New York Mets double up the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 8-4.  Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Robinson Cano had three hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched five innings giving up seven hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Wheeler picked up his 10th win of the season.  Jeurys Familia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout, Luis Avilan pitched to one batter and struck him out and Seth Lugo pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out one.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning with a walk. 

Anibal Sanchez lost his seventh game of the season pitching five innings and giving up eight hits and seven runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Hunter Strickland pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked a batter, Wander Suero pitched an inning giving up a hit and Fernando Rodney pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk.  Sean Doolittle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk. 

Jeff McNeil had two hits and two RBI, Pete Alonso had a hit and an RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Wilson Ramos drew a walk, Cano had three hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Todd Frazier drew a walk.  J.D. Davis had two hits, Joe Panik had a hit and Amed Rosario had two hits and an RBI.  Juan Lagares had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Brandon Nimmo drew two walks and Conforto and Davis each hit a double.  Lagares, Cano and Alonso each hit a homerun and the Mets were 4-13 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base. 

Trea Turner had two hits and an RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Anthony Rendon had two hits and two RBI.  Juan Soto had a hit and drew a walk, Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and Kurt Suzuki drew a walk.  Victor Robles had a hit, Gerardo Parra had a hit and drew a walk and Sanchez had a hit.  Andrew Stevenson drew a walk, Howie Kendrick had a hit and Rendon and Robles each hit a  double.  The Nationals were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Robles committed an error and Parra had an outfield assist. 

In the second Turner hit an RBI single to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the third Lagares hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Cano hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 3-1 lead.  In the fifth Alonso hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 4-1.  In the sixth Rosario hit a two-run single making it 6-1.  McNeil hit an RBI single and it was 7-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Cabrera hit an RBI single and Rendon hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 7-4.  In the eighth McNeil hit an RBI single to make it 8-4 and that was the final score of the game.

New York Yankees defeat the Texas Rangers to win another home series


 The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-1.  Chad Green served as the opener and pitched well, the bullpen also pitched well behind him.  Austin Romine had two hits to lead the offense and Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres each hit a homerun. 

Green pitched two scoreless innings giving up two hits and a walk.  He struck out four batters.  Luis Cessa picked up his second win of the season pitching three innings and giving up two hits and no runs with three strikeouts, Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Cory Gearrin pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

Lance Lynn lost his 10th game of the season pitching five innings and giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Taylor Guerrieri pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks, Ian Gibaut pitched 1 2/3 innings with a strikeout and Luke Farrell pitched an inning with two strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner drew two walks and Judge had a hit and two RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Mike Ford drew a walk and Torres had a hit and an RBI and Mike Tauchman had a hit and drew a walk.  Romine had two hits and an RBI and Tyler Wade drew a walk.  Romine hit a double and Judge and Torres each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Judge had an outfield assist. 

Shin-Soo Choo had a hit, Elvis Andrus drew a walk and Willie Calhoun drew a walk.  Nick Solak had two hits, Rougned Odor had two hits and an RBI and Ronald Guzman had two hits.  Odor hit a homerun and the Rangers were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the third Judge hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Torres hit a solo homerun to push their lead to 3-0.  In the sixth Romine hit an RBI double to increase the lead to 4-0.  In the ninth Odor hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1 and that was the final score. 

The Yankees took two out of three in the series.  They have now gone 18-0-3 in their last 21 series at home.  They will have an off day on Thursday and head to Boston on Friday night to begin a four-game series. 


The New York Mets blow big lead in the ninth to lose to the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 11-10.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen was bad and Pete Alonso had three hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up eight hits and four runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Seth Lugo pitched an inning, Paul Sewald pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up four this and four runs and Luis Avilan pitched giving up a hit and a run without recording an out.  Edwin Diaz pitched giving up two hits and two runs and he lost his seventh game of the season.  Diaz also blew his sixth save of the season. 

Max Scherzer pitched six innings giving up five hits and four runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Wander Suero pitched an inning giving up a walk, Roenis Elias pitched an inning giving up four hits and three runs with two of them being earned and Daniel Hudson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three unearned runs.  Javy Guerra pitched to one batter and got him out. 

Jeff McNeil had two hits and three RBI, Alonso had three hits and two RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and an RBI, Brandon Nimmo had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Joe Panik had two hits and two RBI.  Todd Frazier drew a walk, Luis Guillorme had a hit and drew a walk and Ramos and Guillorme each hit a double.  Panik, McNeil, Nimmo and Alonso each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-8 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Nimmo had a stolen base and Guillorme was picked off.

In the first Soto hit an RBI double and the Nationals had a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Ramos hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  Nimmo hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 2-1 lead, Panik hit a two-run homerun to push it to a 4-1 lead.  In the sixth Suzuki hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the eighth McNeil hit a solo homerun and it was 5-2 Mets.  In the bottom of the eighth Soto hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 5-4.  In the ninth Nimmo hit a solo homerun, McNeil hit a two-run single and Alonso hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 10-4 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth Turner hit an RBI double, Rendon hit an RBI single and Zimmerman hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 10-8  Suzuki hit a three-run walk-off homerun to give the Nationals an 11-10 victory.

New York Mets defeat the Washington Nationals


 The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Monday.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C.  Noah Syndergaard made the start for the Mets and he pitched great and J.D. Davis had three hits to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs with ten strikeouts.  Syndergaard won his 10th game of the season.  Tyler Bashlor pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout and Edwin Diaz pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Joe Ross pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and seven runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Ross lost his fourth game of the season.  Austin Voth pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out four, Erick Fedde pitched two innings giving up two walks and he struck out two and Tanner Rainey pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.

Jeff McNeil had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Pete Alonso had a hit and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Davis had three hits and two RBI, Brandon Nimmo had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Amed Rosario had a hit.  Joe Panik had a hit and an RBI, Rene Rivera had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Luis Guillorme drew a walk.  Panik, Davis and Nimmo each hit a homerun and McNeil hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Trea Turner had two hits, Anthony Rendon had a hit and drew a walk and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and three RBI.  Andrew Stevenson had a hit, Rendon hti a double and Cabrera hit a homerun.  The Nationals were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Turner had a stolen base and Soto committed an error. 

In the second Panik hit an RBI double, Rivera hit an RBI single and the Mets lead was 2-0.  In the fourth McNeil hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  Davis hit a two-run double and Nimmo hit an RBI double and the lead was 7-0.  In the bottom of the ninth Cabrera hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 7-3.

New York Yankees pound the Texas Rangers


The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-1.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched great and Gary Sanchez led the offense with a couple of homeruns. 

Paxton pitched seven innings giving up a hit and no runs with a walk and 12 strikeouts.  Paxton won his 12th game of the season.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Edinson Volquez pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and he took his first loss of the season.  Ariel Jurado pitched four innings giving up seven hits and five runs with three strikeouts, Jonathan Hernandez pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Rafael Montero pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a strikeout.  Jose Leclerc pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit and three RBI.  Sanchez had two hits and three RBI, Edwin Encarnacion had two hits and two RBI and Brett Gardner had a hit and two RBI.  Luke Voit had a hit and drew a walk, Tyler Wade had two hits and Sanchez hit at wo homeruns.  Gregorius, Gardner and Encarnacion each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Scott Heineman had a hit and an RBI, Willie Calhoun had a hit and drew a walk and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit and drew a walk.  Heineman hit a homerun and the Rangers left three men on base.  Trevino had a passed ball. 

In the first Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Gregorius hit a three-run homerun immediately followed by a solo homerun from Sanchez to push the Yankees lead to 6-0.  Gardner hit a two-run homerun a couple of batters later and it was 8-0.  In the seventh Encarnacion hit a two-run homerun making it 10-0.  In the ninth Heineman hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 10-1 and that would be the final score. 

The rubber game of the three-game series will be on Wednesday night. 

New York Yankees are shutout by the Texas Rangers


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-0.  It was the first time the Yankees were shutout in 220 games and second longest streak all-time.  Masahiro Tanaka started and he pitched well, the bullpen did not pitch well and Mike Tauchman led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Tanaka lost his eighth game of the season.  Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched two innings giving up three hits and our runs with a walk and three strikeouts and Tyler Lyons pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Mike Minor won his 12th game of the season pitching 7 1/3 innings giving up five hits and no runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Shawn Kelley pitched 2/3 of an inning and Emmanuel Clase pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Gleyber Torres drew a walk, Gary Sanchez had a hit and Mike Ford had a hit.  Luke Voit had a hit, Tauchman had two hits and Tyler Wade had a hit.  Sanchez and Voit each hit a double and the Yankees were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Voit committed an error and Frazier had an outfield assist. 

Shin-Soo Choo had two hits and an RBI, Elvis Andrus had three hits and Willie Calhoun had a hit.  Nomar Mazara had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Danny Santana had two hits and Rougned Odor drew a walk.  Ronald Guzman had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Delino Deshields had a hit and three RBI and Jose Trevino had a hit and an RBI.  Choo hit a double, Trevino, DeShields and Choo each hit a homerun and the Rangers were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Mazara hit a sac fly to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Trevino hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  In the eighth Guzman hit an RBI single and DeShields hit a three-run homerun to extend the lead to 6-0.  In the ninth Choo hit a solo homerun to make it 7-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.
