The New York Mets lose their fourth in a row



The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and pitched well.  The Mets only had six hits and no player had more than a hit. 

Syndergaard pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and a run with a walk and 12 strikeouts.  Jim Henderson picked up his first loss of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks, Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and retired him and Addison Reed pitched to one batter and retired him.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Jose Fernandez started for the Marlins pitching five innings giving up three hits and a run with three walks and five strikeouts.  Craig Breslow pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one, David Phelps won his second game of the year pitching two innings and walking a batter and striking out three.  A.J. Ramos pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew a walk, David Wright drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a walk.  Lucas Duda had a hit and an RBI, Neil Walker had a hit and Michael Conforto drew a walk.  Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and Granderson hit a double.  The Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Dee Gordon had a hit, Marcell Ozuna had a hit and Christian Yelich had a hit and drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton drew two walks, Justin Bour had a hit and Martin Prado had an RBI.  Derek Dietrich had two hits and an RBI.  Jeff Mathis drew a walk, Fernandez had a hit and Ichiro Suzuki had a hit.  Miguel Rojas had a hit, Dietrich hit a double and the Marlins were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Yelich and Gordon each had a stolen base and Yelich was caught stealing.  Ozuna had an outfield assist. 

In the first Duda hit an RBI single giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Dietrich hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Prado hit a sac fly to make it 2-1 Marlins and that would be the final score. 

The Mets have lost four in a row and will try and avoid the three game sweep on Wednesday night.
