New York Mets defeat the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-0.  Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and pitched great.  Jeff McNeil and J.D. Davis each had two hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Wheeler pitched eight innings giving up eight hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out five.  Wheeler won his ninth game of the season and Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Hector Noesi pitched five innings giving up five hits and five runs with three walks and three strikeouts and he lost his first game of the season.  Adam Conley pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Jose Quijada pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two and Ryne Stanek pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

McNeil had two hits and drew a walk, Davis had two hits and drew a walk and Pete Alonso had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and three RBI, Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI and Luis Guillorme had a hit.  Frazier, Davis and Guillorme each hit a double and Ramos and Alonso each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Guillorme committed an error. 

Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Jon Berti had two hits and Garrett Cooper had two hits.  Starlin Castro had a hit, Lewis Brinson had two hits and Noesi had a hit.  Martin Prado had a hit, Berti hit two doubles and the Marlins were 0-13 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Frazier hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Ramos hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  In the fifth Alonso hit a solo homerun and it was 5-0 which would be the final score. 

New York Yankees sweep the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 14-2.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and pitched well and Cameron Maybin had four hits and Gio Urshela had three hits to lead the offense. 

Paxton pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Paxton won his seventh game of the season.  Chance Adams pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

John Means pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  He lost his seventh game of the season.  Miguel Castro pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one, Taylor Scott pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and four runs with a  walk, Tom Eshelman pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two being earned and a walk and strikeout.  David Hess pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Urshela had three hits and four RBI.  Didi Gregorius had two hits, Maybin had four hits and two RBI and Brett Gardner had two hits and an RBI.  Kyle Higashioka had two hits and five RBI, Mike Tauchman drew two walks and Breyvic Valera drew a walk.  Gardner hit two doubles and Urshela hit a double.  Higashioka hit two homeruns, Urshela hit two homeruns and Maybin hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 6-12 with runners in scoring position and left 5 men on base.  Tauchman and Maybin each had a stolen base. 

Hanser Alberto drew a walk, Trey Mancini had a hit and an RBI and Jonathan Villar had a hit and drew a walk.  Stevie Wilkerson had two hits and an RBI, Jace Peterson had a hit and Richie Martin had a hit.  Wilkerson hit a double and Mancini hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Villar and Eshelman each committed an error. 

In the fourth Maybin hit an RBI single and Higashioka hit a three-run homerun giving the Yankees a 4-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Mancini hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  IN the fifth Urshela hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 6-1.  In the sixth LeMahieu hit an RBI single, Judge hit an RBI single and Urshela hit a two-run homerun making it a 10-1 game.  Gardner hit an RBI ground out to make it 11-1 and in the ninth Maybin hit a solo homerun and Higashioka hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 14-1.  In the ninth Wilkerson hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 14-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees earned the three-game sweep and have won eight in a row.  They will head to Toronto for the first of three on Thursday night. 


New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles for 7th straight win


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 9-4.  Jonathan Holder served as the opener and pitched well and the bullpen also pitched well.  Austin Romine had three hits, Mike Tauchman and DJ LeMahieu each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Holder pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts.  Stephen Tarpley pitched two innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk, Nestor Cortes Jr. won his fifth game of the season pitching 2 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Adam Ottavino picked up his first save of the season and pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Asher Wojciechowski pitched four innings giving up six hits and five runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  He lost his fifth game of the season.  Taylor Scott pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run and he walked two and struck out one, Miguel Castro pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk and Richard Bleier pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk.  David Hess pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs. 

LeMahieu had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew three walks and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Cameron Maybin had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Mike Ford had a hit.  Romine had three hits and three RBI and Tauchman had two hits and two RBI.  Ford and Tauchman each hit a double and Romine hit two doubles.  Tauchman, LeMahieu, Gregorius, Romine, Gardner and Maybin each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-14 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Tauchman had a stolen base. 

Jonathan Villar had two hits and an RBI, Trey Mancini had a hit and an RBI and Anthony Santander had two hits and two RBI.  Renato Nunez had a hit, Pedro Severino had two hits and drew a walk and Hanser Alberto had a hit.  Stevie Wilkerson had a hit, Richie Martin had a hit and drew a walk and Mancini hit a double.  Villar hit a triple and Santander hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the third Tauchman hit a solo homerun and LeMahieu hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Gregorius hit a solo homerun and it was 3-0.  In the bottom of the third Villar hit an RBI triple and Mancini hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the fourth Romine hit a two-run double to push the lead to 5-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Santander hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 5-4.  In the sixth Romine hit a solo homerun and it was 6-4 Yankees.  In the eighth Tauchman hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 7-4.  In the ninth Gardner hit a solo homerun and Maybin hit a solo homerun to make it a 9-4 game and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Wednesday night.

New York Mets defeat the Miami Marlins to sweep the doubleheader


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Walker Lockett started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The Mets bullpen did pitch well and Michael Conforto and Pete Alonso each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lockett pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Robert Gsellman piltched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Jeurys Familia won his third game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a walk and he struck out one and Seth Lugo earned his second save of the season pitching two perfect innings with two strikeouts. 

Sandy Alcantara pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs.  He walked three and struck out four.  Jeff Brigham pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with a strikeout and Jarlin Garcia pitched 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts. 

Jeff McNeil drew two walks, Ahmed Rosario had a hit and Conforto had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Alonso had two hits and an RBI, Wilson Ramos had a hit and J.D. Davis had two hits and an RBI.  Davis hit a double and a homerun and Conforto and Alonso also hit homeruns.  The Mets were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base. 

Miguel Rojas had a hit and drew a walk, Isan Diaz drew a walk and Brian Anderson had three hits.  Curtis Granderson had two hits and two RBI, Harold Ramirez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Bryan Holaday had two hits and an RBI.  Anderson hit two doubles, Holaday and Granderson each hit a double and Holaday hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Diaz was caught stealing. 

In the first Conforto hit a two-run single to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Ramirez hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Holaday hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  Granderson hit a two-run double and the Marlins had a 4-2 lead.  In the seventh Davis hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-3 and Conforto hit a solo homerun to tie the game at four.  Alonso hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 5-4 lead and that was the final score.

The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins in game one of a doubleheader on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Jeff McNeil and Ahmed Rosario each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  deGrom earned his seventh win of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two. 

Robert Dugger pitched five innings giving up five hits and six runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  Dugger lost his first game of the season.  Tayron Guerrero pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Wei-Yin Chen pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts. 

McNeil had two hits and an RBI, Rosario had two hits and an RBI and Michael Conforto drew a walk.  Pete Alonso had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis had an RBI and drew a walk and Todd Frazier drew a walk.  Juan Lagares drew three walks, deGrom had a hit and two RBI and McNeil and Rosario each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.

In the first McNeil hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Castro hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  In the third Rosario hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the fourth deGrom hit a two-run single to push the lead to 4-1.  In the fifth Alonso hit an RBI single and Davis hit a sac fly to make it a 6-1 game.  In the sixth Diaz hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score. 

This was the first of a four-game series and first of two games on the day. 

New York Mets defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates in a rout


The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.  The game took place at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the final score was 13-2.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Todd Frazier and Robinson Cano each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched seven innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Syndergaard won his eighth game of the season.  Donnie Hart pitched a perfect inning and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

Joe Musgrove pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up 10 hits and eight runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  Musgrove lost his 10th game of the season.  Yefry Ramirez pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with three being earned.  He walked two and struck out three and Parker Markel pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts. 

Jeff McNeil had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Michael Conforto had two hits and an RBI and Frazier had three hits and three RBI.  Cano had three hits and an RBI, Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI and J.D. Davis had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Ahmed Rosario had a hit, Syndergaard had two hits and Cano hit two doubles.  McNeil, Conforto, Lagares and Frazier each hit a double and Conforto, Davis and McNeil each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 5-14 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Bryan Reynolds had a hit, Jose Osuna had two hits and an RBI and Colin Moran had a hit and an RBI.  Kevin Newman drew a walk, Osuna hit a double and a homerun and the Pirates were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Marte and Newman each had a stolen base.  Moran committed an error and Cabrera had an outfield assist. 

In the first Conforto hit a solo homerun and Davis hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.  In the third Frazier hit an RBI single to push the lead to 4-0.  Cano hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 5-0 and Davis hit an RBI single to make it 6-0.  IN the fourth Frazier hit a two-run single making it a 8-0 game.  Lagares hit an RBI double in the sixth and Rosario reached on a fielding error and two runs scored to push the lead to 11-0.  In the seventh McNeil hit a two-run homerun and it was 13-0.  In the seventh Moran hit an RBI single to make it 13-1 and in the ninth Osuna hit a solo homerun and the final score was 13-2. 

New York Yankees win a slug fest in Baltimore


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 9-6.    Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he did not pitch well.  The Yankees bullpen did a good job and Brett Gardner and Mike Tauchman led the offense with three hits each. 

Tanaka pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up ten hits and five runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Tommy Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Adam Ottavino won his fifth game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout and Zack Britton pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman saved his 30th game of the season pitching an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three. 

Gabriel Ynoa pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with three being earned.  He struck out two.  Branden Kline pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs and struck out two, Mychal Givens pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out one and Paul Fry pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout and lost his fourth game of the season.  Jimmy Yacabonis pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one.

In the second Romine hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Mancini hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Valera hit a two-run triple to push the Yankees lead to 3-1.  LeMahieu reached on a fielder’s choice to make it a 4-1 game.  In the sixth Gardner hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 5-1 and Tauchman hit a solo homerun making it a 6-1 game.  In the bottom of the sixth Peterson hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 6-3.  Davis hit a sac fly and Villar hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at six.  In the eighth Ford hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees the lead at 7-6.  Tauchman hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 9-6 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees defeat the Boston Red Sox to earn four-game sweep


The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-4.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, the bullpen pitched well.  Cameron Maybin and Kyle Higashioka each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Happ pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and four runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Happ won his ninth game of the season.  Luis Cessa pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out three and Chad Green saved his second game of the season pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

David Price lost his fifth game of the season pitching 2 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and seven runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Darwinzon Hernandez pitched 1 1/3 innings with two walks and Ryan Weber pitched four innings giving up a hit and no runs with two strikeouts. 

Gleyber Torres drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Gio Urshela had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk and Maybin had two hits and an RBI.  Mike Ford had a hit and an RBI, Higashioka had two hits and Mike Tauchman had a hit and two RBI.  Higashioka and Maybin each hit two doubles and Gardner hit a double.  Judge and Urshela each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Mookie Betts had a hit, J.D. Martinez had two hits and Sam Travis drew a walk.  Andrew Benintendi had a hit and two RBI, Christian Vasquez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Michael Chavis had two hits and an RBI.  Brock Holt drew a walk, Vasquez and Chavis each hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Urshela hit a two-run homerun, Maybin hit an RBI double and Ford hit an RBI single to push the lead to 5-0.  Tauchman hit a two-run single to extend the lead to 7-0.  In the fifth Vazquez and Chavis each hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the sixth Benintendi hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 7-4 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees swept the four-game series and will head to Baltimore for a three-game series beginning on Monday night.
