The New York Yankees win their second in a row over the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Clint Frazier had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched eight innings giving up two hits and a run with no walks and 14 strikeouts.  Tanaka won his eighth game of the season.  David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Austin Pruitt pitched five innings giving up four hits and five runs with two walks and seven strikeouts and lost his second game of the season.  Chase Whitley pitched two innings with two strikeouts and Adam Kolarek pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, C. Frazier had a hit and three RBI and Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI.  Gary Sanchez had a hit and drew a walk, Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI, Todd Frazier drew a walk and Gardner, Judge and C. Frazier each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-2 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base. 

Lucas Duda had a hit and an RBI, Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit and Duda hit a homerun.  The Rays left one man on base and Ramos had a passed ball.  Dickerson had an outfield assist. 

In the first Gardner hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Judge hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth C. Frazier hit a three-run homerun and the lead was extended to 5-0.  In the seventh Duda hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-1 and in the eighth Gregorius hit an RBI single to make it 6-1 and that would be the final score. 
The Yankees have taken the first two of the series and will play game three on Saturday afternoon

New York Mets are defeated by the San Diego Padres


The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Thursday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 7-5.  Chris Flexen made the start and his major league debut for the Mets.  He didn’t pitch very well.  The Mets had three batters with two hits and Jay Bruce had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Flexen pitched three innings giving up five hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out two and lost his first game of the season.  Tyler Pill pitched two innings giving up two hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout, Josh Edgin pitched a perfect inning and Fernando Salas pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Erik Goeddel pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Luis Perdomo pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and four runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Perdomo won his fifth game of the season.  Jose Torres pitched giving up a hit and a run,  Phil Maton pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings with three strikeouts and Brad Hand saved his fifth game of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Michael Conforto had two hits, Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and an RBI.  Bruce had a hit and three RBI, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew a walk.  Matt Reynolds had two hits, Conforto hit a double, Cabrera, Grandreson and Cespedes also each hit a double.  Bruce hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Conforto committed an error. 

Manuel Margot had three hits and three RBI, Carlos Asuaje drew two walks and Wil Myers had a hit.  Cory Spangenberg drew two walks, Jabari Blash had a hit and drew a walk and Dusty Coleman had two hits and three RBI.  Luis Torrens drew a walk, Margot hti a double and a homerun and Coleman hit a homerun.  The Padres were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Myers was caught stealing. 

In the first Bruce grounded into an RBI force out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Margot hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the second Margot hit a three run double to give the Padres a 4-1 lead.  In the fifth Coleman hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 7-1.  In the seventh Cespedes hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 7-2.  A balk brought home another run and Bruce hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 7-5.  The final score would be 7-5 and the Mets would begin a three game series with the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.

New York Yankees win on a walk-off to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-5.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he struggled, the bullpen pitched well.  Chase Headley led the offense with three hits and Brett Gardner hit a walk-off homerun. 

Sabathia pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs and a walk and three strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts, Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two.  Adam Warren pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Aroldis Chapman pitched two perfect innings with four strikeouts and earned his third win of the season. 

Chris Archer six innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and ten strikeouts.  Adam Kolarek pitched to one batter and retired him, Sergio Romo pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Dan Jennings pitched giving up two hits and a run.  Brad Boxberger pitched an inning giving up a hit, Alex Colome pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run and Andrew Kittredge pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his first game of the season. 

Gardner had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, C. Frazier had a hit and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Gary Sanchez had two hits and two RBI, Didi Gregorius had two hits and Headley had three hits and drew a walk.  Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Matt Holliday had an RBI and T. Frazier had two hits and an RBI.  Ellsbury hit a double and Gardner hit a triple.  Sanchez and Gardner each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 

Steven Souza Jr. had a hit and drew a walk, Brad Miller had a hit and two RBI and Evan Longoria had two hits and an RBI.  Corey Dickerson had two hits and an RBI, Tim Beckham had two hits and Adeiny Hechavarria had two hits.  Peter Bourjos had a hit and an RBI, Hechavarria, Bourjos and Miller each hit a double.  Longoria and Dickerson each hit a homerun and the Rays were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the second Ellsbury hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  T. Frazier hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the third Sanchez hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the fourth Longoria hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Bourjos hit an RBI double to cut it to 3-2 and Miller hit a two-run double to give the Rays the 4-3 lead.  In the sixth Dickerson hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 5-3.  In the eighth Holliday hit into an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 5-4.  In the ninth Sanchez hit an RBI single to tie the game at five.  In the 11th Gardner hit a solo homerun to walk it off and give the Yankees a 6-5 victory. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night. 

New York Mets are doubled up by the San Diego Padres


The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 6-3.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched poorly.  The Mets offense only managed five hits. 

Matz pitched three innings giving up nine hits and six runs with no walks and four strikeouts.  Matz lost his fourth game of the season.  Erik Goeddel pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Tyler Pill pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out one and Hansel Robles pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out four. 

Jhoulys Chacin pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Chacin won his tenth game of the season.  Buddy Baumann pitched 1/3 of an inning and walked one, Craig Stammen pitched 1 1/3 inning with a strikeout and Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.  Brad Hand pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his fourth save of the season. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and Jay Bruce drew a walk.  Wilmer Flores had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Lucas Duda had a hit and drew a walk, Jose Reyes had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Flores hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Jose Pirela had a hit, Manuel Margot had two hits and two RBI and Wil Myers had a hit and an RBI.  Hunter Renfroe had a hit, Jabari Blash had a hit and Carlos Asuaje had a hit.  Cory Spangenberg had a hit, Luis Torrens had a hit and three RBI and Chacin had a hit.  Matt Szczur drew a walk, Renfroe and Myers each hit a double and Margot and Torrens each hit a triple.  Margot hit a homerun and the Padres were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Margot hit a two-run homerun to give the Padres a 2-0 lead.  In the second Reyes hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Myers hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 3-1 and Torrens hit a three-run triple to push the lead to 6-1.  In the sixth Reyes drew an RBI walk to make it a 6-2 game.  Flores hit a solo homerun in the eighth to cut the lead to 6-3 and that would be the final score.   

New York Yankees earn the two game sweep with win over the Cincinnati Reds


The New York Yankees defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-5.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Brett Gardner, Clint Frazier, Todd Frazier and Ronald Torreyes each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched seven innings giving up three hits and two unearned runs.  He walked two and struck out nine and won his seventh game of the season.  Luis Cessa pitched an inning giving up a hit and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts and David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Homer Bailey started for the Reds and he pitched six innings giving up ten hits and seven runs with five of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out none and lost his fifth game of the season.  Tony Cingrani pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout, Asher Wojciechowski pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Raisel Iglesias pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Gardner had two hits and drew a walk, C. Fraizer had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI.  Matt Holliday had a hit and an RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and two RBI and Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI.  T. Fraizer had two hits and an RBI, Torreyes had two hits and an RBI and Sanchez hit a double.  Gregorius and T. Frazier each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and Gregorius committed an error. 

Joey Votto had two hits and drew two walks, Adam Duvall had a hit and three RBI and Eugenio Suarez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Tucker Barnhart had an RBI, Suarez hit a double and Duvall hit a homerun.  The Reds were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Peraza and Votto each committed an error. 

In the third C. Frazier hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth C. Frazier hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the sixth Headley hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.  Torreyes hit an RBI ground out and it was 4-0 Yankees.  In the seventh Suarez hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 4-1.  Barnhart hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the seventh Sanchez hit an RBI double to make it a 5-2 game.  Holliday hit an RBI single and Gregorius hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 8-2.  T. Frazier hit a solo homerun and it was 9-2 Yankees.  In the eighth Duvall hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 9-5 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees swept the brief two game series and will begin a four game series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night.

The New York Yankees defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-2.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he won his seventh game of the season.  He pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and six strikeouts.  Tommy Khanle pitched to one batter and retired him, Dellin Betances pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout and Adam Warren pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning and saved his 12th game of the season. 

Luis Castillo pitched five innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  He lost his fourth game of the season.   Wandy Peralta pitched pitched an inning giving up a walk, Drew Storen pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Michael Lorenzen pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.

Billy Hamilton had a hit and an RBI, Adam Duvall had a hit and drew a walk and Devin Mesoraco drew a walk.  Scott Schebler had a hit, Jose Peraza drew a walk and Arismendy Alcantara had an RBI and Schebler and Hamilton each hit a double.  The Reds were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Mesoraco had a passed ball. 

In the second Frazier hit into a triple play and a run scored to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Gregorius hit a sac fly to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Romine hit an RBI double to push the lead to 3-0.  In the sixth Alcantara hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the eighth Hamiilton hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 3-2 and in the bottom of the eighth Gregorius hit a solo homerun to make it 4-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday afternoon.

The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Monday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 5-3.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Asdrubal Cabrera led the offense with three hits. 

deGrom pitched eight innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  deGrom won his 12th game of the season.  Addison Reed saved his 17th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Clayton Richard pitched eight innings giving up 12 hits and five runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Richard lost his 11th game of the season.  Jose Ruis pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Michael Conforto had a hit, Cabrera had three hits and drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks.  Jay Bruce had two hits and two RBI, Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI and Lucas Duda had two hits.  Jose Reyes had a hit, Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and an RBI and Duda, Conforto and Cabrera each hit a double.  Cespedes hit a triple and Flores, Cespedes, Bruce and d’Arnaud each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Reyes had a stolen base.

Bruce hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Bruce hit an RBI single and the lead was 4-0.  In the seventh Renfroe hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the eighth d’Arnaud hit an RBI single to push the lead to 5-1.  In the bottom of the eighth Asuaje hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 5-2.  In the ninth Renfroe hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-3 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets were defeated by the Oakland Athletics


The New York Mets were defeated by the Oakland Athletics on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Rafael Montero started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Michael Conforto had two hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Montero pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked one and struck out four and lost his seventh game of the season.  Fernando Salas pitched an inning giving up a hit and Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk. 

Daniel Gossett pitched six innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  He won his second game of the season.  Daniel Coulombe pitched an inning with a strikeout, Blake Treinen pitched an inning with a strikeout and Santiago Casilla pitched an inning giving up a hit and he saved his 16th game of the season. 

Conforto had two hits and an RBI, Curtis Granderson drew a walk and Jay Bruce had a hit.  T.J. Rivera had a hit, Jose Reyes had an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit and drew a walk.  Montero had a hit, T. Rivera hti a double and Conforto hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Bruce had an outfield assist and Rene Rivera had a pickoff. 

Marcus Semien had two hits and an RBI, Khris Davis had two hits and an RBI and Jedd Lowrie had a hit and drew two walks.  Matt Chapman had two hits and an RBI, Jaycob Brugman had a hit and Matt Olson had a hit.  Chapman hit a double, Semien, Davis and Chapman each hit a homerun and the Athletics were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Davis had a stolen base, Lowrie was caught stealing and Chapman was picked off. 

In the first Semien hit a solo homerun to give the Athletics a 1-0 lead.  In the third Conforto hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Davis hit a solo homerun to give the Athletics a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Reyes hit an RBI groundout to tie the game at two.  In the seventh Chapman hit a solo homerun to give the Athletics a 3-2 lead and that would be the final score. 

New York Mets rally back and win on a walk-off to defeat the Oakland Athletics


The New York Mets defeated the Oakland Athletics on Saturday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-5.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very well.  The Mets bullpen pitched well and Travis d’Arnaud had three hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched five innings giving up seven hits and five runs with four walks and six strikeouts.  Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up a hit, Josh Edgin pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout and Hansel Robles won his sixth game of the season pitching an inning with a walk. 

Sean Manaea pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up ten hits and four runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Blake Treinen pitched 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts, Liam Hendriks pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Daniel Coulombe pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Simon Castro lost his first game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.

Matt Joyce had a hit and an RBI, Marcus Semien had a hit and drew a walk and Yonder Alonso had a hit.  Khris Davis had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Jedd Lowrie had a hit and drew a walk and Bruce Maxwell had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Matt Chapman had a hit and two RBI, Jaycob Brugman had two hits and Manaea drew a walk.  Ryan Healy had a hit, Maxwell hit a double and Joyce and Chapman each hit a homerun.  The Athletics were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Semien had a stolen base and Chpman committed an error. 

In the first Joyce hit a solo homerun to give the Athletics a 1-0 lead, Davis hit an RBI single, Maxwell hit an RBI double and Chapman hit a sac fly to make it 4-0.  In the third Chapman hit a solo homerun and the lead was pushed to 5-0.  In the sixth Bruce hit a two-run homerun, d’Arnaud hit an RBI single and Conforto hit an RBI double.  It was 5-4 Athletics.  In the eighth Duda hit an RBI single to tie the game at five and in the ninth Flores hit a solo homerun which was also a walk-off to give the Mets a 6-5 victory. 

New York Yankees finish long road trip with a victory in Seattle


The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 6-4.  Caleb Smith started for the Yankees in his major league starting debut and didn’t pitch very well.  The Yankees bullpen was great and Brett Gardner, Didi Gregorius and Chase Headley each had two hits. 

Smith pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs.  He walked one and struck out two.  Chad Green pitched 2 1/3 perfect inning with three strikeouts and earned his first win of the season, Delllin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and David Robertson pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and earned his 11th save of the season.   

Yovani Gallardo pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  James Pazos pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two walks, Tony Zych pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Emilio Pagan pitched three innings giving up two hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

Danny Valencia had a hit, Robinson Cano had a hit and Nelson Cruz had a hit and drew a walk.  Kyle Seager had two hits, Ben Gamel had a hit and two RBI and Guillermo Heredia had a hit and two RBI.  Seager hit two doubles and Heredia hit a double.  The Mariners were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Motter was caught stealing and Ruiz had a passed ball.  Haniger had an outfield assist. 

In the first Gardner led off the game with a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Gregorius hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Gregorius hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fourth Gamel hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 3-2 and Heredia hit a two-run double to give Seattle a 4-3 lead.  In the sixth Gardner hit an RBI single to tie the game at four.  Frazier hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 6-4 lead and that would be the final score. 
The Yankees took two out of three and finished their road trip 6-5 and will have Monday off.  They will begin a brief two game series with the Cincinnatti Reds at home on Tuesday night in the Bronx.

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.  The game took place in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 6-5 in ten innings.   Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well.  Clint Frazier had two hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up seven hits and four runs with six strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched a perfect inning, David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning striking out the side.  Adam Warren pitched giving up two hits and a run without recording an out. 

Ariel Miranda pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Steve Cishek pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run, David Phelps pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings with two strikeouts and Mark Rzepczynski pitched giving up a hit and a run.  Nick Vincent pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Tony Zych pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and he won his fourth game of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, C. Frazier had two hits and Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Matt Holliday had a hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez had a hit and Didi Gregorius had a hit and drew a walk.  Garrett Cooper had a hit, Ronald Torreyes had a hti and two RBI and Sanchez, Holliday and C. Frazier each hit a double.  Cooper hit a triple and Judge hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Jacoby Ellsbury had a stolen base. 

Ben Gamel had two hits and an RBI, Robinson Cano had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Nelson Cruz had two hits and an RBI.  Danny Valencia had a hit and an RBI, Mitch Haniger had two hits and an RBI and Mike Zunino had a hit and an RBI.  Gamel hit a double and Zunino, Gamel and Cano each hit a homerun.  The Mariners were 3-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gamel had an outfield assist. 

In the second T. Fraizer hit into a double play and a run scored to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Zunino hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Gamel hit a solo homerun to give Seattle a 2-1 lead.  Valencia hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 3-1.  Haniger hit an RBI single and the lead was extended to 4-1.  In the fifth Torreyes hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the sixth Judge hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the eighth Holliday hit a sac fly to tie the game at four.  In the bottom of the eighth Cano hit a solo homerun to give the Mariners a 5-4 lead.  In the ninth Torreyes hit an RBI single to tie the game at five.  In the tenth Cruz hit an RBI single to give Seattle the 6-5 walk-off win.

New York Mets defeat Oakland Athletics


The New York Mets defeated the Oakland Athletics on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-5.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched ok and the offense was led by Michael Conforto having two hits and four RBI and Yoenis Cespedes three hits. 

Matz pitched five innings giving up nine hits and three runs.  He struck out five and didn’t walk a batter.  Hansel Robles won his fifth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit with two strikeouts, Paul Sewald pitched an inning with two walks and Erik Goeddel pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout.  Addison Reed pitched giving up a hit and a walk without recording an out and Jerry Blevins pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out two and he saved his first game of the season. 

Paul Blackburn pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Blackburn lost his first game of the season.  Daniel Coulombe pitched to one batter and gave up a hit, Blake Treinen pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a unearned run and Frankie Montas pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  John Axford pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Conforto had two hits and four RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera drew a walk and Cespedes had three hits.  Lucas Duda had a hit, T.J. Rivera had two hits and two RBI and Travis d’Arnaud had a hit.  Matz had a hit, Matt Reynolds drew a walk and Conforto hit two homeruns and the Mets were 3-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Rajai Davis had two hits and drew two walks, Marcus Semien had four hits and two RBI and Ryan Healy had two hits and an RBI.  Yonder Alonso had an RBI, Khris Davis had an RBI and Matt Joyce had two hits.  Adam Rosales had a hit, Josh Phegley had two hits and Jedd Lowrie had a hit and an RBI.  Phegley hit a double and the Athletics were 5-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Davis and Semien each had a stolen base and Chapman committed an error.  Phegley had a passed ball and Davis had an outfield assist. 

In the first Healy hit an RBI single to give the A’s a 1-0 lead.  In the third Conforto hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the fifth Semien hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Davis hit a sac fly to give the A’s a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth T. Rivera hit a single and three runs scored including an error on the play to give the Mets a 5-3 lead.  In the seventh Conforto hit a two-run homerun and it was 7-3.  In the eighth Lowrie hit an RBI single and Semien hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-5 but that would be the final score. 

New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and pitched well.  Michael Conforto had two hits and drew two walks. 

Lugo pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Erik Goeddel pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning and won his first game of the season. 

Lance Lynn pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Matt Bowman pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Brett Cecil pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and Trevor Rosenthal pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and lost his fourth game of the season. 

Conforto had two hits and drew two walks, Lucas Duda had a hit and an RBI and T.J. Rivera had a hit.  Jose Reyes had a hit and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Conforto hit a double, Duda and Flores each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Matt Carpenter drew a walk, Tommy Pham had two hits and two RBI and Dexter Fowler had a hit.  Greg Garcia had two hits, Eric Fryer had a hit and Garcia and Pham each hit a double.  Pham hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Fowler was caught stealing. 

In the second Duda hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Pham hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Pham hit a solo homerun to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the eighth Flores hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the ninth Reyes hit an RBI single to give the Mets a Pham hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Pham hit a solo homerun to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the eighth Flores hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the ninth Reyes hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 3-2 walk-off win.   

New York Yankees win second in a row in Seattle


The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.  The game took place at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 5-1.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, the bullpen was really good and Didi Gregorius had three hits and Chase Headley two with four RBI from Aaron Judge to lead the offense. 

Sabathia pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and five strikeouts.  Sabathia won his ninth game of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning with a strikeout, David Robertson pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two.  Adam Warren pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Andrew Moore pitched six innings giving up nine hits and five runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Moore lost his second game of the season.  Emilio Pagan pitched three innings giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Gary Sanchez had a hit and drew a walk and Judge had a hit, four RBI and drew a walk.  Matt Holliday had a hit, Starlin Castro had a hit and Gregorius had three hits.  Headley had two hits, C. Frazier had a hit and an RBI and Headley and C. Frazier each hit a double.  Judge hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Robinson Cano had a hit and drew a walk, Nelson Cruz had a hit and drew a walk and Kyle Seager had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Mitch Haniger had two hits, Ben Gamel had two hits and Gamel and Cano each hit a double.  The Mariners were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the first Seager hit an RBI single to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead.  In the third C. Frazier hit an RBI double, Judge hit a sac fly and it was 2-1 Yankees.  In the fifth Judge hit a three-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees defeat King Felix and the Seattle Mariners

The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Thursday night.  The game took place at

Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 4-1.  Luis Severino started for the

Yankees and he pitched great.  Didi Gregorius and Chase Headley each had two hits to lead the

offense. 

Severino pitched seven innings giving up eight hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out six and won his sixth game of the season.  Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Felix Hernandez lost his fourth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up three hits and a run.  He walked two and struck out nine.  James Pazos pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run, Tony Zych pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Max Povse pitched an inning giving up two hits and two unearned runs. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gregorius had two hits and drew a walk, Todd Frazier had a hit and Headley had two hits.  Gregorius hit a double and Gardner hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Severino committed an error. 

Jean Segura had a hit, Ben Gamel had a hit and Robinson Cano had three hits and an RBI.  Nelson Cruz had a hit, Kyle Seager had a hit and Danny Valencia had two hits.  Mitch Haniger had a hit, Mike Zunino drew two walks and Gamel, Seager and Cano each hit a double.  The Mariners were 2-14 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Segura and Cano each committed an error. 

In the sixth Gardner hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Judge hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the ninth Headley reached on a throwing error and two runs scored to extend the lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the ninth Cano hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 4-1 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.

The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-3.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Asdrubal Cabrera had three hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  deGrom won his 11th game of the season.  Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up two runs and two walks with two strikeouts, Jerry Blevins pitched giving up two hits and a walk without recording an out and Addison Reed pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and struck out two and saved his 16th game of the season. 

Mike Leake started for the Cardinals and pitched two innings giving up ten hits and seven runs with four of them being earned.  He walked one and didn’t strike out a batter.  John Brebbia pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Kevin Siegrist pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Sam Tuivailala pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Seung Hwan Oh pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Michael Conforto had a hit, Cabrera had three hits and Jay Bruce had a hit and an RBI.  Yoenis Cespedes had two hits and two RBI, Lucas Duda had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Jose Reyes had two hits and two RBI, Travis d’Arnaud had two hits and Duda, Cespedes and d’Arnaud each hit a double.  The Mets were 6-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

Luke Voit had a hit and an RBI, Tommy Pham had a hit and Dexter Fowler drew a walk.  Jose Martinez drew a walk, Jedd Gyorko had a hit and Yadier Molina had a hit.  Eric Fryer drew a walk, Kolten Wong had two hits and Magneuris Sierra had three hits and two RBI.  Leake had a hit, Adam Wainwright drew a walk and Voit hit a double.  The Cardinals were 2-9 with runners in scoring position an dleft 11 men on base.  Gyorko committed an error. 

In the first Cespedes hit an RBI single, Duda hit an RBI double and Flores hit an RBI single to make it 3-0.  In the second Bruce hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0.  Cespedes hit an RBI double and the lead was pushed to 5-0.  Reyes hit a two-run single to make it 7-0.  In the seventh Voit hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 7-1.  In the eighth Sierra hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 7-3 but that was the final score.
