CC ruins a great start with a bad inning in loss to the Boston Red Sox

The  New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place

at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-2 Red Sox.  CC  Sabathia started

and pitched well but had one bad inning.  The Yankees bullpen was good and the offense

couldn't get much going against Jon Lester.

Sabathia  pitched seven innings giving up six hits and four runs.  He walked two and struck out nine
and suffered his second loss of the season.  Cesar Cabral pitched to one batter and walked him,
Adam Warren pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Dellin Betances struck out
the side in his one inning of work.

Lester pitched 6 2/3 innings to earn his first win of the season.  He gave up six hits and two runs
with two walks and six strikeouts.  Junichi Tazawa pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and striking
out two and Edward Mujica pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout to earn his first save of the
season.

Derek Jeter had a hit, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew a walk and Alfonso Soriano had two hits
and an RBI.  Ichiro Suzuki had two hits, Brian Roberts drew a walk and Kelly Johnson had a hit and an
RBI.

Soriano hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men
on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base.

Jonny Gomes had two hits and an RBI, David Ortiz had a hit and drew two walks and Mike Napoli
had a hit.  Grady Sizemore had two hits and three RBI, Xander Bogaerts drew a walk and David Ross
had a hit.  Ross hit a double, Gomes and Sizemore each hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 1-8
with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.

Soriano hit a solo homerun in the second to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth the Red Sox
scored four runs to take a 4-1 lead.  Gomes hit a solo homerun and Sizemore hit a three run
homerun.

The Yankees would score a run in the seventh on a Johnson RBI single but that would be the final
run.

The final score was 4-2 Red Sox.  The two teams will play game three of their four game set on
Saturday afternoon.  Hiroki Kuroda will face off against John Lackey.
