The New York Mets lose in Colorado



The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 5-2.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and didn't pitch very well and the bullpen was good.  Kevin Plawecki had two hits to lead the offense. 

Harvey pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up 11 hits and five runs with six strikeouts.  He lost his fifth game of the season.  Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Hansel Robles pitched two perfect innings. 

Jon Gray pitched seven innings giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Gray earned his first victory of the season.  Carlos Estevez pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two and Jake McGee pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and earned his 10th save of the season. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Michael Conforto had a hit and Lucas Duda had a hit.  Neil Walker had a hit and drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and Plawecki had a hit and two RBI.  Plawecki hit a double and Granderson hit a double.  Conforto hit a triple and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.   

Charlie Blackmon had three hits and an RBI, Trevor Story had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Nolan Arenado had a hit, Gerardo Parra had a hit and an RBI and Mark Reynolds had a hit and an RBI.  D.J. LeMahieu had two hits, Tony Wolters had a hit and an RBI and Gray had a hit.  Story hit two doubles, LeMahieu and Blackmon each hit a double.  LeMahieu and Parra each hit a double and LeMahieu and Parra each hit a triple.  The Rockies were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the second Plawecki hit a two run double to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Parra hit an RBI triple to cut the lead to 2-1.  Reynolds hit an RBI single to tie the game at two in the fourth.  In the fifth Story hit an RBI double to give the Rockies a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Wolters hit an RBI single and Blackmon hit an RBI double and it was 5-2 Mets and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon. 

New York Yankees bounce back with a close 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox



The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and pitched well, the bullpen was great as they unleashed the three headed monster in the back end of the bullpen.  Didi Gregorius had three hits to lead the offense. 

Nova pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four  hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.   Nova won his second game of the season.  Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings striking out all four batters that he faced, Andrew Miller gave up a hit in his one inning and struck out two and Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning striking out two and picking up his second save of the season. 

Jose Quintana pitched seven innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  He lost only his second game of the season.  Zach Duke pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Carlos Beltran drew a walk, Chase Headley drew a walk and Aaron Hicks had a hit and an RBI.  Gregorius had three hits and an RBI, Austin Romine had a hit and Hicks, Romine and Gregorius each hit a double.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Adam Eaton had a hit, Jose Abreu had a hit and Todd Frazier had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Melky Cabrera had a hit, Brett Lawrie had a hit and Abreu and Lawrie hit a double.  Frazier hit a homerun and the White Sox were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the second Hicks hit an RBI double and Gregorius hit an RBI single to give them a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Frazier hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees are now 6-3 on their current homestand and the last game of the series and homestand will be on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees have a chance for a great homestand with a win and a good one with the loss.  They will then head out west to Arizona to begin a three game series on Monday night. 

New York Yankees lose the game and Luis Severino in loss to the Chicago White Sox



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Chicago White Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New  York and the final score was 7-1.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch well and left the game with an injury.  The Yankees offense couldn't do much against Chicago ace Chris Sale.  Mark Teixeira had two hits and Chase Headley hit a homerun. 

Severino pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and seven runs with four walks and two strikeouts.  He lost his sixth game of the season, Nick Goody pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Chasen Shreve pitched two innings walking two and striking out one and Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Sale won his eighth game of the season pitching a complete game.  He gave up six hits and a run with no walks and six strikeouts. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit, Starlin Castro had a hit and Teixeira had two hits.  Headley had a hit and an RBI, Brett Gardner had a hit and Teixeira hit a double and Headley a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Adam Eaton had three hits and two RBI, Jimmy Rollins had a hit and two RBI and Jose Abreu had a hit and two RBI.  Todd Frazier drew two walks, Melky Cabrera drew a walk and Brett Lawrie had a hit.  Avisail Garcia had a hit and drew a walk, Alex Avila had two hits and an RBI and Austin Jackson drew three walks. 

In the  second Avila hit an RBI double to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.  Abreu hit a two run single and it was 3-0 White Sox.  In the bottom of the second Headley hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  The Yankees would not get any closer in the game.  In the third Eaton hit a two run double to make it a 5-1 game.  Rollins hit a two run homerun and it was 7-1 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.  The Yankees record on the current homestand is now 5-3. 

The New York Mets are shutout by Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers



The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night.  The game took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 5-0.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and he didn't pitch that well, Sean Gilmartin pitched well out of the bullpen.  Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and the rest of the team only managed one hit. 

Colon pitched five innings giving up seven hits and five runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Gilmartin pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Colon took his second loss of the season. 

Clayton Kershaw started for the Dodgers and pitched a complete game shutout.  He gave up three hits and one walk with 13 strikeouts.  Kershaw earned his fifth win of the season. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Cabrera had two hits and David Wright drew a walk.  Granderson hit a double and the Mets were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Chase Utley had three hits and an RBI, Cory Seager had a hit and Justin Turner had two hits and an RBI.  Adrian Gonzalez had a hit, Yasmani Grandal had a hit and three RBI and Grandal and Utley each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 2-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the first Turner hit an RBI single and Grandal hit a three run homerun giving the Dodgers a 4-0 lead.  In the second Utley hit a solo homerun making it 5-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams split the four game series and the Mets will head to Colorado to start a three game series on Friday night.

The New York Mets squeak past the Los Angeles Dodgers



The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 4-3.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched well and he hit two homeruns as well. 

Syndergaard pitched eight innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  he won his third game of the season and Jeurys Familia saved his 12th game of the season pitching an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Kenta Maeda pitched five innings giving up six hits and four runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  He lost his second game of the season.  Chris Hatcher pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two, Adam Liberatore pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout and Louis Coleman pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Joe Blanton pitched two perfect inning with four strikeouts. 

Michael Conforto had two hits, Yoenis Cespedes had two hits and Lucas Duda had a hit and drew a walk.  Neil Walker had a hit and drew a walk and Rene Rivera drew two walks.  Syndergaard had two hits and four RBI, Walker and Cespedes each had a double and Syndergaard hit two homeruns.  The Mets were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Cespedes and Campbell each had a stolen base.  Syndergaard committed an error. 

Cory Seager had two hits and an RBI, Adrian Gonzalez had two hits and Yasmani Grandal had a hit and an RBI.  Joc Pederson had an RBI an drew a walk, Yasiel Puig had a hit and Carl Crawford had  a hit.  Gonzalez hit a double and Seager and Grandal each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the third Syndergaard hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Seager hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Grandal hit a solo homerun giving the Dodgers a 2-1 lead.  In the fifth Syndergaard hit a three run homerun to give the Mets a 4-2 lead.  In the ninth Pederson hit an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 4-3 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Thursday night.  The Mets will then head to Colorado to finish their homestand before returning home.   

New York Yankees win game and series against the Kansas City Royals



The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-3.  Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and pitched ok and the bullpen was great.  Starlin Castro and Chase Headley each had two hits and two RBI. 

Eovaldi pitched five innings giving up eight hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  He won his third game of the season.  Kirby Yates pitched a perfect inning, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Andrew Miller pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Ian Kennedy started for the Royals and lost his third game of the season.  He pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and seven runs with three walks and six strikeouts.   Chien-Ming Wang pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout and Scott Alexander pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Castro had two hits and two RBI and Brian McCann had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Carlos Beltran drew two walks, Didi Gregorius had a hit and two RBI and Headley had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Austin Romine  had a hit, Castro, Headley and Gregorius each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Lorenzo Cain had a hit and drew a walk, Eric Hosmer had two hits and Kendrys Morales drew a walk.  Alex Gordon had two hits and two RBI, Cheslor Cuthbert had a hit and Christian Colon had two hits and an RBI.  Paulo Orlando had a hit, Cuthbert hit a double and Hosmer hit a double.  Gordon hit a homerun and the Royals were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Castro hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Headley hit a two run homerun to make it 3-0 Yankees.  In the fourth Gordon hit a solo homerun and it was 3-1 Yankees.  Colon hit an RBI single in the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2.  Gregorius hit a two run homerun in the fourth to make it 5-2.  In the fifth Gordon hit an RBI single to make it 5-3 Yankees.  In the seventh Castro hit an RBI single and McCann had an RBI walk to make it 7-3 Yankees.  That would be the final score of the game. 

The Yankees took three of four in the series.  The Yankees will continue their homestand on Friday night with the Chicago White Sox.

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-3.  Michael Pineda started and was terrible in the first but then settled down and struggled in the end also.  Carlos Beltran had two hits and Aaron Hicks had three hits. 

Pineda pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and six runs with four walks and seven strikeouts.  He lost his fourth game of the season.  Nick Goody gave up a hit and didn't record an out and Phil Coke pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks. 

Yordano Ventura pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with three walks and a strikeout.  Ventura won his third game of the season.  Danny Duffy pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Kelvin Herrera pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Wade Davis pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.

Alcides Escobar had a hit, Lorenzo Cain had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Eric Hosmer had two hits.  Kendrys Morales had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Alex Gordon had an RBI and drew a walk and Salvador Perez had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Cheslor Cuthbert had a hit, Christian Colon had a hit and drew a walk and Jarrod Dyson had a hit.  Perez and Morales each hit a homerun and the Royals were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Escobar was caught stealing. 

In the first Gordon hit a sac fly, Perez hit a three run homerun and it was 4-0 Royals.  IN the second Beltran hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the second Headley  hit an RBI single to make it a 4-2 game.  McCann hit an RBI groundout in the fifth and it was 4-3 Royals.  In the sixth Cain hit a two run single and in the seventh Morales  hit a solo homerun and it was 7-3 Royals which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Thursday night.  The Yankees will then close out their ten game homestand with a three game set against the Chicago White Sox.

New York Mets lose on a walk-off to the Los Angeles Dodgers



The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 3-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched ok and Juan Lagares led the offense with a couple of hits. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up eight hits and two runs with no walks and four strikeouts.  Antonio Bastardo pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one and Hansel Robles pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and he lost his second game of the season. 

Alex Wood started for the Dodgers and pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out nine.  Louis Coleman pitched to two batters and struck them both out, Pedro Baez pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his first victory of the season. 

Lagares had two hits, David Wright drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a walk.  Wilmer Flores had a hit, Kevin Plawecki had a hit and an RBI and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Wright was caught stealing and Lagares was picked off.  Cespedes had an outfield assist. 

Chase Utley had a hit, Cory Seager had two hits and an RBI and Justin Turner drew a walk.  Adrian Gonzalez had two hits and an RBI, Yasmani Grandal had a hit and Joc Pederson had a hit.  Yasiel Puig had a hit, Wood had a hit and Trayce Thompson had a hit and an RBI.  Utley, Pederson and Grandal each hit a double and Seager hit two doubles.  Thompson hit a homerun which was the game winning walk-off homerun and it was a pinch hit also.  The Dodgers were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Utley committed an error and Wood had a pickoff.   

In the first Seager hit an RBI double to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.  Gonzalez hit a sac fly making it 2-0 Dodgers.  In the second Conforto reached on a force attempt error and a run scored to cut the lead to 2-1.  Plawecki hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the ninth Thompson hit a solo homerun to win the game for the Dodgers 3-2. 

The two teams have split the first two of a four game series.  They will play game three on Wednesday night. 

The New York Yankees take their second straight against the Kansas City Royals



The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-7.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch very well.  Brian McCann had three hits and Didi Gregorius had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and six runs with no walks and four strikeouts.  Andrew Miller blew a save but won his second game of the season.  He pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman saved his first game of the season pitching an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one. 

Kris Medlen pitched two innings giving up six hits and four runs with three walks and no strikeouts.  Brian Flynn pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts, Danny Duffy pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Luke Hochevar pitched an inning and he struck out the side.  Joakiim Soria pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs and Kelvin Herrera pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two of them earned and he lost his first game of the season.

Alcides Escobar had a hit and drew on a walk, Lorenzo Cain had three hits and five RBI and Alex Gordon had a hit.  Salvador Perez had a hit, Cheslor Cuthbert had two hits and two RBI and Jarrod Dyson had a hit.  Gordon hit a double, Cuthbert hit a homerun and Cain hit three homeruns.  The Royals were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Escobar committed an error and Duffy had a pickoff. 

In the first Ackley hit a sac fly to make it 1-0 Yankees.  In the second Cuthbert hit a two run homerun giving the Royals a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the second Headley hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the third Cain hit a solo homerun to give the Royals a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the third Gregorius hit a three run double to make it 5-3 Yankees.  In the fifth Cain hit a three run homerun to give the Royals a 6-5 lead.  In the seventh Ackley hit an RBI single to tie the game at six.  Hicks hit an RBI double giving the Yankees a 7-6 lead.  In the eighth Cain hit a solo homerun to tie the game at seven.  In the eighth Gardner hit an RBI double to give the Yankees back the lead at 8-7 and McCann hit a two run double making it 10-7 Yankees.  The final score was 10-7 and the Yankees have won the first two games of the series.  

The two teams will play game three of four on Wednesday night.  If the Yankees can get the win they will take the series and if not the rubber game will be on Thursday night. 

New York Mets double up the Los Angeles Dodgers



The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.  The game took place at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 4-2.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and pitched well and the bullpen was good.  Curtis Granderson led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Matz won his fifth game of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Antonio Bastardo walked a batter in 1/3 of an inning and Jim Henderson pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one.  Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and he saved his 11th game of the season. 

Scott Kazmir started for the Dodgers and lost his third game of the season.  He pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out six, Adam Liberatore pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Joe Blanton pitched an inning walking one and striking out one and Louis Coleman pitched to two batters and struck them both out.  J.P. Howell pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Chris Hatcher pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Granderson had two hits and an RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and David Wright drew a walk.  Yoenis Cespedes had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Lucas Duda drew two walks, Wilmer Flores had a hit and drew a walk and Kevin Plawecki had a hit and an RBI.  Matz had a hit and an RBI, Alejandro De Aza had a hit and Matz and Cabrera each hit a double.  Granderson and Plawecki each hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Flores had a stolen base and De Aza was caught stealing.  Flores and Lagares each committed an error. 

Howie Kendrick had a hit, Adrian Gonzalez drew a walk and Justin Turner had a hit and drew a walk.  Trayce Thompson had a hit and two RBI, A.J. Ellis had a hit and Charlie Culberson had two hits.  Thompson hit a homerun and the Dodgers were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Kendrick and Culberson each had a stolen base and Kendrick committed an error.  Hernandez committed two errors and Howell had a pickoff. 

In the first Granderson hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Plawecki hit a solo  homerun to make it 2-0 Mets.  Cespedes hit an RBI single in the third to stretch the lead to 3-0 Mets.  In the fourth Thompson hit a two run homerun cutting the lead to 3-2.  In the sixth Matz hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 4-2 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night.

The New York Yankees double up the Kansas City Royals



The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-3.  Ivan Nova made his first start of the year for the Yankees and pitched well.  The Yankees bullpen was pretty good and Aroldis Chapman made his season and Yankees debut.  The Yankees offense hit five homeruns. 

Nova pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Phil Coke walked a batter in 2/3 of an inning, Kirby Yates won his second game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.  Chapman pitched an inning giving up two hits adn a run and he struck out two. 

Chris Young started for the Royals and he pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with no walks and two strikeouts.  Young lost his fifth game of the season and Dillon Gee pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Hicks had a hit and two RBI and Brian McCann had a hit and an RBI.  Carlos Beltran had two hits and two RBI, Dustin Ackley had a hit and Ben Gamel had a hit.  Chase Headley had a hit, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and McCann, Gardner and Hicks each hit a homerun and Beltran hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Nova committed an error.

In the first McCann hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Gordon hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the second Beltran hit a solo homerun and in the third Gardner hit a solo homerun and made it 3-1 Yankees.  Hicks hit a solo homerun and Beltran hit a solo homerun still in the third to make it 5-1 Yankees.  In the seventh Hicks hit a sac fly and the Yankees lead increased to 6-1.  Hosmer hti a solo homerun in the eighth and in the ninth Escobar hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-3 which would be the final score.  The Yankees have now won three out of their last four games. 

The Yankees and Royals will play game two of four on Tuesday night.  The Yankees will try to keep their winning going as they have won three of their last four and four out of their last six games.   

New York Yankees drop series finale against the Boston Red Sox



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-1.  The Yankees only offense was a Brett Gardner homerun in the ninth.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and although he was better he still gave up three homeruns. 

Severino pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs.  He walked one and struck out nine and fell to 0-5 on the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run and he struck out one and Johnny Barbato pitched a perfect inning. 

Steven Wright pitched a complete game for the Red Sox.  He gave up three hits and a run with a walk and seven strikeouts and he won his third game of the season. 

Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Starlin Castro had a hit and Brian McCann had a hit.  Dustin Ackley drew a walk, Castro hit a double and Gardner hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base.  Barbato committed an error and Gardner had an outfield assist. 

Mookie Betts drew a walk, Dustin Pedroia had a hit and two RBI and Xander Bogaerts had a hit and an RBI.  David Ortiz had two hits and two RBI, Brock Holt had a hit and Jackie Bradley Jr. had two hits.  Bradley hit a double, Pedroia and Bogaerts each hit a homerun and Ortiz hit two homeruns.  The Red Sox were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Ramirez had a stolen base. 

In the first Pedroia hit a two run homerun to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Ortiz hit a solo homerun making it 3-0 and another solo homerun in the seventh to push the lead to 4-0.  In the eighth Bogaerts hit a solo homerun and it was 5-0 Red Sox.  Gardner hit a solo homerun in the ninth to spoil the shutout and make it 5-1 which would be the final score of the game. 

The Yankees took two out of three in the series and will remain at home to begin a four game set with the Kansas City Royals on Monday night.
