New York Mets rally for a victory over the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 8-7.  Rafael Montero started for the Mets and was not good, the bullpen kept the Mets in the game.  T.J. Rivera led the offense with a couple of hits and three RBI and Wilmer Flores and Rene Rivera each had two hits as well. 

Montero pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Fernando Salas pitched to one batter and retired him and Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one.  Jerry Blevins won his second game of the season and he pitched an inning giving up a hit, Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning and earned his third save of the season. 

Tom Koehler pitched five innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Jarlin Garcia pitched a perfect inning, Brad Ziegler pitched giving up six hits and five runs without recording an out.  Ziegler lost his second game of the season and Kyle Barraclough pitched two innings walking two and striking out three. 

Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk, T. Rivera had two hits and three RBI and Jay Bruce drew a walk.  Curtis Granderson had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Wilmer Flores had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Jose Reyes had a hit.  R. Rivera had two hits and an RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and an RBI, Reyes and T. Rivera each hit a double.  T. Rivera and Granderson each hit a homerun and the Mets were 4-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Bruce was caught stealing. 

Martin Prado had three hits and an RBI, Christian Yelich had a hit and drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Marcell Ozuna had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Justin Bour had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and J.T. Realmuto had a hit.  Miguel Rojas had three hits and two RBI, Stanton, Bour, Rojas and Ozuna each hit a double and the Marlins were 6-18 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Rojas and Gordon each had a stolen base. 

T. Rivera hit a solo homerun in the first to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Ozuna hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Prado hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 2-1 lead.  Stanton hit an RBI double and Bour hit a two-run double to extend the lead to 5-1.  Rojas hit a two-run double to extend the lead to 7-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Granderson hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 7-3.  In the seventh R. Rivera hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-4.  Cabrera hit an RBI single and T. Rivera hit a two-run double to tie the game at seven.  Flores drew an RBI walk to give the Mets an 8-7 lead and that would be the final score.   

New York Yankees rally in ninth to defeat the Chicago Cubs


The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon.  The game took place at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 3-2.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen was good.  The Yankees offense threatened all day but couldn’t get anything going until the ninth inning.  Aaron Judge had two hits and Aaron Hicks had three hits. 

Pineda pitched six innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one, Jonathan Holder earned his first win of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he had a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman earned his seventh save of the season pitching an inning and striking out two. 

Kyle Hendricks started for the Cubs and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and no runs.  He walked two and struck out five.  Brian Duensing pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two, Pedro Strop pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Hector Rondon pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Rondon blew his first save of the season and took his first loss of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk, Hicks had three hits and Starlin Castro had two hits.  Judge had two hits, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Chase Headley had a hit.  Chris Carter drew a walk, Pineda had a hit and Jacoby Ellsbury drew a pinch-hit walk.  Hicks and Judge each hit a double and Gardner hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.   Hicks had a stolen base and Judge and Headley each committed an error.  Pineda had a pickoff. 

Kyle Schwarber had a hit and an RBI, Kris Bryant had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Anthony Rizzo had a hit.  Ben Zobrist had a hit, Matt Szczur drew a walk and Bryant and Schwarber each hit a homerun.  The Cubs were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Heyward had two outfield assists. 

In the first Bryant hit a solo homerun giving the Cubs a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Schwarber hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the ninth Gardner hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night. 

New York Mets pound the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Suntrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 16-5.  Jacob deGrom started the game for the Mets and he didn’t pitch that well.  Michael Conforto, Rene Rivera and T.J. Rivera each had three hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched five innings giving up eight hits and five runs with five walks and five strikeouts.  deGrom won his second game of the season.  Josh Edgin pitched a perfect inning with a  strikeout, Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Fernando Salas pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Josh Smoker pitched an inning with two strikeouts. 

Bartolo Colon lost his third game of the season pitching four innings and giving up seven hits and five runs with two walks.  Josh Collmenter pitched an inning giving up five hits and four runs with a strikeout, Ian Krol pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jason Motte pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Eric O’Flaherty pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and four runs with a walk and Matt Wisler pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout. 

Conforto had three hits and two RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Jay Bruce had a hit and drew two walks.  Neil Walker had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Curtis Granderson had two hits and an RBI and Jose Reyes had two hits and five RBI with a walk.  R. Rivera had three hits and three RBI, T. Rivera had three hits and deGrom had two hits and two RBI.  Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI, Conforto hit two doubles and Cabrera, Walker and Reyes each hit a double.  Granderson and T. Rivera each hit two doubles.  The Mets were 12-20 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  T. Rivera committed an error. 

Ender Inciarte drew a walk, Adonis Garcia had a hit and Freddi Freeman had a hit and an RBI.  Matt Kemp had a hit, Nick Markakis had a hit and Tyler Flowers had two hits and drew a walk.  Jace Peterson had a hit and two RBI, Dansby Swanson drew three walks and Emilio Bonifacio had a hit and two RBI.  Kurt Suzuki had a hit and Peterson hit a double and Bonifacio hit a triple.  The Braves were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Garcia committed an error and Markakis had an outfield assist. 

In the first Cabrera hit an RBI double and Walker hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the third Granderson hit an RBI double, Reyes an RBI single and R. Rivera an RBI single to make it 5-0.  In the bottom of the third Freeman hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the fourth Bonifacio hit a two-run triple to make it a 5-3 game.  In the fifth Reyes hit a sac fly and R. Rivera had an RBI single to make it 7-3 Mets.  deGrom hit a two-run single pushing the lead to 9-3.  In the bottom of the fifth Peterson hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 9-5.  In the eighth Reyes hit a three-run double, R. Rivera hit an RBI single and Lagares hit an RBI single to make it 14-5.  Conforto hit a two-run double making it a 16-5 game and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Thursday night.

New York Yankees rally to take series over the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-6.  CC Sabathia started and was not good at all.  The bullpen was very good and Aaron Judge led the offense with three hits. 

Sabathia pitched four innings giving up seven hits and six runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Tyler Clippard pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Dellin Betances won his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman earned his sixth save of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Marcus Stroman pitched three innings giving up six hits and five runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Ryan Tepera pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and three walks, Joe Biagini pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with five strikeouts and he took his first loss of the season and Joe Smith pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two walks and a strikeout.  Roberto Osuna pitched an inning striking out the side. 

Brett Gardner had two hits and drew two walks, Aaron Hicks had an RBI and drew three walks and Matt Holliday had a hit and three RBI.  Starlin Castro had two hits, Judge had three hits and two RBI and Chase Headley had a hit and drew a walk.  Chris Carter had two hits and an RBI, Ronald Torreyes drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Kyle Higashioka drew a walk, Headley hit a double and Holliday and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Judge was caught stealing. 

Kevin Pillar had a hit and drew a walk, Jose Bautista had a hit and drew a walk and Russell Martin had an RBI and drew two walks.  Kendrys Morales had a hit and an RBI, Justin Smoak had a hit and an RBI and Steve Pearce had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Darwin Barney ahd two hits, Ryan Goins had a hit and Barney hit a double and Pearce hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Smoak hit an RBI single and Pearce hit a three-run homerun to give the Jays a 4-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Holliday hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the second Martin drew an RBI walk to push the lead to 5-3 and Morales grounded into a force out which scored a run and made it a 6-3 game.  In the third Judge hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 6-5.  In the seventh Carter hit an RBI single to tie the game at six and Gregorius hit an infield RBI single to give the Yankees a 7-6 lead.  Hicks drew an RBI walk to make it an 8-6 game and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees won two out of three in the series and will have the day off on Thursday.  They will begin a three game series in Chicago against the Cubs on Friday afternoon. 

New York Yankees even series with the Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 11-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he wasn’t that great.  Brett Gardner and Matt Holliday led the offense with three hits each. 

Tanaka pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with no walks and four strikeouts.  Tanaka won his fourth game of the season.  Tyler Clippard pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Dellin Betances pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout and Tommy Layne pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Jonathan Holder pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Mat Latos pitched four innings giving up ten hits and seven runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Latos lost his first game of the season.  Dominic Leone pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts, Jason Grilli pitched without getting an out and he gave up two hits and three runs with a walk and Aaron Loup pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Gardner had three hits and three RBI, Chase Headley had two hits and an RBI and Holliday had three hits and an RBI.  Starlin Castro had two hits, Didi Gregorius drew a walk and Aaron Judge had two hits, four RBI and drew two walks.  Aaron Hicks had two hits and two RBI, Chris Carter had a hit and drew a walk and Austin Romine had a hit.  Gardner and Castro each hit a double and Holliday hit two doubles.  Hicks hit a homerun and Gardner and Judge each hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Headley committed an error. 

Kevin Pillar had two hits, Jose Bautista had a hit and drew a walk and Russell Martin drew a walk.  Justin Smoak had a hit, Steve Pearce had four hits and two RBI and Ryan Goins had an RBI.  Devon Travis had two hits, Chris Coghlan had a hit and an RBI and Pillar, Travis, Bautista and Pearce each hit a double.  Pearce hit two homeruns and the Blue Jays were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Pillar was caught stealing and Pearce committed an error. 

In the first Holliday hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Hicks hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  Gardner hit a two-run homerun and the score was 5-0 after two.  In the third Judge hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 6-0.  In the fourth Gardner hit a solo homerun to make it a 7-0 game.  Pearce hit a solo homerun in the fifth to cut the lead to 7-1 and Coghlan hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the sixth Headley hit an RBI single to make it 8-2.  Pearce hit his second solo homerun in the seventh to cut the lead to 8-3 and a run scored on a balk to cut the lead in half to 8-4.  In the bottom of the seventh Judge hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 11-4.  Goins hit an RBI ground out in the eighth to cut the lead to 11-5 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the three game series on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 12-4.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and he pitched well just didn’t go deep into the game.  Adam Warren also pitched well out of the bullpen and Brett Gardner hit two homeruns and Aaron Judge hit a homerun to lead the offense. 

Pineda pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with none of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out eight.  Pineda won his third game of the season.  Warren pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and no runs with a walk and a strikeout and Tommy Layne pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Ubaldo Jimenez lost his first game of the season pitching 3 1/3 innings and giving up five hits and seven runs with six of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out four.  Vidal Nuno pitched two innings giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts, Jayson Aquino pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts and Donnie Hart pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Gardner had two hits and four RBI, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk.  Starlin Castro had a hit, Didi Gregorius had two hits and an RBI and Judge had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks.  Greg Bird drew three walks, Austin Romine had two hits and five RBI and Gregorius hit a double and Gardner hit two homeruns.  Judge also hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Judge had a stolen base and Headley committed an error. 

Craig Gentry had a hit, Adam Jones had two hits and Manny Machado had a hit and drew a walk.  Mark Trumbo drew a walk, Hyun Soo Kim had a hit and drew a walk and Jonathan Schoop had a hit.  Ryan Flaherty had a hit, Caleb Joseph had two hits and two RBI and Machado hit a double and Joseph a homerun.  The Orioles were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Joseph committed an error. 

In the first Gardner hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Romine hit a sac fly and it was 2-0 Yankees.  Gardner hit a three-run homerun to extend the lead to 5-0.  In the fourth Romine hit a two-run single to push the lead to 7-0.  In the sixth Trumbo reached on an error and a wild pitch scored a run to make it 7-2 Yankees.  Romine hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to 9-2.  In the seventh Gregorius hit an RBI double to push the lead to 10-2 and Judge hit a two-run homerun to make it a 12-2 game.  In the ninth Joseph hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 12-4 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will go for the three game sweep on Sunday afternoon.

New York Mets defeat the Washington Nationals to end losing streak


The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Friday night.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. and the final score was 7-5.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched pretty well.  Travis d’Arnaud led the offense with two hits and five RBI.  Three other players also had two hits. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and 12 strikeouts.  deGrom won his first game of the season.  Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Addison Reed pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and he struck out one.  Josh Edgin earned his first save of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and retiring both batters that he faced. 

Max Scherzer lost his second game of the season pitching six innings and giving up nine hits and five runs.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Oliver Perez pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Jacob Turner pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked two batters and Enny Romero pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout.

Adam Eaton had two hits, Trea Turner had two hits and Bryce Harper had a hit.  Ryan Zimmerman had two hits and three RBI, Daniel Murphy had two hits and Anthony Rendon had a hit and drew a walk.  Matt Wieters had two hits and two RBI, Adam Lind had a hit and Zimmerman hit two homeruns and Wieters hit a homerun.  The Nationals were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Zimmerman committed two errors. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.
