pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Nick Rumbelow pitched a perfect inning. 

Frazier had two hits, Aaron Judge had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Gregorius had two hits.  Torres had two hits, Miguel Andujar had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Greg Bird drew a walk.  Neil Walker drew a walk, Torres hit a double and Judge and Andujar each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

Dee Gordon had a hit, Nelson Cruz had two hits and drew a walk and Kyle Seager had two hits and two RBI.  Ryan Healy had a hit and drew a walk, Ben Gamel had a hit and an RBI and Mike Zunino had a hit and drew a walk.  Andrew Romine had a hit, Cruz and Zunino each hit a double and Seager hit a homerun.  The Mariners were 1-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Judge hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Andujar hit a two-run homerun and it was 4-0.  In the second Seager hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the sixth Gamel hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees were able to complete the three-game sweep and will now head to Tampa to take on the Rays in a three-game weekend series.   

New York Yankees come from behind to defeat the Seattle Mariners


The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-5.  Jonathan Loaisiga started for the Yankees and he struggled a bit and so did Chasen Shreve but Jonathan Holder kept the Yankees in the game and the offense had a big comeback.  Aaron Judge had three hits, Gary Sanchez and Giancarlo Stanton had two hits each. 

Loaisiga pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Shreve pitched two innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk, Holder pitched 2 1/3 perfect innings with a couple of strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman earned his third win of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Felix Hernandez pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out six.  Juan Nicasio pitched an inning with a strikeout, James Pazos pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Alex Colome pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Ryan Cook took his first loss of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout. 

Aaron Hicks drew a walk, Judge had three hits and an RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Stanton had two hits and two RBI, Gleyber Torres drew a walk and Sanchez had two hits and two RBI.  Greg Bird had a hit, Miguel Andujar had a hit and Clint Frazier had a hit.  Judge, Andujar and Frazier each hit a double and Sanchez and Stanton each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Torres committed an error. 

Dee Gordon had two hits and two RBI, Jean Segura had a hit and drew a walk and Mitch Haniger had a hit.  Nelson Cruz had a hit, Kyle Seager had a hit and drew two walks and Denard Span had a hit and an RBI.  Ryan Healy had two hits and an RBI, Ben Gamel had a hit and Gamel and Seager each hit a double and the Mariners were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Span committed an error. 

In the fourth Span hit an RBI single to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead.  Gordon hit a two-run single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Span hit a sac fly and it was 4-0.  Healy hit an RBI single and the lead was extended to 5-0.  In the bottom of the fifth Judge hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 5-2.  In the seventh Gregorius hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-3.  The game was tied at five in the eighth on a Sanchez two-run homerun.  In the ninth Stanton hit a two-run walk-off homerun to give the Yankee a 7-5 victory. 

The Yankees will be looking for the three-game sweep when they play on Thursday afternoon.

New York Mets fall in a slugfest


The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 10-8.  Jason Vargas started for the Mets and he was horrible.  Asdrubal Cabrera and Kevin Plawecki each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Vargas pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up nine hits and seven runs with no walks or strikeouts and he lost his sixth game of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with three walks and a strikeout, Chris Beck pitched two innings giving up four this and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Tim Peterson pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts.

German Marquez won his fifth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up six hits and four runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Bryan Shaw pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned and he walked one and struck out one, Chris Rusin pitched to one batter and struck him out and Adam Ottavino pitched 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts.  Wade Davis pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with one of them being earned and he walked one and struck out one.

DJ LeMahieu drew a walk, Charlie Blackmon had two hits and drew two walks and Nolan Arenado had three hits and three RBI.  Trevor Story had two hits and two RBI, Ian Desmond had two hits and two RBI and Carlos Gonzalez had two hits and an RBI.  Chris Iannetta had a hit and drew a walk, Noel Cuevas had two hits and an RBI and Marquez had two hits and an RBI.  Arenado hit a double and Cuevas hit two doubles.  Arenado, Story, Desmond and Gonzalez each hit a homerun.  The Rockies were 4-11 with nd runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Shaw and Arenado each committed an error and Iannetta had a passed ball. 

In the first Frazier hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Story hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Desmond hit an RBI single to give the Rockies a 2-1 lead.  In the second Plawecki hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the third Arenado hit a two-run homerun to give the Rockies a 4-2 lead.  Story hit a solo homerun and Desmond hit a solo homerun to make it 6-2.  Cuevas hit an RBI double and Marquez hit an RBI single and it was 8-2 Rockies.  In the fourth Gonzalez hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 9-2.  In the fifth Cabrera hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 9-3 and Conforto hit a sac fly making it 9-4.  In the bottom of the fifth Arenado hit an RBI single to push the lead to 10-4.  In the seventh Bautista hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 10-5 and a passed ball made it 10-6.  In the ninth Nimmo hit an RBI ground out and Cabrera hit an RBI ground out to make it 10-8 and that was the final score. 

The two teams have split the first two games and will play game three on Wednesday night. 






New York Mets explode to beat the Colorado Rockies


The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 12-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched very well.  Brandon Nimmo had four hits and four RBI to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched eight innings giving up five hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out seven and won his fifth game of the season.  Paul Sewald pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Tyler Anderson lost his second game of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings and he gave up seven hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Harrison Musgrave pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Jake McGee pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Jeff Hoffman pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and five runs with three walks.  Brooks Pounders pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Nimmo had four hits and four RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and Todd Frazier had a hit.  Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI, Michael Conforto had three hits and drew a walk and Devin Mesoraco had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Jose Bautista had two RBI and drew three walks, Amed Rosario had three hits and two RBI and Conforto and Rosario each hit two doubles.  Nimmo hit two homeruns and Flores hit a homerun.  The Mets were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Conforto had a stolen base and Bautista committed an error.

In the first Nimmo hit an inside-the-park homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Bautista hit an RBI ground out to push the lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the second Parra hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fourth Flores hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 3-1.  In the seventh Nimmo hit a solo homerun to make it a 4-1 game.  In the bottom of the seventh Desmond hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the eighth Mesoraco hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 6-2 and in the ninth Mesoraco drew an RBI walk, Bautista drew an RBI walk, Rosario hit a two-run double and Nimmo hit a two-run single to make it a 12-2 game and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night. 


New York Yankees pound the Seattle Mariners


The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-2.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Aaron Hicks had three hits and Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar each had two hits to lead the offense. 

German won his second game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out nine.  A.J. Cole pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts. 

Marco Gonzales pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and six runs with a walk and five strikeouts and lost his fourth game of the season.  Nick Rumbelow pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with three strikeouts. 

Hicks had three hits and two RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Torres had two hits and an RBI and Andujar had two hits and two RBI.  Clint Frazier had a hit, Stanton, Andujar, Hicks and Torres each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Gregorius committed an error. 

Dee Gordon had a hit, Mitch Haniger had an RBI and Nelson Cruz had a hit and an RBI.  Gordon hit a double and Cruz hit a homerun and the Mariners were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left one on base.  Haniger had a stolen base. 

In the first Haniger lined into a force out and a run scored to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Stanton hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Andujar hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  Hicks hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-1.  In the seventh Cruz hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-2 and in the bottom of the seventh Judge hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 6-2 and in the eighth Torres hit a solo homerun to make it 7-2 and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Wednesday night.   

New York Yankees defeat the Washington Nationals


The New York Yankees defeated the Washington Nationals on Monday night.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. and the final score was 4-2.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched pretty well, the bullpen was great and Giancarlo Stanton had four hits and two RBI to lead the offense. 

Gray won his fifth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Jonathan Holder pitched an inning with two strikeouts, David Robertson pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and saved his 21st game of the season. 

Erick Fedde pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Fedde lost his second game of the season.  Tim Collins walked the only batter that he faced, Wander Suero pitched an inning giving up a run and a walk with a strikeout and Sammy Solis pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk.  Shawn Kelley pitched an inning with a walk and Matt Grace pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Aaron Hicks had two hits and two RBI, Aaron Judge drew two walks and Didi Gregorius had a hit.   Stanton had four hits and two RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk and Greg Bird drew two walks.  Austin Romine had a hit, Neil Walker drew a walk and Hicks and Stanton each hit a double and Hicks hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Judge had a stolen base and Gregorius was caught stealing. 

Adam Eaton had two hits, Trea Turner drew a walk and Anthony Rendon had two hits and drew a walk.  Juan Soto had two hits, Mark Reynolds had two RBI and Daniel Murphy had a hit.  Michael Taylor drew a walk, Rendon and Murphy each hit a double and the Nationals were 0-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Suero committed an error. 

In the first Stanton hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Reynolds hit an RBI ground out to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Reynolds hit a sac fly giving the Nationals a 2-1 lead.  In the fifth Hicks hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees back the lead at 3-2 and in the seventh Stanton hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 4-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost the completion of the suspended game first 5-3 and they now split the brief two-game series just like they did in New York.  They will return home to take on the Mariners for a three-game series.
