The New York Yankee drop their second straight to the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-0.  Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and pitched well but made one bad pitch that cost him dearly.  The Yankees offense was shutdown once again only managing three hits. 

Nova pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Nova lost his fourth game of the season.  Adam Warren pitched to two batters and struck them both out and Bryan Mitchell pitched three innings giving up three hits and two runs with only one of them being earned.  He struck out a batter. 

David Price pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Price won his 11th game of the season.  Aaron Sanchez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Mark Lowe pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk, Alex Rodriguez had a hit and Carlos Beltran had a hit and drew a walk.  Chase Headley drew a walk, Didi Gregorius had a hit and the Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ryan committed an error. 

Troy Tulowitzki had a hit and an RBI, Donaldson had a hit and drew a walk and Bautista had a hit.  Edward Encarnacion had a hit and drew a walk, Justin Smoak had a hit and four RBI and Russell Martin had a hit and an RBI.  Anthony Goins had a hit, Smoak hit a homerun and Tulowitzki hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the sixth Smoak  hit a grand slam to give the Blue Jays a 4-0 lead.  In the seventh Tulowitzki extended the Blue Jays lead to 5-0 and in the eighth Martin hit an RBI single to make it 6-0 which would be the final score.  The Yankees will look to avoid the sweep on Sunday afternoon and stop some of the Blue Jays momentum as their first place lead shrinks. 

New York Yankees drop a thriller to the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1 Blue Jays.  Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and pitched very well and the offense didn't do much. 

Eovaldi pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Justin Wilson pitched to one batter and struck him out, Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit adn a walk with two strikeouts and Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Branden Pinder pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and he took his first loss of the season. 

R.A. Dickey pitched seven innings giving up six hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  LaTroy Hawkins pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Brett Cecil pitched an inning giving up a hit and won his third game of the season and Roberto Osuna saved his ninth game of the season pitching a perfect inning. 

Brett Gardner had two hits, Alex Rodriguez drew a walk and Mark Teixeira had two hits and an RBI.  Carlos Beltran had a hit and drew a walk, Chase Headley had a hit and Didi Gregorius had two hits and Teixeira hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Teixeira committed an error. 

Troy Tulowitzki drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had a hit,  an RBI and drew a walk and Jose Bautista had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Edward Encarnacion had a hit, Russell Martin had a hit and Chris Colabello had a hit.  Kevin Pillar had a hit, Ben Revere had a hit and Encarnacion hti a double.  Donaldson and Bautista each hit a homerun and the Blue Jays were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Bautista had a stolen base. 

In the first Donaldson hit a solo homerun giving the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the second Teixeira hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the tenth inning Bautista hit a solo homerun to give the Jays a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.

The New York Yankees hang on for a victory over the Boston Red Sox



The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  CC Sabathia started and pitched very well, the bullpen did their job and Jacoby Ellsbury and Alex Rodriguez each had two hits. 

Sabathia pitched six innings giving up a run on three hits.  He walked three and struck out eight.  Justin Wilson picked up his fourth win of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit but striking out the side, Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Andrew Miller picked up his 24th save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Eduardo Rodriguez pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Robbie Ross Jr. pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Ellsbury had two hits and an RBI, Brett Gardner had a hit and Rodriguez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Mark Teixeira drew a walk, Brendan Ryan had a hit and Rodriguez hit a double.  Ellsbury hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Rusney Castillo had a hit and an RBI, Xander Bogaerts drew a walk and Hanley Ramirez had a hit.  Pablo Sandoval drew a walk, Ryan Hanigan had two hits and Travis Shaw had a hit.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and drew two walks.  The Red Sox were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Ramirez had a stolen base. 

In the third Rodriguez hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Castillo hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the seventh Ellsbury hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees the 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The Yankees took two out of three in the series and will begin a series with the second place Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The Yankees in their last series have gone 8-0-1 and that dates back to the end of June.  They have a six game lead in the loss column beginning play on Friday.

The New York Mets win their sixth straight game



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 8-6 Mets.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and pitched great but the bullpen was bad.  Daniel Murphy and Ruben Tejada each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Harvey pitched seven innings giving up two hits and no runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  He earned his tenth win of the season.  Bobby Parnell pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Eric O'Flaherty the newest Mets pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and four runs with a strikeout and Hansel Robles pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Jeurys Familia picked up his 29th save of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up two hits. 

David Phelps lost his eighth game of the season pitching 4 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and seven runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Chris Narveson pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out four and A.J. Ramos pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run. 

Curtis Granderson had two hits, Murphy had three hits and drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had two hits and an RBI.  Lucas Duda had a hit, three RBI and drew two walks, Juan Uribe had a hit and three RBI and Michael Conforto had an RBI.  Tejada had three hits including two doubles, Duda and Murphy also each hit a double.  Uribe hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Dee Gordon had two hits and an RBI, Derek Dietrich had three hits and Justin Bour had a hit and an RBI.  Martin Prado had a hit, Ichiro Suzuki had a hit and an RBI and Adeiny Hechavarria  had a hit.  Jeff Mathis drew two walks, Miguel Rojas had a hit and three RBI and Dietrich, Bour and Rojas each hit a double.  The Marlins were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the third Cespedes hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Duda hit a two run double to extend the Mets lead to 3-0.  Conforto hit a sac fly to make it 4-0 in the third and in the fifth Uribe hit a three run homerun to push the lead to 7-0 Mets.  In the ninth Duda hit a sac fly to make it 8-0 and seem out of reach but the Marlins stormed back in the bottom of the ninth.  Bour hit an RBI double, Suzuki hit an RBI single and Rojas hit a three run double to make it an 8-5 game.  Gordon hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-6 but that would be the final score.  The Mets swept the series and will be off on Thursday.   

Luis Severino shines in debut but the New York Yankees lose to the Boston Red Sox



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and made his highly anticipated major league debut.  He didn't dissappoint but Steven Wright the Red Sox pitcher completely shut down the Yankees offense. 

Severino pitched five innings giving up two runs with only one of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out seven and took his first loss of the season and career.  Adam Warren pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked two with a strikeout. 

Wright won his fifth game of the season pitching  eight innings and giving up four hits and a run with two walks and nine strikeouts.  Koji Uehara picked up his 24th save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a walk. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Mark Teixeira had a hit and Carlos Beltran had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Chase Headley drew a walk, Didi Gregorius had a hit and John Ryan Murphy had two hits.  Beltran hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Headley committed an error. 

David Ortiz had a hit and an RBI, Pablo Sandoval had two hits and Mike Napoli drew a walk.  Alejandro De Aza had a hit and an RBI, Rusney Castillo drew a walk and De Aza hit a double and Sandoval hit two doubles.  Ortiz hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Swihart had a passed ball. 

In the second De Aza hit an RBI double giving the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Ortiz hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0.  Beltran hit a solo homerun in the seventh to cut the lead to 2-1 but that would be the final score.  The two teams have split the first two games and play the third and final game of the series on Thursday night.

The New York Mets win their fifth straight game



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 5-1 Mets.  Jon Niese started and pitched great and Lucas Duda and Ruben Tejada each had two hits. 

Niese pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and six strikeouts.  Niese won his sixth game of the season.  Tyler Clippard pitched an inning giving up two hits and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Brad Hand pitched four innings giving up five hits and no runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Adam Conley pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts, Bryan Morris pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Mike Dunn lost his fifth game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up five  hits and four runs with a strikeout.  Brian Ellington pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings with a strikeout. 

Curtis Granderson ahd a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and Juan Uribe had a hit.  Duda had two hits, Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and drew a walk and Wilmer Flores had a hit.  Tejada had two hits and an RBI, Niese had a hit and Eric Campbell had a hit and an RBI.  Juan Lagares had a hit and two RBI, Flores and Granderson each hit a double and Lagares hit a triple.  The Mets were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Uribe committed an error.

In the third Gordon hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Tejada hit an RBI single tying the game at one.  In the eighth Campbell hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 2-1 lead and Lagares hit a two run triple to make it 4-1 Mets.  Granderson hit an RBI double and it was 5-1 Mets and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game three of three on Wednesday night.  The Mets will look for the sweep and their sixth straight win. 

The New York Yankees win in blowout fashion over the Boston Red Sox



The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 13-3 Yankees.  Masahiro Tanaka started and pitched pretty well.  The Yankees bullpen was good and the offense was great again.  Young had three hits and McCann hit a three run homerun. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs witha  walk and three strikeouts.  Tanaka won his eighth game of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Dellin Betances pitched 1/3 of an inning walking one and striking out one and Branden Pinder pitched a perfect inning.  Nick Rumbelow pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Henry Owens was making his major league debut and he took the loss.  He pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Robbie Ross Jr. pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk, Jean Machi pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out one, Craig Breslow pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and five runs with a walk and a strikeout and Alexi Ogando pitched  1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and an RBI, Young had three hits and three RBI with a walk and Alex Rodriguez had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks.  Mark Teixeira had two hits and two RBI, Brian McCann had two hits and four RBI and Carlos Beltran had a hit and an RBI.  Chase Headley had two hits and an RBI, Didi Gregorius drew a walk and Brendan Ryan drew a walk.  Rodriguez hit a double, McCann, Beltran and Headley each hit a double and McCann and Young each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 8-15 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

David Ortiz drew a walk, Pablo Sandoval had a hit and an RBI and Mike Napoli had two hits.  Alejandro De Aza ahd a hit, Rusney Castillo had two hits and Blake Swihart had a hit and an RBI.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had an RBI and drew a walk, Napoli hit two doubles and Sandoval hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Castillo and Bradley each had a stolen base.  Bogaerts committed an error. 

In the first Teixeira hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Swihart hit an RBI single to tie the game and Bradley Jr. hit a sac fly to give the Red Sox a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Teixeira hit an RBI single to tie the game at two and McCann hit an RBI double giving them a 3-2 lead.  Beltran hit an RBI groundout to extend the lead to 4-2.  In the seventh Sandoval hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the seventh the Yankees scored nine runs.  Rodriguez hit an RBI single, McCann hit a three run homerun and Headley hit an RBI double.  It was 9-3 Yankees and Ellsbury hit an RBI single, Young a three run homerun and the score was 13-3 Yankees which would be the final score.  The Yankees have won 11 of their last 15 games and over their last ten have averaged about ten runs a game.  The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night with the major league debut of Luis Severino of the Yankees.

The New York Mets blowout the Marlins in Miami



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 12-1.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched well, Michael Conforto hit his first major league homerun and Yoenis Cespedes hit three doubles. 

Colon pitched eight innings giving up a run on seven hits.  He walked none and struck out five and earned his tenth win of the season.  Sean Gilmartin pitched a perfect inning. 

Tom Koehler pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and seven runs with six of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out six and took his eighth loss of the season.  Andre Rienzo pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts, Chris Reed pitched two innings giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Brian Ellington pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Curtis Granderson had three hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Daniel Murphy had a hit and drew a walk and Cespedes had three hits and four RBI.  Juan Lagares had a hit, Lucas Duda drew two walks and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Kelly Johnson had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Travis d'Arnaud had two hits and Conforto had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Colon had a hit, Cespedes hit three doubles, d'Arnaud hit two doubles and Flores hit a double.  Conforto hit a homerun and the Mets were 8-17 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. 

Dee Gordon had a hit, Ichiro Suzuki had a hit and Christian Yelich had three hits and an RBI.  Martin Prado had a hit, Casey McGehee had a hit and Yelich hit two doubles.  The Marlins were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Yelich had a stolen base and McGehee committed an error. 

In the second Conforto hit a three run homerun to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.  In the fifth Cespedes  hit a two run double to make it 5-0 Mets.  Flores hit an RBI double and Johnson hit an RBI groundout and it was 7-0 Mets.  In the sixth Cespedes hit a two run double to increase the Mets lead to 9-0.  A wild pitch made it 10-0 Mets.  In the seventh inning Granderson hit a two run single to push the lead to 12-0.  Yelich got the Marlins on the board in the eighth with an RBI double to make it 12-1 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.  The Mets took over sole possession of first place with their win and the Nationals losing. 

The New York Mets complete a three game sweep of the Washington Nationals



The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Sunday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched really well.  Daniel Murphy and Lucas Duda each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard pitched eight innings giving up seven htis and two runs with nine strikeouts.  He won his sixth game of the season.  Tyler Clippard saved his 18th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Jordan Zimmerman pitched six innings giving up six hits and five runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Zimmerman lost his seventh game of the season.  Felipe Rivero pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit and two RBI, Murphy had two hits and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes ahd a hit.  Duda had two hits and two RBI, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Kevin Plawecki had a hit and drew two walks.  Flores hit a double and Granderson, Murphy and Duda each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first on a replay review Rendon hit a solo  homerun to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the third Granderson hit a two run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  Murphy hit a solo homerun making it back-to-back homeruns and a 3-1 lead.  Duda hit a two run homerun to extend the lead to 5-1.  In the sixth Escobar hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-2 Mets and that would be the final score.  The Mets swept the three game series and will head to Miami for a three game series beginning on Monday night.  They are now tied for first place with the Nationals.

The New York Yankees end long road trip with a victory in Chicago



The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 12-3.  Ivan Nova started and pitched well and Chase Headley and Didi Gregorius each had two hits and Stephen Drew had three hits. 

Nova pitched six innings giving up five hits and a run.  He walked two and struck out seven and earned his fourth win of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout, Branden Pinder pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Andrew Miller pitched a perfect inning. 

Jeff Samardzija lost his sixth game of the season ptiching 4 2/3 innings and giving up eight hits and nine runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Scott Carroll pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out six.

Adam Eaton had two hits and drew a walk, Jose Abreu had a hit and Melky Cabrera had two hits and an RBI.  Avasail Garcia had a hit, Adam LaRoche had a hit and Alexei Ramirez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Geovany Soto had a hit and an RBI, Eaton hit a double and Ramirez and Soto each hit a homerun.  The White Sox were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Eaton had a stolen base and Ramirez was caught stealing.  Sanchez committed an error. 

In the first Ellsbury led off the game with a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Gregorius hit a two run single making it a 3-0 game.  Ellsbury hit a sac fly to make it 4-0 and Gardner hti a two run single to make it 6-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Teixeira hit a solo homerun making it 7-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Drew hit a two run double to increase the Yankees lead to 9-0.  The White Sox got on the board in the sixth with an RBI single by Cabrera to cut the lead to 9-1.  Drew hit a two run triple in the seventh to push the lead to 11-1.  Ellsbury hit an RBI ground out to make it 12-1 Yankees.  Ramirez and Soto each hit a solo homerun in the seventh to make it 12-3 and that was the final score.  The Yankees will have the day off on Monday before returning home on Tuesday night to begin a series against the Boston Red Sox.  The Yankees finished their ten game road trip with a 6-4 record. 

The New York Yankees are taken down in Chicago



The New  York Yankees were defeated by the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night.  The game took place at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 8-2 White Sox.  Bryan Mitchell started and he wasn't very good and Diego Moreno out of the pen was bad.  The Yankees offense didn't do much, Brian McCann hit a homerun. 

Mitchell pitched four innings giving up seven hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Mitchell lost his first game of the season.   Moreno pitched three innings giving up four hits and four runs with a walk and Nick Rumbelow pitched a perfect inning.  

John Danks won his sixth game of the season pitching 5 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with four walks and eight strikeouts.  Jake Petricka pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Zach Duke pitched to two batters and retired them both and Zach Putnam pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.

Adam Eaton had two hits and drew a walk, Tyler Saladino had a hit and an RBI and Jose Abreu had a hit and an RBI.  Melky Cabrera had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Avisail Garcia had a hit and Adam Laroche drew a walk.  Alexei Ramirez had two hits and two RBI, Tyler Flowers had two hits and Abreu, Flowers and Ramirez each hit a double.  Ramirez and Cabrera each hit a homerun and the White Sox were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Saladino had a stolen base. 

In the first Abreu hit an RBI double to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the second Ramirez hit a solo homerun to make it 2-0 White Sox.  In the third Gregorius was robbed of a three run homerun but it was a sac fly to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Saldino hit an RBI single making it 3-1 and Cabrera hit a three run homerun to extend the lead to 6-1.  In the seventh Ramirez hit an RBI double to make it 7-1 White Sox.  A wild pitch made it 8-1 and McCann hit a solo homerun in the ninth to make it 8-2 which was the final score.  The two teams will play game three which will be the rubber game of the series.  The Yankees will also be looking to finish their ten game road trip with a winning record.  They are 5-4 currently on the road trip. 

The New York Yankees offense erupts in Chicago for big victory



The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 13-6.  Nathan Eovaldi started and pitched pretty well.  Mark Teixeira led the offense with three hits and six RBI but a lot of guys had multi hit games. 

Eovaldi pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked three and struck out five and earned his 11th win of the season.  Adam Warren pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs and he struck out four and Nick Goody pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Carlos Rodon lost his fourth game of the season pitching three innings and giving up eight hits and eight runs with four walks and four strikeouts.  Matt Albers pitched an inning giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout, Dan Jennings pitched two innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts and Daniel Webb pitched two innings giving up two hits and two walks with a strikeout.  Adam LaRoche pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Chris Young had two hits and drew a walk and Alex Rodriguez had two hits, an RBI and drew three walks.  Teixeira had three hits, six RBI and drew two walks, Carlos Beltran had three hits and an RBI.  Chase Headley had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, John Ryan Murphy had two hits and drew a walk and Brendan Ryan had three hits and an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had an RBI, Rodriguez, Young, Teixeira each hit a double and Beltran hit two doubles.  Ryan and Murphy also each hit a double and Teixeira hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 6-18 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base.

In the first Beltran hit an RBI double giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Rodriguez hit an RBI single to make it 2-0.  Teixeira hit a grand slam and it was 6-0 Yankees.  In the third Abreu hit a two run homerun to make it a 6-2 game.  In the fourth a wild pitch made it 7-2.  Teixeira hit a two run homerun to make it 9-2, Ryan hit an RBI single and Gregorius hit a sac fly to make it a 11-2 game.  In the fifth Headley hit an RBI single to make it 12-2 Yankees.  In the fifth Cabrera hit an RBI single to make it a 12-3 game.  In the sixth Ellsbury hit an RBI single to push the lead to 13-3.  Shuck hit an RBI triple in the seventh to make it 13-4.  A wild pitch made it 13-5 and in the ninth LaRoche hit an RBI single to make it 13-6 which was the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.
