New York Yankees steamroll the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday afternoon.  The game was made up from last night after the game got rained out.  It was played at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 9-1.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and pitched well and so did the bullpen.  Aaron Judge, Chase Headley, Todd Frazier and Starlin Castro each hit a homerun. 

Gray pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and an unearned run.  He walked two and struck out five and earned his ninth win of the season.  Chad Green pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two, Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning and Ben Heller pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Kevin Gausman pitched three innings giving up five hits and five runs with three walks and four strikeouts and he lost his tenth game of the season.  Mike Wright pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Donnie Hart pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and a run and Richard Rodriguez pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Jimmy Yacabonis pitched an inning striking out one and Mychal Givens pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had two hits and drew two walks, Headley had a hit and two RBI and Castro had a hit and an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had three hits and an RBI, Judge had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Matt Holliday had a hit and an RBI.  Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and an RBI, T. Frazier had a hit and an RBI and Austin Romine had two hits.  Gregorius hit two doubles, Gardner and Ellsbury each hit a double.  Judge, Headley, Castro and T. Frazier each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and Gregorius committed an error. 

Tim Beckham had two hits and drew a walk, Jonathan Schoop had a hit and Adam Jones had two hits.  Trey Mancini drew a walk, Chris Davis had a hit and Caleb Joseph had a hit.  Jones and Joseph each hit a double and the Orioles were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Gregorius hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Judge hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the third Holliday hit an RBI single to push the lead to 4-0 and Ellsbury hit an RBI ground out to make it a 5-0 game.  In the fourth Gardner hit a two-run homerun to make it 7-0.  In the sixth Castro hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 8-0.  In the bottom of the sixth Trumbo reached on a force attempt error and a run scored to make it 8-1 and in the seventh T. Frazier hit a solo homerun to make it 9-1 which was the final score. 

The Yankees took two out of three from the Baltimore Orioles.  They will head to Texas for three beginning on Friday night. 


Yankees lose a tough one in Baltimore on a walk-off homerun


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.   The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 7-6.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well.  The Yankees bullpen did a pretty good job and the offense was led by Starlin Castro and Jacoby Ellsbury who each had two hits. 

Sabathia pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and five runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Tommy Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one, David Robertson pitched an inning with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Delllin Betances pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his sixth game of the season.  He also blew his third save of the season. 

Jeremy Hellickson pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and five runs with three of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out one.  Richard Bleier pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run, Jimmy Yacabonis pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and he walked one and Ubaldo Jimenez pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Darren O’Day pitched an inning with a couple of strikeouts, Brad Brach pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Zach Britton pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and he won his second game of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Castro had two hits.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, two runs and drew a walk, Matt Holliday drew two walks and Greg Bird had a hit and an RBI.  Todd Frazier had an RBI, Ellsbury had two hits and two RBI and drew a walk and Austin Romine had a hit.  The Yankees were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Tim Beckham drew a walk, Manny Machado had two hits and three RBI and Jonathan Schoop had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Adam Jones had a hit, Trey Mancini had two hits and an RBI and Mark Trumbo had a hit and two RBI.  Welington Castillo had a hit, Joey Rickard had a hit and drew a walk and Machado hit two homeruns and Schoop and Trumbo each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Jones committed an error. 

In the first Mancini hit an RBI single to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the third Gregorius hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  Bird hit a sac fly, Frazier hit an RBI ground out and Ellsbury hit a two-run single to extend the lead to 6-1.  In the bottom of the third Machado hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the fifth Schoop hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-3.  In the sixth Trumbo hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 6-5 and in the ninth Machado hit a two-run walk-off homerun to give the Orioles a 7-6 victory. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the three game series on Wednesday night.

Yankees take Labor Day Matinee in Baltimore


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 7-4.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched ok and the bullpen pitched well.  Starlin Castro had three hits and three RBI to lead the offense. 

Montgomery pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out four.  Chad Green won his third game of the season pitching 2 1/3 perfect innings with four strikeouts, David Robertson pitched an inning with two walks and two strikeouts and Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

Dylan Bundy lost his ninth game of the season pitching four innings giving up five hits and five runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  Miguel Castro pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two runs and three walks and Donnie Hart pitched 1/3 of an inning and walked a batter.  Richard Rodriguez pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a walk with a strikeout and Gabriel Ynoa pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out one.

Frazier hit a double and Gregorius and Castro each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gregorius committed an error. 

Tim Beckham had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Manny Machado had a hit and drew two walks and Trey Mancini had a hit.  Mark Trumbo had a hit, Chris Davis had a hit and two RBI and Welington Castillo had a hit and an RBI.  Beckham, Davis and Castillo each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Beckham hit a solo homerun giving the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the second Davis hit a two-run homerun to increase the lead to 3­-0.  In the fourth Gregorius hit a two-run homerun to trim the lead to 3-2.  Ellsbury hit an RBI single to tie the game at three.  In the fifth Castro hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 5-3 lead.  In the sixth Gardner hit an RBI ground out to increase the lead to 6-3.  Castro hit an RBI single and it was 7-3 Yankees.  In the ninth Castillo hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-4 but that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.
