New York Mets end six game losing streak with a victory in Cincinnati


The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night.  The game took place at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio and the final score was 7-6.  P.J. Conlon started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Adrian Gonzalez led the offense with three hits, including two homeruns. 

Conlon pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Paul Sewald pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs, Robert Gsellman earned his fourth win of the season pitching 2 2/3 innings and giving up a hit and a run and Jeurys Familia saved his 10th game of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Homer Bailey lost his fifth game of the season pitching four innings and giving up eight hits and six runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Jackson Stephens pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Jared Hughes pitched two perfect inning with four strikeouts and Raisel Iglesias pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out a batter. 

Michael Conforto had two hits and an RBI, Yoenis Cespedes had two hits and an RBI and Jay Bruce had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks.  Gonzalez had three hits and two RBI, Jose Lobaton had a hit and Conlon had a hit.  Amed Rosario had two hits and an RBI, Lobaton hit a doubule and Cespedes and Rosario each hit two doubles.  Conforto and Bruce each hit a homerun and Gonzalez hit two homeruns.  The Mets were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Joey Votto drew a walk, Eugenio Suarez had two hits and an RBI and Scooter Gennett had two hits and two RBI.  Adam Duvall had a hit, Tucker Barnhart had two hits and an RBI and Alex Blandino drew a walk.  Scott Schebler had an RBI, Billy Hamilton had a hit and an RBI and Suarez, Gennett and Barnhart each hit a double.  Hamilton, Suarez and Gennett each hit a homerun.  The Reds were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the first Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Rosario hit a sac fly to push the lead to 2-0.  In the third Bruce hit a two-run homerun to extend the Mets lead to 4-0.  Gonzalez hit a solo homerun and it was 5-0.  In the bottom of the third Hamilton hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the fourth Cespedes hit a sac fly to push the lead to 6-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Gennett hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 6-2.  Barnhart hit an RBI double and it was 6-3.  In the fifth Gonzalez hit a solo homerun to make it 7-3.  Suarez hit a solo homerun and it was 7-4.  Schebler hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 7-5 and in the eighth Gennett hit a solo homerun to cut it to 7-6 and that would be the final score.

The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds behind Rafael Montero brilliance


The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio and the final score was 2-0.  Rafael Montero started for the Mets and he pitched great.  The Mets offense only managed five hits but that was enough. 

Montero pitched 8 1/3 shutout innings giving up three hits and four walks and he struck out eight and won his third game of the season.  AJ Ramos pitched to two batters and struck them both out and left the bases loaded to save his 26th game of the season. 

Homer Bailey lost his seventh game of the season pitching six innings and giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Tim Adleman pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit.  Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI, Kevin Plawecki had a hit and an RBI and Reyes, Flores and Plawecki each hit a double.  The Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Reyes had a stolen base and Reyes was caught stealing.  Montero had a pickoff. 

Phillip Ervin had a hit, Zack Cozart had a hit and drew a walk and Joey Votto had a hit and drew a walk.  Adam Duvall drew a walk, Eugenio Suarez drew a walk and Votto and Cozart each hit a double.  The Reds were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Suarez was picked off and Ervin committed an error. 

In the first Flores hit an RBI double and Plawecki hit an RBI double to make it 2-0 and that would be the final score.  The New York Mets will finish their series with the Reds on Thursday afternoon.
