Yankees series in Tampa Bay gets even as they lose


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 7-2.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he was ok, the bullpen wasn’t great.  The Yankees offense didn’t produce much. 

Sabathia pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs with four walks and two strikeouts.  Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his first game of the year and Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched two innings giving up four hits and three runs with three strikeouts.   

Ryne Stanek served as the Rays opener in this game and he pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Yonny Chirinos pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Chirinos won his fifth game of the season.  Diego Castillo pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout and Jose Alvarado pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Torres had two hits and Clint Frazier had a hit and an RBI.  Gio Urshela had a hit, Mike Tauchman drew a walk and Frazier and Torres each hit a double.  LeMahieu hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Sanchez committed an error. 

Yandy Diaz had two hits and four RBI, Tommy Pham drew a walk and Daniel Robertson had a hit and drew a walk.  Avisail Garcia had two hits and an RBI, Travis d’Arnaud drew a walk and Austin Meadows had a hit.  Guillermo Heredia had a hit and drew a walk, Willy Adames had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Ji-Man Choi had two hits and an RBI.  Heredia hti a double and Diaz and Garcia each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Garcia had a stolen base. 

In the second Garcia hit a solo homerun to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the third Diaz hit a solo homerun giving the Rays a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Frazier hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the sixth LeMahieu hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the bottom of the sixth Adames hit an RBI single to give the Rays a 3-2 lead and Choi hit an RBI single to push the lead to 4-2.  In the eighth Diaz hit a three-run homerun and it was 7-2 Rays which would be the final score.

New York Mets beat up on the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 11-2.  Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well and J.D. Davis and Michael Conforto each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched seven innings giving up nine hits and two runs with a walk and 11 strikeouts.  Wheeler picked up his third win of the season.  Tyler Bashlor pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Daniel Zamora pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one. 

Pablo Lopez pitched three innings giving up ten hits and ten runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Lopez lost his fifth game of the season.  Austin Brice pitched two innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and four strikeouts and Jose Quijada pitched three innings giving up a hit and four walks with a strikeout. 

Jeff McNeil had two hits and an RBI and drew a walk, Davis had three hits and Robinson Cano had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Pete Alonso drew two walks, Conforto had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Wilson Ramos had two hits and an RBI.  Brandon Nimmo had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks.  Amed Rosario had a hit, four RBI and drew a walk, Wheeler had a hit and Conforto, Rosario and McNeil each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 5-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Alonso committed an error. 

Curtis Granderson had two hits, Martin Prado had a hit and Starlin Castro had a hit and drew a walk.  Neil Walker had two hits and an RBI, Brian Anderson had a hit and an RBI and Miguel Rojas had a hit and drew a walk.  Rosell Herrera had a hit and drew a walk, Isaac Galloway had a hit and the Marlins were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Anderson had an outfield assist. 

In the first a wild pitch, Ramos hit an RBI single, Nimmo drew an RBI walk and Rosario hit a grand slam to give the Mets a 7-0 lead.  Cano hit an RBI single and the lead pushed to 8-0.  In the second Conforto hit a solo homerun and it was 9-0.  In the third Walker hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 9-1 and Anderson hit a sac fly to make it a 9-2 game.  In the bottom of the third McNeil hit a solo homerun and in the fourth Nimmo hit an RBI single to make the score 11-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 4-3.  Domingo German pitched well and the bullpen was great for the Yankees.  Gio Urshela had a huge two-run single and Gary Sanchez had a couple of hits to lead the offense. 

German pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out five and earned his seventh win of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks and he struck out one and Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Aroldis Chapman saved his ninth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and striking out two. 

Tyler Glasnow pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with three being earned.  He walked two and struck out nine, Emilio Pagan pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Adam Kolarek pitched to one batter and got him out.  Casey Sadler pitched three innings with two strikeouts. 

Luke Voit drew a walk, Sanchez had two hits and Clint Frazier had a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI, Miguel Andujar had a hit and Urshela had a hit and two RBI.  Cameron Maybin had a hit and drew a walk, Maybin hit a double and the Yankees were 4-15 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Maybin had a stolen base and was caught stealing. 

Austin Meadows had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Ji-Man Choi had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Yandy Diaz had a hit.  Avisail Garcia had a hit, Willy Adames had a hit and drew two walks and Nick Ciuffo had a hit.  Guillermo Heredia had a hit, Meadows and Adames each hit a double and Meadows and Choi each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Sadler and Diaz each committed an error.  Ciuffo had a passed ball. 

In the first a passed ball gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead and Torres hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Meadows hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at two.  Choi hit a solo homerun and the Rays had a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Urshela hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead and that would be the final score of the game. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Yankees win with great pitching and take series from the Seattle Mariners


The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-1.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and pitched his best game of the year and the bullpen was great.  DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres led the offense with two hits each. 

Happ pitched 5+ innings giving up one hit and no runs with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Happ picked up his second win of the season.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Tommy Khanle pitched an inning with a  strikeout and Zack Britton pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman picked up his eighth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Mike Leake took his fourth loss of the season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and a run with two strikeouts.  Connor Sadzeck pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts. 

LeMahieu had two hits, Gary Sanchez had a hit and Clint Frazier had a hit.  Torres had two hits and drew a walk, Gio Urshela had a hit and two RBI and Mike Tauchman had a hit.  Cameron Maybin had a hit and an RBI, Maybin and Torres each hit a double and the Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and Sanchez committed an error. 

Dee Gordon drew a walk, Dylan Moore drew a walk and Edwin Encarnacion drew two walks.  Domingo Santana had a hit and an RBI, Tom Murphy had a hit and Santana hit a homerun.  The Mariners were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Moore had a stolen base and Gordon was caught stealing. 

In the second Maybin hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the eighth Urshela hit a two-run single to push the Yankees lead to 3-0.  In the ninth Santana hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 3-1 but that would be the final score. 

The Yankees took three out of four in the series and will head to Tampa for a three-game series beginning on Friday night. 

New York Mets lose a close one to the San Diego Padres


The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 3-2.  Wilmer Font who the Mets just picked up made the start and he pitched well, the bullpen wasn’t bad.  Jeff McNeil and Tomas Nido each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Font pitched four innings and he gave up three hits and two runs with a strikeout.  Robert Gsellman pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Tyler Bashlor lost his first game and he pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Drew Gagnon pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Matt Strahm pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Gerardo Reyes pitched 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts and Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts and he picked up his 15th save of the season. 

McNeil had tow hits, Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI and Michael Conforto drew a walk.  J.D. Davis had a hit, Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk and Nido had two hits and an RBI.  Nimmo and McNeil each hit a double and Nido hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Conforto had a stolen base and Cano committed an error.  Nido had a pickoff. 

Franmil Reyes had a hit and an RBI, Manny Machado had a hit and Eric Hosmer had a hit and an RBI.  Hunter Renfroe had a hit and an RBI, Manuel Margot drew a walk and Strahm had a hit.  Strahm hit a double and Renfroe and Hosmer each hit a homerun.  The Padres were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Margot had a stolen base and was picked off. 

In the first Rosario hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Nido hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the second Hosmer hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the third Reyes hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the seventh Renfroe hit a solo homerun giving the Padres a 3-2 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Mets lost two out of three in this series and will be off on Thursday.  They will begin a three-game series with the Marlins at home on Friday night.

New York Yankees get beat up by the Seattle Mariners


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-1.  Jonathan Loaisiga started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well, the bullpen gave up a bunch of runs late also.  DJ LeMahieu and Mike Tauchman each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Loaisiga pitched four innings giving up six hits and four runs with two walks and three strikeouts and lost his first game of the season.  Luis Cessa pitched three innings giving up three hits and a run with five strikeouts and Jake Barrett pitched two innings giving up five hits and five runs with two walks and three strikeouts. 

Yusei Kikuchi pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Kikuchi won his second game of the season.  Cory Gearrin pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Connor Sadzeck pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

LeMahieu had two hits and drew a walk, Luke Voit had an RBI and Clint Frazier had a hit.  Mike Tauchman had two hits including a double and the Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Gio Urshela committed an error. 

Dee Gordon had two hits and an RBI, Mitch Haniger had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Daniel Vogelbach drew a walk.  Edwin Encarnacion had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Domingo Santana had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Omar Narvaez had two hits and two RBI.  Ryon Healy had four hits and two RBI, Dylan Moore had a hit and an RBI.  Santana and Moore each hit a double and Healy hit three doubles.  Encarnacion, Haniger and Healy each hit a homerun.  The Mariners were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Haniger had a stolen base and Moore was caught stealing. 

In the first Encarnacion hit a sac fly to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead.  In the third Haniger hit a solo homerun to make it a 2-0 game.  In the fourth Moore hit an RBI double, Gordon hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 4-0.  In the fifth Encarnacion hit a solo homerun to give the Mariners a 5-0 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Voit hit a sac fly and the lead was cut to 5-1.  In the eighth Healy hit a two-run homerun to make it 7-1 and in the ninth Santana hit an RBI double and Narvaez hit a two-run single and it was 10-1 which would be the final score of the game. 

The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Thursday night.  The Yankees have won two out of the first three games. 

New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres in high scoring affair


The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 7-6.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Robinson Cano had four hits and Pete Alonso had four RBI to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings and gave up nine hits and five runs with four being earned.  He walked one and struck out five.  Seth Lugo won his second game of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Edwin Diaz earned his ninth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and a run with two walks and two strikeouts. 

Cal Quantrill pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Brad Wieck pitched 1 2/3 innings with four strikeouts, Phil Maton pitched giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and he didn’t record an out and Robbie Erlin pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Craig Stammen pitched 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Adam Warren took his first loss of the season pitching two innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.

In the first Rosario hit an RBI single, Alonso hit an RBI single and the Mets grabbed a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Hosmer hit into a force-out and the lead was cut to 2-1.  In the third Reyes hit a solo homerun tying the game at two.  In the fourth France hit a two-run homerun to give the Padres a 4-2 lead.  In the sixth Renfroe hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 5-2.  In the seventh Alonso hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-3.  Conforto hit a sac fly making it 5-4 and Nimmo hit an RBI double to tie the game at five.  In the ninth Alonso hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 7-5 lead and in the bottom of the ninth Reyes hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-6 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees defeat the Seattle Mariners in walk-off fashion


The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen was good.  DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres, Gio Urshela and Cameron Maybin all led the offense with two hits each. 

Tanaka pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs.  He walked two and struck out four.  Jonathan Holder pitched to two batters and got them both out, Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up three hits and two unearned runs and Joe Harvey won his first game of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Marco Gonzales pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Cory Gearrin pitched an inning giving up two hits, Brandon Brennan pitched an inning giving up a run and two walks and he struck out two and Anthony Swarzak lost his second game of the season and blew his third save.  He pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs and Roenis Elias pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

LeMahieu had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks, Clint Frazier had a hit and Torres had two hits.  Urshela had two hits and two RBI, Maybin had two hits and Brett Gardner had an RBI and drew a walk.  Urshela hit a double and a homerun and the Yankees were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Maybin had a stolen base and Frazier and Urshela each committed an error. 

Dee Gordon had two hits, Mitch Haniger had a hit and Daneil Vogelbach had a hit.  Edwin Encarnacion had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Domingo Santana had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Jay Bruce had three hits and an RBI.  Ryan Healy had a hit and an RBI, Bruce hit two doubles and Encarnacion hit a homerun.  The Mariners were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Gordon had a stolen base and Gonzales committed an error. 

In the second Healy hit a sac fly to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead.  In the third Gardner hit an RBI ground out to tie the game at one.  In the sixth Encarnacion hit a solo homerun to give the Mariners a 2-1 lead.  In the eighth Santana hit an RBI single and Bruce hit an RBI double to push their lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the eighth a wild pitch cut the lead to 4-2.  In the ninth Urshela hit a two-run homerun to tie the game and then LeMahieu hit an RBI walk-off single to give the Yankees a 5-4 victory. 

The Yankees have won the first two games of the four-game series and will play again on Wednesday night. 

New York Mets get shutout in San Diego


The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Monday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 4-0.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well, the Mets offense couldn’t get anything going. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out seven and took his fourth loss of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout. 

Chris Paddack pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up four hits and no runs with a walk and 11 strikeouts.  He earned his third win of the season.  Craig Stammen pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout.

Greg Garcia had a hit, Manuel Margot had a hit and Manny Machado had a hit.  Eric Hosmer had two hits and two RBI, Hunter Renfroe had two hits and an RBI and Ty France had an RBI.  Wil Myers drew a walk, Renfroe and Hosmer each hit a double and Renfroe hit a homerun.  The Padres were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the fifth Renfroe hit a solo homerun giving the Padres a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh France hit a sac fly to make it 2-0.  In the eighth Hosmer hit a two-run double to push the lead to 4-0 and that would be the final score.

Felix Hernandez lost his third game of the season pitching five innings and giving up eight hits and seven runs with six being earned.  He walked one and struck out two.  Connor Sadzeck pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Chasen Bradford pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had two hits and an RBI, Luke Voit had a hit and two RBI and Gardner had two hits and an RBI.  Urshela had two hits and an RBI, Thairo Estrada had a hit and two RBI and Mike Tauchman had a hit and drew a walk.  LeMahieu and Tauchman each hit a double and Gardner hit a triple.  Estrada, Voit and Gardner each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-3 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base. 

Tim Beckham had a hit, Edwin Encarnacion had a hit and drew a walk and Domingo Santana had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Ryon Healy had a hit and drew a walk, Omar Narvaez drew a walk and Dee Gordon had three hits and an RBI.  Santana and Gordon each hit a homerun and the Mariners were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Healy committed an error. 

In the first Voit hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the second Gardner hit a solo homerun, Estrada hit a two-run homerun the first of his career and LeMahieu hit an RBI single to push the lead to 6-0.  In the third Urshela hit an RBI single to make it 7-0.  Santana hit a two-run homerun in the fourth to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the fifth Gordon hit a solo homerun to make it a 7-3 game.  7-3 would be the final score. 

The teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night.

New York Mets are swept by the Milwaukee Brewers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the final score was 3-2.  Jason Vargas started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen pitched well.  Amed Rosario had three hits to lead the offense. 

Vargas pitched four innings giving up three hits and three runs with five strikeouts.  Vargas lost his second game of the season.  Tim Peterson pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Daniel Zamora pitched to one batter and got him out and Tyler Bashlor pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and drew a walk and struck out two. 

Zach Davies won his fourth game of the season pitching 7 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Matt Albers pitched to one batter and struck him out and Josh Hader pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and earning his ninth save of the season. 

Rosario had three hits, Keon Broxton had a hit and Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI.  Tomas Nido had a hit and an RBI.  Michael Conforto drew a walk, Broxton hit a double and Rosario hit a double.  Lagares hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Rosario was caught stealing. 

Lorenzo Cain had an RBI, Ben Gamel had a hit and Christian Yelich had a hit and two RBI.  Jesus Aguilar had a hit, Manny Pina had a hit and Orlando Arcia had a hit.  Eric Thames drew a walk, Arcia, Pina and Aguilar each hit a double.  Yelich hit a homerun and the Brewers were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the third Cain hit a sac fly to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead.  Yelich hit a two-run homerun and it was 3-0 Brewers.  In the fifth Nido hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-1 and in the seventh Lagares hit a solo homerun to make it 3-2 and that would be the final score of the game. 

The Mets were swept in the three- game series and will begin a three-game series at the Padres on Monday night. 

New York Mets lose in 18 innings to the Milwaukee Brewers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night.  The game took place at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the final score was 4-3 in 18 innings.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well, the bullpen also pitched very well. Jeff McNeil had three hits and Pete Alonso had two hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Daniel Zamora pitched a perfect inning, Seth Lugo pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Edwin Diaz pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Drew Gagnon pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Ryan O’Rourke pitched 2/3 of an inning walking two and Robert Gsellman pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out four.  Chris Flexen pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with four walks and a strikeout and he lost his second game of the season. 

Gio Gonzalez pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with seven strikeouts, Matt Albers pitched 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts and Junior Guerra pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.  Jeremy Jeffress pitched a perfect inning, Corbin Burnes pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Alex Claudio pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up wo hits and he struck out one.  Adrian Houser pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and Taylor Williams pitched four innings giving up three hits and a run with three strikeouts and he won his first game of the season. 

McNeil had three hits and an RBI, Alonso had two hits and an RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk.  Wilson Ramos had a hit, Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI and Adeiny Hechavarria had two hits.  Rosario hit a triple and Alonso hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Hechavarria had a stolen base, Wheeler committed an error and Rosario committed two errors.  Ramos had a pickoff. 

Lorenzo Cain had a hit and an RBI, Eric Thames drew three walks and Mike Moustakas had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Yasmani Grandal drew a walk, Travis Shaw drew a walk and Ryan Braun had six hits and two RBI.  Ben Gamel had a hit and drew a walk, Orlando Arcia had a hit and Hernan Perez had a hit.  Moustakas hit a double and Braun hit two homeruns.  The Brewers were 3-14 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base.  Thames was caught stealing and Braun had an outfield assist. 
In the second Rosario hit an RBI triple to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Cain hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Moustakas hit an RBI double and it was 2-1 Brewers.  In the ninth Alonso hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the top of the 18th McNeil hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 3-2 lead and in the bottom of the 18th Braun hit a two-run walk-off single to give the Brewers a 4-

New York Yankees defeat the Minnesota Twins to take series


The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Sunday evening.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-1 in 7 1/2 rain shortened innings. Domingo German started for the Yankees and pitched great and the bullpen did their job.  Mike Tauchman hit a two-run homerun to lead the offense. 

German pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and seven strikeouts.  German won his sixth game of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched to one batter and struck him out, Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Aroldis Chapman pitched to one batter and struck him out and saved his seventh game of the season. 

Michael Pineda pitched five innings giving up six hits and four runs with three being earned.  He walked three and struck out eight.  Pineda lost his third game of the season.  Trevor May pitched an inning with two walks and a strikeout, Matt Magill pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Fernando Romero pitched to one batter and walked him. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez had a hit and drew a walk and Miguel Andujar had a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk, Brett Gardner drew a walk and Gio Urshela had a hit and drew a walk.  Cameron Maybin drew a walk, Tauchman had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Tauchman hti a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Max Kepler drew a walk,Nelson Cruz drew a walk and Eddie Rosario had a hit.  CJ Cron drew a walk, Marwin Gonzalez had two hits and an RBI and Byron Buxton had a hit and drew a walk.   The Twins were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Polanco committed an error and Castro had a passed ball. 

In the second LeMahieu hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Gonzalez hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fourth Tauchman hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 4-1 and that would be the final score of the game.

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Minnesota Twins on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-3.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he wasn’t great.  DJ LeMahieu led the offense with two hits. 

Happ lost his third game of the season pitching 5 2/3 innings and giving up seven hits and four runs.  He walked one and struck out three.  Joe Harvey pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run, Stephen Tarpley pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Jake Barrett pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Jake Odorizzi won his fourth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up two hits and no runs with four walks and eight strikeouts.  Trevor Hildenberger pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs, Blake Parker pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run and Taylor Rogers pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.

Mitch Garver had three hits and two RBI, Nelson Cruz had a hit and an RBI and Eddie Rosario had a hit and an RBI.  Marwin Gonzalez had a hit, C.J. Cron had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Max Kepler had a hit and drew a walk.  Jonathan Schoop had two hits and an RBI, Byron Buxton had two hits.  Buxton hit a double and Cruz, Cron and Garver each hit a homerun.  The Twins were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Odorizzi had a pickoff. 

In the third Garver hit a two-run homerun to give the Twins a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Polanco hit into a double play and a run scored to push the Twins lead to 3-0.  Cron hit a solo homerun in the sixth and the lead extended to 4-0.  In the seventh Rosario hit into a force out and the lead was up to 5-0.  In the bottom of the seventh the Yankees finally got on the board with a wild pitch and a LeMahieu RBI single cutting the lead to 5-2.  In the eighth Schoop hit an RBI single making it a 6-2 game.  In the bottom of the eighth Sanchez hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-3 but the Twins added a run in the ninth on a Cruz solo homerun and the final score would be 7-3. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Sunday afternoon.
