A.J. Griffin pitched eight innings for Texas and picked up his third win of the season.  He gave up four hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Tony Barnette pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one.

New York Yankees offense is silent in shutout loss to the Oakland Athletics

The New York Yankees lost to the Oakland Athletics by the score of 2-0 on Friday night. The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and pitched pretty well besides throwing a lot of pitches. Adam Warren was very good in relief. The Yankees offense basically did nothing, I don’t think a runner even reached third base on the night.
Sabathia pitched six innings giving up two runs on eight hits. He walked two and struck out six. Sabathia took his third loss of the season. Warren pitched three innings giving up two hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Brett Gardner had two hits, Robinson Cano had a hit and Ichiro Suzuki had a hit. Jayson Nix had two hits, Chris Stewart drew a walk and Cano and Nix each hit a double. The Yankees were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Suzuki had an outfield assist.

A.J. Griffin got his third win of the season pitching seven innings giving up six hits and no runs. He walked one and struck out four. Sean Doolittle pitched 1 2/3 perfect innings with a strikeout and Grant Balfour struck out the only batter that he faced.

Adam Rosales had two hits and an RBI, Jed Lowrie had three hits and Yoenis Cespedes drew two walks. Josh Donaldson had a hit, Derek Norris had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Josh Reddick drew a walk. Freiman had three hits, Rosales hit a homerun and the Athletics were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.

Rosales led off the game on the first pitch with a homerun. The Athletics had a 1-0 lead until the sixth when Norris hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 and that was the final score.

The Yankees record fell to 17-11 and the Athletics improved to 16-13. The two teams will play game two of their three game series on Saturday afternoon.
