The New York Yankees even the Subway Series with a shutout victory over the New York Mets



The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-0 Yankees.  Michael Pineda started and pitched well and the bullpen was good.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and didn't pitch so well and the bullpen for the Mets was good.  Carlos Beltran hit a three run homerun and Brian McCann a two run homerun.  The Mets only had six hits and no batter had more than a hit. 

Pineda won his 11th game of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and no runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Justin Wilson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out four, Caleb Cotham pitched to one batter and struck him out and Delllin Betances pitched an inning striking out two.  James Pazos pitched to one batter and retired him, Chris Martin pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and striking out a batter and Andrew Miller retired the only batter that he faced. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up seven hits and five runs with no walks and eight strikeouts and he lost his seventh game of the season.  Sean Gilmartin pitched two innings walking one and striking out one and Bobby Parnell pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Brett Gardner had a hit and Beltran had two hits and three RBI.  McCann had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Greg Bird had a hit and Chase Headley drew a walk.  Dustin Ackley had a hit, Bird hit a double and Ackley hit a triple.  Beltran and McCann each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew a walk, Daniel Murphy had a hit and drew a walk and Lucas Duda had a hit.  Michael Cuddyer had a hit, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Kelly Johnson had a hit.  The Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Wright was caught stealing. 

In the first Beltran hit a three run homerun and in the sixth McCann hit a two run homerun which was all the scoring in the game.  The two teams have split the first two games of the series and will play game three which is the rubber game on Sunday night.

The New York Yankees were defeated by the New York Mets on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1 Mets.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched well and Steven Matz for the Mets and he started off struggling but finished well.  The Yankees had nine hits but no batter had more than a hit and Daniel Murphy, David Wright and Lucas Duda each had two hits for the Mets. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up five hits and two runs with no walks and four strikeouts and he lost his seventh game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout, Branden Pinder pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and James Pazos pitched to one batter and retired him.  Andrew Bailey pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Matz won his fourth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up seven hits and a run with a walk and four strikeouts.  Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and a walk, Chase Headley had a hit and Carlos Beltran had a hit.  Chris Young had a hit and an RBI, Greg Bird had a hit and Dustin Ackley had a hit.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Brendan Ryan had a hit and Alex Rodriguez drew a walk.  Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Ackley hit a double and the Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. 

Murphy had two hits and an RBI, Wright had two hits and drew a walk and Duda had two hits and an RBI.  Wilmer Flores had a hit, Juan Uribe had a hit and two RBI.  Duda hit a double, Murphy hit a triple and Duda, Murphy and Uribe hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the first Young hit a sac fly to make it 1-0 Yankees.  Duda hit a solo homerun in the second to tie the game at one.  In the sixth Murphy hit a solo homerun and in the seventh Uribe hit a two run homerun to make it 4-1 Mets.  In the eighth a wild pitch made it 5-1 Mets.  The Mets won game one of three and they will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.

The New York Mets get shutout by the Miami Marlins



The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-0 Mets.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen wasn't great and David Wright had two of the teams three hits. 

Colon pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts and he lost his 12th game of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out two, Tyler Clippard pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Erik Goeddel pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk.  Sean Gilmartin pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits. 

Adam Conley pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  He won his fourth game of the season.  Mike Dunn pitched 2/3 of an inning and he walked two batters, Bryan Morris pitched to one batter and retired him and Kyle Barraclough pitched an inning striking out one. 

Juan Lagares drew a walk, Wright had two hits and Michael Cuddyer had a hit.  Dilson Herrera drew a walk, Wright hit a double and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Lagares had an outfield assist. 

Dee Gordon had two hits and an RBI, Christian Yelich had a hit and an RBI and Martin Prado had two hits and an RBI.  Justin Bour had a hit and two RBI, Marcell Ozuna had a hit and drew a walk and J.T. Realmuto had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Donovan Solano had a hit, Miguel Rojas had a hit and Conley had a hit.  Derek Dietrich drew a walk, Solano and Gordon each hit a double and Prado, Realmuto and Bour each hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 4-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ozuna was caught stealing.

In the fourth Prado hit a solo homerun giving the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Realmuto hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the sixth Bour hit a sac fly and it was 3-0 Marlins.  Bour hit a solo homerun in the eighth to make it 4-0 and in the ninth Gordon hit an RBI single and Yelich hit an RBI single to make it 6-0 which was the final score.  The Mets lost two out of three in the series and will have the day off on Thursday before beginning a three game series with their crosstown rivals the New York Yankees at home on Friday night.   

The New York Yankee pair of rookies lead them to a victory in Tampa Bay



The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 3-1 Yankees.  Luis Severino started and pitched very well, the bullpen did their job and Greg Bird led the offense with two RBI including a towering homerun. 

Severino pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up one run on six hits.  He walked one and struck out seven.  He won his fourth game of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning striking out two, Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and three walks with a strikeout and Andrew Miller saved his 34th game of the season pitching an inning and striking out the side. 

Chris Archer pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with four walks and seven strikeouts.  He lost his 12th game of the season.  C.J. Riefenhauser pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Andrew Bellatti pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits, Brian McCann drew a walk and Carlos Beltran drew a walk.  Bird had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit and drew a walk.  Bird and Gregorius each hit a double and Bird hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gregorius committed an error. 

John Jaso had a hit, Grady Sizemore drew a walk and Evan Longoria drew a walk.  Logan Forsythe drew a walk, James Loney had three hits and Steven Souza Jr. had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Rene Rivera had a hit, Loney, Jaso and Souza Jr. each hit a double.  The Rays were  0-9 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Mahtook had a stolen base. 

In the second Bird hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Headley hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Yankees.  In the bottom of the sixth Souza hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  Bird hit a solo homerun in the ninth to make it 3-1 and that was the final score.  The Yankees won two out of three in the series and will have the day off on Thursday before beginning a three game series with their crosstown rivals the New York Mets on Friday night at Citi Field.

The New York Mets keep on rolling in win over the Miami Marlins



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field and the final score was 4-3 Mets.  Logan Verrett started for the Mets and pitched well and Sean Gilmartin did not.  David Wright and Travis d'Arnaud each had two hits. 

Verrett pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Gilmartin pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk, Hansel Robles pitched an inning with a strikeout and won his fourth game of the season and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his 41st save of the season. 

Justin Nicolino pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Kyle Barraclough pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with three walks and two strikeouts and lost his first game of the season and Brian Ellington pitched a perfect inning. 

Juan Lagares had a hit, Wright had two hits and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Juan Uribe had a hit, d'Arnaud had two hits and two RBI and Wilmer Flores drew two walks.  Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Wright hit two doubles and Uribe hit a double.  Cespedes and d'Arnaud each hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Dee Gordon had two hits, Martin Prado drew a walk and Derek Dietrich had two hits and an RBI.  J.T. Realmuto had two hits and an RBI, Ichiro Suzuki drew a walk and Miguel Rojas had an RBI.  The Marlins were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gordon had a stolen base and Yelich had an outfield assist. 

In the third Cespedes hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Rojas hit an RBI groundout to tie the game at one.  In the sixth Dietrich hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 2-1 lead.  Realmuto hit an RBI single to make it 3-1 also in the sixth and then in the bottom of the sixth d'Arnaud hit a two run homerun to tie the game at three.  In the seventh Wright hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 4-3 lead and that would be the final score in the game.  The two teams will play game two on Tuesday night.   

New York Yankees drop game two in Tamp Bay as the bullpen doesn't come through



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 6-3.  Adam Warren started but coming back out of the bullpen he was very limited as he builds back up.  The bullpen didn't do their job and the offense was only two homeruns and some hard hit balls that were caught. 

Warren pitched four innings giving up six hits and two runs with no walks and four strikeouts.  James Pazos pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked a batter, Nick Rumbelow pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts and he took his first loss of the season and Chasen Shreve pitched a perfect inning striking out one.  Branden Pinder pitched 2/3 of an inning walking one and struck out two, Bryan Mitchell pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout  and Chris Martin retired the only batter that he faced.  

Jake Odorizzi pitched six innings giving up three hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Odorizzi won his eighth game of the season.  Enny Romero pitched an inning walking one and striking out one, Alex Colome pitched an inning giving up a hit and Brandon Gomes pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Rodriguez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Brian McCann had a hit and Greg Bird had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Didi Gregorius drew a walk, Stephen Drew had a walk and Dustin Ackley had a pinch hit.  Rodriguez and Bird each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  McCann committed an error and Gardner had an outfield assist. 

John Jaso had two hits and drew a walk, Gardy Sizemore had a hit and Steven Souza Jr. drew a walk.  Evan Longoria had a hit, Logan Forsythe had two hits and an RBI and Nick Franklin had a hit and two RBI.  James Loney had a hit, Mikie Mahtook had three hits and J.P. Arencibia had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Mahtook hit a double and Franklin hit a homerun.  The Rays were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Mahtook and Souza Jr. each had a stolen base and Franklin and Loney each committed an error. 

In the first Rodriguez hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Forsythe hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first to tie the game at one.  In the second a stolen base and throwing error by McCann led to a run and a 2-1 Rays lead.  In the fourth Bird hit a two run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Franklin hit a two run homerun to give the Rays a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Arencibia hit a two run single to give them a 6-3 lead which would be the final score.  The two teams will play the rubber game of the three game series on Wednesday night. 

The New York Yankees come up with huge rally in ninth to take the game in Tampa Bay



The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 4-1 Yankees.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and pitched great and the bullpen did their job.  The Yankees offense didn't do much but Alex Rodriguez had an RBI double in the ninth and Slade Heathcott had a three run homerun in the ninth.  

Sabathia pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts, Caleb Cotham won his first game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning striking out a batter and Andrew Miller saved his 33rd game of the season pitching a perfect inning and striking out the side. 

Erasmo Ramirez pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up one hits and no runs.  He walked two and struck out six.  Alex Colome struck out the only batter that he faced, Brad Boxberger blew his sixth save of the season and pitched 2/3 of an inning gave up three hits and four runs with two walks.  C.J. Riefenhauser pitched 1/3 of an inning walking one. 

Brett Gardner drew two walks, Alex Rodriguez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Brian McCann drew a walk.  Carlos Beltran had a hit, Heathcott had a hit and three RBI and Greg Bird drew a walk.  Dustin Ackley had a hit, Rodriguez hit a double and Heathcott hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Noel and Gardner each had a stolen base.  Ryan committed two errors and Headley committed an error. 

Mikie Mahtook had a hit, Logan Forsythe had a hit and an RBI and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit.  Steven Souza Jr. had a hit, Richie Shaffer drew two walks and Kevin Kiermaier had two hits.  Forsythe hit a double and the Rays were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Mahtook had a stolen base and an outfield assist. 

In the eighth Forsythe hit an RBI double to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Rodriguez hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  Heathcott hit a three run homerun to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead and that was the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

The New York Yankees salvage final game of series with Toronto by shutting them out



The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-0.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched great, the offense was led by Alex Rodriguez and Dustin Ackley who each had two hits. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up four hits and no runs with no walks and seven strikeouts.  He won his 12th game of the season, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning striking out the side, James Pazos pitched to one batter and retired him and Caleb Cotham pitched to two batters and retired them both. 

R.A. Dickey pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  He lost his 11th game of the season and Ryan Tepera pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Carlos Beltran had a hit, Brian McCann drew a walk and Rodriguez had two hits and an RBI.  Chase Headley had a hit and drew a walk, Ackley had two hits and three RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Gregorius and Rodriguez each hit a double.  Ackley hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Tanaka had a pickoff. 

Jose Bautista had a hit, Chris Colabello had a hit and Kevin Pillar had a hit.  Josh Thole had a hit, Bautista, Pillar and Colabello each hit a double.  The Blue Jays were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the second Ackley hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead and Gregorius hit a sac fly to make it 2-0.  In the fourth Ackley hit a two run homerun and it was 4-0 Yankees.  In the eighth Rodriguez hit an RBI double to make it 5-0 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees were able to salvage the final game and avoid a four game sweep.  They will head to Tampa Bay to take on the Rays in a three game series beginning on Monday night. 

The New York Mets defeat the Atlanta Braves as they roll towards the postseason



The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night.  The game took place at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 6-4.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched very well, Tyler Clippard didn't.  Daniel Murphy had two hits and Travis d'Arnaud had three hits to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard pitched seven innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Clippard pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and he saved his 40th game of the season. 

Williams Perez pitched six innings giving up eight hits and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Ryan Kelly pitched a perfect inning, Edwin Jackson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and Arodys Vizcaino pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and he lost  his first game of the season.  Andrew McKirahan pitched to one batter and walked him and Matt Marksberry pitched to two batters and retired them both.

In the first Freeman hit an RBI single to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Wright hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Johnson drew an RBI walk to give the Mets a 2-1 lead and in the sixth d'Arnaud hit an RBI single to increase the lead to 3-1 Mets.  In the eighth Cespedes hit a solo homerun to make it 4-1 Mets.  In the bottom of the eighth Garcia hit a three run homerun to tie the game at four.  In the ninth Johnson hit an RBI single and Cespedes reached on a fielder's choice and a run scored to make it 6-4 Mets which would be the final score.  The two teams will play the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon. 

The New York Yankees rally but fall short in game two loss to the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-7.  It was the second game of a doubleheader and the Yankees lost both games.  Ivan Nova started this game and wasn't very good, the bullpen was ok.  Brett Gardner led the offense with two homeruns and six RBI. 

Nova pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with a walk and a strikeout.  He lost his eighth game of the season.  Nick Rumbelow pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk, Chris Capuano pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with a walk and three strikeouts and Branden Pinder pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with three strikeouts.  James Pazos pitched a perfect inning. 

Marcus Stroman won his first game of the season in his first start of the season.  He pitched five innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Bo Schultz pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Aaron Loup pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Jeff Francis pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with a strikeout.  Steve Delabar pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Mark Lowe pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and he picked up his first save of the season.

Ben Revere had four hits and two RBI, Josh Donaldson had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Jose Bautista had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Justin Smoak had a hit, Russell Martin had a hit and two RBI and Ezequiel Carrera had two hits.  Ryan Goins had a hit and an RBI, Cliff Pennington had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Carrera, Bautista and Martin hit a double.  Pennington hit a homerun and the Blue Jays were 7-13 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Donaldson and Revere each had a stolen base and Martin had a passed ball. 

In the second Goins hit an RBI single, Pennington hit a two run homerun and Bautista hit an RBI double.  It was 4-0 Jays and Martin hit a two run double to make it 6-0 all in the second inning.  In the fifth Gardner hit a three run homerun to cut the lead to 6-3.  In the sixth Gregorius hit an RBI double to make it a 6-4 game.  The Yankees did leave runners at second and third though with one out.  In the seventh Revere hit a two run single to make it 8-4.  Donaldson hit an RBI single to make it 9-4 and Bautista hit an RBI single to make it 10-4 all in the seventh inning.  In the eighth Gardner hit a three run homerun to cut the lead to 10-7 but that would be the final score.  The teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.
