New York Mets shutdown by the Cincinnati Reds


The New York Mets were defeated by the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-1.  Jason Vargas started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The Mets offense produced four hits and two were by Brandon Nimmo. 

Vargas pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout and lost his eighth game of the season.  Paul Sewald pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Bobby Wahl pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs and Tyler Bashlor pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk.  Drew Smith pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jacob Rhame pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Sal Romano pitched six innings giving up two hits and a run with three walks and five strikeouts and picked up his seventh win of the season.  Jared Hughes pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, David Hernandez pitched an inning and struck out one and Amir Garrett pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Todd Frazier had a hit and drew a walk, Nimmo had two hits and drew a walk and Jose Bautista had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Nimmo hit a double and the Mets were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Jose Peraza had a hit, Brandon had a hit and Scooter Gennett had three hits and an RBI.  Eugenio Suarez had a hit, Phillip Ervin had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk and Tucker Barnhart had a hit and an RBI.  Dilson Herrera had a hit and an RBI, Billy Hamilton had a hit and Suarez hit a double.  Ervin and Herrera each hit a homerun and the Reds were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Peraza had a stolen base and Hamilton had two stolen bases. 

In the first Gennett hit an RBI single giving the Reds a 1-0 lead.  Ervin hit a sac fly and Barnhart hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the second Bautista hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the third Ervin hit a two-run homerun to increase the lead to 5-1.  In the ninth Herrera hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 6-1 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees power their way to fourth straight win


The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-3.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the Yankees hit five homeruns including two by Neil Walker. 

Happ pitched six innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and nine strikeouts and earned his 12th game of the season.  David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Dellin Betances pitched an inning with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with two walks and two strikeouts. 

Ariel Jurado pitched five innings giving up seven hits and six runs with three walks and a strikeout and he lost his second game of the season.  Matt Moore pitched three innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had two hits, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit and drew a walk.  Aaron Hicks had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Greg Bird drew a walk and Miguel Andujar had two hits and two RBI.  Walker had two hits and two RBI and Hicks, Andujar and Stanton each hit a homerun.  Walker hit two homeruns and the Yankees were 1-1 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Shin-Soo Choo had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Roughned Odor had a hit and Jurickson Profar had two hits and an RBI.  Robinson Chirinos drew two walks, Willie Calhoun had a hit and drew a walk and Choo and Odor each hit a double.  Profar hit a homerun and the Rangers were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Odor committed an error and Gallo had an outfield assist. 

In the first Hicks hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Profar hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Andujar hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 4-1.  Walker hit a solo homerun to make it 5-1 going back-to-back.  In the fifth Choo hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 5-3.  In the bottom of the fifth Stanton hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 6-3.  In the sixth Walker hit his second homerun of the game to extend the lead to 7-3 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play their second game of four on Friday night. 

New York Yankees defeat the Chicago White Sox in 13 innings


The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chiago, Illinois and the final score was 4-3 in 13 innings.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched well and so did the bullpen except for Zach Britton who blew the save.  Miguel Andujar had three hits and Giancarlo Stanton had two hits to lead the offense. 

Sabathia pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and 12 strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched to one batter and got him out, David Robertson pitched an inning with a strikeout and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning and struck out the side.  Jonathan Holder pitched an inning with a walk, Britton blew his second save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and two runs and Sonny Gray won his ninth game of the season pitching three innings and giving up a hit and a walk with four strikeouts. 

Reynaldo Lopez pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and six strikeouts.  Juan Minaya pitched 1 2/3 innings striking one out, Jace Fry pitched an inning giving up a run and a walk with three strikeouts and Tyler Danish pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk.  Xavier Cedeno pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two, Jeanmar Gomez pitched to one batter and retired him and Luis Avilan pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his first game of the season. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit, Stanton had two hits and two RBI and Didi Gregorius drew two walks.  Gleyber Torres drew a walk, Greg Bird drew a walk and Luke Voit had a hit.  Andujar had three hits and two RBI, Kyle Higashioka had a hit and Brett Gardner drew a walk.  Hicks and Higashioka each hti a double and Andujar and Stanton each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Stanton had an outfield assist. 

Avisail Garcia had a hit and drew a walk, Jose Abreu had ah it and three RBI and Yoan Moncada drew a walk.  Ryan LaMarre had two hits, Nicky Delmonico drew a walk and Adam Engel had a hit.  Omar Narvaez had a hit and drew two walks, Garcia and LaMarre each hit a double and Abreu hit a homerun.  The White Sox were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Narvaez had a passed ball. 

In the third Abreu hit a sac fly to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Andujar hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the tenth Stanton hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  In the bottom of the tenth Abreu hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at three.  In the 13th Andujar hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game on Wednesday night.  The Yankees will be looking for the sweep before heading home for a 11 game homestand.

New York Mets beat the Cincinnati Reds


The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-4.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Jeff McNeil, Wilmer Flores and Austin Jackson each had three hits to lead the offense.   

Syndergaard pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  3Syndergaard won his seventh game of the season.  Bobby Wahl pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout, Robert Gsellman pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jerry Blevins pitched a perfect inning. 

Homer Bailey pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up 11 hits and five runs with two strikeouts.  Wandy Peralta pitched 2/3 of an inning, Keury Mella pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts and Jared Hughes pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Raisel Iglesias pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Amed Rosario had a hit, McNeil had three hits and an RBI and Flores had three hits and two RBI.  Michael Conforto had two hits, Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI and Jackson had three hits and an RBI.  Kevin Plawecki had a hit and an RBI, Syndergaard had a hit and Luis Guillorme had a hit.  Plawecki and McNeil each hit a homerun and the Mets were 4-14 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Jose Peraza had a hit and an RBI, Joey Votto had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Scooter Gennett had a hit and drew a walk.  Eugenio Suarez had a hit and two RBI, Preston Tucker had a hit and Billy Hamilton had a hit.  The Reds were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Flores hit an RBI single, Frazier hit an RBI single and Jackson hit an RBI single to make it 3-0 Mets.  In the fourth Plawecki hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  Flores hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0.  In the sixth McNeil hit a solo homerun making it 6-0.  In the seventh Peraza hit an RBI single, a walk drove in a run and Suarez hit a two-run single to make it 6-4 which would be the final score. 

New York Mets lose to the Atlanta Braves in extra innings


The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4 in ten innings.  Corey Oswalt started for the Mets and he pitched well and Wilmer Flores had three hits to lead the offense. 

Oswalt pitched six innings giving up eight hits and three runs with no walks and four strikeouts.  Paul Sewald pitched to two batters and got them both out, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Seth Lugo pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts.  Tyler Bashlor pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and he lost his first game of the season. 

Julio Teheran pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with four walks and six strikeouts.  Jonny Venters pitched to one batter and retired him, Brad Brach pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Dan Winkler pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three.  A.J. Minter pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and he won his fourth game of the season after blowing his first save of the season.  Jesse Biddle pitched an inning giving up a hit and he saved his first game of the season. 

Amed Rosario drew two walks, Jeff McNeil had a hit and an RBI and Flores had three hits and an RBI.  Michael Conforto had two hits, Austin Jackson had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Jose Reyes drew a walk.  Devin Mesoraco had a hit and an RBI.   Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk.  McNeil and Flores each hit a double and Jackson and Mesoraco each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Rosario and Nimmo each had a stolen base and Reyes was caught stealing. 

Ronald Acuna Jr. had a hit and an RBI, Freddie Freeman had a hit and Nick Markakis had four hits and an RBI.  Johan Camargo had a hit, Ender Inciarte had three hits and two RBI and Dansby Swanson had a hit.  Teheran had a hit and an RBI including a homerun and Inciarte and Markakis each hit a homerun.  The Braves were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Flores hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third McNeil hit an RBI double to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Jackson hit a solo homerun to increase the lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Teheran hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the seventh Inciarte hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at three.  In the ninth Acuna hit an RBI single to give the Braves a 4-3 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth Mesoraco hit a solo homerun after a replay review to tie the game at four.  In the tenth Markakis hit a solo homerun to give the Braves a 5-4 lead and that was the final score.
