The New York Yankees defeat the Toronto Blue Jays behind a strong pitching from Bryan Mitchell



The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, Florida and the final score was 4-3.  Mitchell pitched great for the Yankees and Ronald Torreyes led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Mitchell pitched four scoreless innings giving up a hit and he struck out four.  Anthony Swarzak pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Diego Moreno pitched an inning giving up two htis and a run with a strikeout and Branden Pinder pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Conor Mullee pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out the side. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit and an RBI, Lane Adams drew a walk and Carlos Beltran had a hit.  Alex Rodriguez had a hit and an RBI, Mark Teixeira had an RBI and Deibinson Romero drew a walk.  Torreyes had two hits, Pete Kozma had a hit and Cesar Puello had a hit.  Torreyes and Puello each hit a double and Hicks hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Torreyes had a stolen base and Refsnyder and Hicks each committed an error. 

In the first Hicks hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a quick 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Josh Thole hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  Ezequiel Carrera hit a sac fly to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Rodriguez hit an RBI single and the game was tied at two, Teixeira reached on a fielder's choice  and a run scored making it 3-2 Yankees.  In the bottom of the seventh Jio Mier hit an RBI double to tie the game at three.  In the ninth a run scored on a missed catch error by the Blue Jays and the Yankees had a 4-3 lead which would hold up. 

The Yankees improved their spring record to 10-12 with a couple of tie games also.  The Yankees will play at home in Tampa against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon.   

The New York Mets and Atlanta Braves battle to a 3-3 tie



The New York Mets and Atlanta Braves played to a 3-3 tie on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Champion Stadium in Orlando, Florida.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched well.  Matt Reynolds led the offense with a couple of hits. 

deGrom pi9tched 6 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Addison Reed pitched to one batter and retired him, Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Zach Thornton pitched a perfect inning.  Erik Goeddel pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI, Kyle Johnson drew a walk and Wilmer Flores had a hit.  Dominic Smith had a hit, Marc Krauss had a hit and drew a walk and Travis Taijeron drew two walks.  Reynolds had two hits and drew a walk, Gavin Cecchini drew a walk and deGrom had an RBI.  Johnny Monell had an RBI, Reynolds hit a double and the Mets were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Taijeron and Robles each committed an error. 

In the fourth Adonis Garcia grounded into a double play and a run scored to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth deGrom hit an RBI groundout to tie the game at one.  Lagares hit an RBI single and it was 2-1 Mets in the fifth.  In the sixth Ender Inciarte hit a sac fly to tie the game at two and in the bottom of the eighth Jace Peterson hit a sac fly to make it 3-2 Braves.  In the ninth Monell hit an RBI groundout to tie the game at three and that would be the final score. 

The Mets now have four tie games this spring and their record is 7-13.  They will play at home in Port St. Lucie against a split squad Washington Nationals team on Sunday afternoon. 

The New York Mets tie the St. Louis Cardinals in grapefruit league action



The New York Mets played to a tie on Friday afternoon against the St. Louis Cardinals.  The game took place at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 5-5.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched well.  Neil Walker, Wilmer Flores and Matt Reynolds each had two hits and Reynolds had three RBI. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up five hits nad two runs with no walks and nine strikeouts.  Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and struck him out, Jim Henderson pitched to two batters retiring them both and Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Jeurys Familia pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and Zach Thornton pitched 2/3 of an inning retiring both batters that he faced. 

Alejandro De Aza had a hit, David Wright drew a walk and Eric Campbell had a hit.  Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew a walk, Kevin Kaczmarski had a hit and an RBI and Walker had two hits.  Flores had two hits, Kevin Plawecki had a hit and drew a walk and Juan Lagares had a hit.  Reynolds had two hits and three RBI, Travis d'Arnaud had an RBI and Plawecki and Flores each hit a double.  The Mets were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Campbell had a stolen base and Granderson was caught stealing.  Granderson had an outfield assist. 

In the second Reynolds hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Matt Adams hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the fourth Reynolds hit an RBI single giving the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the fifth Matt Carpenter hit an RBI double to tie the game at two.  In the sixth Reynolds hit a sac fly to make it 3-2 Mets.  d'Arnaud hit a sac fly to make it 4-2 Mets in the sixth.  In the ninth Randal Grichuk hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-3 and Jedd Gyorko hit an RBI double to tie the game at four.  Greg Garcia drew an RBI walk to give the Cardinals a 5-4 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth Kevin Kaczmarski hit an RBI single to tie the game at five and that is how it would end.  The Mets spring record is 7-13 and they have three tie games.  They will play the Atlanta Braves at Champion Stadium in Orlando, Florida on Saturday afternoon. 

New York Mets lose both games of a split squad



The New York Mets were defeated by the Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros on Thursday afternoon.  The Mets played the Red Sox at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida and the final score was 4-1 and they played the Houston Astros at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie and lost 8-5.  Matt Harvey started in the game against the Astros and didn't pitch well at all and Logan Verrett started the game against the Red Sox and pitched very well.  The Mets offense only managed five hits in the game against Boston and Curtis Granderson and Alejandra De Aza each had two hits in the game against the Astros. 

Harvey pitched three innings giving up seven hits and six runs with four walks and two strikeouts.  Beck Wheeler pitched an inning giving up a run and three walks with a strikeout, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and Antonio Bastardo pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk.  Jim Henderson pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Jerry Blevins pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Granderson had two hits, Ty Kelly drew two walks and David Wright drew a walk.  Jeff McNeil had two hits and an RBI, John Mora had two hits and an RBI and Dominic Smith had a hit and an RBI.  Phillip Evans had a hit and two RBI, De Aza had two hits and Derrik Gibson had a hit.  McNeil and Evans each hit a double and Granderson hit a triple and the Mets were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Gomez had a passed ball. 

In the second A.J. Reed hit an inside-the-park homerun to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.  George Springer had an RBI walk to make it 2-0, Marwin Gonzalez hit a sac fly and it was 3-0 Astros still in the second inning.  In the third Reed hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 4-0 and Derek Fisher hit a two run triple to make it 6-0.  In the fourth a wild pitch pushed the lead to 7-0 and in the seventh Roberto Pena hit a sac fly to make it 8-0 Astros.  In the bottom of the eighth McNeill hit an RBI double to get the Mets on the board and Mora hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-2.  Smith hit an RBI single and Evans hit a two run double to cut the lead to 8-5 but that was as close as it got.  The final score would be 8-5 Astros. 

In the game against the Red Sox Verrett started and pitched four innings giving up two hits and no runs with no walks and a strikeout.  Sean Gilmartin pitched three innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts and Erik Goeddel pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs. 

Eric Campbell had a hit and drew a walk, Kevin Plawecki had a hit and Travis Taijeron had a hit.  Matt Reynolds had a hit and an RBI and Patrick Biondi had a hit.  Taijeron hit a double and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Campbell had a stolen base. 

In the fifth Reynolds hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Xander Bogaerts hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  David Ortiz hit an RBI single to give the Red Sox a 2-1 lead.  In the eighth Bogaerts hit a solo homerun to push the Red Sox lead to 3-1 and they finished the scoring on an RBI single by Deven Marrero in the eighth.  The Red Sox won the game 4-1.

New York Yankees lose a wild one to the Baltimore Orioles



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Friday afternoon.  The game took place at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida and the final score was 11-10.  Ivan Nova started and didn't pitch well.  Brett Gardner led the offense with a couple of hits and an RBI. 

Nova pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and six runs with five of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out five.  Johnny Barbato pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout, Nick Goody pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and James Pazos pitched an inning with a couple of strikeouts.  Nick Rumbelow pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and Matt Tracy gave up two hits and three runs with one of them being earned and a walk without recording an out. 

Gardner had two hits and an RBI, Ben Gamel had a hit and an RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Starlin Castro had an RBI, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and an RBI and Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI.  Rob Refsnyder had a hit, Dustin Ackley had a hit and drew a walk and Deibinson Romero drew a walk.  Chris Parmelee drew a walk, Kyle Higashioka had a hit and drew a walk and Chris Denorfia had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Jake Skole had two hits and an RBI, Cesar Puello had two hits and Dustin Fowler had a hit.  Gregorius, Puello and Higashioka each hit a double, Gardner hit a triple and Denorfia hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 6-17 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Castro comitted an error and Refsnyder comitted two errors. 

In the second Denorfia hit a three run homerun to give the Yankees the 3-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Mark Trumbo hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the third Castro hit a sac fly to extend the Yankees lead to 4-1.  Headley hit an RBI single to make it 5-1 still in the third.  In the bottom of the third Caleb Joseph hit a two run homerun to cut the lead to 5-3 and in the bottom of the fourth J.J. Hardy hit a two run homerun to tie the game at five.  In the bottom of the fifth Chris Davis hit an RBI single making it 6-5 Orioles.  In the seventh Gardner hit an RBI triple to tie the game at six and Torreyes hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 7-6 lead.  Machado hit a two run homerun in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at seven.  In the eighth Gamel hit an RBI groundout to make it 8-7 Yankees and in the ninth Nolan Reimold tied the game on a solo homerun.  In the tenth Skole hit an RBI single and Kozma grounded into a double play and a run scored giving the Yankees a 10-8 lead.  In the bottom of the tenth Reimold hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 10-9, Garabez Rosa hit a two run single to give the Orioles a 11-10 walk-off win. 

The Yankees record fell to 9-12 with a couple of tie games on the spring.  They will play the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon in Dunedin, Florida. 

New York Yankees lose but CC Sabathia pitches a productive game



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 6-2.  CC Sabathia started and pitched well for the first time this spring.  Brian McCann led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Sabathia pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Tyler Olson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and four runs with a walk, Kirby Yates pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings with a couple of strikeouts and Chasen Shreve pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts.  Branden Pinder pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Starlin Castro had a hit, Alex Rodriguez had a hit and drew a walk and McCann had two hits.  Ronald Torreyes had a hit, Carlos Beltran had a hit and an RBI and Pete Kozma had a hit.  Cesar Puello had a hit, McCann hit a double and Torreyes hit a double.  Kozma hit a triple and the Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Evan Longoria hit a solo homerun giving the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the second Kevin Kiermaier hit an RBI single to make it 2-0.  Beltran hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second to trim the lead to 2-1 Rays.  In the sixth Steve Pearce hit an RBI single extending the Rays lead to 3-1.  Rene Rivera grounded into a force out and a run scored making it a 4-1 game.  Logan Morrison hit a two run ssingle and it was 6-1 Rays still in the sixth inning.  In the seventh a wild pitch made it 6-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees spring record fell to 9-11 and they will play the Baltimore Orioles in Sarasota on Friday afternoon.

Masahiro Tanaka struggles as the New York Yankees are hammered by the Washington Nationals



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Florida and the final score was 13-0.  Masahiro Tanaka started and didn't pitch well.  Brett Gardner led the Yankees offense with a couple of hits. 

Tanaka pitched four innings giving up nine hits and seven runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Nick Goody pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Luis Cessa pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Johnny Barbato pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Anthony Swarzak pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and six runs with none of them being earned.  He also walked a batter and Nick Rumbelow pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

Gardner had two hits, Dustin Ackley had a hit and Austin Romine had a hit.  Rob Refsnyder had a hit, Pete Kozma had a hit and Chris Denorfia had a hit.  Carlos Corporan had a hit, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and Donovan Solano had a hit.  Romine hit a double and the Yankees were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Tyler Wade and Solano each committed an error and Cesar Puello committed two errors.  Gardner had an outfield assist. 

In the first Anthony Rendon hit an RBI double to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the third Stephen Drew hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0, Ryan Zimmerman hit an RBI groundout to make it 3-0 and Jayson Werth hit an RBI single making it 4-0.  Chris Heisey hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 5-0, Wilson Ramos hit a two run homerun and it was 7-0 all in the third inning.  In the eighth Jhonatan Solano reached on an error and a run scored to make it 8-0 Nationals.  Osvaldo Abreu hit an RBI single and Scott Sizemore hit a three run single to make it 12-0 Nationals.  Matt den Dekker hit an RBI single still in the eighth and it was 13-0 which would be the final score. 

The Yankees spring record fell to 9-10 with a couple of tie games.  The Nationals record improved to 14-4.  The Yankees will play the Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa on Thursday night.   

The New York Mets hitting continues there woes in loss to the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Mets were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, Florida and the final score was 3-1 Toronto.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched very well.  The Mets offense only managed five hits. 

Colon pitched six innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one, Stolmy Pimentel pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Buddy Carlyle pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs. 

Juan Lagares had a hit, Patrick Biondi had a hit and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit.  Marc Krauss had a hit, T.J. Rivera had a hit and Krauss hit a triple.  Biondi hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Lagares and Dilson Herrera were each caught stealing.  Herrera committed an error. 

In the ninth Biondi hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead and in the bottom of the ninth Ezequiel Carrera hit a three run homerun to give the Blue Jays a 3-1 victory.  The Mets record fell to 7-11 on the spring and the Blue Jays improved to 14-4, the Mets have a couple of tie games as well.  The Mets will play a split squad on Thursday afternoon.  The one game will be played in Fort Myers against the Boston Red Sox and the other will be played in Port St. Lucie against the Houston Astros.

The New York Yankees defeat the New York Mets



The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets on Tuesday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 6-3.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and pitched pretty well and Alex Rodriguez led their offense with two hits and two RBI.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and didn't pitch very well, Yoenis Cespedes led their offense with three hits. 

Severino pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two and Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Tyler Olson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Diego Moreno pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Steven Matz pitched four innings giving up seven hits and five runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three, Duane Below pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Zach Thornton pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and Paul Sewald pitched a perfect inning. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk and Dustin Fowler had a hit and an RBI.  Rodriguez had two hits and two RBI, Mark Teixeira drew a walk and Carlos Beltran had an RBI.  Brian McCann had two hits, Chase Headley had a hit and Starlin Castro had a hit.  Didi Gregorius had two hits and an RBI, Castro, McCann and Gregorius each hit a double.  The Yankees were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Hicks had a stolen base and Fowler also had a stolen base.  Headley committed an error and Gardner had an outfield assist. 

Curtis Granderson had two hits, Ty Kelly had an RBI and drew a walk and Neil Walker had an RBI.  Cespedes had three hits and an RBI, Travis Taijeron had a hit and Lucas Duda had a hit.  Travis d'Arnaud drew a walk, Alejandro De Aza had two hits and Eric Campbell had a hit.  Johnny Monell had two hits and Matt Reynolds drew a walk.  Granderson hit two doubles and Cespedes hit a double.  The Mets were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Cespedes had a stolen base. 

In the second inning Gregorius hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead, Gardner hit an RBI single and it was 2-0 Yankees.  Rodriguez hit a two run single and the lead was pushed to 4-0.  Beltran hit a sac fly and the lead was 5-0 for the Yankees all in the second inning.  In the fifth Walker hit an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 5-1 and Cespedes hit an RBI double to make it a 5-2 game.  In the sixth Fowler hit an RBI groundout to push the lead to 6-2.  The Mets scored on an RBI walk by Kelly in the eighth to make it 6-3 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees improved their spring record to 9-9 with a couple of ties and the Mets record fell to 7-10 with a couple of ties.  The Yankees will head to Viera, Florida to take on the Washington Nationals on Wednesday evening and the Mets will head to Dunedin, Florida to take on the Toronto Blue Jays.

New York Mets lose a close one 2-1 to the Miami Marlins



The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 2-1.  Jacob deGrom started and pitched very well for the Mets.  The Mets offense only managed five hits. 

deGrom started and pitched four innings giving up four hits and no runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Sean Gilmartin pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Antonio Bastardo pitched to one batter and retired him.  Jim Henderson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up two hits and struck out one. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Juan Lagares had a hit and Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk.  Danny Muno had an RBI, Wilmer Flores drew a walk and Alejandro De Aza drew two walks.  Eric Campbell had a hit, Roger Bernadina drew three walks and Ty Kelly had a hit.  Conforto hit a double and the Mets were 0-11 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base.  Kelly had a stolen base and De Aza was caught stealing.  Kevin Plawecki committed an error. 

In the eighth Robert Andino stole third and scored on a throwing error to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  Tomas Telis grounded into a double play and a run scored to make it 2-0.  In the ninth Muno hit an RBI groundout to cut the lead in half to 2-1 but that would be how the game ended. 

The Mets will take on the New York Yankees on Tuesday night in Tampa, Florida.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 9-4.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched pretty well.  The Mets had six hits and no one had more than a hit. 

Syndergaard pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out five.  Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk, Buddy Carlyle pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Antonio Bastardo pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with one of them being earned and he walked two with a strikeout.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Alejandro De Aza drew a walk, David Wright had a hit and an RBI and T.J. In the fourth Travis Shaw hit an RBI single to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Reynolds had an RBI walk, Lagares stole home and Wright had an RBI single to give the Mets a 3-1 lead.  In the fifth Brock Holt hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 3-2 and in the sixth Chris Young hit a three run homerun to give the Red Sox a 5-3 lead.  In the eighth Sandy Leon hit a two run single to push the lead to 7-3 Red Sox.  Rivera hit an RBI groundout in the eight to cut the lead to 7-4.  In the ninth Aneury Tavarez hit an RBI double to make it a 9-4 game and that is how the game would end. 

The Mets record fell to 7-8 with a couple of ties and they will take on the Miami Marlins in Port St. Lucie on Monday afternoon.   

The New York Yankees win as Ivan Nova has his first shaky start



The New  York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Century Link Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Florida and the final score was 6-4.  Ivan Nova started and didn't pitch very well.  Ronald Torreyes led the Yankees offense with a couple of hits. 

Nova pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Bryan Mitchell pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up no hits and no runs with two strikeouts, Anthony Swarzak pitched an inning giving up a hit and Johnny Barbato pitched an inning with a strikeout.   

Brett Gardner had an RBI and drew a walk, Dustin Fowler had a hit and Aaron Hicks had an RBI and drew a walk.  Cesar Puello had a hit and an RBI, Brian McCann had an RBI and Chase Headley had a hit.  Deibinson Romero drew a walk, Eddy Rodriguez had a hit and an RBI and Pete Kozma drew a walk.  Torreyes had two hits, Headley and Rodriguez each hit a double and Puello hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gamel had a stolen base and Hicks had an outfield assist. 

In the second Eduardo Escobar had an RBI groundout to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  John Ryan Murphy hit an RBI groundout to make it 2-0.  In the third Gardner drew an RBI walk and Hicks hit a sac fly to tie the game at two.  McCann hit an RBI groundout and the Yankees had a 3-2 lead all in the third inning.  In the fifth the Yankees scored on a balk to push the lead to 4-2.  The Twins tied the game in the bottom of the fourth on a Mauer two run single.  Puello hit a solo homerun in the eighth and Rodriguez hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 6-4 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will have off on Monday and then take on the New York Mets on Tuesday night in Tampa.  They are now 8-9 on the spring with a couple of ties.
