New York Yankees crush the New York Mets


The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 10-3.  Luis Cessa started for the Yankees and pitched ok, he struggled with his command a little bit.  Aaron Judge and Brett Gardner each had two hits and Giancarlo Stanton hit his first homerun as a Yankee. 

Cessa pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Cessa did pick up the win.  David Robertson pitched to two batters and struck them both out, Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Adam Warren pitched two innings giving up four hits and a run with three strikeouts, Chad Green pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and James Reeves pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Jordan Foley pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Gardner had two hits and drew a walk, Estevan Florial had a hit and Judge had two hits and drew a walk.  Shane Robinson had an RBI, Stanton had a hit and two RBI and Brandon Drury had a hit and two RBI.  Tyler Austin had an RBI, Francisco Diaz had a hit and Jace Peterson had a hit and drew a walk.  Ronald Torreyes had a hit, Abiatal Avelino had an RBI and Kyle Holder had two hits and two RBI.  Judge, Torreyes and Holder each hit a double and Stanton hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Drury hit an RBI single and Austin hit an RBI ground out to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the third Drury hit an RBI ground out to push the Yankees lead to 3-0.  In the fourth Travis d’Arnaud hit an RBI ground out to cut the Yankees lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Stanton hit a two-run homerun to extend the Yankees lead to 5-1.  In the sixth Jose Reyes hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-2.  In the bottom of the sixth Holder hit a two-run double and the Yankees lead was 7-2.  In the seventh Phillip Evans hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 7-3.  In the eighth Avelinto hit an RBI ground out and Floorial hit an RBI single to make it 9-3.  Robinson hit a sac fly and it was 10-3 Yankees which would be the final score. 

The Yankees record improved to 11-4 on the spring and they will travel to Jupiter on Sunday afternoon to take on the Miami Marlins who are led by manager Don Mattingly and owner Derek Jeter.  The last two Yankee captains.

New York Yankees lose second straight


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.  The game took place at Disney Wide World Of Sports in Orlando, Florida and the final score was 3-1.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and pitched well.  Gary Sanchez had two hits to lead the Yankees offense which didn’t do that much. 

Gray pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks with three strikeouts.  Tommy Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Chasen Shreve pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and David Hale pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with one of them being earned and he walked one and struck out two and took the loss.  Jonathan Holder pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk, Sanchez had two hits and an RBI and Gleyber Torres drew a walk.  Jace Peterson drew a walk, Billy McKinney drew a walk and Jake Cave drew a walk.  Sanchez hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  McKinney committed two errors. 

In the fifth Preston Tucker hit an RBI double to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Sanchez hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the seventh Carlos Franco hit a two-run double to give the Braves a 3-1 lead which would be the final score. 

New York Yankees give up lead and lose to the Philadelphia Phillies


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 7-6.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched well in his first grapefruit league game action.  Brandon Drury had two hits to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up three hits and an unearned run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, Justus Sheffield pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout and Wade LeBlanc pitched two innings giving up three hits and three runs with a couple of strikeouts and he took the loss.  Giovanny Gallegos pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks with a couple of strikeouts. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew two walks, Greg Bird drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and two RBI.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Austin Romine had a hit and Didi Gregorius had a hit and two RBI.  Drury had two hits, Eric Kratz had a hit and an RBI and Tyler Wade had a hit.  Drury hit a double, Gregorius hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Avelino had a stolen base and Wade was caught stealing.  Drury committed an error. 

In the fourth Ryan Flaherty hit an RBI single to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Gregorius hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead and Kratz hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1.  In the fith Stanton hit a two-run single to push the lead to 5-1 and Sanchez hit an RBI single making it a 6-1 game.  In the sixth Aaron Altherr hit an RBI double and Flaherty hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 6-3.  Mitch Walding hit a two-run double and the lead was cut to one at 6-5.  In the eighth Danny Ortiz hit an RBI double to tie the game at six and Pedro Florimon hit an RBI single to make it 7-6 Phillies and that would be the final score. 

New York Yankees come back to beat their cross town rivals


The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 11-4.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Brett Gardner, Abiatal Avelino, Austin Romine, Kyle Higashioka and Kyle Holder each had two hits. 

German pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two unearned runs.  He walked two and struck out five.  Ben Heller pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run, Dillon Tate pitched two innings giving up two hits and an unearned run and Brady Lail got the win pitching two perfect innings with a couple of strikeouts.  Cale Coshow pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Gardner had two hits and drew a walk, Tyler Wade had a hit and Billy McKinney had a hit, four RBI and drew two walks.  Jorge Saez had a hit, Tyler Austin had a hit and Avelino had two hits.  Romine had two hits, Higashioka had two hits and Ronald Torreyes had an RBI.  Holder had two hits and an RBI, Shane Robinson had a hit and Trey Amburgey had a hit, four RBI and drew a walk.  Estevan Florial had a hit, Jeff Hendrix had an RBI and Higashioka hit a double.  McKinney and Amburgey each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Torreyes had a stolen base and Florial and Tate each committed an error. 

In the third Bruce reached on a fielding error and two runs scored giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Torreyes hit an RBI ground out cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Travis d’Arnaud hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 3-1.  In the sixth Juan Lagares hit an RBI ground out to extend the Mets lead to 4-1.  In the eighth Amburgey drew an RBI walk to cut the lead to 4-2, Hendrix reached on a fielding error and the lead was 4-3 and McKinney hit a grand slam giving the Yankees a 7-4 lead.  In the ninth Holder hit an RBI single and Amburgey hit a three-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 11-4 and that would be the final score.
