New York Yankees lose on walk-off to Chicago White Sox


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 4-3.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched great, the bullpen was bad and blew the game.  Aaron Judge and Didi Gregorius each had two hits to lead the offense and Gary Sanchez had two RBI. 

Severino pitched seven innings giving up six hits and a run with no walks and 12 strikeouts.  Domingo German pitched to two batters walking both and giving up a run, Tyler Clippard pitched an inning with two walks and two strikeouts and Dellin Betances pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and he blew his second save of the season and lost his second game of the season. 

Jose Quintana pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs.  He walked four and struck out six.  Anthony Swarzak pitched to two batters and retired them both, Tom Kahnle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout and Dan Jennings won his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Sanchez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Gregorius had two hits, Tyler Austin drew a walk and Ronald Torreyes drew a walk.  Austin Romine had a hit, Tyler Wade drew a walk and Judge and Sanchez each hit a double.  The Yankees were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Severino had a pickoff. 

Yolmer Sanchez had two hits and drew a walk, Melky Cabrera drew a walk and Jose Abreu had two hits and three RBI.  Todd Frazier had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Kevan Smith had two hits and drew a walk and Alen Hanson drew two walks.  Sanchez and Abreu each hit a double and the White Sox were 2-13 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Frazier was caught stealing and Smith committed an error and had a passed ball. 

In the third Abreu hit an RBI double to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Judge hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Sanchez hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  In the bottom of the eighth Frazier drew an RBI walk to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the bottom of the ninth Abreu hit a two-run walk-off single to give the White Sox a 4-3 victory. 

The two teams will play game three of four on Wednesday night.   

New York Mets defeat the San Francisco Giants


The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at AT+T Park in San Francisco, California and the final score was 8-2.  Rafael Montero started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen pitched well.  The Mets had seven hits who each had two hits. 

Montero pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with two walks and seven strikeouts and won his first game of the season.  Josh Edgin pitched to one batter and struck him out, Paul Sewald pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run.  Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Chasen Bradford pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one and struck out two. 

Matt Moore pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs.  He walked three and struck out five and lost his eighth game of the season.  George Kontos pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout, Cory Gearrin pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one and struck out one and Josh Osich pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Hunter Strickland pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Curtis Granderson had two hits and an RBI with three walks, Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and drew a walk and Jay Bruce had two hits and three RBI.  Wilmer Flores had two hits and drew a walk, Lucas Duda had two hits and an RBI and T.J. Rivera had two hits.  Brandon Nimmo drew two walks, Rene Rivera had two hits and three RBI and Flores and Duda each hit a double.  R. Rivera hit two homeruns, Bruce and Granderson each hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-16 with runners in scoring position and left 15 men on base. 

Denard Span had two hits, Joe Panik had a hit and drew a walk and Hunter Pence had two hits and drew a walk.  Buster Posey had two RBI, Brandon Belt had a hit and Brandon Crawford had a hit.  Gorkys Hernandez had a hit, Conor Gillaspie had a hit and drew a walk and Gillaspie hit a double.  The Giants were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Pence was caught stealing and Jones committed an error. 

In the first Bruce hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second R. Rivera hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  In the third Posey hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the fourth R. Rivera hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-1.  In the fifth Duda hit an RBI double pushing the lead to 5-1.  In the eighth Bruce hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 7-1.  In the eighth Posey hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the ninth Granderson hit a solo homerun to make it 8-2 and that was the final score.   

New York Yankees hold off Chicago White Sox for the win


The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Monday night.  The game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 6-5.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the Yankee bullpen almost blew the lead.  Chase Headley had three hits to lead the offense. 

Montgomery pitched seven innings giving up five hits and a run.  He walked one and struck out eight and won his sixth game of the season.  Jonathan Holder pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked one with a strikeout, Dellin Betances pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Chasen Shreve pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs.  Aroldis Chapman pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and he saved his eighth game of the season. 

David Holmberg pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and six runs with only two of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out two and lost his second game of the season.  Juan Minaya pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one and Michael Ynoa pitched two innings giving up a hit and he walked two with two strikeouts.

The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees comeback falls just short to the Texas Rangers


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-6.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and he pitched awful.  The Yankees bullpen was good and Chase Headley had three hits and Aaron Judge had two hits to lead the offense. 

Pineda pitched four innings giving up six hits and seven runs.  He walked one and struck out four and lost his fourth game of the season.  Tyler Webb pitched an inning giving up two walks and he struck out one, Chad Green pitched two perfect innings with a couple of strikeouts and Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts. 

Nick Martinez pitched five innings giving up six hits and four runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Martinez won his third game of the season.  Ernesto Frieri pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Jose Leclerc pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and Alex Claudio pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit.  Keone Kela pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Matt Bush saved his ninth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit, Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks and Gary Sanchez had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI, Headley had three hits and Tyler Austin had a hit.  Mason Williams had a hit, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and an RBI and Headley hit a double and Sanchez and Torreyes each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Headley was caught stealing. 

Delino DeShields had a hit and drew a walk, Shin-Soo Choo had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk and Elvis Andrus had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Adrian Beltre had a hit and two RBI, Roughned Odor had a hit and Jonathan Lucroy had a hit.  Drew Robinson had two hits and an RBI, DeShields and Robinson each hit a double and Beltre, Choo and Robinson each hit a homerun.  The Rangers were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Odor had a stolen base and Choo had an outfield assist. 

In the first Andrus hit an RBI single to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead.  Beltre hit a two-run homerun to make it 3-0.  In the second Choo hit a three-run homerun to extend the lead to 6-0.  In the fourth Robinson hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 7-0.  In the fifth Judge hit an RBI single, Sanchez hit a three-run homerun and the lead was cut to 7-4.  In the seventh Torreyes hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-5 and Gregorius hit an RBI single to make it 7-6.  That was as close as the Yankees got as their comeback fell just short and they lost two out of three in the series. 

They will head to Chicago to begin a four game set on Monday night.   

New York Yankees get blown out by the Texas Rangers


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-1.  Luis Cessa started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, Tyler Clippard had another rough outing out of the bullpen.  The Yankees offense only managed five hits. 

Cessa took his second loss of the season pitching five innings and giving up three hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out eight.  Jonathan Holder pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts, Tyler Webb pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings with a strikeout and Clippard pitched an inning giving up three hits and four runs with two walks and a strikeout. 

Austin Bibens-Dirkx pitched seven innings giving up five hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  He won his third game of the season.  Alex Claudio pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Keone Kela pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Mason Williams had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Starlin Castro had a hit.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Austin Romine had a hit and Judge hit a homerun.   The Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Williams had two stolen bases. 

Delino DeShields had a hit and drew a walk, Shin-Soo Choo had a hit and two RBI and Elvis Andrus had two hits and two RBI.  Adrian Beltre had two hits and drew a walk, Carlos Gomez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Robinson Chirinos had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Beltre, Choo and Andrus each hit a double and Gomez and Chirinos each hit a homerun.  The Rangers were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  DeShields and Gomez each had a stolen base. 

In the first Andrus hit an RBI single to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Gomez hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.  Judge hit a solo homerun in the sixth to cut the lead to 3-1.  Chirinos hit a solo homerun in the seventh to push the lead to 4-1.  In the ninth a wild pitch made it 5-1 and Choo hit a two-run double and Andrus an RBI double to give the Rangers a 8-1 lead which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.

New York Yankees win on a walk-off hit in extra innings


The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1 in ten innings.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  The Yankees bullpen did their job and Brett Gardner and Gary Sanchez each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched eight innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked two and struck out nine.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with two strikeouts, Chad Green pitched 1/3 of an inning and walked a batter and Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and won his second game of the season. 

Yu Darvish pitched seven innings giving up two hits and no runs with no walks and ten strikeouts.  Tanner Scheppers pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Bush pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with two strikeouts and he blew his fourth save of the season and lost his third game of the season. 

Gardner had two hits and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and Sanchez had two hits.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and an RBI and Gardner hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and Gregorius committed an error and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Shin-Soo Choo drew a walk, Elvis Andrus had two hits and Jonathan Lucroy had two hits.  Mike Napoli drew three walks and the Rangers were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Andrus had a stolen base and was caught stealing. 

In the ninth a passed ball allowed the Rangers to score a run and take a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth Gardner hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one and in the tenth Torreyes hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 2-1 walk-off win.

New York Mets lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers again


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night.  The game took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 6-3.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Curtis Granderson had two hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up three hits and three runs with five walks and eight strikeouts.  Paul Sewald pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and lost his second game of the season, Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning with three walks and Fernando Salas pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched five innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Chris Hatcher pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk, Grant Dayton pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he had a strikeout and Pedro Baez pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and won his first game of the season.  Luis Avilan pitched to one batter and walked him and Kenley Jansen pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings. 

Granderson had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and Jay Bruce drew a walk.  Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and an RBI, Lucas Duda had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Jose Reyes had a hit.  Gavin Cecchini had a hit, Brandon Nimmo drew a walk and Granderson and Duda each hit a double.  Granderson and d’Arnaud each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Flores committed an error. 

Logan Forsythe had a hit and drew a walk, Chris Taylor drew a walk and Justin Turner had a hit and an RBI.  Cody Bellinger had a hit and drew a walk, Enrique Hernandez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Baez had an RBI and drew a walk.  Austin Barnes had an RBI and drew three walks, Yasiel Puig drew a walk and Joc Pederson had two hits and an RBI.  Bellinger hit a double and Turner, Hernandez and Pederson each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Barnes had two stolen bases and Bellinger had a stolen base.  Pederson was caught stealing and Bellinger committed an error.  Hernandez had an outfield assist. 

In the first Granderson hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Turner hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Hernandez hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 3-1.  In the fourth d’Arnaud hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the sixth Duda hit an RBI double to tie the game at three.  In the seventh Pederson hit a solo homerun to give the Dodgers back the lead at 4-3.  Baez drew an RBI walk and it was 5-3.  Barnes drew an RBI walk to make it 6-3 and that was the final score of the game. 

New York Mets are defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 8-2.  Tyler Pill started for the Mets and didn’t pitch well.  Curtis Granderson had three hits to lead the offense. 

Pill pitched six innings giving up five hits and six runs with five of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out six and took his third loss of the season.  Neil Ramirez pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts and Erik Goeddel pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Rich Hill won his fourth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up four hits and a run.  He walked three and struck out eight.  Sergio Romo pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Grant Dayton pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Brandon Morrow pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Luis Avilan pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.

Rivera and Bruce each committed an error. 

Corey Seager had a hit and drew a walk, Cody Bellinger had a hit and Logan Forsythe had a hit and an RBI.  Yasmani Grandal had two hits and two RBI, Joc Pederson drew three walks and Yasiel Puig had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Hill had an RBI, Austin Barnes had a hit and an RBI and Bellinger and Forsythe each hit a double.  Puig hit a homerun and Grandal hit two homeruns.  The Dodgers were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Seager had a stolen base and Utley committed an error. 

In the first Granderson hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Hill hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Forsythe hit an RBI double to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead, Puig hit a three-run homerun to push the Dodgers lead to 5-1.  In the sixth Grandal hit a solo homerun and it was 6-1.  In the bottom of the eighth Grandal hit another solo homerun to make it 7-1.  Barnes hit an RBI single and it was 8-1 Dodgers.  In the ninth Granderson hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 8-2 and that was the final score.

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-5.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  Chris Carter had two hits and Aaron Judge had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched six innings giving up eight hits and six runs with five of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five and took his third loss of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and retired him, Dellin Betances pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts and Domingo German pitched two innings giving up a hit and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out three. 

Jesse Chavez pitched four innings giving up seven hits and five runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Yusmeiro Petit pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts and he won his second game of the season, Cam Bedrosian pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Keynana Middleton pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  David Hernandez pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.

In the first Maybin hit a solo homerun giving the Angels a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Castro hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the second Gardner hit into an RBI ground out to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  Judge hit a three-run homerun in the second and the lead was extended to 5-1.  In the third Pujols hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-2 and Escobar hit an RBI single to make it 5-3.  In the sixth Valbuena hit an RBI single to make it 5-4.  In the seventh Calhoun hit a sac fly to tie the game at five.  Pujols hit an RBI single and Simmons hit a two-run double and it was 8-5 Angels.  In the eighth a throwing error by the pitcher allowed a run to score and Calhoun hit a sac fly to extend the Angels lead to 10-5 and that would be the final score.
