New York Yankees win third straight over Astros to take series lead


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Wednesday evening.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-0.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he was brilliant and Tommy Khanle closed it with two innings.  Gary Sanchez and Didi Gregorius each had two hits and Chase Headley had three hits. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up no runs on three hits.  He walked one and struck out eight and picked up the win.  Khanle pitched two scoreless innings giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Dallas Keuchel lost the game pitching 4 2/3 innings and giving up seven hits and four runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Will Harris pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Brad {eacock pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and Francisco Liriano pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one. 

Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Sanchez had two hits and two RBI and Gregorius had two hits and an RBI.  Starlin Castro had a hit, Greg Bird had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Headley had three hits.  Castro, Judge, Headley and Gregorius each hit a double.  Sanchez hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  T. Frazier committed an error. 

George Springer had a hit, Carlos Correa had a hit and Yuri Gurriel had a hit.  Marwin Gonzalez had a hit, Brian McCann drew a walk and Gurriel and Correa each hit a double.  The Astros were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Bregman committed an error. 

In the second Bird hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Judge hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Sanchez hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0, Gregorius hit an RBI single making it 4-0 and in the seventh Sanchez hit a solo homerun to finish it off at 5-0. 

The Yankees now own a 3-2 lead in the series and game six is in Houston on Friday night.

New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros in a thrilling comeback victory

The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-4.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Aaron Judge, Didi Gregorius and Todd Frazier each had two hits. 
Gray pitched five plus innings giving up a hit and two runs with only one being earned.  He walked two and struck out four.  David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Chad Green got the win pitching two innings and giving up a hit and an unearned run with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman picked up the save pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 
Lance McCullers Jr. pitched six innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Chris Devenski pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk, Joe Musgrove pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs and Ken Giles blew the save and picked up the loss pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up three hits and two runs with a walk.  Luke Gregerson pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up a walk. 
Brett Gardner had an RBI, Judge had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Gregorius had two hits.  Gary Sanchez had a hit and three RBI, Greg Bird drew three walks and Starlin Castro drew a walk.  T. Frazier had two hits, Chase Headley had a big pinch hit and Judge and Sanchez each hit a double.  Gregorius hit a triple and Judge hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Judge was caught stealing and Castro committed two errors and Romine had a catcher interference error.  Gardner had an outfield assist. 
George Springer drew a walk, Jose Altuve drew two walks and Yuli Gurriel had a hit and three RBI.  Carlos Beltran had a hit, Marwin Gonzalez had a hit and Beltran, Gurriel and Gonzalez each hit a double.  The Astros were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 
In the sixth Gurriel hit a three-run double giving the Astros a 3-0 lead.  In the seventh McCann reached on an error and a run scored to push the score to 4-0 Astros.  In the seventh Judge hit a solo homerun and Sanchez hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the eighth Gardner hit an RBI ground out, Judge hit an RBI double and Sanchez hit a two-run double to give the Yankees the 6-4 lead and that would be the final score. 
The series is now tied at two games each with game five on Wednesday evening in New York.  There will be a game six on Friday night in Houston. 


The New York Yankees blow out the Houston Astros to get back in the series


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-1.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  Aaron Judge and Todd Frazier each hit a three-run homerun to lead the offense. 

Sabathia pitched six innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked four and struck out five and he won the game.  Adam Warren pitched two scoreless innings giving up a walk and he struck out one, Dellin Betances walked the only two batters he faced and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Charlie Morton pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up six hits and seven runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  He lost the game, Will Harris pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and Colin McHugh pitched four scoreless innings giving up a walk and three strikeouts. 

Judge had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Greg Bird had a hit and drew a walk.  Starlin Castro had a hit, Aaron Hicks had a hit and T. Frazier had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI.  Bird hit a double, T. Frazier and Judge each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Gregorius was picked off and he committed an error. 

George Springer had a hit and drew a walk, Alex Bregman had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Jose Altuve drew a walk.  Carlos Correa had a hit, Evan Gattis drew a walk and Marwin Gonzalez drew a walk.  Josh Reddick drew a walk, Derek Fisher drew a walk and Cameron Maybin had a hit and drew a walk.  The Astros were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Morton had a pickoff. 

In the second T. Frazier hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the fourth Headley hit an RBI single to push the lead to 4-0.  A wild pitch made it a 5-0 game and a Judge three-run homerun extended the lead to 8-0.  In the ninth Bregman drew an RBI walk to cut the lead to 8-1 and that would be the final score. 
The Yankees now trail the series 2 games to 1 and will try to even the series on Tuesday
