The New York Mets lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers as Jon Niese wife goes into child labor



The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-2 Dodgers.  Jon Niese started but didn't pitch very well, he was a little distracted as his wife went into labor and had a baby before he could get to the hospital.  Ruben Tejada had two hits to lead the offense. 

Niese pitched three innings giving up eight hits and six runs with a walk and a strikeout.  NIese lost his ninth game of the season, Carlos Torres pitched three innings giving up three hits and he struck out two, Hansel Robles pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and Alex Torres pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Ian Thomas pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run with five strikeouts.  Thomas won his first game of the season, Joel Peralta pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and a run, Juan Nicasio pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out one and Pedro Baez pitched an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout.  Josh Ravin pitched a perfect inning. 

Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Tejada had two hits and Daniel Murphy had a hit and an RBI.  Wilmer Flores had a hit, Lucas Duda had a hit and Juan Lagares had a hit.  Michael Conforto had an RBI, Duda hit a double and the Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Joc Pederson had a hit and an RBI, Howie Kendrick ahd a hit and Justin Turner had three hits and two RBI.  Scott Van Slyke had a hit, Yasiel Puig had a hit and two RBI and Enrique Hernandez had two hits.  Jimmy Rollins had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Austin Barnes had a hit and Turner hit two doubles.  Pederson and Barnes each hit a double and Turner, Puig and Rollins each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Turner hit an RBI double to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.  In the second Thomas hit a groundout that scored a run and made it 2-0 Dodgers.  Pederson hit an RBI double to make it 3-0.  Turner hit a solo homerun in the third to push the lead to 4-0 Dodgers.  Puig hit a two run homerun making it 6-0.  In the fifth Conforto hit an RBI groundout to make it 6-1 and it was Conforto first MLB RBI.  In the sixth Murphy hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the eighth Rollins hit a solo homerun to make it 7-2 Dodgers and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday night. 

The New York Yankees defeat the Minnesota Twins with a great comeback



The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night.  The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the final score was 8-5.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and wasn't very good.  Adam Warren was great out of the pen.  Alex Rodriguez led the offense with three homeruns and John Ryan Murphy hit the game winning homerun. 

Sabathia pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Warren won his sixth game of the season pitching 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Andrew Miller saved his 23rd game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Tommy Milone pitched six innings giving up four hits and four runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Brian Duensing pitched a pefect inning, Trevor May pitched an inning giving ujp a hit and he struck out one and Glen Perkins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up five hits and four runs.  Perkins blew his second save of the season and took his second  loss of the season.  Ryan O'Rourke retired the only batter that he faced. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Chris Young had a hit and drew a walk and Rodriguez had three hits and four RBI.  Mark Teixeira had two hits, Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI and Murphy had a hit and three RBI.  Stephen Drew had a hit, Young and Teixeira each hit a double and Rodriguez hit three homeruns.  Murphy hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Drew committed an error. 

Brian Dozier had a hit and drew two walks, Aaron Hicks had two hits and two RBI and Miguel Sano had a hit and drew a walk.  Torii Hunter had a hit and three RBI, Shane Robinson had a hit and Kurt Suzuki had a hit and drew a walk.  Hicks and Hunter each hit a homerun and the Twins were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  May committed an error. 

In the first Hicks hit a two run homerun to give the Twins a 2-0 lead.  In the third Hunter hit a three run homerun and it was 5-0 Twins.  Rodriguez hit a solo homerun in the fourth to make it 5-1 and in the seventh he hit a two run homerun to make it 5-3 Twins.  Headley hit a sac fly in the seventh to make it a 5-4 game.  In the ninth Rodriguez hit his third homerun of the game a solo shot to tie the game at five.  Murphy hit a three run homerun to make it 8-5 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon. 

The New York Yankees get blown out in Minnesota



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Minnesota Twins on Friday night.  The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the final score was 10-1.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and didn't pitch well.  Mark Teixeira had three hits, Didi Gregorius and Stephen Drew each had two hits but all the Yankees hits were singles. 

Pineda pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and five runs with no walks and four strikeouts.  Pineda lost his seventh game of the season.  Branden Pinder pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Chris Capuano pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs with a strikeout. 

Phil Hughes won his ninth game of the season pitching seven innings giving up seven hits and no runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Brian Duensing pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one and Casey Fien pitched an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had an RBI, Brett Gardner had a hit and Alex Rodriguez had a hit.  Teixeira had three hits, Brian McCann drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit.  Gregorius had two hits, Drew had two hits and the Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Teixeira had a stolen base. 

Brian Dozier had a hit and two RBI, Torii Hunter had two hits and an RBI and Joe Mauer had a hit.  Miguel Sano had a hit and two RBI, Trevor Plouffe had three hits and an RBI and Eddie Rosario had three hits.  Aaron Hicks had a hit and two RBI, Kurt Suzuki had two hits and two RBI and Rosario hit three doubles, Plouffe and Mauer each hit a double.  Sano, Hunter, Plouffe and Dozier each hit a homerun and the Twins were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Rosario committed an error.   

In the first Sano hit a two run homerun giving the Twins a 2-0 lead.  In the second Suzuki hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fourth Hicks hit a sac fly to increase the lead to 4-0 for the Twins.  Suzuki hit an RBI single making it 5-0 and then in the seventh Hunter hit a solo homerun to make it a 6-0 game.  In the eighth Plouffe hit a solo homerun making it 7-0 Twins.  Hicks hit an RBI single  and Dozier hit a two run homerun making it 10-0 in the eighth inning.  In the ninth Ellsbury hit a sac fly to break the shutout and make it a 10-1 game but that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

The New York Yankees sweep the Baltimore Orioles



The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-3.  Masahiro Tanaka started and pitched well.  Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits, Didi Gregorius and John Ryan Murphy also had three hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up three runs on five hits.  He didn't walk a batter and he struck otu seven and earned his seventh win of the season.  Chris Capuano pitched an inning with a strikeout and Branden Pinder retired the only batter that he faced. 

Ubaldo Jimenez lost his sixth game of the season pitching 2 1/3 innings and giving up eight hits and seven runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Tommy Hunter pitched 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts, Bud Norris pitched two innings giving up four hits and two runs with two strikeouts and Chaz Roe pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Zach Britton pitched a perfect inning. 

Ellsbury had three hits and four RBI, Brett Gardner drew a walk and Ale Rodriguez drew a walk.  Mark Teixeira drew a walk, Carlos Beltran had a hit and Chase Headley had two hits and three RBI.  Gregorius had three hits and an RBI, Murphy had three hits and Stephen Drew had a hit and an RBI.  Headley, Drew and Ellsbury each hit a double and Ellsbury hit a homerun.  The Yankees were4-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Manny Machado had a hit and an RBI, Jimmy Paredes had a hit and Chris Davis had two hits and an RBI.  J.J. Hardy had a hit and an RBI, Davis and Paredes each hit a double and Davis, Hardy and Machado each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base. 

In the first Headley hit a three run double giving the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  Gregorius hit an RBI single to make it 4-0 Yankees.  In the second Davis hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  Ellsbury hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the second to increase the lead to 5-1 Yankees.  In the third Drew hit an RBI double to make it a 6-1 game.  Ellsbury hit a sac fly and it was 7-1 Yankees.  In the fifth Ellsbury hit a two run double to make it a 9-1 game.  In the eighth Hardy and Machado each hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 9-3 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees swept the three game series to stretch their lead in the AL East over the Orioles to seven games.  The Yankees will now head out on a ten game road trip through Minnesota, Texas and Chicago. 

The New York Mets are shutout by Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers



The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0 Dodgers.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched well and the offense managed just three hits. 

Colon pitched eight innings giving up five hits and a run with no walks and four strikeouts.  Colon lost his ninth game of the season.  Sean Gilmartin pitched giving up three hits and two runs without recording an out and Carlos Torres pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two. 

Clayton Kershaw pitched a complete game giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and 11 strikeouts. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Lucas Duda had a hit.  The Mets were 0-2 with runners in scoring positiona nd left two men on base.  Duda was caught stealing.

In the third Rollins hit a solo homerun giving the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Callaspo had an RBI walk and Puig hit a sac fly to make it 3-0 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.

The New York Mets blow a late lead and suffer a tough loss to the Washington Nationals



The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 4-3.   Noah Syndergaard pitched five innings giving up five hits and a run with five walks and four strikeouts.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Jennry Mejia pitched an inning with a strikeout and Bobby Parnell pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout. 

Jordan Zimmermann pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and three runs with six strikeouts.  Matt Thornton earned his first win of the season pitching a perfect inning and Drew Storen pitched a perfect inning striking out the side for his 29th save of the season. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Ruben Tejada had a hit and Daniel Murphy had two hits.  Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a hit and two RBI, Kevin Plawecki had a hit and an RBI and Juan Lagares had a hit.  Nieuwenhuis hit a double and the Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Michael Taylor had two hits and three RBI, Danny Espinosa had a hit and an RBI and Bryce Harper had two hits and drew a walk.  Dan Uggla drew a walk, Clint Robinson drew a walk and Wilson Ramos had a hit.  Ian Desmond had two hits and drew two walks, Matt den Dekker had a hit and drew three walks and Espinosa hit a double.  The Nationals were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Desmond and Taylor each had a stolen base. 

In the fourth Nieuwenhuis hit a two run double giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Plawecki hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Taylor hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the eighth Taylor hit a two run single to tie the game at three.  Espinosa hit an RBI double to make it 4-3 Nationals in the eighth and that was the final score. 

The Mets lost two out of three in the series and are now three games back in the NL East.  They were four outs away from being one game out.

The New York Yankees take their second straight over the Baltimore Orioles



The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and pitched well.  The bullpen was great and Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez each hit a homerun. 

Nova pitched six innings giving up two runs on three hits.  He walked three and struck out three.  Nova won his second game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched a perfect inning, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and he struck out two.  Miller earned his 22nd save of the season. 

Kevin Gausman pitched six innings giving up six hits and four runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Gausman lost his second game of the season.  Brad Brach pitched a perfect inning and Bud Norris pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI and Rodriguez had a hit and an RBI.  Mark Teixeira had two hits and two RBI, Brian McCann had a hit and Carlos Beltran had a hit and drew a walk.  Stephen Drew had a walk, Ellsbury, Beltran and Teixeira each hit a double and Teixeira and Rodriguez each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Manny Machado had a hit and drew a walk, Chris Davis had a hit and an RBI and J.J. Hardy had a hit and drew a walk.  Ryan Flaherty had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Machado hit a double and Flaherty and Davis each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Machado had a stolen base. 

In the first Gardner hit an RBI single and Teixeira a two run homerun to give the Yankees a quick 3-0 lead.  In the third Flaherty hit a two run homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the fifth Rodriguez hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 4-2 and in the ninth Davis hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-3 but that would be the final score.  The Yankees have won the first two games of the three game series.  The Yankees will go for the series sweep on Thursday afternoon with Masahiro Tanaka taking the mound. 

The New York Yankees win a close one over the Baltimore Orioles



The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-2 Yankees.  Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and pitched pretty well.  The Yankees bullpen was great and Chase Headley had two hits to lead the offense. 

Eovaldi pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up two runs on four hits.  He walked three and struck out four.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up two hits and no runs with no walks and no strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Andrew Miller picked up his 21st save pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Wei-Yin Chen pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up ten hits and three runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Chen suffered his sixth loss of the season.  Tommy Hunter pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout and Brian Matusz pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Brett Gardner had a hit and Alex Rodriguez had an RBI and drew a walk.  Mark Teixeira had two hits, Brian McCann had a hit and drew a walk and Chris Young had two hits.  Headley had two hits and an RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Brendan Ryan had a hit and an RBI.  Ellsbury, Headley and Ryan each hit a double.  Teixeira hit two doubles and the Yankees were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.   Young had an outfield assist and Eovaldi had a pickoff.

In the first Rodriguez hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Headley hit an RBI double to increase the Yankees lead to 2-0.  In the sixth the Orioles tied the score at two.  Wieters hit an RBI single and Hardy hit an RBI single.  In the bottom of the sixth Ryan hit an RBI double to give the Yankees the 3-2 lead and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees take rubber game from the Seattle Mariners



The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1 Yankees.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and pitched very well and the bullpen did it's job.  Mark Teixeira had three hits to lead the offense. 

Sabathia pitched six innings giving up six hits and a run with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Dellin Betances won his sixth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up two walks and Andrew Miller recorded his 20th save of the season pitching a perfect inning including two strikeouts. 

Felix Hernandez pitched six innings giving up five hits and a run with three walks and five strikeouts.  Vidal Nuno pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings and Fernando Rodney pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and he took his fourth loss of the season. 

Brett Gardner drew two walks, Alex Rodriguez had a hit and Teixeira had three hits and an RBI.  Carlos Beltran had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Chase Headley had a hit including a double and Mark Teixeira hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Austin Jackson had a hit and an RBI, Kyle Seager had a hit and Robinson Cano drew a walk.  Nelson Cruz had a hit, Franklin Gutierrez had a hit and Seth Smith drew a walk.  Jesus Montero had two hits and drew a walk and Chris Taylor had a hit.  The Mariners were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left -

In the fifth Jackson hit an RBI single to give the Mariners a  1-0 lead.  In the sith Beltran hit an RBI single to tie the game at one and then in the eighth Teixeira hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The Yankees took two out of three in the series and will be off on Monday before beginning a three game set with the Baltimore Orioles at home on Tuesday night. 

The New York Mets are beat up by the Washington Nationals in opening game of big series



The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Monday night.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 7-2 Washington.  Matt Harvey started and wasn't very good, the bullpen wasn't good either.  The only plus of the pitching was that they only used two pitchers in the game.  Juan Lagares had two hits and Matt Harvey had two RBI to lead the offense. 

Harvey pitched seven innings giving up five hits and five runs wtih four of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out three.  Alex Torres pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout. 

Gio Gonzalez pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  He won his seventh game of the season.  Matt Thornton pitched a perfect inning, Casey Jansen pitched an inning giving up a hit and Drew Storen pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two.

Daniel Espinosa had two hits, Bryce Harper drew two walks and Yunel Escobar had a hit and an RBI.  Clint Robinson had two hits and two RBI, Ian Desmond had two hits and two RBI and Jose Lobaton drew a walk.  Matthew den Dekker drew a walk, Robinson hit a double and Desmond hit a homerun.  The Nationals were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the first Escobar hit an RBI single giving the Nationals a 1-0 lead and then got thrown out at second but a run scored to make it 2-0 Nationals.  In the third Robinson hit a two run double to make it 4-0.  In the third Desmond hit an RBI single to push the lead to 5-0.  In the fourth Harvey hit a two run single to cut the lead down to 5-2 which would be as close as it would get.  In the eighth Desmond hit a two run homerun to make it 7-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.  Jacob deGrom will get the start for the Mets and the Nationals don't have an announced pitcher yet.

The New York Mets win a wild 18 inning game in St. Louis



The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon/evening.  The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri and the final score was 3-1 Mets.  Jon Niese started for the Mets and pitched well and the bullpen was good.  Wilmer Flores and Ruben Tejada each had three hits and a few guys had two hits to lead the offense. 

Niese pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up five hits and no runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Bobby Parnell pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out one, Jennry Mejia pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a walk.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with three strikeouts, Sean Gilmartin pitched three innings giving up a hit and two walks with four strikeouts and Carlos Torres won his third game of the season.  he pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three. 

Tim Cooney pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs with four walks and seven strikeouts.  Seth Maness pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Randy Choate pitched 1/3 of an inning striking out his only batter and Sam Tuivailala pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Kevin Siegrist pitched an inning giving up a walk, Miguel Socolovich pitched an inning giving up a hit and Carlos Villanueva pitched four innings giving up five hits and a run with three walks and three strikeouts.  Carlos Martinez took the loss and he pitched four innings giving up five hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out two and it was his fourth loss of the season. 

Juan Lagares had two hits, Daniel Murphy had a hit and drew two walks and Michael Cuddyer had a hit and drew a walk.  Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a hit, Sean Gilmartin had a hit and Jacob deGrom drew a walk.  Lucas Duda drew two walks, Wilmer Flores had three hits and John Mayberry Jr. drew a walk.  Curtis Granderson had two hits and drew two walks, Kevin Plawecki had two hits and an RBI, Tejada had three hits, an RBI and drew two walks and Eric Campbell had an RBI and drew two walks.  Flores, Tejada, Nieuwenhuis and Granderson each hit a double adn the Mets were 1-26 with runners in scoring position and left 25 men on base.  Granderson had two stolen bases and Campbell was caught stealing. 

Kolten Wong had a hit and an RBI, Randal Grichuk had a hit and Jhonny Peralta had two hits and drew a walk.  Mark Reynolds had three hits, Yadier Molina had two hits and Tommy Pham had a hit and drew a walk.  Peter Bourjos had a hit and drew three walks, Cooney had two hits and Grichuk hit a double.  Wong hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on base.  Peralta was caught stealing, Martinez committed an error and Siegrist had a pickoff. 

In the thirteenth Plawecki hit an RBI single to break a scoreless tie and give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the 13th Wong hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the 18th Tejada hit a sac fly giving the Mets a 2-1 lead and Campbell hit a sac bunt for an RBI to make it 3-1.  The play was challenged and went to a replay but the call stood and the Mets 3-1 lead was the final score of the game.  The Mets were able to salvage the final game in the three game series and will head to Washington to take on the Nationals in a big three game series beginning on Monday night.

The New York Yankees are beaten by old friend Robinson Cano and the Seattle Mariners



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Seattle Mariners on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-3 Seattle.  Michael Pineda started and he wasn't very sharp.  The Yankees offense was led by Mark Teixeira who had two hits and Brian McCann who hit a two run homerun. 

Pineda pitched six innings giving up six hits and four runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  He lost his sixth game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out one and Adam Warren pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Hisashi Iwakuma pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with five strikeouts.  Iwakuma won his second game of the season.  Joe Beimel pitched to one batter and retired him, Mark Lowe pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Vidal Nuno retired the only two batters that he faced and he struck out one.  Fernando Rodney pitched to one batter and retired him and Carson Smith pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and he struck out two and earned his seventh save of the season. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Brett Gardner had a hit and Teixeira had two hits.  McCann had a hit and two RBI, Chase Headley had a hit and Garrett Jones had an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit which was a double and Teixeira hit a double.  McCann hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Brad Miller had a hit, Kyle Seager had a hit and Robinson Can had three hits and four RBI.  Nelson Cruz had a hit and drew two walks, Austin Jackson drew a walk and Mark Trumbo had a hit.  Cano hit two homeruns and the Mariners were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Taylor had a stolen base and Jackson was caught stealing. 

In the first Cano hit a two run homerun to give the Mariners a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth McCann hit a two run homerun to tie the game at two.  Cano hit a two run homerun in the sixth to give the Mariners a 4-2 lead and in the ninth Jones had an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 4-3 but that would be how the game ended.  The two teams have split the first two games and the rubber game will be on Sunday afternoon.

The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-3 Yankees.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched well.  Alex Rodriguez and Chris Young each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up five hits and three runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Tanaka won his sixth game of the season.  Dellin Betances pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Andrew Miller saved his 19th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and striking out one. 

Mike Montgomery pitched six innings giving up seven hits and three runs with three walks and nine strikeouts.  Joe Beimel lost his first game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts, Tom Wilhelmsen pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and Vidal Nuno retired the only two batters he faced and had a strikeout.

Kyle Seager had two hits and three RBI, Seth Smith drew a walk and Austin Jackson had two hits.  Mark Trumbo had a hit, Logan Morrison drw a walk and Mike Zunino had a hit.  Seager hit two homeruns and the Mariners were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Zunino committed an error. 

In the second Young hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Seager hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Headley hit an RBI single in the fourth to give the Yankees back the lead at 2-1.  Seager hit a two run homerun in the fifth to give the Mariners a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth McCann hit an RBI single to tie the game at three and in the seventh Rodriguez hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead which would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.
