The New York Mets rally to defeat the Miami Marlins 3-1



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 3-1.  Dillon Gee started and pitched well and Juan Lagares led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Gee pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with no walks and three strikeouts.  Carlos Torres won his first game of the season pitching to one batter and retiring him and Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect innign with a strikeout and earned his ninth save of the season. 

Jarred Cosart pitched eight innings giving up two hits and no runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Steve Cishek pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Lagares had two hits and Lucas Duda drew three walks.  Daniel Murphy had a hit and three RBI, Eric Campbell had a hit and Wilmer Flores had a hit.  Lagares and Campbell each hit a double and Murphy hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Campbell had a stolen base. 

Dee Gordon had two hits, Martin Prado had a hit and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit.  Michael Morse had a hit, Justin Bour had a hit and the Marlins were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the eighth Prado hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Murphy hit a three run homerun to give the Mets a 3-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The Mets and Marlins will play on Tuesday night.
