New York Yankees at Washington Nationals

The New York Yankees will begin a brief two game series in Washington D.C. tonight.  The Nationals are one of the hottest teams in baseball playing up to their potential finally behind their star Bryce Harper.  The Nationals also have a very good pitching staff.  The Yankees have been slumping with all the road games and 30 games in 31 days finally hitting them.  They finally got a day off on Monday and I am sure they enjoyed it and will come out feeling refreshed and ready to go.  Here are the pitching matchups

Nathan Eovaldi vs. Gio Gonzalez.  Eovaldi has been pretty good this  year, giving the Yankees some hope for now and the future.  Eovaldi is still evolving as a pitcher as he is only 25 years old.  Eovaldi is 3-1 with a 4.14 ERA and Gonzalez is 3-2 with a 4.25 ERA.

On Wednesday night it will be Adam Warren vs. Jordan Zimmerman.  Warren is 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA and Zimmerman is 3-2 with a 3.66 ERA.  Warren is coming off of his longest start of his career.  The Yankees will then head home finally to take on the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals before heading west for the first time this season.

In this series with Washington another thing to watch is the pitchers betting and Arod being the DH isn't going to play unless he pinch hits.  That is a big bat to take out of a slumping Yankees lineup.
