New York Yankees win behind Corey Klubers no-hitter

The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 2-0.  Corey Kluber started for the Yankees and he was brilliant, historic as well as he pitched a no-hitter.  The Yankees offense didn’t do much but Gleyber Torres had two hits in his return to the lineup.

Kluber pitched nine innings giving up no runs or hits and walking one while striking out nine.  He was one walk away from a perfect game, that is how dominant he was.  It was a masterful performance for him and the Yankees first no hitter since David Cone Pitched a perfect game in 1999.

Hyeon-Jong Yang started for the Rangers and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with four walks and two strikeouts.  He picked up his first loss of the season.  Brett Martin pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out both batters, Taylor Hearn pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Hunter Wood pitched an inning with a strikeout.

DJ LeMahieu had an RBI and drew a walk, Luke Voit drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Torres had two hits and drew a walk, Kyle Higashioka drew two walks and Tyler Wade had a hit and an RBI.  Wade hit a triple and the Yankees were 0-1 with runner sin scoring position and left two men on base.

Charlie Culberson drew a walk and the Rangers left one man on base.

In the sixth Wade hit an RBI triple and LeMahieu hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead and that would be the final score.

The two teams will finish their four-game series on Thursday afternoon.  This will be the rubber game as the Yankees have won two of the games and Texas has won one.
