New York Yankees drop one to the Philadelphia Phillies

The New York Yankees lost to the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.  The game took place at BayCare 

Ballpark in Clearwater, Florida and the final score was 6-2.  Corey Kluber started for the Yankees and 

he pitched ok, Luis Cessa had a tough outing out of the pen.  Estrada hit a homerun and Jay Bruce had a 

double.  

Kluber pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  Kluber

took his first loss of the spring.  Brooks Kriske pitched to one batter and got him out, Nick Nelson pitched 

1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning with a 

strikeout and Cessa pitched an inning giving up four hits and three runs with two strikeouts.  Luis

Medina pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk.  

Zack Wheeler started for the Phillies and he pitched three innings giving up a hit and a walk and he 

struck out four, Vince Velasquez pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts.

David Hale pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one, Archie Bradley pitched an 

an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Connor Brogdon pitched an inning giving up a hit

and he struck out three.  Brandon Kintzler pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two 

strikeouts.  

Gleyber Torres drew a walk, Bruce had a hit and drew a walk and Estrada had a hit and an RBI.  Clint

Frazier had a hit, Ryan LaMarre had a hit and an RBI and Austin Wells had a hit.   Tyler Wade had 

two hits, Bruce and Wade each hit a double and Estrada hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-7 with 

runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Frazier had a stolen base and Torres and LaMarre

each were caught stealing and LaMarre had an outfield assist.  

Andrew McCutchen had a hit, Roman Quinn drew a walk and Rhys Hoskins had a hit.  Rodolfo Duran

had two hits and an RBI, Bryce Harper drew a walk and Alec Bohm had two hits and drew a walk.  

Nick Maton had a hit and an RBI, Didi Gregorius had an RBI and Luis Garcia had a hit and an RBI.  

Jean Segura had an RBI and drew a walk, Bryson Stott had a hit and an RBI and Brad Miller drew a 

walk.  Bohm, Maton and Garcia each hit a double and the Phillies were 4-8 with runners in scoring

position and left eight men on base.  Quinn had a stolen base and Knapp committed an error.  Marchan

had a passed ball.  

In the third Gregorius was hit by a pitch and a run scored, Segura hit a sac fly and the Phillies grabbed

a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth LaMarre hit a sac fly and the lead was cut to 2-1.  In the seventh Maton hit an 

RBI double, Garcia hit an RBI double and Stott hit an RBI single making it 5-1 Phillies.  In the eighth

Duran hit an RBI single to extend the Phillies lead to 6-1.  In the ninth Estrada hit a solo homerun to 

cut the lead to 6-2 but that would be the final score.
