The New York Yankees shutout the Miami Marlins

The New York Yankees defeated the Miami Marlins on Friday night.  The game took place at

Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 3-0.  Hiroki Kuroda pitched the first

three scoreless innings and then Masahiro Tanaka completed the final six scoreless innings.  Kuroda

was good but Tanaka was really good.  The offense didn't do anything until the eighth inning when

Kelly Johnson, Yangervis Solarte and Brian Roberts all had hits. 

Kuroda pitched three scoreless innings giving up three hits and striking out four.  Tanaka picked up his second win of the spring pitching six scoreless giving up three hits with no walks and ten strikeouts. 

Solarte had a hit and an RBI, Derek Jeter drew a walk and Mark Teixeira drew a walk.  Brian McCann had an RBI, Johnson had a hit and Roberts had a hit and an RBI.  Johnson hit a double and the Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Gardner had two stolen bases, Antoan Richardson had a stolen base and Solarte was caught stealing.  Nunez committed an error. 

The Yankees will play their final exhibition game of the year on Saturday afternoon in Tampa against the Marlins.  The Yankees will then fly to Houston to begin the season on Tuesday night.
