The New York Mets win third straight over the Cincinnati Reds



The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday evening.  The game took place at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio and the final score was 10-2 Mets.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and pitched well and the bullpen was good.  Curtis Granderson and Daniel Murphy each had a couple of hits to lead the offense and the Mets clinched the NL East title. 

Harvey pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up nine htis and two runs with no walks and six strikeouts.  He won his 13th game of the season.  Addison Reed pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Tyler Clippard pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

John Lamb pitched two innings giving up three hits and five runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Lamb lost his fourth game of the season.  Carlos Contreras pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts, Collin Balester pitched three innings giving up two walks and two strikeouts and Ryan Mattheus pitched a perfect inning.  Burke Badenhop pitched an inning giving up five hits and three runs. 

Granderson had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, David Wright had a hit and three RBI with two walks and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit.  Murphy had two hits and drew a walk, Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and drew a walk and Lucas Duda had a hit, four RBI and drew two walks.  Michael Cuddyer had a hit and two RBI, Kelly Johnson had a hit and Cuddyer and Murphy each hit a double.  Duda, Granderson and Wright each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Wright committed an error. 

In the first Duda hit a grand slam to make it 4-0 Mets.  In the second Granderson hit a solo homerun to make it 5-0 Mets.  In the second De Jesus hit a two run double to cut the lead to 5-2 Mets.  In the third Cuddyer hit a two run double to push the lead to 7-2.  In the ninth Wright hit a three run homerun and it was 10-2 Mets which would be the final score.  The Mets will look for the four game sweep on Sunday afternoon.
