New York Yankees slug the Oakland Athletics

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-3.  Clarke Schmidt started for the Yankees, and he pitched well, the bullpen pitched great.  Anthony Volpe, Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and Austin Wells each had two hits to lead the offensive attack.   

Schmidt started for the Yankees, and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Schmidt won his second game of the season.  Luke Weaver pitched 2 2/3 perfect innings with three strikeouts and Ian Hamilton pitched a perfect ninth inning. 

Joe Boyle started for the Athletics, and he pitched three innings giving up three hits and two runs with four walks and six strikeouts.  Boyle picked up his fourth loss of the season.  Michael Kelly pitched two innings giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout, Dany Jimenez pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Kyle Muller pitched two innings giving up four hits and a run. 

Volpe had two hits and an RBI, Juan Soto had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Judge had two hits and two RBI.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Rizzo had two hits and an RBI and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Alex Verdugo had an RBI and drew two walks; Wells had two hits and drew a walk and Volpe hit a triple.  Judge, Rizzo and Soto each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

Tyler Nevin had a hit, JJ Bleday had a hit and Brent Rooker had a hit, three RBI and drew two walks.  Lawrence Butler had a hit, Bleday and Nevin each hit a double and Rooker hit a homerun.  The Athletics were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Noda and Allen each committed errors.  Butler had an outfield assist. 

In the bottom of the first Judge hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Volpe hit an RBI triple pushing the lead to 3-0 and in the bottom of the fifth Rizzo hit a two-run homerun extending the lead to 5-0.  In the top of the sixth Rooker hit a three-run homerun cutting the lead to 5-3.  In the bottom of the sixth Soto hit a solo homerun making it 6-3 and in the bottom of the seventh Verdugo hit a sac fly pushing the lead to 7-3 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees will try and win the series on Thursday night. 

New York Yankees edge the Oakland Athletics

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Marcus Stroman started for the Yankees, and he pitched ok, the bullpen pitched well.  The offense only managed five hits and four of them with the four runs were all in the first inning. 

Stroman pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  Stroman picked up his second win of the season.  Ron Marinaccio pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Caleb Ferguson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Dennis Santana pitched to two batters and retired them both.  Clay Holmes picked up his ninth save of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Paul Blackburn started for the Athletics, and he pitched six innings giving up five hits and four runs with five strikeouts.  He took his first loss of the season.  T.J. McFarland pitched a perfect inning and Austin Adams pitched an inning with a walk. 

Anthony Volpe had a hit; Juan Soto had a hit and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and two RBI; Anthony Rizzo had a hit, and two RBI and Austin Wells drew a walk.  Judge and Stanton each hit doubles and Rizzo hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Esteury Ruiz had a hit, Brent Rooker drew a walk and Seth Brown had a hit and an RBI.  Tyler Nevin had two hits, Lawrence Butler had a hit, and an RBI and Shea Langeliers had a hit and an RBI.  Nick Allen had a hit, JJ Bleday drew a walk and Brown hit a double, Langeliers and Butler each hit a homerun.  The Athletics were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the top of the first Brown hit an RBI double giving the Athletics a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Stanton hit a two-run double giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  Rizzo hit a two-run homerun and the lead was pushed to 4-1.  In the second Langeliers hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2 and in the fourth Butler hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-3 and that would be the final score.  The series is even at one game each with two more to play.

New York Yankees have a great ninth inning comeback to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays

 The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place

At Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 6-4.  Marcus Stroman started for the Yankees

And he pitched well, the bullpen pitched well for the final 2 2/3 innings and Juan Soto led the offense with

Three hits.  

Stroman pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  

Caleb Ferguson pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout, Ian

Hamilton pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Victor Gonzalez earned

His first win of the season pitching to one batter and getting him out.  Clay Holmes earned his seventh 

Save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit.  

Kevin Gausman pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and six strikeouts.  

Trevor Richards pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Genesis Cabrera pitched two innings giving up

Two hits and a run with three strikeouts and Erik Swanson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits

And three runs.  Tim Mayza pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a 

Strikeout.  

Soto had three hits, two RBI and drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit and two RBI and Anthony Rizzo

Had a hit.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Alex 

Verdugo had a hit.  Oswaldo Cabrera had two hits, Austin Wells drew a walk and Jose Trevino had a hit 

And an RBI.  Cabrera, Soto and Verdugo each hit a double.  Soto and Stanton each hit a homerun.  

The Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Wells had a stolen 

Base and Soto had an outfield assist.  

George Springer had a hit, Vlad Guerrero Jr. Had a hit and drew a walk and Bo Bichette had a hit, an RBI

And drew a walk.  Davis Schneider had a hit, Daulton Varsho had two hits and three RBI and 

Alejandro Kirk drew a walk.  Kevin Kiermaier had three hits and drew a walk, Bichette hit a double and 

Varsho hit two homeruns.  The Jays were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.

In the bottom of the second Varsho hit a two-run homerun giving the Jays a 2-0 lead.  In the top of the 

Fifth Soto hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Varsho hit a solo

Homerun pushing the lead to 3-1, Bichette hit a sac fly and it was 4-1.  

In the eighth Soto hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2 and in the ninth Stanton hit a solo homerun

Making it 4-3, Trevino hit an RBI single tying the game at four and Judge hit a two-run single giving

The Yankees a 6-4 lead which would be the final score.  

The Yankees will head home to start a three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.  


Yankees rally falls short in Toronto

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  The game took place 

At Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 5-4.  Carlos Rodon started for the Yankees 

And he didn’t pitch well.  Alex Verdugo had two hits to lead the offense.  

Rodon pitched four innings giving up five hits and three runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  He took

His first loss of the season.  Luke Weaver pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with two

Strikeouts, Nick Burdi pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks with two strikeouts and Victor

Gonzalez pitched an inning with a walk.  

Yusei Kikuchi started for the Blue Jays and he pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with a 

Walk and nine strikeouts.  Kikuchi picked up his first win of the season.  Trevor Richards pitched 

An inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout, Yimi Garcia pitched a perfect

Inning and Jordan Romano picked up his first save of the season pitching an inning giving up a hit

And a run.  

Juan Soto had a hit, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Gleyber Torres drew two walks.  Verdugo had

Two hits, Jose Trevino had a hit and three RBI and Oswaldo Cabrera had a hit and an RBI.  Cabrera

Hit a double and Verdugo hit two doubles.  The Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and

Left five men on base.  Torres committed an error.  

George Springer had a hit and drew two walks, Vlad Guerrero Jr. Had two hits, two RBI and drew two 

Walks.  Bo Bichette had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Justin Turner had a hit and an RBI and 

Danny Jansen drew a walk.  Ernie Clement had two hits, Daulton Varsho had a hit and drew a walk.

Varsho hit a double and Clement hit a double.  The Jays were 3-13 with runners in scoring position

And left ten men on base.  Clement, Varsho and Kiner-Falefa each had a stolen base.  Turner was

Caught stealing.  

In the top of the second Trevino hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom

Of the third Turner hit a sac fly tying the game at one.  In the bottom of the fourth Guerrero Jr.

Hit a two-run single giving the Blue Jays a 3-1 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth a run scored on an error

And Bichette hit an RBI single pushing the Jays lead to 5-1.  In the top of the seventh Trevino hit an RBI

Groundout cutting the lead to 5-2.  Cabrera hit a sac fly making it 5-3.  In the ninth Trevino hit an RBI

Groundout cutting th lead to 5-4 but that was the final score.  

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Wednesday afternoon.  The Yankees will

Try and avoid the sweep and end their losing streak at three games.
