New York Mets blow lead and lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-4.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen wasn’t very good.  Rene Rivera had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Paul Sewald lost his fourth game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Fernando Salas pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs. 

Rich Hill pitched five innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Brandon Morrow pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and he won his fourth game of the season, Pedro Baez pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Tony Watson pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Ross Stripling pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a walk and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Curtis Granderson had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Neil Walker had a hit and R. Rivera had two hits and an RBI.  Conforto, Flores, Granderson and R. Rivera each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Granderson had a stolen base and was caught stealing.  R. Rivera had a passed ball and Granderson had an outfield assist. 

Chris Taylor had a hit and an RBI, Corey Seager had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Justin Turner had two hits and an RBI.  Cody Bellinger had a hit and two RBI, Logan Forsythe drew two walks and Yasmani Grandal had a hit.  Yasiel Puig had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Kyle Farmer had a hit and Grandal hit a double and Taylor, Bellinger, Puig, Turner and Seager each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Seager committed an error and Hill had a pickoff. 

In the first Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Flores hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  Granderson hit a solo homerun and the lead was extended to 3-0.  In the sixth Taylor hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  Bellinger hit a two-run homerun and the game was tied at three.  In the seventh Puig hit a solo homerun to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Turner hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-3.  In the ninth Seager hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 7-3.  In the bottom of the ninth R. Rivera hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-4 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.   

New York Mets are shutout by the Los Angeles Dodgers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-0.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Michael Conforto had two hits and the offense only managed four hits. 

deGrom pitched five innings and gave up five hits and three runs with three walks and eight strikeouts and lost his fifth game of the season.  Josh Smoker pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk, Chasen Bradford pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and three strikeouts and Erik Goeddel pitched a perfect inning. 

Yu Darvish pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out ten and won his seventh game of the season.  Josh Fields pitched an inning giving up a hit and Luis Avilan pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Conforto had two hits, Jay Bruce drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit, deGrom had a hit and the Mets were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  deGrom had a stolen base and Rosario had a stolen base. 

Chris Taylor had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Corey Seager had three hits and drew a walk and Justin Turner had an RBI.  Joc Pederson drew two walks, Yasmani Grandal drew a walk and Chase Utley had a hit and two RBI.  Yasiel Puig had a hit and an RBI, Seager hit two doubles and Taylor, Puig and Utley each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Pederson had a stolen base. 

In the first Taylor hit a solo homerun to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.  In the second Puig hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Turner hit into a double play and a run scored to make it 3-0.  In the sixth Utley hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-0.  In the seventh Turner hit a sac fly making it 6-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.   

New York Yankees bullpen holds on to one in Cleveland


The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians on Saturday night.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 2-1.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched very well and the bullpen was also very good.  The offense didn’t do much but Chase Headley had a big homerun. 

Montgomery pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run with no walks and seven strikeouts.  David Robertson won his fifth game of the season pitching two innings and he gave up two hits with two strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman saved his 14th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Danny Salazar pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and 12 strikeouts.  Zach McAllister pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and he lost his first game of the season, Tyler Olson retired the only batter that he faced and Nick Goody pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew two walks, Headley had a hit and an RBI and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Didi Gregorius had two hits and an RBI, Gary Sanchez drew a walk and Todd Frazier drew a walk.  Gregorius hit two doubles and Headley hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Francisco Lindor had two hits, Michael Brantley had two hits and Carlos Santana had a hit and an RBI.  Giovanny Urshela had a hit, Lindor hit a double and Santana hit a homerun.  The Indians were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Gregorius hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Santana hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Headley hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees the 2-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees will be looking for the four game split and the Indians to take three out of four.   

New York Yankees lose to the Cleveland Indians


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Cleveland Indians on Friday night.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 7-2.  Jaime Garcia started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well in his Yankees debut.  The Yankees had five batters with two hits. 

Garcia lost his eighth game of the season pitching 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and six runs with five being earned.  He walked four and struck out four.  Chad Green pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out five and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Trevor Bauer pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and a run.  He walked two and struck out seven and won his 10th game of the season.  Joe Smith pitched to two batters and struck them both out, Tyler Olson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Bryan Shaw pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run.

Frazier hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Judge committed an error and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Francisco Lindor drew a walk, Brandon Guyer had a hit and drew a walk and Michael Brantley had two hits and an RBI.  Jose Ramirez had a hit, Edwin Encarnacion had a hit and two RBI and Carlos Santana drew a walk.  Austin Jackson had a hit and an RBI, Roberto Perez drew a walk and Giovanny Urshela had two hits.  The Indians were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Guyer had a stolen base. 

In the second Jackson hit an RBI double to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.  A passed ball pushed the lead to 2-0.  In the third Brantley hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0 and Encarnacion hit a sac fly to make it 4-0.  In the fifth T. Frazier hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the fifth Brantley hit an RBI single to increase the lead to 5-1.  A wild pitch made it 6-1 and in the eighth Encarnacion hti an RBI double to push the lead to 7-1.  Gardner hit an RBI single in the ninth to cut the lead to 7-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday night.  The Indians have taken the first two of the series.

New York Mets lose on a walk-off again in Colorado


The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 5-4.  Rafael Montero started for the Mets and was just ok.  The Mets bullpen pitched well for the most part and the offense was led by Asdrubal Cabrera who had three hits. 

Montero pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up ten hits and four runs with a walk and six strikeouts.   Josh Smoker pitched to two batters and retired them both, one by strikeout.  Erik Goeddel pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits, Jerry Blevins retired the only batter that he faced and Hansel Robles lost his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up a run and three walks with a strikeout. 

German Marquez pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Pat Neshek pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Mike Dunn pitched to one batter and retired him.  Greg Holland won his second game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Michael Conforto had ah it, Cabrera had three hits and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and an RBI.  Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew two walks, Jose Reyes drew a walk and Amed Rosario had a hit.  Rene Rivera had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Montero had a hit and an RBI and Cabrera hit a double and Rosario hit a triple.  Cespedes hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Reyes was caught stealing and Cespedes had an outfield assist. 

Charlie Blackmon had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, D.J. LeMahieu had three hits, an RBI and drew two walks and Nolan Arenado had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gerardo Parra had a hit and an RBI, Mark Reynolds had a hit and an RBI and Jonathan Lucroy had two hits.  Blackmon, LeMahieu and Arenado each hit a double and Blackmon and Reynolds each hit a homerun.  The Rockies were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the third LeMahieu hit an RBI single, Parra hit an RBI single and it was 2-0 Rockies.  In the fourth Cespedes hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Montero hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Blackmon hit a solo homerun in the fifth to give the Rockies a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Rivera hit an RBI single to tie the game at three.  Reynolds hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth to give the Rockies back the lead at 4-3.  In the seventh Cabrera hit an RBI double to tie the game at four and in the ninth Arenado drew an RBI walk to walk-off the game and give the Rockies a 5-4 victory. 

The Mets will return home to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night. 

New York Yankees are silenced by the Cleveland Indians in Sonny Gray debut


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Cleveland Indians on Friday night.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 5-1.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees making his debut with the club and pitched well.  The Yankees defense was very spotty especially in the beginning of the game.  The offense didn’t do much other than Gary Sanchez hitting a homerun. 

Gray pitched six innings giving up four hits and four runs with only two of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out six and lost his sixth game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Corey Kluber pitched a complete game giving up three hits and a run.  He walked one and struck out 11 and earned his ninth win of the season. 

Clint Frazier had a hit, Sanchez had a hit and an RBI and Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk.  Ronald Torreyes had a hit, C. Frazier hit a double and Sanchez hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Headley, Wade and C. Frazier each committed an error.

IN the first Ramriez hit a two-run single to give the Indians a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Gomes hit a two-run double to extend the lead to 4-0.  In the seventh Sanchez hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1 and in the bottom of the seventh Lindor hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-1 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.

New York Mets double up the Colorado Rockies


The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 10-5.  Chris Flexen started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well, the Mets bullpen pitched very well.  Asdrubal Cabrera had three hits to lead the offense. 

Flexen pitched three innings giving up eight hits and five runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Chasen Bradford won his first game of the season pithcing two perfect innings with a couple of strikeouts, Fernando Salas pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out two and Paul Sewald pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two.  AJ Ramos pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Tyler Chatwood pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and eight runs with seven of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out two and lost his 12th game of the season.  Scott Oberg pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and two runs with two strikeouts and Antonio Senzatela pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out four.

LeMahieu had two hits, Nolan Arenado had a hit and Mark Reynolds had two hits and an RBI.  Gerardo Parra had two hits and two RBI, Trevor Story had a hit and Carlos Gonzalez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Ryan Hanigan had two hits, LeMahieu and Reynolds each hit a double and Parra hit two doubles.  Gonzalez hit a homerun and the Rockies were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Reynolds committed an error. 

In the third Reynolds hit an RBI single to give the Rockies a 1-0 lead.  Parra hit a two-run double to extend the lead to 3-0.  Gonzalez hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-0.  In the fourth Cespedes grounded into a double play and a run scored to cut the lead to 5-1.  Bruce hit a solo homerun and it was 5-2.  In the fifth Rosario hit an RBI triple, d’Arnaud hit an RBI ground out and the lead was cut to 5-4.  In the sixth Cespedes hit an RBI double, Granderson hit a three-run homerun, Conforto hit an RBI single and Cabrera hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 10-5 lead.  The final score would be 10-5.  

The two teams will play their third and final game of the series on Thursday afternoon.   

New York Yankees are shutout by the Detroit Tigers in rubber game of series


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday afternoon/evening.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-0.  The game had two rain delays and didn’t end until night time.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The offense was led by Jacoby Ellsbury having two hits but they didn’t do much. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out seven and lost his 10th game of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning and Dellin Betances pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out four. 

Jordan Zimmermann pitched seven innings giving up six hits and no runs with six strikeouts and he won his seventh game of the season.  Bruce Rondon pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Shane Greene pitched an inning with two strikeouts and earned his second save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Ellsbury had two hits and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Chase Headley had a hit.  Headley and Sanchez hit a double and the Yankees were 0-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base and Ellsbury committed an error. 

Ian Kinsler had a hit, Jim Adduci had two hits and Justin Upton had a hit and an RBI.  Victor Martinez had a hit, Mikie Mahtook drew two walks and James McCann had a hit.  Upton, Adduci and Martinez each hit a double and the Tigers were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Mahtook had a stolen base. 

In the first Upton hit an RBI double to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth McCann hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  The final score would be 2-0 and the Tigers took two out of three in the series. 

The Yankees will head to Cleveland to begin a four game series on Thursday night.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 5-4.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  The Mets offense was led by Yoenis Cespedes, Jay Bruce and Michael Conforto who each had two hits. 

Matz pitched five innings giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Josh Smoker pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout, Erik Goeddel pitched to one batter and struck him out and Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and Hansel Robles pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his second game of the season. 

Jeff Hoffman pitched six innings giving up five hits and two runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Pat Neshek pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with two strikeouts, Chris Rusin pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Scott Oberg pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit.  Mike Dunn pitched an inning with a strikeout and earned his third win of the season.

New York Yankees lose a close one to the Detroit Tigers


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-3.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched ok.  The Yankees bullpen pitched well and the offense was led by Gary Sanchez, Didi Gregorius and Matt Holliday who each had two hits. 

Sabathia pitched six innings giving up six hits and four runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Sabathia lost his fourth game of the season.  Adam Warren pitched two innings giving up a walk and a strikeout and David Robertson pitched an inning giving up three hits and no runs with two strikeouts. 

Anibel Sanchez won his third game of the season pitching 6 2/3 innings and giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Bruce Rondon pitched to one batter and retired him, Alex Wilson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run and Daniel Stumpf gave up a hit to the only batter that he faced.  Shane Greene saved his first game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up two walks and he struck out one. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Sanchez had two hits and Gregorius had two hits and three RBI.  Holliday had two hits, T. Frazier drew a walk and Tyler Wade had a hit.  Jacoby Ellsbury drew a pinch-hit walk, Wade, Sanchez and Holliday each hit a double and Gregorius hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Gardner had two stolen bases and Gardner had an outfield assist. 

Ian Kinsler had a hit, Mikie Mahtook drew a walk and Justin Upton had a hit and an RBI.  Miguel Cabrera had a hit, Nick Castellanos had a hit and James McCann had two hits.  John Hicks had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk, Dixon Machado had a hit and Andrew Romine had a hit.  Castellanos hit a double and Hicks and Upton each hit a homerun.  The Tigers were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Upton and Greene each committed an error. 

In the second Hicks hit a three-run homerun to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.  In the third Upton hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  In the fourth Gregorius hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-2 and in the eighth Gregorius hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3.  The final score was 4-3 and the rubber game of the three game series will be played on Wednesday afternoon. 

New York Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers


The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-3.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he battled and the bullpen was good.  Chase Headley had three hits to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and eight strikeouts.  Severino picked up his eighth win of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Jonathan Holder pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with three strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman saved his 13th game of the season pitching to two batters and retiring them both, one by strikeout. 

Michael Fulmer lost his ninth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up seven hits and seven runs with six of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out five.  Alex Wilson pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Warwick Saupold pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Clint Frazier had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Gary Sanchez had an RBI.  Matt Holliday drew a walk, Headley had three hits and two RBI and T. Frazier had a hit and two RBI.  Tyler Wade had a hit, Headley hit a double and C. Frazier hit a triple.  Judge hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base and C. Frazier and Torreyes each committed an error.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Ian Kinsler had a hit, Jim Adduci had a hit and an RBI and Justin Upton had a hit.  Miguel Cabrera had a hit and drew two walks, Nick Castellanos had two hits and drew two walks and Mikie Mahtook had a hit and an RBI.  James McCann had two hits and an RBI, McCann hit a double and the Tigers were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on base.  Kinsler committed an error. 

In the fourth McCann hit an RBI double to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Headley hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  T. Frazier hit a two-run single and it was 4-1 Yankees.  In the fifth Judge hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 5-1.  In the sixth Adduci hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-2.  In the seventh C. Frazier hit an RBI triple to push the lead to 6-2 and Sanchez hit a sac fly to make it a 7-2 game.  In the ninth Mahtook hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 7-3 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees fail to sweep the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-3.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well, the bullpen was pretty good.  Ronald Torreyes led the offense with a couple of hits and three RBI. 

Montgomery pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Montgomery lost his sixth game of the season.  Luis Cessa pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up a hit and four walks with four strikeouts, Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Chad Green pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up wo hits and a run with a walk and six strikeouts. 

Jacob Faria pitched four innings giving up three hits and three runs with five walks and eight strikeouts.   Sergio Romo pitched to two batters and retired them both.  Dan Jennings pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk, Steve Cishek won his second game of the season pitching 1 2/3 perfect innings with a strikeout and Tommy Hunter pitched a perfect inning.  Alex Colome pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and he earned his 30th save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Clint Frazier had a hit and drew two walks and Aaron Judge drew a walk.  Chase Headley drew a walk, Todd Frazier drew two walks and Ronald Torreyes had two hits and three RBI.  Torreyes hti a double and a homerun and the Yankees were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  C. Frazier had a stolen base and Sanchez had a passed ball.  Gardner had an outfield assist. 

Peter Bourjos had a hit, Steven Souza Jr. had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Evan Longoria had two hits and drew a walk.  Lucas Duda had a hit and drew two walks, Trevor Plouffe had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Corey ickerson had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and an RBI, Tim Beckham drew a walk and Mallex Smith had a hit.  Bourjos and Souza Jr. each hit a double and the Rays were 5-15 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Smith and Souza Jr. each had a stolen base.  Ramos and Hechavarria each committed an error. 

In the first Plouffe hit an RBI single to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the second Torreyes hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the third Dickerson hit a two-run single to give the Rays a 3-2 lead.  Ramos hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the fourth Torreyes hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 4-3.  In the eighth Souza Jr. hit an RBI double to give the Rays a 5-3 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees took three of four in the series and will begin a three game set with the Detroit Tigers on Monday night.

New York Mets were defeated by the Seattle Mariners


The New York Mets were defeated by the Seattle Mariners on Saturday evening.  The game took place at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 3-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen was good again.  Yoenis Cespedes, Wilmer Flores and Travis d’Arnaud each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out ten and lost his fourth game of the season.  Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one, Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two and Erik Goeddel pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

Yovani Gallardo pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with two walks and two strikeouts.  Gallardo won his fifth game of the season.  Tony Zych pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and walking two, Marc Rzepczynski pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out one and Nick Vincent pitched a perfect inning.  Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Diaz saved his 19th game of the season. 

Michael Conforto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Cespedes had two hits and Neil Walker had a hit.  Curtis Granderson drew three walks, Flores had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and d’Arnaud had two hits.  Flores hit a double and the Mets were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Walker committed an error and Conforto had an outfield assist. 

Jean Segura had a hit, Ben Gamel had a hit and Nelson Cruz had a hit and an RBI.  Kyle Seager had two hits and drew a walk, Danny Valencia had a hit and Guillermo Heredia had a hit.  Jarrod Dyson had two hits and two RBI, Seager hit a double and the Mariners were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Dyson had a stolen base and Seager was caught stealing. 

In the second Dyson hit a two-run single to give the Mariners a 2-0 lead.  In the third Cruz hit a sac fly to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the sixth Flores drew an RBI walk and in the ninth Conforto hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 3-2 but that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.

New York Yankees win their sixth straight with victory over the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Caleb Smith started for the Yankees and didn’t pitch that bad but didn’t last very long.  The Yankees bullpen was pretty good and Gary Sanchez, Matt Holliday and Ronald Torreyes led the offense with a couple of hits each. 

Smith pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Adam Warren pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Dellin Betances pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two.  David Robertson pitched an inning giving up two this and a run with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a strikeout and he picked up his fourth win of the season. 

Blake Snell pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Sergio Romo pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Steve Cishek pitched an inning striking out the side and Tommy Hunter pitched a perfect inning.  Brad Boxberger pitched giving up a hit and a run with a walk and took his third loss of the season and Dan Jennings pitched giving to one batter and gave up a hit. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Sanchez had two hits and an RBI.  Holliday had two hits, Didi Gregorius had an RBI and Garrett Cooper had a hit and drew a walk.  Chase Headley had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Torreyes had two hits and Sanchez and Torreyes each hit a double and Sanchez and Headley each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base and Sanchez and Gregorius each committed an error. 

Peter Bourjos had a hit and an RBI, Logan Morrison had a hit and Steven Souza Jr. had two hits and an RBI.  Evan Longoria drew a walk, Lucas Duda had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Corey Dickerson had a hit.  Mallex Smith had a hit, Bourjos and Souza Jr. each hit a homerun and the Rays were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Souza Jr. had a stolen base and Beckham was caught stealing. 

In the first Bourjos hit a solo homerun giving the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the second Gregorius hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  In the third Duda hit a sac fly to give the Rays a 2-1 lead.  In the fourth Sanchez hit a solo homerun that tied the game at two.  In the fifth Souza Jr. hit a solo homerun giving the Rays a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Headley hit a two-run homerun and the Yankees took a 4-3 lead. In the eighth Duda hit a solo homerun to tie the game at four.  In the ninth Gardner hit an RBI walk-off single to give the Yankees a 5-4 victory. 

The two teams will play game four of four on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees have taken the first three and will look to sweep the Rays before beginning a three game set with the Detroit Tigers at home on Monday. 

New York Mets defeat the Seattle Mariners


The New York Mets defeated the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.  The game took place at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 7-5.  Rafael Montero started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The Mets bullpen did a good job and Asdrubal Cabrera had three hits to lead the offense. 

Montero pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up three hits and five runs with five walks and five strikeouts.  Josh Edgin pitched giving up a hit, Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Jerry Blevins won his fifth game of the season pitching 1 1/3 perfect innings with a strikeout.  Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Addison Reed saved his 19th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Ariel Miranda pitched six innings giving up five hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out ten.  Nick Vincent pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Marc Rzepczynski pitched giving up a hit and a run and David Phelps lost his fifth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up four hits and two runs with a strikeout.  Casey Lawrence pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Michael Conforto had two hits and two RBI, Cabrera had three hits and Jay Bruce had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Wilmer Flores had an RBI, Neil Walker had a hit and an RBI and Curtis Granderson had a hit and an RBI.  Jose Reyes had a hit, Reyes hit a double and Bruce hit a homerun.  Conforto hit two homeruns and the Mets were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Jean Segura had a hit and drew a walk, Ben Gamel had a hit and Robinson Cano had an RBI.  Nelson Cruz drew two walks, Kyle Seager had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Danny Valencia had a hit.  Mitch Haniger had a hit, Jarrod Dyson had a hit and Mike Zunino had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Haniger hit a double, Zunino hit a homerun and the Mariners were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Zunino and Valencia each committed an error. 

In the first Bruce hit a two-run homerun giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the third Conforto hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.  Flores hit a sac fly to push the lead to 4-0.  In the third Zunino hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the fifth a wild pitch made it 4-2 and Cano hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-3.  Seager hit a two-run single and it was 5-4 Seattle still in the fifth inning.  In the eighth Conforto hit a solo homerun to tie the game at five.  Walker hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 6-5 lead and Granderson hit an RBI single to push that lead to 7-5 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.
