The New York Mets win their second straight over the Washington Nationals



The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Saturday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2 Mets.  Jacob deGrom started and battled through the game.  The Mets bullpen was good and Lucas Duda led the offense with two homeruns and three RBI. 

deGrom pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Bobby Parnell pitched an inning giving up a hit, Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and he picked up his third win of the season and Jeurys Familia picked up his 28th save of the season.  Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Joe Ross pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Casey Janssen pitched 2/3 of an inning walking one, Matt Thornton lost his first game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Aaron Barrett pitched to two batters and retired them both including a strikeout. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes drew a walk and it was intentional and Duda had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Kelly Johnson had two hits, Juan Uribe drew a walk and Johnson, Granderson and Duda each hit a double.  Duda hit two homeruns and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Yunel Escobar had two hits, Bryce Harper had two hits and Ryan Zimmerman had a hit.  Jayson Werth drew a walk, Ian Desmond had a hit and two RBI and Ross had a hit.  The Nationals were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Desmond hit a two run single giving the Nationals a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Duda hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1 Nationals.  In the seventh Duda tied the game at two with a solo homerun.  In the eighth Duda hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 3-2 lead and that would be the final score.  The Mets have won the first two of the three game series and are one game out in the NL East with a chance to tie the Nationals tomorrow with a victory.

The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and pitched great and Ruben Tejada and Wilmer Flores each had two hits. 

Harvey pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with no walks and nine strikeouts.  Tyler Clippard pitched 2/3 of an inning with two walks and a strikeout, Jeurys Familia pitched 1 2/3 perfect innings with a strikeout and Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts.  Carlos Torres won his fourth game of the season pitching an inning striking out the side. 

Gio Gonzalez pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with four walks and six strikeouts.  Tanner Roark pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up no runs and no hits and he struck out four, Aaron Barrett pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Felipe Rivero lost his first game of the season pitching two innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Tejada had two hits and Daniel Murphy had a hit.  Juan Uribe drew two walks, Travis d'Arnaud drew a walk and Flores had two hits and two RBI.  Juan Lagares drew a walk, Murphy hit a double and Flores hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Granderson was caught stealing. 

Anthony Rendon had two hits, Yunel Escobar had a hit and an RBI and Jayson Werth had a hit.  Ryan Zimmerman drew a walk, Ian Desmond drew a walk and Jose Lobaton had a hit.  Werth hit a double and the Nationals were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the fourth Flores hit an RBI single giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Escobar hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the ninth Flores hit a game winning walk-off solo homerun giving the Mets a 2-1 victory.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

The New York Mets blow a big lead and lose to the San Diego Padres



The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final was 8-7 San Diego.   Jon Niese started and pitched well for the Mets.  The bullpen was shaky and Curtis Granderson and Daniel Murphy each had two hits. 

Niese pitched six innings giving up six hits and a run with a walk and six strikeouts.  Bobby Parnell pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk, Hansel Robles pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and Tyler Clippard pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs.  Familia blew his fifth save of the season and he lost his first game of the season. 

Andrew Cashner pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and seven runs with five of them earned.  He walked two and struck out three.  Shawn Kelley pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Brandon Maurer pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Marcos Mateo pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and he picked up his first win of the season.  Craig Kimbrel saved his 30th game of the season.  He pitched an inning and struck out one batter. 

Granderson had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Ruben Tejada had a hit and an RBI and Murphy had two hits and an RBI.  Juan Uribe had a hit and an RBI, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Kevin Plawecki had a hit.  Juan Lagares had an RBI and drew a walk, Granderson and Murphy each hit a double and Granderson and Uribe each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Melvin  Upton Jr. had a hit and drew a walk, Derek Norris had five hits and four RBI and Matt Kemp had two hits and an RBI.  Justin Upton had a hit and three RBI, Yangervis Solarte had a hit and Jed Gyorko had a couple of hits.  Yonder Alonso had a hit, Wallace drew a walk and Alonso and Gyorko each hit a double.  Norris and J. Upton each hit a homerun and the Padres were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Norris committed an error and Barnes committed an error. 

In the first Murphy hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Granderson hit a three run homerun to give the Mets a 4-0 lead.  Kemp hit an RBI single in the sixth to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Uribe hit a solo homerun to make it 5-1 Mets.  Lagares hit a sac fly and Tejada hit an RBI single and it was 7-1 Mets.  In the seventh Norris hit a grand slam to make it a 7-5 game.  J. Upton hit a three run homerun giving the Padres a 8-7 lead.  8-7 would be the final score as the Mets lost two out of three in the series.

The New York Mets lose on a crazy night in Queens



The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-3.  Bartolo Colon was roughed up, the bullpen was pretty good and Lucas Duda hit three homeruns.  The bigger story was the trade that became a none trade and had Wilmer Flores the Mets shortstop crying on the field.  It was definitely a crazy night.  The Mets traded for Carlos Gomez from Milwaukee but then the deal was nixed after reviewing medicals but not before it got out all over the internet. 

Colon pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up ten hits and six runs with no walks and a strikeout.  Colon lost his tenth game of the season.  Alex Torres pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three walks and striking out two, Bobby Parnell pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run and Sean Gilmartin pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out five.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three. 

Tyson Ross won his seventh game of the season pitching five innings giving up two hits and a run with four walks and five strikeouts.  Kevin Quackenbush pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with four strikeouts, Dale Thayer pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Marcos Mateo pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and he struck out a batter.

Curtis Granderson drew two walks, Kelly Johnson drew a walk and Duda had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Wilmer Flores had a hit and Eric Campbell had a hit, Duda hit three homeruns and the Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left  four men on base.  Granderson was caught stealing.

Will Venable had two hits and an RBI, Yangervis Solarte had four hits and an RBI and Matt Kemp had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Justin Upton had two hits and three RBI, Yonder Alonso had two hits and an RBI and Jedd Gyorko had two hits and drew a walk.  Austin Hedges had two hits and drew a walk, Solarte hit two doubles and Alonso hit a double.  Upton and Alonso each hit a homerun and the Padres were 4-15 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Venable, Kemp and Amarista each had a stolen base. 

In the first Kemp hit an RBI single to make it 1-0 Padres.  Upton hit a sac fly and it was 2-0 Padres.  In the second Venable hit an RBI single and Solarte hit an RBI single to make it 4-0 Padres.  Duda hit a solo homerun in the second to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the third Upton hit a solo homerun to make it 5-1 Padres.  Alonso hit a solo homerun in the third and it was 6-1 Padres.  Upton hit an RBI single in the sixth to push the lead to 7-1 Padres.  Duda hit a solo homerun in the sixth and he hit a solo homerun in the ninth to make it 7-3 but that was the final score. 

The New York Yankees fall behind early and then blast the Texas Rangers



The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park and the final score was 21-5.  Chris Capuano started the game and couldn't even get through one inning, the bullpen was great.  The offense was on fire as everyone was hitting. 

Capuano pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and five runs.  He walked five batters and didn't strike out anyone.  Diego Moreno picked up his first win of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings giving up no hits and no runs with a walk and five strikeouts, Adam Warren picked up his first save pitching a perfect three innings.

Martin Perez pitched an inning giving up seven hits and eight runs with no walks and a strikeout.  Perez lost his second game of the season.  Wandy Rodriguez pitched an inning giving up six hits and seven runs with three walks and three strikeouts, Klein pitched three innings giving up two hits and an unearned run.  He walked two and struck out two batters and Patton pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Sam Freeman pitched an inning walking two and striking out one, Scheppers pitched an inning with a walk and Adam Rosales pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out one. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and an RBI, Brett Gardner had three hits, three RBI and drew three walks and Alex Rodriguez had two hits, an RBI and drew three walks.  Mark Teixeira drew a walk, Chris Young had three hits, five RBI and drew a walk and Chase Headley had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  John Ryan Murphy had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Didi Gregorius had four hits and three RBI and Brendan Ryan had two hits and three RBI.  Young hit two doubles, Ryan hit two doubles and Rodriguez hit a double.  Gregorius hit a triple and Young and Gardner each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 11-21 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base. 

Delino DeShields had an RBI and drew two walks, Prince Fielder drew a walk and Elvis Andrus had a hit and an RBI and Mitch Moreland drew a walk.  Ryan Rua had a hit and two RBI, Shin-Soo Choo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Robinson Chirinos drew a walk and Choo hit a double.  The Rangers were 3-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Chirinos, Andrus and Telis each committed an error. 

The Yankees were down 5-0 after the first inning.  They scored 11 runs in the second and four in the third to take a 15-5 lead.  They added one in the fourth and three in the sixth and then two more in the ninth to make it 21-5.  It was the most runs scored by any team in a few years.  It was the largest unanswered comeback since 1939.  This was a crazy game and hard to imagine the Yankees were down 5-0 and their starter was knocked out in the first inning.  The two teams will play game three of four on Wednesday night.

The New York Mets shutout the San Diego Padres



The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-0.  Noah Syndergaard started and pitched great for the Mets and Curtis Granderson led the offense with a couple of hits and RBI. 

Syndergaard pitched eight innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and nine strikeouts.  Syndergaard picked up his fifth win of the season.  Tyler Clippard pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

James Shields lost his fourth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up seven hits and three runs with no walks and four strikeouts.  Shawn Kelley pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run. 

Granderson had two hits and two RBI, Ruben Tejada had a hit and Daniel Murphy had a hit.  Lucas Duda had a hit and two RBI, Juan Uribe had a hit and Kevin Plawecki had a hit.  Juan Lagares had a pinch hit, Tejada and Lagares each hit a double and Duda and Granderson each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Tejada committed an error. 

Will Venable had a hit, Yangervis Solarte had a hit and Yonder Alonso had a hit.  Abraham Almonte had a hit which was a double.  The Padres were 0-5 with runners in scoring positiona dn left three men on base.  Alonso committed an error. 

In the first Duda hit a two run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the eighth Granderson hit a two run homerun to make it 4-0 and that was the final score.  The Mets and Padres will play game two of three on Wednesday night.   

The New York Yankees keep rolling with a win in Texas



The New York Yankee defeated the Texas Rangers on Monday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 6-2.  Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and pitched ok, he was limited though due to a tired arm.  The Yankees bullpen was really good and Chase Headley and Didi Gregorius each had three hits. 

Nova won his third game of the season, he pitched five innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Chasen Shreve pitched two innings walking one and striking out four, Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Dellin Betances pitched an inning walking one and striking out one. 

Matt Harrison lost his second game of the season pitching six innings and giving up six hits and six runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Sam Freeman pitched an inning giving up a hit and Phil Klein pitched two innings giving up four hits and he walked one and struck out one. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Chris Young had a hit and an RBI and Alex Rodriguez had a hit and an RBI.  Mark Teixeira had a hit, Brian McCann had a hit and Carlos Beltran drew two walks.  Headley had three hits, Gregorius had three hits and four RBI and Brendan Ryan had a hit.  Headley hit a double, ryan hit a triple and Gregorius and Rodriguez each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  McCann committed an error. 

Shin-soo Choo drew a walk, Prince Fielder had a hit and Mitch Moreland had a hit and drew two walks.  Josh Hamilton had a hit and drew a walk, Elvis Andrus had a hit and an RBI and Leonys Martin had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Andrus and Moreland each hit a double adn the Rangers were 1-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Martin had a stolen base and had an outfield assist. 

In the second Andrus had an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead and Martin had an RBI single to make it 2-0.  In the third Gregorius hit a two run homerun to tie the game at two and Young hit a sac fly to make it 3-2 in the third.  In the sixth Rodriguez hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-2.  In the seventh Gregorius hit a two run single making it 6-2 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees have won three of four on their current ten game road trip and will play game two of four on Tuesday night in Texas.

The New York Mets get a walk-off hit from Juan Uribe in his Mets debut



The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2 in ten innings.  Curtis Granderson had two hits to lead the offense. 

Jacob deGrom pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Jeurys Familia blew his fourth save of the season.  Familia pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout and Jennry Mejia won his first game of the season pitching an inning walking one and striking out another. 

Zack Greinke pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs.  He walked three and struck out three.  J.P. Howell pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two, Juan Nicasio lost his third game of the season.  Nicasio pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Nicasio lost his third game of the season.  Kenley Jansen pitched to one batter and gave up a hit. 

Granderson had two hits, Daniel Murphy had a hit and drew two walks, Juan Uribe had a hit and an RBI and Lucas Duda drew a walk.  Michael Conforto had an RBI and drew a walk and Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a hit.  Kevin Plawecki had a hit, deGrom had an RBI and drew a walk and Granderson hit a double.  The Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Granderson had a stolen base. 

Adrian Gonzalez had a hit and drew a walk, Justin Turner had a hit and an RBI and Yasmani Grandal had a hit and an RBI.  Andre Ethier had a hit, Jimmy Rollins drew two walks and Greinke had a hit.  Gonzalez and Turner each hit a double.  The Dodgers were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Rollins had a stolen base, Pederson committed an error and Ethier had an outfield assist. 

In the third deGrom reached on a fielder's choice and a run scored making it 1-0 Mets.  In the sixth Conforto had an RBI hit by pitch to make it 2-0.  In the ninth Turner hit an RBI double to make it a 2-1 game.  In the ninth Grandal hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the tenth Uribe hit an RBI walk-off RBI single to win the game at 3-2 Mets.  The New York Mets will have the day off on Monday.   

The New York Yankees take rubber game from the Minnesota Twins behind Nathan Eovaldi



The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the final score was 7-2.  Nathan Eovaldi pitched into the ninth inning giving up two runs on eight hits and one walk and five strikeouts.  Eovaldi won his tenth game of the season.  Justin Wilson gave up two hits without recording an out and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning. 

Kyle Gibson lost his eighth game of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and six runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Ryan O'Rourke pitched 1 2/3 innings givign up a hit and a run with two walks and two strikeouts and J.R. Graham pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had two hits and drew a walk, Mark Teixeira drew a walk and Brian McCann drew two walks.  Carlos Beltran had a hit, Garrett Jones had a hit and an RBI and Chase Headley had two hits and three RBI.  Didi Gregorius had an RBI, Stephen Drew had a hit and two RBI and Gardner and Beltran each hit a double.  Headley and Drew each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Brian Dozier had two hits and drew a walk, Torii Hunter had an RBI and Joe Mauer had a hit.  Miguel Sano had a hit, Trevor Plouffe had a hit and an RBI and Eddie Rosario had two hits.  Eduardo Nunez had a hit, Aaron Hicks had two hits and Sano hit a double.  The Twins were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the third Hunter hit an RBI ground out to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Headley hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the sixth Jones hit an RBI single, Headley hit a two run single and Gregorius hit an RBI sac bunt.  The Yankees had a 5-1 lead and then Drew hit a two run homerun to make it 7-1 Yankees.  In the  ninth Plouffe hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-2 but that would be the final score.  The Yankees won two out of three in the series and will now head to Texas for four games beginning on Monday night.  The Yankees have won six straight series as they continue to roll along in first place in the AL East.
