New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins in extra innings


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4 in 11 innings.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen pitched well.  Michael Conforto had three hits and four RBI to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard started and pitched five innings giving up ten hits and four runs with seven strikeouts.  Chris Mazza pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two walks and three strikeouts, Luis Avilan pitched to one batter and struck him out and Seth Lugo pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning with a walk, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and Paul Sewald pitched an inning with two strikeouts and he won his first game of the season. 

Sandy Alcantara pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with six strikeouts.  Jarlin Garcia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Jose Urena pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs and Brian Moran pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two.  Adam Conley pitched giving up a run and a walk and took his tenth loss of the season and Jeff Brigham pitched 1/3 of an inning walking two. 

Brandon Nimmo had an RBI and drew a walk, Jeff McNeil had two hits and Robinson Cano had a hit and drew a walk.  J.D. Davis had two hits, Conforto had three hits, four RBI and drew a walk and Amed Rosario had a hit.  Todd Frazier drew a walk, Davis hit a double and Conforto hit two homeruns.  The Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base. 

Jon Berti had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Miguel Rojas had a hit and Neil Walker had two hits and drew a walk.  Jorge Alfaro had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Isan Diaz had two hits and two RBI and Harold Ramirez had a hit.  Austin Dean had a hit which was a double, Walker hit two doubles and Diaz hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Berti had four stolen bases and Rojas and Alfaro each had a stolen base.  Ramirez was caught stealing and Walker committed an error. 

In the second Diaz hit a solo homerun and Berti hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the third Diaz hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Alfaro hit an RBI single making it 4-0.  In the seventh Conforto hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 4-2 and in the bottom of the ninth Conforto hit a two-run homerun tying the game at four.  In the 11th Nimmo drew an RBI walk to literally walk-off the Mets with a  5-4 victory. 

New York Yankees lose a close one in extra innings to the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 2-1.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees but only pitched a couple of scoreless innings.  The bullpen arms which were many also pitched well.  The Yankees didn’t have a batter who had more then a hit. 

Montgomery pitched two innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Ben Heller pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one, CC Sabathia pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Stephen Tarpley pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Tyler Lyons pitched to one batter and walked him, Luis Cessa pitched an inning with two walks and otwo strikeouts and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Zack Britton pitched an inning with a  strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning with a strikeout and Chad Green pitched two perfect innings with five strikeouts.  Cory Gearrin lost his third game of the season pitching giving up a hit and a run. 

Yonny Chirinos pitched three innings giving up a hit and a run, Andrew Kittredge pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Brendan McKay pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.  Diego Castillo pitched 1 1/3 innings, Emilio Pagan pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two and Colin Poche pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Oliver Drake pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout.  Chaz Roe pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three and Peter Fairbanks pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and won his second game of the season. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and drew a walk.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Cameron Maybin had a hit and an RBI and Austin Romine had a hit.  Mike Ford had a hit which was a double and Maybin hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Tarpley had a pickoff. 

Tommy Pham had a hit, Austin Meadows had two hits and drew a walk and Travis d’Arnaud had a hit.  Ji-Man Choi had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Matt Duffy had a hit and drew a walk and Kevin Kiermaier had a hit and an RBI.  d’Arnaud hit a double and Kiermaier and Choi each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Meadows and Pham were each caught stealing and Pham was picked off. 

In the third Maybin hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Kiermaier hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the 12th Choi hit a walk-off homerun to give the Rays a 2-1 victory. 


New York Mets are doubled up by the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 8-4.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  J.D. Davis had three hits to lead the offense. 

Matz pitched five innings giving up nine hits and six runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Matz lost his 10th game of the season.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit, Walker Lockett pitched giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and Brad Brach pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk.  Luis Avilan pitched to one batter and got him out, Edwin Diaz pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Caleb Smith pitched six innings giving up seven hits and four runs with four walks and three strikeouts and he picked up his 10th win of the season.  Tyler Kinley pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Brian Moran pitched to one batter and struck him out and Jose Quijada pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one.  Ryne Stanek pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Amed Rosario had a hit and four RBI, Jeff McNeil had a hit and Pete Alonso had a hit.  Davis had three hits, Wilson Ramos had a hit and drew a walk and Todd Frazier had a hit and drew a walk.  Michael Conforto drew two walks, Juan Lagares had a hit and drew a walk and Brandon Nimmo drew a walk.  Davis hit a double, Rosario hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

Jon Berti had four hits, Miguel Rojas had two hits and an RBI and Starlin Castro had a hit.  Jorge Alfaro had two hits, five RBI and drew a walk, Harold Ramirez had two hits and two RBI and Isan Diaz had a hit.  Austin Dean had a hit, Curtis Granderson drew a walk and Berti hit a double.  Alfaro hit two homeruns and the Marlins were 4-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the second Alfaro hit a solo homerun to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  In the third Rojas hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Alfaro hit a grand slam to give the Marlins a 6-0 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Rosario hit a grand slam to cut the lead to 6-4.  In the seventh Ramirez hit a two-run single to push the lead to 8-4 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets double up the Cincinnati Reds


The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio and the final score was 6-3.  Marcus Stroman started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the Mets bullpen pitched well.  Michael Conforto led the offense with two hits and three RBI. 

Stroman pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Brad Brach won his fifth game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and he struck out one, Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up two walks and three strikeouts and Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run.  Justin Wilson picked up his fourth save of the season pitching an inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Trevor Bauer lost his 13th game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and five runs.  He walked none and struck out eight.  Matt Bowman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Sal Romano pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and an RBI, Jeff McNeil had a hit and Pete Alonso had a hit and drew a walk.  Robinson Cano had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI and Wilson Ramos had a hit.  Conforto had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit, Alonso, Cano, Conforto, Ramos and McNeil each hit a double.  Conforto, Davis and Nimmo each hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base. 

Phillip Ervin drew a walk, Joey Votto had a hit and drew three walks and Eugenio Suarez had a hit.  Aristides Aquino had an RBI, Tucker Barnhart had a hit and an RBI and Iglesias had a hit.  Jose Peraza had a hit, Kyle Farmer had a hit and an RBI and Bauer drew a walk.  Alex Blandino drew a walk, Farmer, Barnhart each hit a homerun and the Reds were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the first Cano hit an RBI double and Conforto hit a three-run homerun giving the Mets a 4-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Aquino hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the fifth Farmer hit a solo homerun making it a 4-2 game.  In the sixth Davis hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-2.  In the bottom of the eighth Barnhart hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-3 and in the ninth Nimmo hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 6-3.  The final score was 6-3.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.  The game took place at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio and the final score was 3-2.  Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Todd Frazier led the offense with two of their three hits. 

Wheeler pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and two runs with one being earned.  He walked one and struck out six.  Justin Wilson lost his second game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  Seth Lugo pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Anthony DeSclafani pitched six innings giving up three hits and two runs with one being earned.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Lucas Sims pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Amir Garrett pitched to two batters and got them both out and Joel Kuhnel pitched to one batter and got him out and earned his first win of the season.  Raisel Iglesias pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts and earned his 34th save of the season. 

Brandon Nimmo had an RBI, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Frazier had two hits.  Amed Rosario had a hit, Wheeler had an RBI and Rosario hit a double.  The Mets were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Frazier committed an error. 

Phillip Ervin had two hits, Joey Votto had a hit and drew a walk and Eugenio Suarez had a hit.  Aristides Aquino had a hit and an RBI, Tucker Barnhart had a hit and Jose Iglesias had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jose Peraza had a hit, Christian Colon had a hit and an RBI and Votto hit a double.  The Reds were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Votto committed an error. 

In the first Aquino hit an RBI single to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.  Iglesias hit an RBI single and the lead was 2-0.  In the third Wheeler hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Nimmo was hit by a pitch and a run scored to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Colon hit an RBI single to give them a 3-2 lead and that would be the final score.  The play was replay challenged but the call on the field was upheld.  The Reds won the game 3-2.
