The New York Mets blow out the Philadelphia Phillies to take series



The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 11-2.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and pitched well and the bullpen was good.  Daniel Murphy, Juan Lagares and Ruben Tejada each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up two runs on seven hits.  He walked two and struck out four to win his sixth game of the season.  Dana Eveland walked the only batter that he faced, Jeurys Familia pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out one and Carlos Torres pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks. 

Kyle Kendrick pitched six innings giving up seven hits and four runs.  He walked two and struck out four and lost his 11th game of the season.  Mario Hollands pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk, Justin De Fratus pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two unearned runs with two strikeouts and Phillippe Aumont pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.

Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew a walk, Murphy had three hits, three RBI and David Wright drew a walk.  Lucas Duda had two hits and three RBI, Travis d'Arnaud had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Chris Young had a hit and an RBI.  Lagares had three hits, Tejada had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Familia had a hit and an RBI.  Granderson and d'Arnaud each hit a double.  Murphy and Duda each hit a homerun and the Mets were 5-13 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Lagares had a stolen base, d'Arnaud had a passed ball. 

Ben Revere had two hits, Grady Sizemore had a hit and Chase Utley drew two walks.  Reid Brignac drew a walk, Ryan Howard had a hit and an RBI and Cody Asche had a hit.  Nieves had a hit, Blanco had a hit and drew a walk and Jimmy Rollins had a hit and an RBI.  Dominic Brown drew a walk, Revere and Howard each hit a double and Rollins hit a homerun.  The Phillies were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Revere and Utley each had a stolen base.  De Fratus committed an error. 

In the fifth Howard hit an RBI double to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.  The Mets came back in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-1 lead.  A wild pitch and a Murphy three run homerun were their runs.  Jimmy Rollins hit a solo homerun in the seventh to make it a 4-2 game.  In the bottom of the inning Duda hit an RBI single, d'Arnaud hit an RBI double, Young reached on an error to score a run, Tejada had an RBI single and Familia had an RBI single.  The Mets took a 9-2 lead and then added two more in the eighth on a Duda two run homer.  The final score was 11-2 and the Mets took the series two out of three.  The Mets will have an off day on Thursday before beginning a four game wrap around series with the San Francisco Giants at home on Friday night.

The New York Yankees offense is completely shutdown in loss at Texas Rangers



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 3-2.  Hiroki Kuroda started and after a bad first inning pitched very well.  The Yankees offense was two solo homeruns early and then the final 19 men to come to bat were retired. 

Kuroda pitched seven innings giving up three runs on nine hits.  He walked one and struck out four and suffered his seventh loss of the season.  David Huff pitched an inning walking two. 

Colby Lewis pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Neal Cotts pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Neftali Feliz pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout to pick up his third save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and an RBI and Mark Teixeira drew a walk.  Carlos Beltran had two hits, Chase Headley drew a walk and Gardner and Ellsbury each hit a solo homerun.  The Yankees were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Shin-Soo Choo had a hit, Elvis Andrus had a hit and an RBI and Adrian Beltre had two hits and an RBI.  Jim Adduci had two hits, J.P. Arencibia had a hit and drew a walk and Leonys Martin had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Chirinos had a hit and drew a walk, Andrus hit a double and the Rangers were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Martin had a stolen base. 

Gardner hit a solo homerun to lead off the game and give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Andrus hit an RBI double, Beltre hit an RBI single and Martin hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first to give the Rangers a 3-1 lead.  Ellsbury hit a solo homerun in the third to cut the lead to 3-2 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees lost two of three in the series and now have an off day on Thursday.  They will begin a three game set with the Boston Red Sox in Boston on Friday night.

The New York Mets blow out the Philadelphia Phillies



The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-1 Mets.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched well and the bullpen was good.  Daniel Murphy, Travis d'Arnaud and Juan Lagares led the Mets offense. 

Colon pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up ten hits and one run with a walk and six strikeouts.  He earned his 10th win of the season.  Josh Edgin faced one batter and retired him, Dana Eveland pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and Vic Black pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out one. 

A.J. Burnett lost his 10th game of the season pitching five innings and giving up eight hits and seven runs.  He walked two and struck out four.  Mario Hollands pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout and Phillippe Aumont pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk.

Ben Revere had two hits, Jimmy Rollins drew a walk and Marlon Byrd had four hits.  Dominic Brown had a hit, Carlos Ruiz had four hits and an RBI and Blanco had two hits.  Brown and Ruiz each hit a double and the Phillies were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Howard committed an error. 

In the first Murphy hit an RBI double, Duda hit an RBI single and Lagares hit a two run double to give the Mets a 4-0 lead.  In the fifth d'Arnaud hit a three run homerun to give the Mets a 7-0 lead.  Ruiz hit an RBI double in the eighth to make it 7-1 which was the final score.  The two teams will play game two of their three game series on Tuesday night. 

The New York Yankees lose to the Texas Rangers as the offense falters again



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Monday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 4-2.  David Phelps started for the Yankees and he had one bad inning.  The Yankees offense was led by two Brett Gardner homeruns and three hits by Derek Jeter.

Phelps pitched six innings giving up eight hits and four runs with one walk and three strikeouts.  Phelps lost his fifth game of the season.  Shawn Kelley pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out two and Matt Thornton pitched 1/3 of an inning picking up a strikeout. 

Yu Darvish won his 10th game of the season by pitching seven innings and giving up nine hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out eight.  Neal Cotts pitched an inning and gave up two hits and Neftali Feliz pitched a perfect inning to pick up his second save of the season. 

Gardner had three hits and two RBI, Jeter had three hits and drew a walk and Carlos Beltran had two hits.  Chase Headley had a hit, Francisco Cervelli had a hit and Mark Teixeira had a pinch hit.  Jeter hit a double and Gardner hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Jeter had a stolen base and McCann committed an error. 

Shin-Soo Choo had a hit, Elvis Andrus had a hit and an RBI and Alex Rios had two hits.  Adrian Beltre had a hit and an RBI, Jim Adduci drew a walk and J.P. Arencibia had a hit and two RBI.  Chris Gimenez had a hit and drew a walk and Rougned Odor had a hit.  Choo and Beltre each hit a double and the Rangers were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.   

The Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the third on a Gardner solo homerun.  In the fifth they took a 2-0 lead on a Gardner solo homerun.  The Rangers scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Andrus hit an RBI single, Beltre hit an RBI single and Arencibia hit a two run single.  The final score was 4-2 Texas. 

The two teams will play game two of their three game series on Tuesday night.

The New York Yankees lose second straight to the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Shane Greene started and was ok, the bullpen wasn't great.  The Yankees offense had seven hits but no one had more than one. 

Greene pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out two.  David Huff pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits, Dellin Betances pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up an unearned run, two walks and he struck out one and Adam Warren struck out the only batter that he faced.  David Robertson lost his third game of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and a run.  He walked none and struck out none. 

J.A. Happ pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Brett Cecil pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out one, Aaron Sanchez pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run.  Sanchez won his first game of the season, Casey Janssen pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his 16th save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Derek Jeter had a hit and Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk.  Carlos Beltran had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Brian McCann had a hit and an RBI and Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI.  Francisco Cervelli had a hit and an RBI, Zelous Wheeler had a hit and Headley and Cervelli each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Betances committed an error, Wheeler had an outfield assist. 

Jose Reyes had two hits, Melky Cabrera had two hits and Jose Bautista had an RBI and drew a walk.  Dioner Navarro had a hit and an RBI, Dan Johnson had a hit and drew a walk and Colby Rasmus had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks.  Munenori Kawasaki had two hits and an RBI, Juan Francisco had a hit and an RBI and Anthony Gose had a hit.  Tolleson had a hit, Cabrera and Rasmus each hit a double.  Francisco hit a homerun and the Blue Jays were 2-13 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gose and Bautista each had a stolen base. 

In the first Bautista had an RBI groundout to give the Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Francisco hit a solo homerun to give the Jays a 2-0 lead.  The Yankees came back in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game on back-to-back homeruns.  Headley and Cervelli hit the homeruns.  Rasmus hit an RBI double in the sixth to give the Jays back the lead at 3-2.  McCann hit an RBI single in the sixth to even the score at three.  Kawasaki hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth to give the Jays a 4-3 lead.  Beltran hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at four.  In the ninth Navarro hit an RBI single to give the Jays a 5-4 lead which would be the final score.  The Blue Jays after losing 17 straight at Yankee Stadium took the final two games of the series.  The Yankees finished their homestand 7-3 and will head to Texas to begin a three game series on Monday night.
