New York Mets get shutout by the Colorado Rockies


The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-0.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Asdrubal Cabrera and Jay Bruce each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Matz lost his third game of the season pitching six innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Paul Sewald pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Robert Gsellman pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts. 

Chad Bettis pitched seven innings giving up six hits and no runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Bettis won his fourth game of the season.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Wade Davis saved his 13th game of the season pitching a perfect inning. 

Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Cabrera had two hits and Bruce had two hits.  Todd Frazier drew a walk, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Amed Rosario had a hit.  Bruce hit a double and the Mets were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Cespedes had a stolen base and Nido had a passed ball.  Nimmo and Cespedes each had a outfield assist. 

Charlie Blackmon had a hit and drew a walk, Nolan Arenado had a hit and an RBI and Trevor Story drew a walk.  Chris Iannetta had a hit, Noel Cuevas had a hit and Carlos Gonzalez drew a walk.  Pat Valaika had a hit, David Dahl had a hit and an RBI and Arenado hit a homerun.  The Rockies were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Story and Blackmon each had a stolen base. 

In the first Arenado hit a solo homerun to give the Rockies a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Dahl hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0 and that was the final score.
