New York Yankees sweep the Boston Red Sox

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 6-3.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen pitched well and Giancarlo Stanton and DJ LeMahieu led the offense with two hits each. 

Montgomery pitched five innings giving up seven hits and a run.  He walked none and struck out four.  Clay Holmes pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts, Joely Rodriguez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with one being earned and Chad Green earned his 10th win of the season.  Green pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out two and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout.  Chapman earned his 30th save of the season. 

Eduardo Rodriguez started for the Red Sox and he pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Garrett Richards pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and a strikeout and Adam Ottavino pitched giving up two hits and two runs without recording an out.  Ryan Brasier pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit. 

LeMahieu had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Anthony Rizzo had a hit and Aaron Judge had a hit and two RBI.  Stanton had two hits and two RBI, Gleyber Torres drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Brett Gardner had a hit, Gio Urshela had a hit and drew a walk and Tyler Wade had a hit.  Rizzo and Judge each hit a double, Stanton hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Wade was caught stealing twice and LeMahieu and Gallo each committed an error.  Gallo had an outfield assist. 

Kike Hernandez had two hits and drew a a walk, Hunter Renfroe had a hit and Rafael Devers had two hits.  Xander Bogaerts had a hit, J.D. Martinez had a hit and an RBI and Christian Arroyo had a hit.  Jose Iglesias had a hit, Alex Verdugo had two hits and Christian Vasquez had an RBI.  Devers hit a double and the Red Sox were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Devers had a stolen base. 

In the bottom of the fourth Martinez hit a sac fly to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Urshela hit into a double play and a run scored to tie the game at one.  LeMahieu hit an RBI single and gave the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Vazquez hit a sac fly tying the score at two.  Schwarber reached on a fielding error by Gallo and the Red Sox took a 3-2 lead.  In the eighth Judge hit a two-run double and Stanton hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 6-3 lead and that would be the final score.  The Yankees swept the three-game series and now have a one game lead over the Red Sox and two over the Blue Jays for the top wild card spot.  They will be off on Monday and start a three-game series in Toronto on Tuesday night. 

New York Yankees take second straight in Boston

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Saturday evening.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 5-3.  Nestor Cortes Jr. started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen pitched very well and Giancarlo Stanton led the offense with two hits and four RBI. 

Cortes pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with four strikeouts.  Michael King pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out two, Lucas Luetge pitched to one batter and got him out and Luis Severino earned his first win of the season.  Severino pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out four.  Aroldis Chapman earned his 29th save of the season, he pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Nick Pivetta started for the Red Sox and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with seven strikeouts.  Hansel Robles pitched 2/3 of an inning, Tanner Houck pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two runs and four walks with three strikeouts.  Houck lost his fifth game of the season.  Darwinzon Hernandez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a strikeout and Ryan Brasier pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Stanton had two hits, four RBI an drew a walk.  Joey Gallo drew a walk, Gio Urshela had a hit and Gardner hit a double.  Stanton hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base. 

Hunter Renfroe had a hit, Rafael Devers had a hit and Kyle Schwarber had a hit.  Bobby Dalbec had a hit and an RBI, Kevin Plawecki had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jose Iglesias had a hit, Plawecki hit a homerun and Dalbec hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the third Plawecki hit a solo homerun to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth a wild pitch made the score 2-0.  In the top of the sixth a wild pitch cut the lead to 2-1 and in the eighth Stanton hit a grand-slam to give the Yankees a 5-2 lead.  In the ninth Dalbec hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-3 but that would be the final score.  The Yankees will look for the three-game sweep on Sunday night.  The two teams are now tied for the top wild card spot.

New York Yankees slug the Boston Red Sox

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 8-3.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The bullpen pitched well and Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Cole pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  He won his 16th game of the season.  Clay Holmes pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits, Wandy Peralta pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one and Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two. 

Nathan Eovaldi started for the Red Sox and he pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and seven runs with two walks and he took his ninth loss of the season.  Hirokazu Sawamura pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a walk and he struck out two, Matt Barnes pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Martin Perez pitched three innings giving up four hits and a run with three strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Anthony Rizzo had two hits and Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Stanton had three hits and four RBI, Joey Gallo had a hit and Torres had three hits and two RBI.  Gio Urshela had a hit, Brett Gardner had two hits and drew a walk and Kyle Higashioka had a hit and an RBI.  Judge, Gardner and Stanton each hit a double.  Stanton and Torres each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-13 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Torres was caught stealing.

In the first Judge hit an RBI double, Stanton hit an RBI ground out and Torres had an RBI single giving the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the third Stanton hit a three-run homerun to extend the lead to 6-0.  Higashioka hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 7-0.  In the bottom of the sixth Devers hit a three-run homerun cutting the lead to 7-3.  In the seventh Torres hit a solo homerun making it a 8-3 game and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.

New York Yankees rally late to defeat the Minnesota Twins

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-5 in ten innings.  Luis Gil started for the Yankees and got off to a bad start but then battled it out for six innings.  The bullpen was good and Joey Gallo led the offense with two hits. 

Gil pitched six innings giving up seven hits and five runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Andrew Heaney pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk and he struck out two batters, Albert Abreu pitched to one batter and retired him and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Clay Holmes pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and he earned his eighth win of the season.

John Gant started for the Twins and he only pitched 2/3 of an inning walking a batter.  He left with an injury.  Luke Farrell pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two, Caleb Thielbar pitched an inning giving up a hit and Kyle Barraclough pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk.  Tyler Duffey pitched two innings giving up a hit and three runs with two walks and a strikeout, Alex Colome pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with four strikeouts and Ralph Garza Jr. pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run.  He took his third loss of the season. 

DJ LeMahieu had an RBI, Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Gallo had two hits and an RBI, Luke Voit drew a walk and Tyler Wade drew a walk.  Anthony Rizzo drew a walk, Sanchez had a hit and an RBI and Gardner hit a double.  Gallo and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Wade had a stolen base. 

Luis Arraez had two hits, Byron Buxton had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Jorge Polanco had a hit and two RBI.  Josh Donaldson drew a walk, Max Kepler had a hit and drew a walk and Miguel Sano had three hits and two RBI.  Arraez hit a double and Polanco, Sano and Buxton each hit a homerun.  The Twins were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Polanco hit a two-run homerun and Sano hit a two-run homerun giving the Twins a 4-0 lead.  In the third Buxton hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 5-0.  In the bottom of the sixth LeMahieu hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the seventh Gallo hit a solo homerun making it a 5-2 game.  In the bottom of the eight Judge hit the big blow which was a three-run homerun tying the game at five.  In the tenth Sanchez hit a walk-off RBI single to give the Yankees a 6-5 victory.  The Yankees will now head to Baltimore to take on the Orioles for three games beginning Tuesday night. 

New York Yankees lose a close and wild one late to the New York Mets

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the New York Mets on Sunday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-6.  Clarke Schmidt started for the Yankees and he pitched well, he didn’t get any help from his defense though.  DJ LeMahieu led the offense with three hits and Giancarlo Stanton added a couple of hits and three RBI. 

Schmidt pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs but only two were earned.  He walked three and struck out two.  Andrew Heaney pitched to two batters and retired them both, Wandy Peralta pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two walks and two strikeouts and Chad Green took the loss which was his seventh of the season.  He pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Carlos Carrasco started for the Mets and he pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  Jeurys Familia pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks, Miguel Castro pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and Brad Hand pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.  Seth Lugo picked up his fourth win of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Edwin Diaz picked up his 29th save of the season pitching an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

LeMahieu had three hits and drew a walk, Anthony Rizzo drew three walks and Stanton had two hits and three RBI.  Joey Gallo had an RBI and drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and two RBI and Gary Sanchez drew a walk.  Gio Urshela had a hit, Schmidt drew a walk and Stanton hit a double.  Torres and Stanton each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Torres and Urshela each committed an error and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Jonathan Villar had a hit and drew a walk, Francisco Lindor had three hits, five RBI and drew a walk and Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk.  Pete Alonso drew a walk, Javier Baez had two hits and Jeff McNeil had two hits.  James McCann had an RBI and drew two walks, McNeil hit a double and Lindor hit three homeruns.  The Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Villar had a stolen base and McNeil committed an error.  McCann had a passed ball. 

In the first Stanton hit an RBI double giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  They increased their lead to 2-0 on a Gallo sac fly.  In the bottom of the first Conforto hit an RBI single and the lead was cut to 2-1.  In the bottom of the second Lindor hit a three-run homerun to give the Mets a 4-2 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth McCann hit a sac fly pushing their lead to 5-2.  In the sixth inning Torres hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 5-4.  In the bottom of the sixth Lindor hit a solo homerun making it a 6-4 game.  In the seventh Stanton hit a two-run homerun tying the game at six.  In the eighth Lindor hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 7-6 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Mets took two out of three from the Yankees in the series.  The Yankees will return home for a Monday afternoon makeup gave against the Minnesota Twins.

New York Yankees win a thrilling game over the New York Mets

 

The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets on Saturday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York.  Corey Kluber started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch great.  Brett Gardner, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres each had two hits. 

Kluber pitched four innings and gave up five hits and four runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Lucas Luetge pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Clay Holmes pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout.  Holmes earned his seventh win of the season.  Albert Abreu pitched an inning giving up two walks and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a strikeout. 

Taijuan Walker started for the Mets pitched six innings giving up six hits and five runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Seth Lugo pitched an inning with a strikeout, Trevor May pitched giving up three hits and three runs with two being earned and not recording an out.  May took his third loss of the season, Aaron Loup pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Brad Hand pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Gardner had two hits and two RBI and Judge had two hits and three RBI.  Stanton had two hits, Torres had two hits and Kyle Higashioka had a hit and two RBI.  Higashioka and Gardner each hit a homerun and Judge hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Francisco Lindor drew a walk, Michael Conforto had two hits and drew a walk and Javier Baez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jeff McNeil had a hit and drew a walk, J.D. Davis had a hit and Kevin Pillar had two hits and two RBI.  James McCann had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Walker had a hit and an RBI and Dom Smith drew a walk.  Pillar and Davis each hit a double, McCann hit a triple and Baez and McCann each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Baez had a stolen base and committed an error. 

In the second Higashioka hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Gardner hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  Judge hit a solo homerun which was back-to-back pushing the lead to 5-0.  In the bottom of the second Pillar hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 5-1.  McCann hit an RBI triple making it a 5-2 game and Walker hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 5-3.  In the bottom of the third Baez hit a solo homerun trimming the lead to 5-4.  In the bottom of the sixth McCann hit a two-run homerun giving the Mets a 6-5 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Pillar hit an RBI single pushing the Mets lead to 7-5.  In the eighth inning Judge hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at seven.  Voit grounded into a forceout giving the Yankees an 8-7 lead and that would be the final score of the game.  The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday night.  It is the rubber game as each team has won one game so far.

New York Yankees drop fifth straight game in loss to the Blue Jays

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-3.  Luis Gil started for the Yankees and he struggled with his command, the bullpen did a pretty good job.  The only offense was Brett Gardner hitting a three-run homerun. 

Gil pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up a hit and three runs with seven walks and six strikeouts.  Lucas Luetge pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout, Joely Rodriguez pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Clay Holmes took his third loss of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and an unearned run.  Holmes struck out one batter.  Chad Green pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts, Aroldis Chapman pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout and Wandy Peralta pitched to one batter and got him out. 

Alek Manoah started for the Blue Jays and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Trevor Richards pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and earned his sixth win of the season, Adam Cimber pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out three and Jordan Romano pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Romano earned his 16th save of the season. 

Gardner had a hit and three RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and Anthony Rizzo had a hit.  Giancarlo Stanton had two hits, DJ LeMahieu had a hit and Joey Gallo had a hit and drew two walks.  Roughned Odor drew a walk, Gleyber Torres drew a walk and Gardner hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Velasquez committed an error and Gallo had an outfield assist. 

Randall Grichuk had a hit, Marcus Semien had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks and Vlad Guerrero Jr. had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Bo Bichette drew a walk, Teoscar Hernandez had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks.  Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a hit and drew a walk, Jarrod Dyson drew a walk and Jake Lamb had an RBI and drew a walk.  Danny Jansen drew two walks, Gurriel Jr. hit a triple and Guerrero Jr. hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Hernandez had a stolen base. 

In the fourth a wild pitch gave the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  Semien hit a two-run single and the lead was pushed to 3-0.  In the fifth Gardner hit a three-run homerun to tie the game at three.  In the seventh Hernandez hit an RBI single to give the Jays a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Lamb hit a sac fly making it a 5-3 game and in the ninth Guerrero Jr. added an insurance run with a solo homerun making it 6-3 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have lost five games in a row and will try and salvage the fourth and final game of the series on Thursday night.

New York Yankees erupt late to bury the Baltimore Orioles

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-3.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  DJ LeMahieu led the offense with three hits and four RBI. 

Taillon pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out ten.  Jonathan Loaisiga won his eighth game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Clay Holmes pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Albert Abreu pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Matt Harvey started for the Orioles and he pitched four innings giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Cesar Valdez pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Cole Sulser pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his second game of the season.  Paul Fry pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk, Dillon Tate pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Dusten Knight pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout.

Cedric Mullins had two hits, Ramon Urias had a hit and Ryan Mountcastle had a hit and two RBI.  Austin Hays had a hit and an RBI, DJ Stewart drew a walk and Pedro Severino had a hit.  Mountcastle hit a homerun and the Orioles were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Hays had a stolen base. 

In the first Mountcatle hit a sac fly to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  Hays hit an RBI single making it 2-0.  In the fourth Mountcastle hit a solo homerun pushing the Orioles lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Rizzo hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 3-1.  Torres hit an RBI single and it was a 3-2 game.  In the bottom of the fifth LeMahieu hit an RBI single tying the game at three.  In the bottom of the seventh LeMahieu hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  Stanton hit a three-run double and it was 7-3.  Torres hit an RBI double and the lead was pushed to 8-3.  In the bottom of the eighth LeMahieu hit a two-run double extending the lead to 10-3 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees took two out of three in the series and will now remain at home to begin a four-game series with the Seattle Mariners on Thursday night.   

New York Yankees even up series with Baltimore Orioles in convincing fashion

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 13-1.  Luis Gil started for the Yankees and pitched great in his major league debut.  There were six players that had two hits and Giancarlo Stanton had four RBI to lead the offense. 

Gil pitched six innings giving up four hits and no runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  He earned his first win of the season and his career.  Stephen Ridings also made his major league debut and pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out the side and Brody Koerner making his major league debut pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk. 

Alexander Wells started for the Orioles and he pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with a couple of strikeouts.  Wells took his second loss of the season.  Adam Plutko pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with a couple of strikeouts, Keegan Akin pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Shaun Anderson pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs.

Cedric Mullins had a hit, Ramon Urias had a hit and Ryan Mountcastle had two hits and an RBI.  Anthony Santander had a hit and drew a walk, Ryan McKenna drew a walk and Austin Hays had a hit.  Maikel Franco had a hit which was a double and Mountcastle hit a double.  The Orioles were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Mullins committed an error. 

In the bottom of the second Torres hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the third LeMahieu hit an RBI double, Rizzo hit an RBI single and Stanton hit a two-run single giving the Yankees a 4-0 lead.  Sanchez hit an RBI double and Torres hit a sac fly pushing the lead to 6-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Stanton hit a three-run homerun extending the lead to 9-0.  In the eighth inning Mountcastle hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 9-1.  In the bottom of the eighth Wade hit a two-run double pushing the lead to 11-1, Rizzo hit an RBI groundout and Judge hit a solo homerun making it a 13-1 game which would be the final score.  

The two teams have split the first two games of the series and will play the rubber game on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees sweep the Miami Marlins

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Loan Depot Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 3-1.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and pitched well.  The bullpen pitched really well and Aaron Judge had two hits to lead the offense. 

Montgomery pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Clay Holmes pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and striking out one.  Joely Rodriguez picked up his second win of the season and first with the Yankees pitching to one batter and getting him out.  Zack Britton pitched an inning with a walk and Aroldis Chapman picked up his 22nd save of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Sandy Alcantara started for the Marlins and he pitched seven innings giving up two hits and no runs with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Anthony Bass pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with one of them being earned and he lost his sixth game of the season.  He also struck out a batter, Richard Bleier pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Dylan Floro pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a strikeout. 

Anthony Rizzo had a hit and an RBI, Judge had two hits and an RBI and Joey Gallo had a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a hit, Brett Gardner had a hit and Tyler Wade drew a walk.  Gallo hit a double and the Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Wade had a stolen base and Rizzo committed an error. 

Miguel Rojas had a hit and drew a walk, Jazz Chisholm Jr. had a hit and Brian Anderson had an RBI.  Bryan De La Cruz had a hit, Sandy Leon had a hit and drew a walk and Rojas hit a double.  The Marlins were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Sierra had a stolen base and Chisholm Jr. was caught stealing.  Anderson committed an error and Chisholm Jr. committed two errors.  Brinson had an outfield assist. 

In the bottom of the first Anderson hit an RBI ground out to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Rizzo hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Judge hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the ninth Gardner reached on an error and a run scored pushing the lead to 3-1.  The final score was 3-1 and the Yankees earned the three-game sweep. 

The Yankees will return home to face the Orioles in a three-game series beginning on Monday night.   

New York Yankees new first baseman making a big impact as they defeat the Marlins once again

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Miami Marlins on Saturday night.  The game took place at Loan Depot Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 4-2.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well but didn’t pitch long and the bullpen was good.  Anthony Rizzo and Roughned Odor each had two hits to lead the offense. 

German pitched four innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Lucas Luetge pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out four and earned his fourth win of the season.  Clay Holmes pitched a perfect inning, Chad Green pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and picked up his third save of the season. 

Trevor Rogers pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  David Hess pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and two strikeouts and he lost his first game of the season.  Anthony Bender pitched to one batter and struck him out, Zach Pop pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Steven Okert pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.  Anthony Bass pitched an inning with a walk. 

Joey Gallo drew a walk, Rizzo had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and drew two walks.  Odor had two hits and an RBI, Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI and Tyler Wade had a hit and drew a walk.  Stanton and Sanchez each hit a double and Rizzo hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Torres committed an error and Sanchez had a pickoff. 

Miguel Rojas had a hit, Brian Anderson had a hit and Jorge Alfaro had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Bryan De La Cruz drew a walk, Lewis Brinson had a hit and it was a double.  Alfaro hit a triple and the Marlins were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Alfaro had a stolen base and Rojas had a stolen base.  De La Cruz was picked off. 

In the second Odor hit an RBI single and Sanchez hit an RBI double giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Alfaro hit an RBI triple to cut the lead to 2-1 and a wild pitch tied the game at two.  In the seventh Rizzo hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees back the lead at 4-2.  4-2 would be the final score of the game.  The Yankees will look for the three-game sweep on Sunday afternoon.

The New York Yankees defeated the Miami Marlins on Friday night.  The game took place at Loan Depot Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 3-1.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he pitched very well, the bullpen did a good job also.  Anthony Rizzo had two hits to lead the offense in his first game as a Yankee. 

Taillon pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and no runs.  He walked two and struck out five and won his seventh game of the season.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two, Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his 21st save of the season. 

Zach Thompson started for the Marlins and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with four walks and five strikeouts.  Thompson lost his fourth game of the season.  Ross Detwiler pitched to one batter and struck him out, Anthony Bender pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out two and Richard Bleier pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a strikeout.  Zach Pop pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and Austin Pruitt pitched an inning giving up a hit.

In the sixth Rizzo hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Odor hit a two-run single to push the Yankees lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the eighth Anderson hit into a double play and a run scored to cut the lead to 3-1 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Mets shutout the Atlanta Braves to split doubleheader

 

The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves in game two of their doubleheader on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 1-0.  Aaron Loup started but it was a bullpen game and they pitched great.  Jeff McNeil had two hits to lead the offense. 

Loup pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out the side and Anthony Banda pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out the side.  Trevor May pitched a perfect inning and picked up his third win of the season, Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked a batter and Edwin Diaz picked up his 22nd save of the season pitching a perfect inning and striking out the side. 

Bryse Wilson started for the Braves and he pitched three innings giving up four hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out two.  Jesse Chavez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Luke Jackson pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Sean Newcomb pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk, McNeil had two hits and an RBI and Dom Smith drew a walk.  J.D. Davis had a hit, Michael Conforto had a hit and James McCann had a hit.  Davis and McNeil each hit a double and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Joc Pederson had a hit, Ozzie Albies drew a walk and Austin Riley had two hits.  Dansby Swanson had a hit.  The Braves were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the bottom of the fifth McNeil hit an RBI double giving the Mets a 1-0 lead and that was the final score.  The two teams will play game three of five on Tuesday night.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Monday evening.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-0 in seven innings as it was game one of a double header.  Marcus Stroman started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets only managed five hits on offense. 

Stroman pitched five innings giving up eight hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Stroman lost his ninth game of the season.  Miguel Castro pitched two innings giving up two hits and no runs with a walk and four strikeouts. 

Kyle Muller started for the Braves and he pitched five innings giving up four hits and no runs.  He walked two and struck out three and won his second game of the season.  Tyler Matzek pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Will Smith pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Smith picked up his 20th save of the season. 

Jonathan Villar had a hit and drew two walks, Kevin Pillar had a hit and Tomas Nido had a hit.  Stroman had a hit,Brandon Drury had a hit and Drury hit a double.  The Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Joc Pederson had a hit and an RBI, Ozzie Albies had a hit and Freddie Freeman had two hits and drew a walk.  Austin Riley had a hit and drew a walk, Dansby Swanson had a hit and Stephen Vogt had a hit. Orlando Arcia had an RBI, Guillermo Heredia had two hits and Muller had a hit.  Heredia, Pederson and Swanson each hit a double and the Braves were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the third Pederson hit an RBI double to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Arcia hit an RBI ground out to push the lead to 2-0 and that would be the final score.

The New York Yankees shutout the Astros again in a thrilling victory

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Saturday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 1-0.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he was brilliant.  Aaron Judge hit a homerun to account for the only run of the game. 

Cole pitched a complete game shutout.  He gave up three hits and two walks and struck out 12 batters. 

Zack Greinke started for the Astros and he pitched four innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Greinke took his third loss of the season.  Cristian Javier pitched three innings giving up a hit and a walk with five strikeouts, Ryne Stanek pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked a batter and Ryan Pressly pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Judge had a hit and an RBI and Luke Voit had a hit and drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Gio Urshela had a hit.  Brett Gardner had a hit, Kyle Higashioka drew a walk and Torres hit a double.  Judge hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Jose Altuve had a hit and drew a walk, Michael Brantley drew a walk and Lourdes Gurriel had a hit.  Abraham Toro had a hit.  The Astros were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Toro had a stolen base. 

In the third Judge hit a solo homerun and that would be the only scoring of the game.  The Yankees would hang on and win the ballgame 1-0.  They will go for the three-game sweep to close out the first half of the season on Sunday afternoon.

The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Friday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 4-0.  Nestor Cortes started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen did a great job and DJ LeMahieu, Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres and Gio Urshela each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Cortes pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Lucas Luetge won his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 perfect innings with a strikeout, Chad Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jonathan Loaisiga pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jake Odorizzi started for the Astros and he pitched six innings giving up seven hits and two runs.  He walked none and struck out four and lost his fourth game of the season.  Bryan Abreu pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and Brandon Bielak pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and he struck out two. 

LeMahieu had two hits and two RBI, Judge had two hits and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Torres had two hits, Roughned Odor had a hit and Urshela had two hits.  Brett Gardner had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Tyler Wade had a hit and Gardner, Wade, LeMahieu and Judge each hit a double.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  LeMahieu had a stolen base. 

Yordan Alvarez had a hit, Kyle Tucker had two hits and Robel Garcia drew two walks.  Tucker hit a double and the Astros were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Toro committed an error. 

In the fourth Gardner hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the seventh LeMahieu hit a two-run double to extend the lead to 4-0 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Mets are shutout by the Milwaukee Brewers in Game two of doubleheader

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night in game two of their doubleheader.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-0.  Robert Stock started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  The Mets offense managed three hits.   

Stock started for the Mets and pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs.  He walked two and struck out five and took his second loss of the season.  Drew Smith pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and three strikeouts, Miguel Castro pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs and Yennsy Diaz pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Brett Anderson started for the Brewers and he pitched four innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and a strikeout.  Jake Cousins pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his first win of the season, Brad Boxberger pitched an inning with three walks and three strikeouts and Hunter Strickland pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jonathan Villar drew a walk, Francisco Lindor had a hit and Dom Smith had a hit.  James McCann had a hit, Brandon Nimmo drew a walk and Jeff McNeil drew a walk.  The Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Luis Urias had two hits and two RBI, Christian Yelich had a hit and drew a walk and Willy Adames had a hit and an RBI.  Rowdy Tellez had a hit, Jace Peterson had a hit and drew two walks and Manny Pina had a hit and two RBI.  Pina, Adames and Urias each hit a homerun.  The Brewers were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the second Pina hit a two-run homerun to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Adames hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 3-0.  In the seventh Urias hit a two-run homerun extending the lead to 5-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams split the doubleheader and the Mets will remain home to take on the Pirates on Thursday night.

The New York Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in Game one of their doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil led the offense with two hits each. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs with no walks and ten strikeouts.  Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up an unearned run and two walks with two strikeouts.  Diaz picked up his third win of the season. 

Corbin Burnes started for the Brewers and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with no walks and eight strikeouts.  Devin Williams pitched to one batter and retired him, Josh Hader pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and blew his first save of the season and Brent Suter pitched giving up a hit and two runs with one being earned and he didn’t record an out.  He also gave up a walk.

In the first Urias hit a solo homerun giving the Brewers a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Lindor hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Peterson hit a solo homerun giving the Brewers a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Peraza hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Yelich was hit by a pitch and a run scored to give the Brewers back the lead at 3-2.  In the bottom of the eighth McNeil hit a two-run walk-off single to give the Mets a 4-3 victory. 

New York Yankees fail to earn sweep over the Seattle Mariners

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Seattle Mariners on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 4-0.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well after some early struggles.  The offense managed one hit. 

Montgomery pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and nine strikeouts.  Montgomery took his fourth loss of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched to one batter and got him out, Wandy Peralta pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Logan Gilbert won his third game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up one hit and no runs.  He walked none and struck out eight.  Paul Sewald pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Kendall Graveman pitched a perfect inning. 

Giancarlo Stanton had a hit which was a double and that was it for the Yankees offense.  They didn’t have a walk and were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base. 

Mitch Haniger had two hits and an RBI, Kyle Seager had a hit and an RBI and Luis Torrens had a hit and drew a walk.  Dylan Moore had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Seager, Moore and Haniger each hit a homerun and the Mariners were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Moore had a stolen base. 

In the first Seager hit a solo homerun giving the Mariners a 1-0 lead.  In the second Moore hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the eighth Haniger hit a solo homerun making it 4-0 and that was the final score. 

The Yankees failed to sweep and will head to Houston for the first of three on Friday night.  It is their first appearance in Houston since getting knocked out of the ALCS in 2019.

New York Yankees hang on for victory in Seattle

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night.  The game took place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 5-4.  Nick Nelson started for the Yankees and couldn’t even make it out of the first, Luis Cessa and Domingo German pitched well out of the bullpen.  The Yankees had four batters with two hits each. 

Nelson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a run and three walks with a strikeout.  Cessa won his second game of the season pitching 3 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and he struck out one, German pitched three innings giving up two hits and three runs but no earned runs.  He walked none and struck out five.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning and struck out two and Chad Green picked up his third save of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Yusei Kikuchi started for the Mariners and he pitched five innings giving up eight hits and five runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Kikuchi lost his fourth game of the season.  JT Chargois pitched a perfect inning, Keynan Middleton pitched an inning giving up a hit and Drew Steckenrider pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out one.

Kyle Seager drew a walk, Ty France had a hit and Jake Fraley had a hit.  Tom Murphy had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Murphy hit a homerun and the Mariners were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the first Voit hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Torres hit a two-run single and the lead was pushed to 3-0.  In the bottom of the first Fraley had an RBI walk to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the second Judge hit a two-run homerun extending the lead to 5-1 Yankees.  In the bottom of the sixth Murphy hit a three-run homerun cutting the lead to 5-4 and that would be the final score of the game.  The Yankees will look for the three-game sweep on Thursday afternoon.

The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.  The game took place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 12-1.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  Luke Voit had five hits to pace the offense and DJ LeMahieu added three hits. 

Taillon pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and nine strikeouts.  Taillon earned his fourth win of the season.  Wandy Peralta pitched an inning with a walk and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with three strikeouts. 

Justus Sheffield started for the Mariners and he pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and six runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Sheffield took his eighth loss of the season.  Hector Santiago pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Will Vest pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three and Rafael Montero pitched two innings giving up five hits and three runs with a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had three hits and an RBI, Aaron Judge had two hits and an RBI and Gary Sanchez drew two walks.  Giancarlo Stanton had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Voit had five hits and three RBI and Gio Urshela had a hit.  Roughned Odor had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Miguel Andujar had two hits and Tim Locastro had a hit and drew a walk.  Judge and Voit each hit a double and Stanton and Odor each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 7-15 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Judge had a stolen base. 

J.P. Crawford drew a walk, Mitch Haniger had a hit and Kyle Seager had a hit.  Ty France had two hits and an RBI, Luis Torrens drew a walk and Dylan Moore drew a walk.  Shed Long Jr. had a hit and drew a walk.  The Mariners were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Stanton hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the second Sanchez drew an RBI walk to extend the lead to 4-0.  Voit hit a two-run single and it was 6-0.  In the third LeMahieu hit an RBI single to push the lead to 7-0.  Judge hit an RBI double and it was 8-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Voit hit an RBI single extending the lead to 9-0.  In the bottom of the sixth the Mariners finally got on the board with a France RBI single.  In the eighth Odor hit a three-run homerun pushing the lead to 12-1.  12-1 would be the final score.  The Yankees have now won two in a row and will play game two of the three game series on Wednesday night.

New York Mets are doubled up by the Washington Nationals

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Monday night.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 8-4.  Jerad Eickhoff started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The Mets had four players with two hits to lead the offense. 

Eickhoff pitched six innings giving up eight hits and five runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Eickhoff lost his first game of the season.  Sean Reid-Foley pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Miguel Castro pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked a batter. 

Paolo Espino pitched five innings giving up five hits and no runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  He won his second game of the season.  Sam Clay pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Wander Suero pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Justin Miller pitched 1/3 of an inninggiving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout.  Brad Hand saved his 17th game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts. 

Jeff McNeil had two hits and an RBI, Dom Smith had two hits and Pete Alonso had two hits and two RBI.  Billy McKinney had a hit and an RBI, Luis Guillorme had two hits and Patrick Mazeika had a hit.  Alonso and McKinney each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Alonso committed an error and Blankenhorn committed two errors. 

Kyle Schwarber had three hits and two RBI, Trea Turner had two hits and an RBI and Juan Soto had a hit.  Josh Bell drew a walk, Yan Gomes had a hit and Gerardo Parra had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Starlin Castro had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and three RBI.  Soto, Parra and Gomes each hit a double and Schwarber hit two homeruns.  The Nationals were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Castro committed an error. 

In the first Schwarber hit a solo homerun, Turner hit a solo homerun and the Nationals grabbed a 2-0 lead.  IN the bottom of the second Parra hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the fifth Schwarber hit a solo homerun making it 4-0.  In the bottom of the sixth Castro hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 5-0.  In the seventh McNeil hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 5-1.  In the eighth Alonso hit a two-run homerun making it a 5-3 game.  McKinney hit a solo homerun and it was 5-4.  In the bottom of the eighth Zimmerman hit a three-run homerun making it 8-4 and that would be the final score.   

New York Yankees lose to Angels to drop fourth straight

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-3.  Michael King started for the Yankees and he pitched ok and the bullpen wasn’t bad.  Gio Urshela led the offense with a couple of hits. 

King pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out four and took his fourth loss of the season.  Lucas Luetge pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout, Chad Green pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and Nestor Cortes pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Dylan Bundy started for the Angels and he pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs and left the game early due to heat exhaustion.  Jose Suarez pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Suarez earned his third win of the season.  Steve Cishek pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Raisel Iglesias pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and earned his 14th save of the season.

David Fletcher had a hit, Shohei Ohtani had a hit and an RBI and Anthony Rendon had a hit and drew two walks.  Jared Walsh had two hits and an RBI, Max Stassi had an RBI and Scott Schebler had a hit.  Jose Iglesias had two hits and an RBI, Luis Rengifo had a hit and Juan Lagares had two hits and an RBI.  Walsh, Rendon, Fletcher and Iglesias each hit a double.  Ohtani and Lagares each hit a homerun and the Angels were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Ohtani hit a solo homerun giving the Angels a 1-0 lead.  Walsh hit an RBI double pushing the lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the first Sanchez hit an RBI ground out cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the second Urshela hit a solo homerun tying the game at two.  In the fifth Stassi hit into a force out and a run scored giving the Angels a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Lagares hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 4-2.  Stanton hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the eighth Iglesias hit an RBI double making it a 5-3 game and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees rally to defeat the Kansas City Royals on a walk-off

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-5.  Michael King started for the Yankees and pitched ok.  The bullpen had some struggles but the offense came back scoring four runs in the last two innings. 

King pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs.  He walked three and struck out five.  Chad Green pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up no hits or runs and striking out a batter, Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  He won his fifth game but had his third blown save of the season. 

Danny Duffy started for the Royals and he pitched two innings with three walks and four strikeouts.  Kyle Zimmer pitched an inning giving up a hit, Carlos Hernandez pitched two innings giving up a hit and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts and Josh Staumont pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Scott Barlow pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two walks and he struck out two, Jake Brentz pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and Greg Holland pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout.  Holland lost his third game of the season and blew his fourth save of the season. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Gary Sanchez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and drew three walks.  Luke Voit had a hit and an RBI, Gleyber Torres drew two walks and Miguel Andujar had a hit and drew a walk.  Clint Frazier had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks, Roughned Odor had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Frazier hit a double.  Odor and Sanchez each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 

Whit Merrifield had a hit, Carlos Santana had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks and Salvador Perez had a hit.  Sebastian Rivero had an RBI and drew a walk, Ryan O’Hearn had two hits and three RBI and Jorge Soler had a hit.  Kelvin Gutierrez drew a walk, Michael Taylor had a hit and Nick Lopez drew a walk.  Perez and Soler each hit a double and O’Hearn and Santana each hit a homerun.  The Royals were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the first O’Hearn hit a two-run homerun giving the Royals a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Frazier hit a two-run double to tie the score at two.  In the eighth Santana hit a solo homerun giving the Royals back the lead at 3-2.  In the bottom of the eighth Odor hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees the lead at 4-3.  In the ninth an RBI walk by Rivero tied the game at four and O’Hearn hit an RBI single to give the Royals a 5-4 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth Sanchez hit a solo homerun tying the game at five and Voit hit a walk-off RBI single giving the Yankees the 6-5 victory. 

The two teams will play the rubber game on Thursday afternoon.

New York Mets are shutout by the Atlanta Braves

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Marcus Stroman started for the Mets and he only pitched an inning and left with an injury.  The Mets bullpen pitched pretty well and the offense only managed two hits. 

Stroman pitched an inning giving up two walks.  Yennsy Diaz pitched two innings giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts and lost his first game of the season.  Drew Smith pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out three, Aaron Loup pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out four and Trevor May pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Charlie Morton started for the Braves and he pitched seven innings giving up a hit and two walks with 11 strikeouts.  Morton won his seventh game of the season.  A.J. Minter pitched an inning with a strikeout and Will Smith saved his 15th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Billy McKinney drew a walk, James McCann had a hit and Luis Guillorme drew a walk.  Jerad Eickhoff had a hit, McCann hit a double and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Freddie Freeman drew a walk, Ozzie Albies had two hits and Abraham Almonte drew two walks.  Austin Riley drew a walk, Dansby Swanson had two hits and three RBI and William Contreras drew a walk.  Ender Inciarte had a hit, Swanson hit a homerun and the Braves were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Albies had two stolen bases. 

In the third Swanson hit a three-run homerun giving the Braves a 3-0 lead and that would be the final score.
