New York Yankees lose on a walk-off to the Toronto Blue Jays

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida and the final score was 5-4.  Corey Kluber started for the Yankees and he was just ok.  The bullpen was good but not great and the offense was led by Aaron Judge who hit two homeruns. 

Kluber pitched four innings and gave up six hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out four.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run, Darren O’Day pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one.  Chad Green took his second loss of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a run. 

T.J. Zeuch started for the Blue Jays and he pitched four innings giving up four hits and four runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Trent Thornton pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk, Anthony Castro pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Rafael Dolis pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and he picked up his first win of the season.

Judge had three hits and two RBI, Brett Gardner drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew two walks, Gio Urshela had a hit and two RBI and Torres hit a double.  Judge hit two homeruns and the Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Judge had an outfield assist. 

Marcus Semien had a hit, Bo Bichette had three hits and two RBI and Vlad Guerrero Jr. had two hits.  Randal Grichuk drew a walk, Cavan Biggio had a hit and drew a walk and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a hit.  Rowdy Tellez had two hits, Alejandro Kirk had a hit and two RBI and Josh Palacios had a hit.  Biggio hit a triple, Kirk and Bichette each hit a homerun and the Blue Jays were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Bichette had a stolen base. 

In the first Judge hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Kirk hit a two-run homerun to give the Jays a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the third Bichette hit a solo homerun to push the Jays lead to 3-1.  In the fourth Judge hit a solo homerun and Urshela hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth a wild pitch tied the game at four.  In the bottom of the ninth Bichette hit a walk-off solo homerun giving the Jays a 5-4 victory. 

The Yankees lost two out of three in the series and 4 out of six on the road trip.  They will now be off on Thursday and try and regroup before beginning a three-game set with the Tampa Bay Rays at home on Friday night.
