New York Mets win their eighth game in a row



The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-5.  Jacob deGrom  pitched well and the bullpen  was ok.  Michael Conforto had three hits and three RBI to lead the offense. 

deGrom started for the Mets and pitched six innings giving up two hits and three runs with none of them being earned.  He walked four guys and struck out five.  Jim Henderson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts, Addison Reed pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and a strikeout and Hansel Robles pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit.  Jerry Blevins faced one batter and retired him and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and he saved his eighth game of the season. 

Matt Cain lost his third game of the season pitching six innings and giving up seven hits and six runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Josh Osich pitched a perfect inning and Hunter Strickland pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit,Conforto had three hits and three RBI and Lucas Duda had two hits and drew a walk.  Neil Walker had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI and Conforto hit a double and a homerun.  Flores also hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Flores committed an error and Granderson had an outfield assist. 

Denard Span had a hit and drew a walk, Angel Pagan had a hit and Matt Duffy drew a walk.  Buster Posey had a hit and drew a walk, Brandon Belt had an RBI and drew three walks and Hunter Pence had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Brandon Crawford had an RBI, Kelby Tomlinson had a hit and Conor Gillaspie had a hit.  Gillaspie hit a double and the Giants were 1-5 with seven runners left on base. 

In the first Walker hit a two run single to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  IN the second Conforto hit a two run double to make it 4-0 Mets.  In the third Belt had an RBI walk to cut the lead to 4-1.  Pence hit a two run single and it was 4-3 still in the third.  In the fifth Conforto hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 5-3.  In the sixth Flores hit a solo homerun making it 6-3 Mets.  In the eighth Pence hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 6-4 and Crawford hit a sac fly to cut it to 6-5 but that would be the final score. 

The Mets have taken the first two of this series and won eight in a row.  They will go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon.

New York Mets train keeps rolling with a rout of the San Francisco Giants



The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 13-1.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and pitched well, Michael Conforto had two hits and two RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had two hits and six RBI. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up seven hits and no runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Matz won his third game of the season.  Jerry Blevins pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Logan Verrett pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one and Antonio Bastardo pitched an inning with two walks and a strikeout. 

Jake Peavy started for the Giants and lost his second game of the season.  He pitched two innings giving up four hits and six runs with five walks and three strikeouts.  Mike Broadway pitched three innings giving up five hits and six runs with a walk and a strikeout, Steven Okert pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts and Javier Lopez pitched an inning striking out one. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, David Wright had a hit and drew two walks and Conforto had two hits, two RBI.  Cespedes had two hits and six RBI, Lucas Duda drew two walks and Neil Walker had two hits and an RBI.  Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and two RBI, Kevin Plawecki had a hit and drew a walk and Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI.  Conforto, Walker and Cabrera each hit a double.  Cespedes hit a homerun and the Mets were 9-16 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Wright committed an error. 

Denard Span had a hit and drew two walks, Joe Panik had a hit and Matt Duffy had a hit.  Buster Posey had a hit, Trevor Brown drew a walk and Hunter Pence drew a walk.  Brandon Belt had a hit and drew a walk, Brandon Crawford had two hits and Gregor Blanco had a hit.  Kelby Tomlinson drew a walk, Angel Pagan had a hit and an RBI and Blanco hit a double.  Pagan hit a homerun and the Giants were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base.  Belt was caught stealing. 

In the third Conforto hit an RBI double, Cespedes hit a two run single, Walker hit an RBI double, Cabrera hit a two run double and Granderson hit an RBI single to make it 7-0.  Conforto hit an RBI single still in the third inning and Cespedes hit a grand slam to make it 12-0 Mets.  In the seventh Pagan hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 12-1 and in the bottom of the seventh Lagares hit an RBI single making it 13-1 which would be the final score of the game. 

The New York Mets have won seven games in a row now.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.   

New York Yankees lose another close one as they continue to not hit



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 4-2.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched well, Dellin Betances gave up a big homerun.  The Yankees offense didn't do much, Starlin Castro and Brett Gardner each had two hits. 

Tanaka pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout and he took his second loss of the season. 

Henry Owens started for the Red Sox and he pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Matt Barnes pitched a perfect inning, Koji Uehara won his first game pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout and Craig Kimbrel saved his seventh game pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew two walks, Gardner had two hits and an RBI and Mark Teixeira drew a walk.  Alex Rodriguez had a hit and an RBI, Castro had two hits including a triple and Rodriguez hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Ellsbury was caught stealing and Headley committed an error. 

Xander Bogaerts had two hits, David Ortiz had two hits and two RBI and Hanley Ramirez had a hit.  Travis Shaw had a hit, Brock Holt had a hit and Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and two RBI.  Bradley Jr. hit a double and Ortiz hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Holt had an outfield assist. 

In the second Rodriguez hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Gardner hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Yankees.  In the seventh Bradley Jr. hit an RBI double and the game was tied at two.  In the eighth Ortiz hit a two run homerun to give the Red Sox a 4-2 lead and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night. 

The New York Mets sweep the Cincinnati Reds



The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen was very good.   Neil Walker had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense. 

Harvey won his second game of the season pitching six innings and giving up seven hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Jim Henderson pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his first save of the season. 

Jon Moscot took his second loss of the season for the Reds.  He pitched five innings and gave up four hits and three runs with only one of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out two.  Blake Wood pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two runs and two walks, Drew Hayes pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and Ross Ohlendorf pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Alejandro De Aza had a hit and drew two walks, David Wright drew a walk and Michael Conforto had a hit and two RBI.  Walker had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Juan Lagares had a hit and Kevin Plawecki drew a walk.  Eric Campbell drew a walk, Conforto hit a double and Walker hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  De Aza had a stolen base, Duda and Walker each committed an error. 

Zack Cozart had two hits and an RBI, Ivan De Jesus Jr. had a hit and Joey Votto had two hits.  Eugenio Suarez had a hit and an RBI, Scott Schebler drew a walk and Billy Hamilton had a hit.  Cozart hit a homerun and the Reds were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  De Jesus Jr. was caught stealing and Schebler, Cozart and Mesoraco each committed an error. 

In the first Cozart hit a solo homerun giving the Reds a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Duda reached on a fielding error and a run scored to tie the game at one.  Walker hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the third Walker hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Suarez hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 3-2.  In the sixth Conforto hit a two run double and it was 5-2 Mets which would be the final score. 

The Mets swept the three game series from the Reds and have won six games in a row.  They will have the day off on Thursday before welcoming in the San Francisco Giants for a three game weekend series.

New York Mets win second in a row over the Cincinnati Reds and five in a row overall



The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched ok, the bullpen was good.  Curtis Granderson and Michael Conforto each had two hits. 

Colon pitched five innings giving up eight hits and three runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Logan Verrett pitched two innings giving up two hits and two walks with a strikeout and he won his third game of the season, Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Jeurys Familia saved his seventh game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brandon Finnegan pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Tony Cingrani pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, he lost his second game of the season and Caleb Cotham pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Granderson had two hits and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk and David Wright had a hit and an RBI.  Conforto had two hits, Wilmer Flores drew a walk and Juan Lagares drew a walk.  Kevin Plawecki had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and three RBI and Conforto hit a double.  Granderson hit a triple and Cespedes hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Granderson was caught stealing and so was Wright.  Flores committed an error and Colon had a pickoff. 

Zack Cozart had two hits, Tyler Holt had two hits and Joey Votto had an RBI and drew two walks.  Adam Duvall had two hits, Tucker Barnhart had two hits and Ivan De Jesus Jr. had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Billy Hamilton had a hit, Barnhart, Duvall and Cozart each hit a double.  De Jesus Jr. hit a homerun and the Reds were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Duvall and Holt were each caught stealing.  Finnegan and Cingrani each had a pickoff. 

In the third Votto hit a sac fly to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.  IN the fourth De Jesus hit a two run homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.  Cespedes hit a pinch hit three run homerun in the seventh to tie the game at three.  Wright hit an RBI single in the seventh to make it 4-3 and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Wednesday night.  The Mets will be looking for the three game sweep and a six game winning streak.   

New York Yankees lose second in a row in Texas



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 3-2.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and pitched pretty well.  Alex Rodriguez led the offense with three hits and Starlin Castro had two. 

Sabathia pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  He lost his second game of the season.  Johnny Barbato pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out one and Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Martin Perez won his first game of the season pitching six innings and giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Jake Diekman pitched two innings striking out one and Shawn Tolleson saved his seventh game of the season pitching one inning and giving up a hit. 

Carlos Beltran had a hit, Mark Teixeira drew a walk and Rodriguez had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Brian McCann had a hit, Castro had two hits and an RBI and Rodriguez hit a double and a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Nomar Mazara drew a walk, Adrian Beltre had a hit and an RBI and Ian Desmond had a hit.  Ryan Rua had a hit, Roghned Odor had a hit and drew a walk and Elvis Andrus had a hit and an RBI.  Hanser Alberto had an RBI and Bryan Holaday drew a walk.  Andrus hit a triple and the Rangers were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Castro hit an RBI single in the second to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Alberto hit into a double play and the game was tied at one.  In the third Beltre hit an RBI single to make it 2-1 Rangers.  Rodriguez hit a solo homerun in the fourth to tie the game at two.  In the sixth Andrus hit an RBI triple to make it 3-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Rangers won two out of three in the series and the Yankees will be off on Thursday.  They will head to Boston to take on the Red Sox in a three game weekend series.   

New York Yankees are blown out in Texas



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 10-1.  Luis Severino started and did not pitch well at all.  Mark Teixeira and Ronald Torreyes each had two hits to lead the offense which didn't do much. 

Severino pitched three innings giving up seven hits and six runs with two walks and a strikeout.  He lost his third game of the season.  Ivan Nova pitched four innings giving up five hits and three runs with no walks or strikeouts and Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

A.J. Griffin pitched eight innings for Texas and picked up his third win of the season.  He gave up four hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Tony Barnette pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk, Carlos Beltran had a hit and Teixeira had two hits and an RBI.  Torreyes had two hits and the Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Roghned Odor had a hit and an RBI, Nomar Mazara had two hits and Adrian Beltre had a hit.  Prince Fielder had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Ian Desmond had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Mitch Moreland had two hits and two RBI.  Elvis Andrus had three hits and an RBI, Brett Nicholas had a hit and an RBI and Beltre, Andrus and Nicholas each hit a double.  Desmond and Odor each hit a homerun and the Rangers were 4-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Fielder hit an RBI single to make it 1-0 Rangers.  In the third Desmond had an RBI walk, Moreland hit a two run single, a wild pitch made it 5-0 and a Andrus RBI single extended the lead to 6-0.  In the fifth Desmond hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 7-0.  Nicholas hit an RBI double in the sixth and it was 8-0 Rangers.  Teixeira hit an RBI single to make it 8-1 in the seventh and in the bottom of the seventh a wild pitch made it 9-1 Texas.  In the eighth Odor hit a solo homerun to make it 10-1 which would be the final score.  The two teams will play the rubber game of the three game series on Wednesday night.

New York Mets defeat the Cincinnati Reds



The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-3.  Noah Syndergaard started and pitched pretty well and the bullpen was good.  Michael Conforto had three hits and Lucas Duda and Neil Walker each had two hits. 

Syndergaard pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with no walks and nine strikeouts.  Antonio Bastardo gave up a hit and a walk without recording an out, Logan Verrett won his second game of the season pitching to one batter and striking him out and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his sixth save of the season. 

Raisel Iglesias pitched five innings giving up eight hits and three runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  JC Ramirez pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts and Caleb Cotham pitched an inning with a strikeout.   Ramirez took his first loss of the season. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Conforto had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Duda had two hits and two RBI.  Walker had two hits and two RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera drew a walk, Alejandro De Aza had a hit and Travis d'Arnaud had a hit.  Syndergaard drew a walk, Conforto hit a double and he also hit a homerun.  Duda and Walker each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Syndergaard committed an error. 

Zack Cozart had a hit and two RBI, Eugenio Suarez had a hit and drew a walk and Joey Votto had a hit and an RBI.  Brandon Phillips had a hit, Ivan De Jesus Jr. had a hit and Devin Mesoraco had a hit.  Tyler Holt had a hit, Billy Hamilton had a hit and the Reds were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Phillips, Suarez and De Jesus Jr. each had a stolen base.  Hamilton had two stolen bases. 

In the first Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Cozart hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  In the third Duda hit a two run homerun to make it 3-1.  In the seventh Cozart hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2.  Votto hit an RBI single to tie the game at three and in the bottom of the seventh Walker hit a two run homerun to make it 5-3 Mets and that would be the final score. 

The Mets and Reds will play game two of the series on Tuesday night. 

New York Yankees win in Texas behind a strong Nathan Eovaldi



The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Monday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 3-1.  Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees and pitched great and the big two at the backend of the bullpen finished it for the Yankees.  Jacoby Ellsbury, Mark Teixeira, Starlin Castro and Austin Romine each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Eovaldi pitched seven innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  He won his first game of the season.  Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Andrew Miller pitched a perfect inning earning his fifth save of the season. 

Cesar Ramos lost his first game of the season pitching six innings and giving up nine hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Phil Klein pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Jake Diekman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Tom Wilhelmsen pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Ellsbury had two hits and an RBI, Carlos Beltran drew a walk and Teixeira had two hits and an RBI.  Castro had two hits and an RBI, Chase Headley had a hit and Dustin Ackley drew a walk.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Romine had two hits and Teixeira hit a double.  Ellsbury and Castro each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Gregorius committed an error. 

Nomar Mazara had a hit and drew a walk, Prince Fielder had a hit and Mitch Moreland drew a walk.  Brett Nicholas had a hit and an RBI, Fielder hit a double and Nicholas hit a homerun.  The Rangers were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Nicholas had a passed ball.

In the third Ellsbury hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Teixeira hit an RBI double to make it 2-0.  In the sixth Castro hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the eighth Texas broke through with their only run on a Nicholas solo homerun.  The final score was 3-1 and the two teams will play game two on Tuesday night.

The New York Mets sweep the Atlanta Braves



The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 3-2.  Jacob deGrom returned to the Mets and pitched well and the bullpen was good.  Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and Michael Conforto had two RBI. 

deGrom pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and a run with three strikeouts.  He won his second game of the season.  Jim Henderson pitched to one batter and struck him out, Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Jerry Blevins pitched a perfect inning.  Jeurys Familia saved his fifth game of the season and pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run. 

Aaron Blair pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout and he took his first loss of the season.  Alexi Ogando pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two walks and he struck out three, Hunter Cervenka pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two and Jason Grilli pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.

Nick Markakis had three hits and an RBI, Daniel Castro had three hits and Adonis Garcia had two hits.  Kelly Johnson had two hits, Jace Peterson had a hit and Jeff Francoeur had a hit and an RBI.  The Braves were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the first Conforto hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Markakis hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the sixth Conforto hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 2-1 lead and in the sixth Duda hit a sac fly to make it 3-1 Mets.  In the ninth Francoeur hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2 but that would be the final score. 

The Mets swept the three game series in Atlanta and had a very good road trip.  They will return home on Monday night to take on the Cincinnati Reds.   

New York Yankees fail to sweep the Tampa Bay Rays



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-1.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch very well at all.  Starlin Castro led the offense with two hits. 

Pineda pitched five innings giving up ten hits and seven runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  He picked up his second loss of the season.  Kirby Yates pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out four and Nick Goody pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Drew Smyly won his first game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and a run with a walk and six strikeouts.  Steve Geltz pitched an inning striking out one and Jhan Marinez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Carlos Beltran had a hit, Mark Teixeira had a hit and Alex Rodriguez had a hit and an RBI.  Dustin Ackley had a hit, Chase Headley drew a walk and Castro had two hits.  Rodriguez hit a double and the Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Logan Forsythe had three hits and an RBI, Logan Morrison had a hit and Evan Longoria had a hit and drew a walk.  Corey Dickerson had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Steve Pearce had two hits and an RBI and Brad Miller had a hit and an RBI.  Steven Souza Jr. had two hits and three RBI, Kevin Kiermaier had a hit and Longoria, Miller and Kiermaier each hit a double.  Dickerson, Souza Jr. Pearce and Forsythe each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Forsythe had a stolen base. 

In the first Dickerson hit a two run homerun to give the Rays a 2-0 lead.  Miller hit an RBI double, Souza Jr. hit a two run homerun and it was 5-0 Rays all in the first inning.  In the third Pearce hit a solo homerun to push the Rays lead to 6-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Rodriguez hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 6-1.  In the fifth Souza Jr. hit his second homerun of the game to make it 7-1 and in the eighth Forsythe hit a solo homerun to make it 8-1 which would be the final score.  The Yankees finished a tough homestand strong by winning two out of three in this series.  They will head to Texas for a three game series beginning on Monday night.
