New York Yankees win streak ends with loss in Toronto

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.  The game took 

place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 2-1.  Nestor Cortes Jr. started for the 

Yankees and he was wild but kept them in the game.  The pen was great and the offense only managed 

five hits.  


Cortes pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  

Michael King pitched three perfect innings with three strikeouts and Clay Holmes pitched a 

perfect inning with a strikeout.  


Yusei Kikuchi started for the Blue Jays and he pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run.  He

walked one and struck out seven, David Phelps pitched 1/3 of an inning with two walks, Tim Mayza

pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Yimi Garcia pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Jordan

Romano saved his 12th game of the season pitching an inning giving up two hits and a walk with a

strikeout.  


DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit.  Josh Donaldson 

had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Hicks drew a walk and Joey Gallo had a hit, an RBI and drew a 

walk.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit which was a double.  Gallo hit a homerun and they were 0-8 with

runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  


Bo Bichette had a hit and drew a walk, Vlad Guerrero Jr. had a hit and an RBI and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

had a hit.  Matt Chapman had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Santiago Espinal drew a walk and Vinny

Capra drew a walk.  Bichette and Gurriel Jr. hit a double and Chapman hit a homerun.  The Jays were

1-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.


In the bottom of the second Chapman hit a solo homerun giving the Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the third Gallo 

hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the bottom of the third Guerrero Jr. hit an RBI single 

giving the Jays a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The Yankees won two out of three and

saw their 11 game win streak end.  They will come home and start a three-game series with the Texas

Rangers.  



The Mets stun the Phillies with amazing ninth inning rally

 The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night.  The game took place at 

Citizens Bank Park and the final score was 8-7.  Taijuan Walker started for the Mets and he was bad.  The

bullpen was good and Starling Marte led the offense with three hits.


Walker pitched four innings giving up nine hits and seven runs with six earned.  He walked two and struck 

out two, Chasen Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and struck out one and Adonis Medina 

pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and struck out one.  Medina won his first game of the season.  Edwin

Diaz pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and earned his sixth save of the season.  


Aaron Nola started for the Phillies and pitched seven innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk

and seven strikeouts.  Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, James Norwood pitched 

1/3 of an inning giving up four hits and four runs and Corey Knebel pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 

four hits and three runs with a strikeout.  Knebel lost his second game of the season and blew his first 

save.  


Brandon Nimmo had a hit and two RBI, Marte had three hits and two RBI and Francisco Lindor had

a hit and two RBI.  Pete Alonso had two hits, Jeff McNeil had two hits and drew a walk and Mark Canha

had a hit and an RBI.  J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI, Alonso, Davis and Marte each hit a double.  

Marte and Lindor each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left 

four on base.  Lindor and McNeil each committed an error.  


Kyle Schwarber had a hit and drew a walk, Alec Bohm had two hits and Bryce Harper had two hits

and two RBI.  Nick Castellanos had a hit and three RBI, J.T. Realmuto had a hit and an RBI and Rhys

Hoskins drew a walk.  Jean Segura had three hits and an RBI, Odubel Herrera had two hits and Harper,

Schwarber and Bohm each hit a double.  Harper and Castellanos each hit a homer.  The Phillies were 

4-16 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  


In the first Harper hit an RBI double and Castellanos hit an RBI groundout to make it a 2-0 game.

Realmuto hit an RBI single and Segura hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 4-0.  In the second 

Castellanos hit into a force out and a run scored making it 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Harper hit a 

solo homer extending the lead to 6-0.  Castellanos hit a solo homer and it was 7-0.  In the sixth Marte

hit a solo homer cutting the lead to 7-1.  In the ninth Lindor hit a two-run homer making it 7-3, Canha hit

an RBI single and Davis hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 7-5.  Nimmo hit a two-run single and Marte 

hit an RBI double to give the Mets an 8-7 lead and that would be the final.  It was an amazing comeback 

by the Mets.  


 

New York Mets get hit hard by the Atlanta Braves

 The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.  The game took place at Citi

Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 9-2.  Tylor Megill started for the Mets and he was 

ok.  The bullpen was not good and Starling Marte led the team with two hits.  


Megill pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and nine strikeouts.  

Megill lost his first game of the season.  Adam Ottavino gave up two hits and three runs with a walk and

he didn’t record an out and Trevor Williams pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with

a walk and six strikeouts.  


Ian Anderson started for the Braves and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with four

walks and a strikeout.  Collin McHugh pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out two,

A.J. Minter pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Darren O’Day pitched an inning giving up a

hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  


Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew two walks, Marte had two hits and Francisco Lindor drew a walk.

Pete Alonso had a hit, Eduardo Escobar had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and J.D. Davis had a hit and 

drew a walk, Luis Guillorme had a hit and an RBI and James McCann had a hit.  Alonso and Escobar each

hit a double and Guillorme hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and

left nine men on base.  Lindor committed an error.  


Ronald Acura Jr. had a hit and an RBI, Matt Olson had an RBI and drew a walk and Austin Riley had

a hit.  Marcell Ozuna had a hit, Ozzie Albies had a hit and Travis d’Arnaud had an RBI and drew a 

walk.  Adam Duvall had two hits and two RBI, Dansby Swanson had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.

Guillermo Heredia had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Duvall hit a double, Heredia hit a homer.

The Braves were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  


In the sixth d’Arnaud had an RBI walk and Duvall hit a two-run double giving the Braves a 3-0 lead.

A wild pitch pushed the lead to 4-0 and Swanson hit an RBI single making it 5-0.  Acuna Jr. hit an

RBI single and Olson hit an RBI groundout extending the lead to 7-0.  In the bottom of the sixth

Escobar hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 7-1.  In the eighth Heredia hit a two-run homer pushing

the lead to 9-1.  In the bottom of the ninth Guillorme hit a solo homer cutting the lead to 9-2 and that 

would be the final score.

New York Mets sweep doubleheader from the Atlanta Braves

 

The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves in game two of a doubleheader on Tuesday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Carlos Carrasco started for the Mets and he pitched very well.  Jeff McNeil, Pete Alonso and James McCann each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Carrasco won his second game of the season pitching eight innings and giving up six hits and no runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Seth Lugo picked up his second save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Kyle Wright started for the Braves and he pitched seven innings giving up nine hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Wright lost his first game of the season and Will Smith pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, McNeil had two hits and Alonso had two hits and an RBI.  Dom Smith had a hit and two RBI, Mark Canha had a hit and J.D. Davis drew a walk.  McCann had two hits, Smith hit a double and Alonso hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Ronald Acuna Jr. had a hit and drew a walk, Matt Olson had two hits and Ozzie Albies had two hits.  Adam Duvall had a hit, Travis Demeritte drew a walk and William Contreras had a hit.  Acuna Jr. hit a double and Olson hit two doubles.  The Braves were 0-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the bottom of the first Smith hit a two-run double to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Alonso hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 3-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Wednesday night.   

New York Mets win game one of a doubleheader over the Atlanta Braves

 

The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4.  David Peterson started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch great, the bullpen pitched well.  Travis Jankowski and Pete Alonso each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Peterson pitched five innings giving up four hits and four runs with three being earned.  He walked three and struck out six and won his first game of the season.  Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Drew Smith pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out two and Edwin Diaz picked up his fifth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Charlie Morton started for the Braves and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with four being earned.  He walked three and struck out three and took his third loss of the season.  Jesse Chavez pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Jankowski had two hits and drew a walk, Mark Canha had an RBI and Francisco Lindor had an RBI.  Alonso had two hits and two RBI, Eduardo Escobar had a hit and an RBI and Starling Marte had a hit.  Luis Guillorme drew two walks, Tomas Nido had a hit and the Mets were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Jankowski had a stolen base and Marte was caught stealing.  Peterson committed an error. 

Matt Olso had a hit, three RBI and drew two walks, Austin Riley had a hit an ddrew a walk and Adam Duvall drew a walk.  Dansby Swanson had a hit, Travis Demeritte had a hit and an RBI, Orlando Arcia had a hit and Swanson hit a double.  Olson hit a homerun and the Braves were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Morton and d’Arnaud committed an error. 

In the bottom of the first Alonso hit an RBI single, Escobar hit an RBI single and the Mets had a 2-0 lead.  In the second Demeritte hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the second Lindor hit into a force out and a run scored pushing the lead to 3-1.  Alonso hit an RBI single and it was 4-1 Mets.  In the bottom of the fourth Canha hti a sac fly making it a 5-1 game.  In the fifth Olson hit a three-run homerun cutting the lead to 5-4 and that would be the final score.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Monday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Chris Bassitt started for the Mets and he pitched well, Starling Marte and Mark Canha led the offense with two hits each. 

Bassitt pitched seven innings giving up six hits and three runs and he walked one and struck out eight.  Bassitt took his second loss of the season.  Trevor May pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Max Fried started for the Braves and he pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  Fried won his third game of the season.  Tyler Matzek pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two walks and he struck out one, Collin McHugh pitched to one batter and struck him out and A.J. Minter pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Kenley Jansen pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and picked up his seventh save of the season. 

Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Canha had two hits and an RBI and Marte had two hits.  Jeff McNeil had a hit and drew a walk, Marte hit a double and Canha hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Nimmo had an outfield assist. 

Ronald Acuna Jr. had a hit, Matt Olson drew a walk and Austin Riley had two hits and an RBI.  Ozzie Albies had two hits, Travis d’Arnaud had three hits and three RBI and Adam Duvall had an RBI.  Dansby Swanson drew a walk, d’Arnaud hit two doubles and Riley hit a homerun.  The Braves were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Albies committed an error. 

In the bottom of the second a wild pitch gave the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the third a Canha solo homerun extended the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Riley hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 2-1 and in the sixth d’Arnaud hit an RBI double to tie the game at two.  Duvall hit into a sac fly double play giving the Braves a 3-2 lead.  In the eighth d’Arnaud hit a two-run double pushing the Braves lead to 5-2 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play a doubleheader on Tuesday.

New York Yankees hold on for tenth straight in Toronto

 The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.  The game took place at

Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 3-2.  Jordan Montgomery started and pitched 

well and the bullpen was good.  Gleyber Torres led the offense with three RBI.


Montgomery pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs with five strikeouts.  Jonathan

Loaisiga pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one, Miguel Castro pitched 2/3 of an inning 

giving up a hit and a walk and Clay Holmes pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out

one and picked up his second win of the season.  Chad Green earned his first save of the season pitching 

a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  


Ross Stripling started for the Blue Jays and he pitched four innings giving up five hits and two runs.

He struck out three, David Phelps pitched 1 2/3 perfect innings, Trevor Richards pitched 1 1/3 innings 

striking out one and Adam Cimber pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Yimi Garcia pitched 

an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Garcia took his second loss of the season.


DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit.  Josh Donaldson had 

a hit, Torres had two hits and three RBI and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit.  Kiner-Falefa hit a double 

Torres hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men

on base.  Judge, LeMahieu and Locastro each had a stolen base.  


George Springer had two hits, Bo Bichette had two hits and an RBI and Vlad Guerrero had a hit and

drew a walk.  Lourdes Gurriel Jr.  had a hit, Matt Chapman had a hit and an RBI and Alejandro Kirk

had a hit and drew a walk.  Tyler Heineman had a hit, Bichette and Heineman each hit a double and

the Blue Jays were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Guerrero committed an

error.  


In the fourth Torres hit a two-run homer giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth

Bichette hit an RBI double and Chapman hit an RBI single tying the game at two.  In the ninth Torres

hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead and that would be the final score.  


The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.  The Yankees have won ten straight games.

New York Yankees rally to sweep the Kansas City Royals

 The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place

at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri and the final score was 6-4.  Luis Severino started for the

Yankees and he battled, the bullpen was good.  The offense was led by Aaron Judge who had two homers.


Severino pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs with three being earned.  He walked one

and struck out four.  Clarke Schmidt pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and picked

up his second win of the season.  Lucas Luetge pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and he struck 

out one, Michael King pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out two and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning

giving up a hit and a walk and he picked up his sixth save of the season.  


Daniel Lynch started for the Royals and he pitched five innings giving up four hits and three runs.

He walked one and struck out four, Taylor Clarke pitched an inning giving up two hits, Dylan Coleman

lost his first game of the season giving up two walks and two runs.  Scott Barlow pitched two innings 

giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Josh Staumont pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run

with a walk and two strikeouts.  


DJ LeMahieu had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Judge had two hits and three RBI and Josh Donaldson 

had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and drew a walk, Miguel Andujar

had two hits and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Kiner-Falefa hit a double, Judge

hit two homeruns and the Yankees were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.

Donaldson committed an error.  


Nicky Lopez had two hits, Whit Merrifield had two hits and drew a walk and Andrew Benintendi had

a hit and drew a walk.  Carlos Santana had a hit and an RBI, Kyle Isbel had a hit and Michael Taylor

had two hits and an RBI.  Cam Gallagher had a hit, Edward Olivares had a hit and Benintendi and 

Santana each hit a double and Taylor hit a homerun.  The Royals were 1-10 with runners in scoring 

position and left eight men on base.  Olivares was caught stealing.


In the first Judge hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Taylor hit a solo homer

tying the game at one.  A wild pitch scored another run and Santana hit an RBI double making it 3-1.

In the fourth Gallagher hit a sac bunt and a run scored pushing the Royals lead to 4-1.  In the fifth 

Kiner-Falefa hit an RBI double and LeMahieu an RBI single cutting the lead to 4-3.  In the seventh

Judge hit an RBI groundout tying the game at four and Donaldson reached on a fielders choice scoring 

a run and making it 5-4 Yankees.  In the ninth Judge hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 6-4 and 

that would be the final score.  The Yankees swept the three-game series and have won nine in a row.

They will head to Toronto to begin a three game series on Monday night.

New York Yankees blank the Kansas City Royals

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Saturday night.  The game took place at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri and the final score was 3-0.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen pitched well also.  Gleyber Torres, Aaron Hicks and Joey Gallo each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Cole pitched six innings giving up five hits and no runs.  He walked two and struck out six.  Cole won his second game of the season.  Miguel Castro pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Clay Holmes pitched an inning giving up a hit and Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning and picked up his fifth save of the season. 

Carlos Hernandez started for the Royals and he pitched four innings giving up four hits and three runs with two being earned.  He walked five and struck out three and took his first loss of the season.  Joey Payamps pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out one and Ronald Bolanos pitched three innings giving up two hits and three walks with a strikeout. 

Josh Donaldson had a hit and drew two walks, Anthony Rizzo drew two walks and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit.  Torres had two hits and an RBI, Hicks had two hits and drew two walks and Gallo had two hits.  Isiah Kiner-Falefa had an RBI and drew a walk, Jose Trevino drew a walk and Donaldson hit a double.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Rizzo and Kiner-Falefa were caught stealing and Kiner-Falefa committed an error. 

Whit Merrifield had a hit and drew two walks, Andrew Benintendi drew a walk and Carlos Santana had a hit.  Hunter Dozier had two hits, Bobby Witt Jr. had a hit and Edward Olivares had two hits.  Dozier hit a double and the Royals were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Olivares had a stolen base and Lopez committed an error. 

In the second Kiner-Falefa hit into a double play and a run scored giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Torres hit a sac fly pushing the lead to 2-0 and in the fourth Kiner-Falefa hit a sac fly making it a 3-0 game which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon with the Yankees looking for the sweep and their ninth straight victory.

New York Mets fall to the Philadelphia Phillies

 The New York Mets were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.  The game took place at

Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-1.  Taijuan Walker started for the Mets 

and pitched well and Mark Canha led the offense with two hits.


Walker pitched five innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Trevor May

pitched an inning giving up a hit, Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three 

runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Ottavino took his first loss of the season.  Sean Reid-Foley pitched 

an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Chasen Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings with three

strikeouts.  


Kyle Gibson started for the Phillies and he pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up two hits and an unearned run.

He walked five and struck out three, Jose Alvarado struck out both guys he faced, James Norwood 

pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Seranthony Dominguez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up

a hit and he struck out one.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning with two walks and Corey Knebel

pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and he earned his fourth save of the

season.

In the bottom of the fifth Lindor reached on a fielders choice and a run scored giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.

In the seventh Schwarber hit a two-run homerun, Herrera hit an RBI double and in the eighth Hoskins

hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 4-1.  The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on

Sunday night.  

New York Mets throw a combined no hitter to beat the Phillies

 The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field

in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Tyler Megill started and pitched great and the bullpen

was great.  Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil each had two hits to lead the offense.  


Megill pitched five scoreless innings giving up no hits and three walks.  Megill struck out five and won 

his fourth game of the season.  Drew Smith pitched 1 1/3 innings with a walk and four strikeouts, Joely

Rodriguez pitched an inning with two walks and Seth Lugo retired both batters he faced.  Edwin Diaz 

pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and earning his fourth save of the season.

Bryce Harper drew a walk, Kyle Schwarber drew three walks and Didi Gregorius drew a walk.  Johan

Camargo drew a walk, the Phillies were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.

Schwarber had a stolen base, Nelson committed an error and Schwarber had an outfield assist. 


In the bottom of the fifth McNeil hit a two-run single to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the

sixth Alonso hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-0.
