The New York Giants Defeat The Patriots And Win The Super Bowl Once Again In A Nail Biter

By Gary W. Marchese Jr.
Indianapolis,IN(February 5)-The New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl 46. The Giants started out great and got out to a 9-0 first quarter lead. The Giants after that though weren’t doing much offensively. The Patriots were able to take a 10-9 lead at the half. The second half started off good for the Patriots and then in crunch time once again Eli Manning and the Giants came through. The final score was 21-17. It was a much lower scoring game then what everyone thought. The Giants defense wasn’t really getting to Tom Brady but they did a good job of keeping them off the scoreboard.

Manning was 30-40 for 296 yards and one touchdown. Ahmad Bradshaw rushed the ball 17 times for 72 yards and a touchdown at the end of the game that won it. The touchdown was an interesting play because he could of fell down at the one so time would of run down. Bradshaw did stop but then fell forward in to the end zone as the Patriot defenders let him score the touchdown. If he would of fell down they would of run the clock down and kicked a last second field goal. I think there is too much risk in kicking the field goal though even though it would have been an easy extra point. If you have a final kick anything can happen though, it could be blocked, the snap could be bad and the kicker could just miss it. Brandon Jacobs ran it nine times for 37 yards. D.J. Ware ran it one time for six yards. Hakeem Nicks caught the ball 10 times for 109 yards. Mario Manningham caught the ball five times for 73 yards, Victor Cruz caught it four times for 25 yards and a touchdown. Bear Pascoe had four catches for 33 yards and Bradshaw caught it two times for 19 yards. Lawrence Tynes was 2-2 in field goals and his long was 38 yards and he had an extra point.

Brady was 27-41 for 276 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushed the ball 10 times for 44 yards. Wes Welker rushed it two times for 21 yards and Danny Woodhead rushed it seven times for 18 yards. Aaron Hernandez caught the ball eight times for 67 yards and a touchdown. Welker caught it seven times for 60 yards, Woodhead caught it four times for 42 yards and a touchdown and Deion Branch caught the ball three times for 45 yards. Rob Gronkowski was pretty ineffective with his injury, he caught the ball twice for 26 yards. Stephen Gostkowski was 1-1 on field goals and had two extra points. The field goal was from 29 yards.

Chase Blackburn had the lone interception in the game. Michael Boley led the team in tackles with nine and an assist. Justin Tuck had the only two sacks for the Giants. The Giants defense did start rushing Brady better in the second half and especially towards the end of the game.

Jerod Mayo led the Patriots in tackles with eight and three assists. Mark Anderson had 1 ½ sacks and Rob Ninkovich had ½ a sack.

The Giants were 7-7 and needed to defeat the Jets and Cowboys in the last two games to make the playoffs. They were able to do that and get a first round home game against the Atlanta Falcons. The Giants pounded the Falcons 22-2 and then went on to Green Bay. The Giants were underdogs in that game and they really dominated and were able to win that game. They went on to San Francisco and in a brutal game survived and were the NFC Champions. They then played this nail biter game again against the New England Patriots and their improbable run ends with another championship. The parallels between this season and the 2007 championship season are unbelievable. The catch of this game was Manningham down the sideline that was somewhat like the David Tyree catch in 2007. Manning once again won the MVP and now has two Super Bowl rings and two MVP awards. He is one ahead of his brother in titles and one behind Brady.
