The New York Yankees were drilled by the Toronto Blue Jays as Tanaka doesn't have it


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 8-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The Yankees offense was led by Aaron Judge who had two hits and two walks. 

Tanaka pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and eight runs with seven of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out six and he lost his 12th game of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched to one batter and struck him out, Jonathan Holder pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Giovanny Gallegos pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Marco Estrada won his 10th game pitching seven innings and giving up three hits and a run.  He walked three and struck out four.  Mat Dermody pitched to two batters and retired them both, Tom Koehler pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up a walk and Carlos Ramirez pitched a perfect inning. 

Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks, Todd Frazier had a hit and drew a walk and Clint Frazier drew a walk.  T. Frazier and Judge each hit a double and Judge hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Castro committed an error. 

Teoscar Hernandez had two hits and an RBI, Josh Donaldson had a hit and Jose Bautista had an RBI and drew two walks.  Kevin Pillar had a hit, Russell Martin had a hit and two RBI and Miguel Montero had a hit.  Kendrys Morales drew a walk, Ryan Goins had a hit and four RBI and Hernandez, Martin and Goins each hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the first Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Bautista hit an RBI ground out to tie the game at one.  In the third Hernandez hit a solo homerun to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead.  In the fourth Martin hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 4-1.  In the sixth Goins hit a grand slam to make it a 8-1 game and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.

New York Yankees fall to the Toronto Blue Jays as late rally falls short



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 4-2.  Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and he pitched ok.  The Yankees offense couldn't get much going, Brian McCann hit a two run homerun in the ninth for the only runs. 

Nova pitched six innings giving up eight hits and four runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  He took his third loss of the season.  Nick Goody pitched 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and Richard Bleier made his major league debut pitching to two batters and retiring them both. 

Marco Estrada pitched eight innings for the Jays giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked three and struck out six and earned his third win of the season.  Aaron Loup pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a strikeout and Drew Storen earned his third save of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew a walk, Carlos Beltran had a hit and McCann had a hit and two RBI.  Mark Teixeira had a hit, Starlin Castro drew two walks and Aaron Hicks had a hit.  Hicks and Teixeira each hit a double.  McCann hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base. 

Jose Bautista drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had a hit and Edwin Encarnacion had a hit and two RBI.  Michael Saunders had a hit and an RBI, Russell Martin had a hit and Drew Barney had a hit.  Kevin Pillar had a hit, Ryan Goins had two hits and an RBI and Encarnacion, Goins, Saunders and Pillar each hit a double.  Goins hit a homerun and the Blue Jays were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Barney was caught stealing.  

In the first Encarnacion hit an RBI double giving the Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the third Encarnacion had an RBI ground out to extend the lead to 2-0.  Saunders hit an RBI double and it was 3-0 Jays.  In the fifth Goins hit a solo homerun making it a 4-0 game.  In the ninth McCann hit a two run homerun to cut the lead to 4-2 but that would be the final score. 

The Yankees and Jays will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

The New York Yankees keep their hopes alive with win over the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the final score was 6-4 in ten innings.  Luis Severino started and pitched very well, Andrew Miller blew a save but got the win.  Greg Bird hit a big three run homerun and Carlos Beltran also had a big homerun. 

Severino pitched six innings giving up two runs on three hits.  He walked three and struck out three.  Justin Wilson pitched a perfect inning, Dellin Betances gave up a hit and two walks and he struck out two in one inning of work and Miller pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Miller picked up his third win of the season. 

Marco Estrada pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Aaron Loup pitched to one batter and gave up a hit, Liam Hendricks pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts and Drew Hutchison pitched giving up a hit and a walk without recording an out.  Ryan Tepera pitched an inning giving up a walk, Mark Lowe lost his third game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two of them being earned and Steve Delabar pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits and drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk and Alex Rodriguez drew a walk.  Brian McCann had two hits and an RBI, Beltran had two hits and two RBI and Bird had two hits and three RBI.  Dustin Ackley drew a walk, Chris Young drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had three hits.  Ellsbury hit two doubles, Bird and Gregorius each hit a double.  Beltran and Bird each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Beltran had an outfield assist. 

Ben Revere had a hit, Russell Martin drew a walk and Josh Donaldson drew two walks.  Jose Bautista drew two walks, Edward Encarnacion had a hit and an RBI and Justin Smoak had a hit and an RBI.  Dioner Navarro had a hit and an RBI, Kevin Pillar had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Matt Hague drew a walk, Pillar hit a double and a homerun.  Navarro and Encarnacion each hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Pillar had two stolen bases, Navarro committed an error and Bautista had two outfield assists. 

In the first McCann hit an RBI single and Beltran hit a sac fly to make it 2-0 Yankees.  In the third Pillar hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fourth Smoak hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Beltran hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the ninth Navarro hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the tenth Bird hit a three run homerun to give the Yankees a 6-3 lead and in the bottom of the tenth Encarnacion hit a solo homerun to make it 6-4 which would be the final score.  The two teams have split the first two games of three and will play the rubber game on Wednesday night.

The New York Yankees are swept at home by the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-0 Jays.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched well and the bullpen did their job.  The Yankees offense didn't do much of anything once again. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up two runs on three hits.  He walked none and struck out five and took his fifth loss of the season.  Adam Warren gave up a hit and a walk without recording an out, Justin Wiilson pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings with two strikeouts and Branden Pinder pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Chasen Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two. 

Marco Estrada won his tenth game of the season pitching 6 1/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked three and struck out six.  LaTroy Hawkins pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one, Aaron Sanchez pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Roberto Osuna pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and he saved his tenth game of the season. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Mark Teixeira drew a walk and Brian McCann drew a walk.  Carlos Beltran had a hit and drew a walk, Chase Headley had a hit and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Troy Tulowitzki drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had two hits and an RBI and Jose Bautista had two hits and an RBI.  Dioner Navarro drew a walk, Chris Colabello had a hit and Cliff Pennington drew a walk.  Donaldson and Bautista hit a homerun and the Blue Jays were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Donaldson hit a solo homerun to give the Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Bautista hit a solo homerun to give them a 2-0 lead and that was the final score.  The Yankees were swept in the three game series and will have the day off on Monday.  They will begin a three game series in Cleveland on Tuesday night and then they will play three in Toronto over the weekend.
