New York Yankees hang on for win over the New York Mets


The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-6.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched well and Aaron Judge and Miguel Andujar each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Gray pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out six and won his seventh game of the season.  David Robertson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, Jonathan Holder pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman was awful trying to close out the game, he gave up a hit and three runs with three walks and didn’t record an out.  Chasen Shreve recorded his first save of the season and he pitched a perfect inning. 

Steven Matz lost his eighth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up nine hits and five runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Tim Peterson pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run and he struck out one and Anthony Swarzak pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Aaron Hicks drew a walk, Judge had three hits and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit.  Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI, Andujar had three hits and an RBI and Greg Bird had two hits and two RBI.  Brandon Drury had a hit, Austin Romine had a hit and two RBI and Andujar hit two doubles.  Bird and Judge hit a double and Gregorius hit a triple.  Judge hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Robertson committed an error. 

Brandon Nimmo had an RBI, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Michael Conforto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jose Bautista drew two walks, Kevin Plawecki drew a walk and Amed Rosario had three hits and an RBI.  Ty Kelly drew a walk, Jose Reyes had an RBI and drew a walk and Conforto hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base and Nimmo committed an error. 

In the second Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Gregorius hit an RBI triple to tie the game at one.  Andujar hit an RBI double, Bird hit an RBI double and Romine hit an RBI single to make it 4-1 Yankees.  In the sixth Rosario hit an RBI single and Robertson committed a throwing error to allow a run to score cutting it to 4-3.  In the bottom of the sixth Bird hit an RBI single to push the lead to 5-3.  In the seventh Judge hit a solo homerun and it was 6-3 Yankees.  In the eighth Romine hit an RBI ground out to increase the lead to 7-3.  In the ninth Reyes drew an RBI walk, Nimmo was hit by a pitch and a run scored an Mesoraco hit into a double play and a run scored cutting the lead to 7-6.  The game would end with the Yankees winning 7-6. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the three-game series on Sunday night.  Jacob deGrom will start for the Mets with Masahiro Tanaka going for the Yankees.

New York Yankees lose as they can't overcome a bad Gray outing


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 6-2.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well, David Hale out of the bullpen was great.  Brett Gardner had two hits to lead the offense. 

Gray lost his seventh game of the season pitching two innings and giving up six hits and five runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Hale pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Sam Gaviglio pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with one of them being earned and he walked three and struck out six.  Joe Biagini pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out one and he won his first game of the season, Aaron Loup p itched 1/3 of an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Seunghwan Oh pitched 2/3 of an inning and struck out one.  John Axford pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Tyler Clippard pitched a perfect inning. 

Gardner had two hits, Aaron Hicks had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk[GM1] .  Miguel Andujar had a hit, Greg Bird drew a walk and Austin Romine had a hit and drew a walk.  Neil Walker drew a walk, Hicks hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and Andujar committed an error. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit and an RBI, Teoscar Hernandez had a hit and an RBI and Yangervis Solarte had three hits and drew a walk.  Justin Smoak had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Kevin Pillar had a hit and Randul Grichuk had a hit.  Aledmys Diaz had a hit, Devon Travis had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Grichuk, Diaz and Hernandez each hit a double and Smoak hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 6-14 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Pillar had a stolen base and Solarte committed an error.

In the first Travis and Granderson each hit an RBI single to give the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead.  In the second Smoak hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 5-0.  In the third Hicks hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the fifth Hicks drew an RBI walk to cut the lead to 5-2.  In the eighth Hernandez hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.

New York Yankees are shutout in blowout loss to the Boston Red Sox


 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 11-0.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The Yankees offense only produced two hits. 

Gray pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with two walks.  Gray lost his sixth game of the season.  Adam Warren pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out four, Giovanny Gallegos pitched two innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts. 

Chris Sale won his eighth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up a hit and no runs.  He walked one and struck out 11.  Heath Hembree pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Hector Velazquez pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Austin Romine drew a walk.  Brett Gardner drew a walk and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Judge had an outfield assist. 

Mookie Betts had two hits and drew two walks, Andrew Benintendi had a hit and an RBI and J.D. Martinez had three hits and three RBI.  Mitch Moreland drew a walk, Xander Bogaerts had two hits and Rafael Devers had five hits and four RBI.  Brock Holt had a hit and an RBI, Sandy Leon had two hits and two RBI and Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit.  Leon, Devers and Betts each hit a double.  Devers and Leon each hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 7-15 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Benintendi and Bradley Jr. each had a stolen base. 

In the first Devers hit a grand slam giving the Red Sox a 4-0 lead.  In the second Benintendi hit an RBI single, J.D. Martinez hit a sac fly and it was 6-0 Red Sox.  In the sixth Martinez hit an RBI single to push the lead to 7-0.  In the seventh Leon hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 9-0.  In the eighth Martinez hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 10-0 and the scoring was wrapped up with a Holt RBI single in the ninth to make it 11-0 which was the final score.

New York Yankees are shutout by the Tampa Bay RaysNew


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday evening.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 4-0.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he got off to a rough start but then settled down.  The Yankees offense didn’t do anything at all. 

Gray pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with a walk and seven strikeouts and lost his fifth game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout and Chad Green pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

Wilmer Font pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Font earned his first win of the season.  Jonny Venters pitched to one batter and gave up a hit, Ryne Stanek pitched 1 1/3 innings with a walk and a strikeout and Chaz Roe pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Sergio Romo pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Aaron Judge drew a walk, Didi Gregorius had two hits and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit.  Greg Bird drew a walk, Austin Romine had a hit and Stanton and Romine each hit a double.  The Yankees were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Gregorius committed an error. 

Kevin Kiermaier had a hit and drew a walk, Matt Duffy had a hit and drew a walk and Jake Bauers had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Johnny Field had a hit, CJ Cron had a hit and Daniel Robertson had a hit and an RBI.  Mallex Smith had a hit and Willy Adames had two hits and two RBI, Bauers, Cron, Robertson and Smith each hit a double.  Adames hit a homerun and the Rays were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Ramos had a passed ball. 

In the first Bauers hit an RBI double to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the second the lead was pushed to 2-0 on a Robertson RBI double and Adames hit an RBI single to make it 3-0.  In the seventh Adames hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-0 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of their series on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees will try and avoid the sweep and their first three-game losing streak of the season.

New York Yankees defeat the Washington Nationals


The New York Yankees defeated the Washington Nationals on Monday night.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. and the final score was 4-2.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched pretty well, the bullpen was great and Giancarlo Stanton had four hits and two RBI to lead the offense. 

Gray won his fifth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Jonathan Holder pitched an inning with two strikeouts, David Robertson pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and saved his 21st game of the season. 

Erick Fedde pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Fedde lost his second game of the season.  Tim Collins walked the only batter that he faced, Wander Suero pitched an inning giving up a run and a walk with a strikeout and Sammy Solis pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk.  Shawn Kelley pitched an inning with a walk and Matt Grace pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Aaron Hicks had two hits and two RBI, Aaron Judge drew two walks and Didi Gregorius had a hit.   Stanton had four hits and two RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk and Greg Bird drew two walks.  Austin Romine had a hit, Neil Walker drew a walk and Hicks and Stanton each hit a double and Hicks hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Judge had a stolen base and Gregorius was caught stealing. 

Adam Eaton had two hits, Trea Turner drew a walk and Anthony Rendon had two hits and drew a walk.  Juan Soto had two hits, Mark Reynolds had two RBI and Daniel Murphy had a hit.  Michael Taylor drew a walk, Rendon and Murphy each hit a double and the Nationals were 0-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Suero committed an error. 

In the first Stanton hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Reynolds hit an RBI ground out to tie the game at one.  In the fourth Reynolds hit a sac fly giving the Nationals a 2-1 lead.  In the fifth Hicks hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees back the lead at 3-2 and in the seventh Stanton hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 4-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost the completion of the suspended game first 5-3 and they now split the brief two-game series just like they did in New York.  They will return home to take on the Mariners for a three-game series.

New York Yankees lose a close one to the Washington Nationals


The New York Yankees lost to the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Sonny Gray started and he didn’t pitch very well.  The bullpen did pretty good and Giancarlo Stanton had three hits and Greg Bird two to lead the offense. 

Gray pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Chasen Shreve lost his first game of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts, David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

 Erick Fedde pitched five innings giving up six hits Jand four runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Justin Miller pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and striking out four and he won his fourth game of the season, Sammy Solis pitched to one batter and got him out and Ryan Madson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and he struck out one.  Sean Doolittle saved his 17th game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Didi Gregorius drew two walks.  Stanton had three hits and an RBI, Bird had two hits and an RBI and Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI.  Judge and Bird each hit a double and Bird and Torres each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and Gregorius was caught stealing.  Gardner had an outfield assist and Gray had two pickoffs. 

Adam Eaton had three hits, Trea Turner had two hits and Anthony Rendon had an RBI.  Daniel Murphy drew a walk, Matt Adams had three hits and Juan Soto had two hits, four RBI and drew a walk.  Eaton hit a double and Soto hit two homeruns.  The Nationals were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Turner had a stolen base and Taylor was caught stealing.  Soto and Turner were picked off and Kieboom committed an error. 

In the first Rendon hit a sac fly giving the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Judge hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  In the second Bird hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the third Stanton hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-1.  In the fourth Soto hit a two-run homerun to give the Nationals a 4-3 lead.  In the fifth Torres hit a solo homerun tying the game at four.  In the seventh Soto hit his second homerun of the game to give the Nationals a 5-4 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams split the brief two-game series and will play again on Monday in Washington to finish a suspended game and then another game after.  The Yankees will remain at home and begin a four-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night.

New York Yankees shutout the Toronto Blue Jays and earn brief two-game sweep


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 3-0 in 13 innings.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched great, the bullpen also was great pitching five scoreless.  Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton each hit a homerun in the 13th to break the 0-0 tie and win the game for the Yankees. 

Gray pitched eight scoreless innings giving up two hits and he walked two and struck out eight.  Chad Green pitched two innings with a couple of strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two and David Robertson picked up his fourth win of the season pitching an inning and striking out two.  Aroldis Chapman picked up his 15th save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Sam Gaviglio pitched seven innings giving up three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.  Ryan Tepera pitched two innings giving up a hit and a strikeout, Tyler Clippard pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Tim Mayza pitched to one batter and retired him.  John Axford pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts, Danny Barnes pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Biagini lost his fifth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had two hits, Judge had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Miguel Andujar had a hit and drew two walks.  Gleyber Torres had a hit, Sanchez and Andujar each hit a double and Judge and Stanton each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Gregorius was caught stealing. 

Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Justin Smoak had a hit and Kendrys Morales had two hits.  Russell Martin drew a walk, Devon Travis had a hit and Smoak and Morales each hit a double.  The Blue Jays were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Travis had a stolen base. 

In the 13th inning Judge hit a two-run homerun to break a scoreless tie and Stanton followed with a solo homerun two batters later to push the score to 3-0 which was the final score.

New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 4-1.  Sonny Gray pitched very well and the bullpen finished it off.  Brett Gardner, Aaron Hicks, Austin Romine and Gleyber Torres each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Gray pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with no walks and six strikeouts and he won his fourth game of the season.  Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched an inning with two walks and a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman saved his 13th game of the season pitching a perfect inning with three strikeouts. 

Andrew Cashner lost his seventh game of the season pitching six innings giving up nine hits and three runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Tanner Scott pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts, Richard Bleier pitched an inning giving up two hits and Mike Wright Jr. pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Gardner had two hits, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Greg Bird had a hit and an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Hicks had two hits and Neil Walker had a hit.  Romine had two hits, an RBI an drew a walk, Torres had two hits and an RBI and Hicks hit two doubles.  Torres and Romine each hit a double and Bird hit a triple.  Judge hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-16 with runners in scoring position with eight men left on base.  Gardner and Gregorius each had a stolen base. 

Adam Jones drew a walk, Manny Machado had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Mark Trumbo had a hit.  Jonathan Schoop had a hit, Trey Mancini had a hit and Chance Sisco drew a walk.  Schoop and Mancini each hit a double and Machado hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Mancini had an outfield assist. 

In the first Machado hit a solo homerun to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the third Torres hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Bird hit an RBI triple to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Romine hti an RBI double to push the lead to 3-1 and in the seventh Judge hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-1.  The final score was 4-1. 

The two teams will try and play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.  The first game of the series was rained out and there is rain in the forecast for the next two days as well.

New York Yankees roll to victory and take eighth straight series


The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Kaufmann Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri and the final score was 10-1.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Miguel Andujar and Austin Romine each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Gray won his third game of the season pitching eight innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  A.J. Cole pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Eric Skoglund pitched five innings giving up eight hits and six runs with two walks and three strikeouts and he lost his fourth game of the season.  Brian Flynn pitched three innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts and Jason Adam pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton had two hits.  Aaron Hicks had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Tyler Austin had two hits and four RBI and Andujar had three hits and an RBI.  Romine had three hits and two RBI, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and Gleyber Torres drew a walk.  Stanton and Romine each hit a double and Andujar and Hicks each hit a triple.  Austin hit two homeruns and Andujar and Romine each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

John Jay had a hit and an RBI, Mike Moustakas had a hit and Hunter Dozier had two hits.  Drew Butera drew a walk, the Royals were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the fourth Austin hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Romine hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Hicks hit an RBI triple to extend the lead to 4-0.  Austin hit a two-run homerun to make it a 6-0 game.  In the eighth Gardner hit an RBI single to push the lead to 7-0 and a wild pitch made it 8-0.  In the bottom of the eighth Jay hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-1.  In the ninth Andujar and Romine each hit a solo homerun to make it a 10-1 game and that was the final. 

The Yankees won their eighth straight series as they won two out of three.  They will head to Texas to begin a three-game series with the Rangers on Monday night.

New York Yankees lose to the Oakland Athletics

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Oakland Athletics on Friday night.

The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-5.

Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch well, the Yankees offense had some hits

but no player had more then a hit.  Gray lost his third game of the season pitching five innings giving

up nine hits and five runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  David Hale pitched three innings

giving up four hits and two runs with two strikeouts and David Robertson pitched an inning giving

up a hit and three runs with two walks and a strikeout.

Kendall Graveman won his first game of the season pitching six innings and giving up three hits and

four runs with one of them being earned and he walked two and struck out four.  Ryan Dull pitched

1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Lou Trivino walked the only two batters that he

faced.  Yusmeiro Petit pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and Blake Treinen pitched 1 1/3 innings

giving up a hit and striking out two and saved his sixth game of the season.

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew three walks, Aaron Judge had a hit, four RBI and drew a walk and

Giancarlo Stanton had a hit.  Neil Walker had a hit, Miguel Andujar had a hit and Austin Romine had

a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI, Torres and Judge each hit a homerun and the Yankees

were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.

Marcus Semien had two hits and four RBI, Matt Joyce had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and

Jed Lowrie had three hits and two RBI.  Khris Davis had a hit and an RBI, Matt Olson had two hits

, Matt Chapman had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Jonathan Lucroy had a hit.  Mark Canha

had a hit and drew two walks, Dustin Fowler had a hit and Canha, Olson, Semien each hit a double.

Davis, Chapman, Lowrie and Joyce each hit a homerun.  The Athletics were 3-16 with runners in

scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Semien committed an error.

In the second Davis hit a solo homerun to give the Athletics a 1-0 lead.  Chapman hit a two-run

homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  In the third Lowrie hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0.

In the third Torres hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the fourth Semien hit an RBI ground

out and the score was 5-1.  In the fifth Judge hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 5-4.  In the

sixth Lowrie hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 6-4.  In the seventh Judge had an RBI walk and

the lead was cut to 6-5.  In the eighth Joyce hit a solo homerun and it was 7-5.  In the ninth Semien

hit a three-run double and the score was 10-5 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees win fifth straight with victory over the Cleveland Indians


The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen was great.  Brett Gardner led the offense with two RBI. 

Gray pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs.  He walked two and struck out seven and won his second game of the season.  Chad Green pitched two perfect innings with four strikeouts and David Robertson picked up his first save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Trevor Bauer lost his third game of the season pitching six innings and giving up two hits and four runs with two of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out eight.  Ben Taylor pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts. 

Gardner had a hit and two RBI, Aaron Hicks had a hit and Neil Walker drew a walk.  Miguel Andujar drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Austin Romine had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Ronald Torreyes had an RBI, Romine hit a double and the Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Francisco Lindor had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Jose Ramirez had a hit and Michael Brantley drew a walk.  Edwin Encarnacion had a hit and an RBI, Tyler Naquin had a hit and Bradley Zimmer had a hit.  Zimmer, Ramirez and Encarnacion each hit a double.  Lindor hit a homerun and the Indians were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Lindor committed an error. 

In the fifth Lindor hit a solo homerun to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Romine drew an RBI walk to tie the game at one.  Torreyes reached on a fielder’s choice error and two runs scored to make it 3-1.  Gardner hit a sac fly to make it a 4-1 game.   In the sixth Encarnacion hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the seventh Gardner hit an RBI single to make it a 5-2 game and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have now won five in a row and 14 out of their last 15 games.  They will go for the sweep of the series on Sunday afternoon.

New York Yankees lose a tough one in Houston


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Monday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 2-1.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The Yankees offense only managed three hits. 

Gray lost his second game of the season pitching six innings and giving up four hits and two runs.  He walked three and struck out four.  Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Charlie Morton won his fourth game of the season.  He pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and ten strikeouts.  Brad Peacock walked the only batter that he faced, Chris Devenski pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Ken Giles saved his third game pitching a perfect inning with three strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk.  Austin Romine had a hit, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Torres hit a double and the Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Torres had a stolen base. 

George Springer had a hit, Jose Altuve had a hit and Carlos Correa had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Yurli Gurriel had a hit and an RBI, Alex Bregman drew two walks and Gurriel and Correa each hit a double.  The Astros were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Correa hit an RBI ground out to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Gurriel hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the eighth Gardner hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1 and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees win fifth straight with victory over the Minnesota Twins


The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-4.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and was a little better but still struggled.  The bullpen pitched well and Didi Gregorius led the offense with three hits. 

Gray pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with five walks and four strikeouts.  Chad Green picked up his second win of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts, Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout and David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman saved his fourth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Lance Lynn pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with three walks and three strikeouts and took his second loss of the season.  Trevor Hildenberger pitched to one batter and retired him, Ryan Pressly pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out two and Zach Duke pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and he struck out two.  Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Taylor Rogers pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with three walks. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Gregorius had three hits, two RBI and drew two walks.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez drew two walks and Tyler Austin had two hits and three RBI.  Miguel Andujar had a hit, Austin Romine drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had two hits.  Torres, Andujar and Austin each hit a double.  Gregorius and Austin each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

Brian Dozier drew a walk, Joe Mauer had two hits and drew a walk and Miguel Sano had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks.  Max Kepler had three hits and an RBI, Eduardo Escobar had two hits and drew a walk and Logan Morrison had a hit.  Robbie Grossman had an RBI and drew a walk, Mauer hit a double and Sano hit a homerun.  The Twins were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Dozier was caught stealing. 

In the first Sano hit a two-run homerun to give the Twins a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Gregorius hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Gregorius hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  Austin hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 5-2 lead.  In the fourth Grossman grounded into a force out and a run scored to cut the lead to 5-3.  In the fourth Judge hit a sac fly to make it a 6-3 game.  In the seventh Kepler hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-4.  In the eighth Stanton hit a sac fly to push the lead to 7-4 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have taken the first three games of the series and will look for the four game sweep on Thursday afternoon.

New York Yankees are defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays in a slug fest


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-5.  Sonny Gray started and he didn’t pitch well.  The bullpen wasn’t great either.  Aaron Hicks and Tyler Austin each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Gray pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up five hits and five runs with four walks.  Domingo German lost his first game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with four walks and three strikeouts, Adam Warren pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Chasen Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout. 

Marco Estrada won his second game of the season pitching five innings giving up seven hits and five runs.  He walked one and struck out four.  Seung Hwan Oh pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, Danny Barnes pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Ryan Tepera pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Roberto Osuna pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and saved his sixth game of the season. 

Aaron Judge had a hit, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and two RBI.  Hicks had two hits and drew a walk, Austin had two hits and two RBI and Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI.  Ronald Torreyes had three hits including a double, Austin, Stanton and Andujar each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Curtis Granderson drew three walks, Teoscar Hernandez had a hit, three RBI and drew two walks and Justin Smoak had a hit.  Yangervis Solarte had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Russell Martin had a hit and drew a walk and Kendrys Morales had two hits and an RBI.  Kevin Pillar had a hit and drew a walk, Aledmys Diaz drew a walk and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had two hits and three RBI.  Martin and Morales each hit a double.  Hernandez and Solarte each hit a homerun and the Blue Jays were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. 

In the second Austin hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  IN the third Hernandez hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at two.  In the third Stanton hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 4-2 lead.  In the fourth Morales hit an RBI double and Gurriel Jr. hit a two-run single to give the Blue Jays a 5-4 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Andujar hit a solo homerun to tie the game at five.  In the fifth Gurriel Jr. hit an RBI single, Hernandez drew an RBI walk and it was 7-5 Jays.  In the sixth Solarte hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 8-5 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams have split the first two games and will play game three of four on Saturday afternoon.

New York Yankees get doubled up by the Boston Red Sox to drop series


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 6-3.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he wasn’t very good, the bullpen pitched well.  The Yankees offense only managed four hits but Sanchez had three RBI. 

Gray pitched three innings giving up seven hits and six runs.  He walked two and struck out three and took his first loss of the season.  Domingo German pitched three innings giving up a hit and struck out three, Tommy Khanle pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Rick Porcello won his third game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up two hits and no runs with six strikeouts.  Marcus Walden pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two of them being earned and he walked two and struck out two and Craig Kimbrel pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Didi Gregorius drew a walk.  Sanchez had a hit and three RBI, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and Judge, Torreyes and Sanchez each hit a double.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Stanton had a stolen base and Wade committed an error. 

Mookie Betts had two RBI, Andrew Benintendi had two hits and an RBI and Mitch Moreland had two hits and an RBI.  Eduardo Nunez had two hits, Tzu-Wei Lin drew a walk and Jackie Bradley Jr.  had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.   Sandy Leon had a hit and an RBI, Brock Holt drew a walk and Nunez and Bradley Jr. each hit a double.  The Red Sox were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Devers committed an error. 

In the second Leon hit an RBI single, Betts hit a sac fly, Benintendi reached on a fielder’s choice and Moreland hit an RBI single giving Boston a 4-0 lead.  In the third Bradley Jr. hit an RBI double to push their lead to 5-0.  Betts hit an RBI ground out and it was 6-0.  In the ninth Sanchez hit a three-run double to cut the lead to 6-3 but that would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost two out of three games to Boston and will now head to Detroit for a three-game series that begins on Friday night.

New York Yankees end two game losing streak with win over the Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-3.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and pitched well.  The bullpen did their job as well and Brett Gardner and Tyler Austin each had two hits and two RBI and Ronald Torreyes had three hits. 

Gray won his first game of the season pitching six innings and giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Adam Warren pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits, David Robertson pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up no hits or runs and striking out four and Luis Cessa pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Chris Tillman lost his second game of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and five runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  Richard Bleier pitched to two batters and got them both out, Jimmy Yacabonis pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two walks and Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk. 

Gardner had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit and two RBI and Giancarlo Stanton drew two walks.  Didi Gregorius drew two walks, Austin had two hits and two RBI and Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI.  Jace Peterson had a hit and drew a walk, Austin Romine had a hit and an RBI and Torreyes had three hits.  Gardner, Torreyes and Judge each hit a double and the Yankees were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gregorius had a stolen base and Peterson was caught stealing.  Gray committed an error. 

Trey Mancini had two hits, Manny Machado had a hit and two RBI and Chris Davis drew a walk.  Tim Beckham had a hit, Pedro Alvarez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Chance Sisco had a hit.  Machado, Alvarez and Mancini each hit a double.  The Orioles were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Santander and Mancini each had an outfield assist. 

In the second Gardner hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the third Machado hit a two-run double to tie the game at two.  In the fourth Alvarez hit an RBI double to give the Orioles a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Judge hit an RBI ground out to tie the game at three.  In the sixth Andujar hit a sac fly, Romine hit an RBI single and it was 5-3 Yankees.  In the seventh Judge hit an RBI double and Austin hit a two-run single to make it 8-3 Yankees. 

The teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees will try to split the four games and the Orioles will be looking to secure the series win with three out of four.

New York Yankees drop second straight north of the border


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 7-4.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched well but not deep into the game.  The bullpen did not do their job as they blew the lead and Brandon Drury led the offense with a couple of hits and RBI. 

Gray pitched four innings giving up seven hits and a run with three walks and eight strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out four, Tommy Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and David Robertson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and four runs with a walk and he took the loss his first of the season. 

Marcus Stroman pitched five innings giving up three hits and four runs with three walks and eight strikeouts.  Danny Barnes pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, John Axford pitched an inning with two walks and a strikeout and Tyler Clippard won his first game pitching an inning and giving up a walk and he struck out one.  Seung Hwan Oh pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and saved his first game of the season. 

Aaron Judge had a hit and drew two walks, Giancarlo Stanton drew three walks and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Neil Walker had a hit and an RBI, Drury had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Gregorius hit a double.  Drury hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Judge had an outfield assist. 

Devon Travis had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had a hit and drew two walks and Justin Smoak had three hits, six RBI and drew a walk.  Yangervis Solarte had a hit, Russell Martin had a hit and drew a walk and Kevin Pillar had three hits.  Gift Ngoepe had a hit, Aledmys Diaz had a hit which was a double and Smoak hit two homeruns.  The Jays were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Solarte committed an error. 

In the second Travis hit an RBI single to give the Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the third Gregorius hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  Walker hit an RBI single and the Yankees took a 2-1 lead.  Drury hit a two-run homerun and it was 4-1 Yankees.  In the seventh Smoak hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the eighth Smoak hit a grand-slam to give the Jays a 7-4 lead and that was the final score of the game. 

The Yankees will now head home for their home opener on Monday and a brief two game series with the Tampa Bay Rays.

New York Yankees win final exhibitioin game


The New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.  The game took place at Suntrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 5-1.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and pitched well and the bullpen was great.  Didi Gregorius and Giancarlo Stanton each hit homeruns for the Yankees. 

Gray pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run with no walks and seven strikeouts.  Gray earned the win.  Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning striking out the side, David Robertson pitched a perfect inning and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Ben Heller pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Aroldis Chapman pitched to two batters and struck them both out. 

Brandon McCarthy started for the Braves and he pitched three innings giving up two hits and four runs with three walks and a strikeout.  He took the loss in the game.  Jose Ramirez pitched an inning giving up a hit, Arodys Vizcaino pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and he struck out two and A.J. Minter pitched an inning and struck out two.  Sam Freeman pitched an inning giving up a hit, Peter Moylan pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run and he struck out two and Rex Brothers pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk, Stanton had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Gregorius had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Aaron Hicks drew a walk, Shane Robinson had a hit and an RBI and Brandon Drury had a hit.  Tyler Wade had a hit, Judge and Robinson each hit a double and Gregorius and Stanton each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Ender Inciarte had a hit, Isranel Wilson drew a walk and Ozzie Albies had a hit.  Tyler Flowers had an RBI, Nick Markakis had a hit and Cleuluis Rondon had a hit.  Albies hit a double and the Braves were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Freeman and Kazmar Jr. each committed an error.  In the first Gregorius hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the third Stanton hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Flowers hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the eighth Robinson hit an RBI double to extend the Yankees lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees completed their exhibition schedule at 18-13 and will have a couple of days off before the season begins Thursday afternoon in Toronto.  It will be Luis Severino making the start against J.A. Happ.

Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk, Sanchez had two hits and an RBI and Gleyber Torres drew a walk.  Jace Peterson drew a walk, Billy McKinney drew a walk and Jake Cave drew a walk.  Sanchez hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  McKinney committed two errors. 

In the fifth Preston Tucker hit an RBI double to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Sanchez hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the seventh Carlos Franco hit a two-run double to give the Braves a 3-1 lead which would be the final score.

The New York Yankees win again on a walk-off homerun by Miguel Andujar


The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 4-3.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Miguel Andujar had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense. 

Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched two innings giving up two hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out two.  Chance Adams pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks, Jonathan Holder plitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Ben Heller pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Brian Keller pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Cody Carroll pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and he picked up the win. 

Gary Sanchez had a hit, Eric Kratz drew a walk and Tyler Austin drew a walk.  Jorge Saez had a hit and an RBI, Brandon Drury had a hit and drew a walk and Andujar had two hits and two RBI.  Tyler Wade had a hit and an RBI, Sanchez and Andujar each hit a double and Drury hit a triple.  Andujar hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Sanchez had a pickoff. 

In the third Carlos Santana hit a sac fly to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Jorge Alfaro was hit by a pitch and the Phillies took a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Wade hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Andujar hit an RBI double to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Saez hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the ninth Scott Kingery hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the bottom of the ninth Andujar hit a solo walk-off homerun to win the game for the Yankees 4-3.
