The New York Mets win their sixth straight game



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 8-6 Mets.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and pitched great but the bullpen was bad.  Daniel Murphy and Ruben Tejada each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Harvey pitched seven innings giving up two hits and no runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  He earned his tenth win of the season.  Bobby Parnell pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Eric O'Flaherty the newest Mets pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and four runs with a strikeout and Hansel Robles pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Jeurys Familia picked up his 29th save of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up two hits. 

David Phelps lost his eighth game of the season pitching 4 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and seven runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Chris Narveson pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out four and A.J. Ramos pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run. 

Curtis Granderson had two hits, Murphy had three hits and drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had two hits and an RBI.  Lucas Duda had a hit, three RBI and drew two walks, Juan Uribe had a hit and three RBI and Michael Conforto had an RBI.  Tejada had three hits including two doubles, Duda and Murphy also each hit a double.  Uribe hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Dee Gordon had two hits and an RBI, Derek Dietrich had three hits and Justin Bour had a hit and an RBI.  Martin Prado had a hit, Ichiro Suzuki had a hit and an RBI and Adeiny Hechavarria  had a hit.  Jeff Mathis drew two walks, Miguel Rojas had a hit and three RBI and Dietrich, Bour and Rojas each hit a double.  The Marlins were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the third Cespedes hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Duda hit a two run double to extend the Mets lead to 3-0.  Conforto hit a sac fly to make it 4-0 in the third and in the fifth Uribe hit a three run homerun to push the lead to 7-0 Mets.  In the ninth Duda hit a sac fly to make it 8-0 and seem out of reach but the Marlins stormed back in the bottom of the ninth.  Bour hit an RBI double, Suzuki hit an RBI single and Rojas hit a three run double to make it an 8-5 game.  Gordon hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-6 but that would be the final score.  The Mets swept the series and will be off on Thursday.
