New York Mets squeak by the Colorado Rockies

 

The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 2-1.  Marcus Stroman started for the Mets and he pitched very well.  Pete Alonso and Michael Conforto each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Stroman pitched eight innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Stroman earned his third win of the season.  Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a hit and he earned his second save of the season. 

Antonio Senzatela started for the Rockies and he pitched six innings giving up five hits and two runs with one being earned.  He struck out four batters and took his third loss of the season.  Robert Stephenson pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Mychal Givens pitched an inning giving up a hit and Daniel Bard pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Alonso had two hits and Conforto had two hits.  Jeff McNeil had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI and Conforto and McNeil each hit a double.  The Mets were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Nimmo had a stolen base. 

Raimel Tapia had a hit, Trevor Story had two hits and Charlie Blackmon had a hit and an RBI.  Dom Nunez drew a walk, Story hit a double and the Rockies were 1-1 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Story was caught stealing and Cron committed an error.  Blackmon had an outfield assist. 

In the second McNeil hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Davis hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the seventh Blackmon hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets blow late lead in loss to Philadelphia Phillies

 The New York Mets were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night.  The game took place 

at Citizens Bank Ballpark in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 5-3.  Jacob deGrom 

started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets bullpen didn't pitch well and Michael Conforto and 

deGrom led the offense with two hits each.  

deGrom pitched six innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Miguel

Castro pitched an inning giving up a hit, Trevor May pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and 

three runs with two being earned and he walked and struck out a batter and Aaron Loup pitched 2/3 of an 

inning giving up a hit and two unearned runs.  

Matt Moore pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with four walks and four 

strikeouts.  Brandon Kintzler pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Sam Coonrod

 and he struck out three and Connor Brogdon pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and

he picked up his second win of the season.  Jose Alvarado pitched an inning giving up three hits and 

a run with two strikeouts.  He picked up his first save of the season.  

Kevin Pillar had a hit, Francisco Lindor had a hit and drew a walk and Conforto had two hits and an 

RBI.  Pete Alonso had a hit and drew a walk, J.D. Davis  had a hit and drew a walk and James McCann

had a hit and an RBI.  Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk, deGrom had two hits and an RBI

and the Mets were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Guillorme committed

an error and Pillar had an outfield assist.  

Andrew McCutchen had a hit and drew a walk, Rhys Hoskins had two hits andBryce Harper had an RBI

and drew two walks.  J.T. Realmuto had a hit and an RBI, Alec Bohm had a hit and Didi Gregorius had 

a hit and an RBI.  Brad Miller had a hit, Hoskins hit a double and the Phillies were 2-4 with runners

in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gregorius committed an error.  

In the fourth McCann hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  deGrom hit an RBI single and it 

was 2-0 Mets.  In the eighth Harper was hit by pitch to score a run, Realmuto hit an RBI single, Bohm 

reached on a fielder's choice that scored two runs and Gregorius hit a sac fly to give the Phillies a 5-2

lead.  In the ninth Conforto hit an RBI single and it cut the lead to 5-3 but that was as close as they 

got.  The final out was a deep drive by Alonso that Harper caught against the fence to preserve the

victory.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.  It was the Mets first game 

as their opening series was cancelled due to Covid protocols with the Washington Nationals who will

finally begin their season on Tuesday.

New York Mets lose big to the Miami Marlins

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Sunday.  The game took place at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Florida and the final score was 10-2.  Mike Montgomery started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very well.  Edwin Diaz also had a rough outing out of the bullpen.  Michael Conforto had two hits to lead the offense. 

Montgomery pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  He took his first loss of the spring.  Ryley Gilliam pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run and Miguel Castro pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.  Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning, Diaz pitched an inning giving up four hits and three runs with three strikeouts and Arodys Vizcaino pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Daniel Castano pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with five strikeouts and he won his second game of the spring.  John Curtiss pitched 1 ½ innings giving up a walk and he struck out one, Richard Bleier pitched a perfect inning and Adam Cimber pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two.  Yimi Garcia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and an RBI, Francisco Lindor drew a walk and Conforto had two hits for the Mets offense.  J.D. Davis drew a walk, Luis Guillorme had a hit and Wilfredo Tovar had a hit and an RBI.  Albert Almora Jr. had a hit, Conforto hit a double and Nimmo and Tovar each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Almora Jr. committed an error and Montgomery had a pickoff. 

JJ Bleday drew a walk, Starling Marte had two hits and an RBI and Jesus Aguilar had three hits and two RBI.  Joe Dunand had a hit, Garrett Cooper had a hit and Brian Miller had a hit.  Brian Anderson drew a walk, Adam Duvall had two hits and two RBI and Jazz Chisholm Jr. had a hit.  Eddy Alvarez had a hit and two RBI, Jorge Alfaro had two hits and an RBI and Nick Fortes had a hit and an RBI.  Marte, Aguilar and Dunand each hit a double and Alvarez hit a triple.  Aguilar and Duvall each hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 8-13 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Chisholm Jr. was caught stealing. 

In the bottom of the first Aguilar hit an RBI double, Cooper hit an RBI single and Duvall hit an RBI single.  Alfaro hit an RBI single and the lead was 4-0.  In the bottom of the second Aguilar hit a solo homerun pushing the lead to 5-0.  In the third Nimmo hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Marte hit an RBI single extending the Marlins lead to 6-1.  In the bottom of the fifth Duvall hit a solo homerun and it was 7-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Alvarez hit a two-run triple pushing the lead to 9-1.  Fortes hit an RBI single and it was 10-1 Marlins.  In the ninth Tovar hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 10-2.  That would be the final score of the game.

New York Mets defeat the St. Louis Cardinals

 The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at

Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 7-5.  David Peterson started for the Mets 

and he did not pitch very well.  Michael Conforto had three hits and two RBI to lead the offense.  

Peterson pitched four innings giving up five hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout.  

Aaron Loup earned his first win of the spring pitching an inning and giving up two hits and a run with

a strikeout, Arodys Vizcaino pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Yennsy Diaz pitched

an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk, Francisco Lindor had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and 

Conforto had three hits and two RBI.  Pete Alonso had a hit and two RBI, Bruce Maxwell had a hit and 

Dom Smith had a hit and an RBI.  Luis Guillorme drew two walks, Patrick Mazeika had a hit and the

Mets were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Nimmo had a stolen base 

and Guillorme was caught stealing.  

In the first Jose Rondon hit a two-run single to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first

Conforto hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 2-1.  Smith hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In

the third Rondon hit a sac fly giving the Cardinals a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Matt Carpenter hit an RBI

double pushing the Cardinals lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Lindor drew an RBI walk to cut

the lead to 4-3 and Conforto hit an RBI single tying the game at four.  Alonso hit a two-run single

making it a 6-4 game in favor of the Mets.  J.D. Davis hit into a double play but a run scored pushing

their lead to 7-4.  In the ninth Justin Toerner hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 7-5 and that would be the 

final score.

New York Mets get shutout by Miami Marlins in Game One

The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins in Game 1 of their doubleheader on Tuesday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-0.  Rick Porcello started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very well, Corey Oswalt pitched well in relief.  J.D. Davis and Michael Conforto each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Porcello lost his fourth game of the season pitching three innings and giving up five hits and four runs.  He walked none and struck out four.  Oswalt pitched four innings giving up a hit and no runs with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Daniel Castano pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up six hits and no runs.  He walked three and struck out one.  Richard Bleier won his first game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning.  Brad Boxberger pitched an inning giving up a hit and Brandon Kintzler pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Davis had two hits and Conforto had two hits.  Pete Alonso drew a walk, Dom Smith had a hit and Wilson Ramos had a hit and drew a walk.  Jeff McNeil had a hit and drew a walk, Davis and Nimmo each hit a double and the Mets were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Davis was picked off and Ramos committed an error. 

Jonathan Villar drew a walk, Brian Anderson had two hits and Lewin Diaz had a hit and an RBI.  Lewis Brinson had two hits and an RBI, Miguel Rojas had a hit and two RBI and Anderson hit two doubles.  The Marlins were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Villar had a stolen base and Villar committed an error.  Castano had a pickoff. 

In the second Brinson hit an RBIsingle and Rojas hit a two-run single to give the Marlins a 3-0 lead.  In the third Diaz hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets lose big to the Atlanta Braves

The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night.  The game took place

at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 7-1.  Michael Wacha started for the Mets

and he didn't pitch very well.  Michael Conforto and Robinson Cano led the offense with two hits

each. 

Wacha pitched four innings giving up seven hits and five runs with two walks and five strikeouts. 

Wacha lost his first game of the season, Franklyn Kilome pitched four innings giving up two hits and

two runs with five strikeouts. 

Touki Toussaint pitched four innings giving up three hits and no runs with three walks and five

strikeouts.  Luke Jackson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a

strikeout, Josh Tomlin won his first game of the season pitching 2 1/3 innings with three strikeouts.

A.J. Minter pitched an giving up a hit and he struck out two and Darren O'Day pitched an inning

giving up a walk. 

Brandon Nimmo drew two walks, Jeff McNeil had a hit and drew two walks and Pete Alonso had a

hit.  Conforto had two hits, Cano had two hits and an RBI and Dom Smith drew a walk.  Cano hit a

double and the Mets were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

In the first Ozuna hit a two-run homerun to give the Braves a 2-0 lead.  In the second Tyler Flowers

hit an RBI double to push the lead to 3-0.  Acuna hit an RBI double and it was 4-0.  Ozzie Albies

hit an RBI single to make it 5-0.  In the fifth Cano hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the bottom

of the fifth Inciarte hit an RBI single to push the lead to 6-1 and in the bottom of the sixth Acuna Jr.

hit a solo homerun making it 7-1 and that was the final score.

New York Mets blow save and lose in ten innings to the Atlanta Braves

The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.  The game took place at

Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-3 in ten innings. 

Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well, the bullpen blew the game and Michael

Conforto led the offense with three hits. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and seven strikeouts. 

Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning, Dellin Betances pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and

he struck out one and Justin Wilson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and he blew his first

save of the season.  Hunter Strickland pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs

with two being earned and Drew Smith pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout. 

Max Fried pitched  five innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and five

strikeouts.  Josh Tomlin pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, A.J. Minter pitched

an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Darren O'Day pitched an inning giving up a hit

and he struck out two and Luke Jackson pitched two innings giving up four hits and an unearned run

with a win. 

Jeff McNeil had an RBI, Jake Marisnick had a hit and Pete Alonso had a hit.  Yoenis Cespedes

had a hit, Dom Smith had an  RBI and Wilson Ramos had a hit and drew a walk.  Conforto had three

hits and drew a walk, Amed Rosario had two hits and an RBI and Conforto hit a double, Rosario hit

a triple and the Mets were 3-12 with runners in scoring and left ten men on base.  Nunez had a

stolen base and McNeil committed an error. 

Freddie Freeman drew a walk, Marcell Ozuna had a hit and an RBI and Adam Duvall had a hit and

an RBI.  Dansby Swanson had a hit and an RBI, Johan Camargo had two hits and Austin Riley

had a hit.  Ender Inciarte had an RBI, Matt Adams had a hit and William Contreras had a hit and

an RBI.  Contreras hit a double and Duvall and Ozuna each hit a homerun.  The Braves were 2-6

with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the second Duvall hit a solo homerun giving the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Rosario hit an

RBI triple tying the game at one.  McNeill hit a sac fly and the Mets grabbed a 2-1 lead.  In the ninth

Ozuna hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the tenth Swanson hit an RBI single, Inciarte

grounded out and a run scored and Contreras hit an RBI double to give the Braves a 5-2 lead and

that would be the final score.  The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday night.

New York Mets pound the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 10-3.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched great.  Michael Conforto led the offense with three hits. 

deGrom won his 11th game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up two hits and no runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Tyler Bashlor pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Drew Gagnon pitched an inning giving up two hits and three unearned runs with a strikeout. 

Robert Dugger lost his fourth game of the season pitching two innings and giving up six hits and seven runs with six of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out three.  Wei-Yin Chen pitched three innings giving up four hits and two runs with three strikeouts, Josh D. Smith pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Adam Conley pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Hector Noesi pitched an inning with a walk and three strikeouts.  

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Jeff McNeil had a hit and two RBI and Pete Alonso had a hit and three RBI with a walk.  Conforto had three hits and an RBI, Wilson Ramos had an RBI and Robinson Cano had a hit.  Joe Panik drew a walk, Todd Frazier had a hit and Amed Rosario had two hits and an RBI.  deGrom had a hit, Rajai Davis had a hit and an RBI and McNeil, Cano, Rosario and Nimmo each hit a double.  Conforto hit two doubles.  Alonso hit a homerun and the Mets were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Frazier committed an error. 

Neil Walker had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Jorge Alfaro had a hit and two RBI and Isan Diaz had a hit.  Austin Dean drew a walk, Tyler Heineman had a hit and it was a double.  Alfaro hit a homerun and the Marlins were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Brinson committed an error. 

In the first McNeil hit an RBI double, Conforto hit an RBI double and Ramos hit a sac fly giving the Mets a 3-0 lead.  In the second McNeil hit a sac fly and Alonso hit a three-run homerun pushing the lead to 7-0.  In the third Rosario hit an RBI double and Nimmo hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 9-0.  In the seventh Davis hit an RBI single and the lead was 10-0.  In the ninth Walker hit an RBI single and Alfaro hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 10-3 but that was the final score.

New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins in extra innings


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4 in 11 innings.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen pitched well.  Michael Conforto had three hits and four RBI to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard started and pitched five innings giving up ten hits and four runs with seven strikeouts.  Chris Mazza pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two walks and three strikeouts, Luis Avilan pitched to one batter and struck him out and Seth Lugo pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning with a walk, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and Paul Sewald pitched an inning with two strikeouts and he won his first game of the season. 

Sandy Alcantara pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with six strikeouts.  Jarlin Garcia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Jose Urena pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs and Brian Moran pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two.  Adam Conley pitched giving up a run and a walk and took his tenth loss of the season and Jeff Brigham pitched 1/3 of an inning walking two.

Davis had two hits, Conforto had three hits, four RBI and drew a walk and Amed Rosario had a hit.  Todd Frazier drew a walk, Davis hit a double and Conforto hit two homeruns.  The Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base. 

Jon Berti had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Miguel Rojas had a hit and Neil Walker had two hits and drew a walk.  Jorge Alfaro had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Isan Diaz had two hits and two RBI and Harold Ramirez had a hit.  Austin Dean had a hit which was a double, Walker hit two doubles and Diaz hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Berti had four stolen bases and Rojas and Alfaro each had a stolen base.  Ramirez was caught stealing and Walker committed an error. 

In the second Diaz hit a solo homerun and Berti hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the third Diaz hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Alfaro hit an RBI single making it 4-0.  In the seventh Conforto hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 4-2 and in the bottom of the ninth Conforto hit a two-run homerun tying the game at four.  In the 11th Nimmo drew an RBI walk to literally walk-off the Mets with a  5-4 victory.

New York Mets win in dramatic fashion over the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-6.  Marcus Stroman started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Ahmed Rosario had three hits and Michael Conforto and J.D. Davis each had two to lead the offense. 

Stroman pitched six innings giving up nine hits and four runs.  He walked three and struck out nine.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts, Robert Gsellman pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Luis Avilan won his third game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and striking out two. 

Stephen Strasburg pitched seven innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and six strikeouts.   Daniel Hudson pitched an inning and gave up a hit and he struck out one and Sean Doolittle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up six hits and four runs and he lost his fourth game of the season and blew his fifth save of the season. 

Jeff McNeil drew a walk, Rosario had three hits and Conforto had two hits and an RBI.  Pete Alonso had a hit and two RBI, Davis had two hits and an RBI and Wilson Ramos had a hit and drew a walk.  Todd Frazier had a hit and three RBI.  Joe Panik had a hit, Rosario and Davis each hit a double.  Alonso, Davis and Frazier each hit a homerun and the Nationals were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Conforto had a stolen base. 

Trea Turner had two hits and drew two walks, Adam Eaton had three hits and Anthony Rendon had two hits and three RBI.  Juan Soto had three hits and two RBI, Matt Adams had two hits and Victor Robles had a hit and drew a walk.  Soto hit a double and Rendon hit a triple.  Soto and Rendon each hit a homerun and the Nationals were 2-13 with runners in scoring position and left 8 men on base.  Turner, Soto and Eaton each had a stolen base and Robles was caught stealing. 

In the fourth Rendon hit an RBI triple and Soto hit a two-run homerun to give the Nationals a 3-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Alonso hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  Davis hit a solo homerun and the game was tied at three.  In the seventh Rendon hit a two-run homerun to give the Nationals a 5-3 lead.  In the ninth a wild pitch made it 6-3 Nationals.  In the bottom of the ninth Frazier hit a three-run homerun to tie the game and Conforto hit an RBI single to win the game and give the Mets a 7-6 victory.

New York Mets defeat the Miami Marlins to sweep the doubleheader


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Walker Lockett started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The Mets bullpen did pitch well and Michael Conforto and Pete Alonso each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lockett pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Robert Gsellman piltched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Jeurys Familia won his third game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a walk and he struck out one and Seth Lugo earned his second save of the season pitching two perfect innings with two strikeouts. 

Sandy Alcantara pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs.  He walked three and struck out four.  Jeff Brigham pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with a strikeout and Jarlin Garcia pitched 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts.

Davis had two hits and an RBI.  Davis hit a double and a homerun and Conforto and Alonso also hit homeruns.  The Mets were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base. 

Miguel Rojas had a hit and drew a walk, Isan Diaz drew a walk and Brian Anderson had three hits.  Curtis Granderson had two hits and two RBI, Harold Ramirez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Bryan Holaday had two hits and an RBI.  Anderson hit two doubles, Holaday and Granderson each hit a double and Holaday hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Diaz was caught stealing. 

In the first Conforto hit a two-run single to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Ramirez hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Holaday hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  Granderson hit a two-run double and the Marlins had a 4-2 lead.  In the seventh Davis hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-3 and Conforto hit a solo homerun to tie the game at four.  Alonso hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 5-4 lead and that was the final score.

New York Mets defeat the Chicago White Sox in extra innings


The New York Mets defeated the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 5-2.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched great.  Amed Rosario had four hits to lead the offense and Michael Conforto added three hits. 

Syndergaard pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up five hits and an unearned run.  He walked one and struck out 11.  Justin Wilson pitched to one batter and gave up a hit, Seth Lugo faced two batters and got them both out and Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a run, two walks and he struck out two.  Diaz blew his fifth save of the season.  Robert Gsellman earned his second win of the season pitching two perfect innings with two strikeouts. 

Reynaldo Lopez pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with four walks and six strikeouts.  Jace Fry pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Evan Marshall pitched two innings giving up a hit and Aaron Bummer pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Alex Colome pitched an inning with a strikeout, Jose Ruiz pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and he lost his second game of the season and  Josh Osich pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout. 

Jeff McNeil had two hits and two RBI, Conforto had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Pete Alonso had two hits and drew a walk.  Robinson Cano had an RBI, J.D. Davis drew a walk and Todd Frazier had a hit and drew a walk.  Rosario had four hits and Tomas Nido had an RBI.  Conforto hit a double, McNeil and Conforto each hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-13 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base, Frazier and McNeil each committed an error.  Leury Garcia had a hit, John Jay had ah it and Ryan Goins had a hit and drew a walk.  Tim Anderson had an RBI, Yolmer Sanchez had two hits and drew two walks and Adam Engel had a hit.  Goins hit a double and the White Sox were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Sanchez and Garcia each had a stolen base.  Garcia committed an error. 

In the second Nido hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Cano hit an RBI ground out to push the lead to 2-0.  In the sixth Abreu reached on a fielding error and a run scored to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the ninth Anderson hit a sac fly to tie the score and the game went into extra innings.  In the 11th McNeil hit a two-run homerun and Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 5-2 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two on Wednesday.

New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins


The New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the final score was 3-2.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well but not for long.  The Mets bullpen was great and Michael Conforto had four hits to lead the offense. 

Matz pitched four innings giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Robert Gsellman pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two walks, Luis Avilan pitched an inning with a  walk and he won his second game of the season and Jeurys Familia pitched to one batter and got him out.  Justin Wilson pitched a perfect inning, Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Edwin Diaz saved his 21st game of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout. 

Michael Pineda pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with one of them earned.  He walked none and struck out three.  Pineda lost his fifth game of the season.  Zack Littell pitched an inning with a strikeout, Blake Parker pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks and Matt Magill pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Jeff McNeil had a hit, Conforto had four hits and an RBI and Pete Alonso drew a walk.  Robinson Cano had an RBI, Todd Frazier drew a walk and J.D. Davis had a hit.  Amed Rosario had a hit which was a double and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Marwin Gonzalez had two hits, Nelson Cruz drew a walk and Eddie Rosario had two hits.  C.J. Cron had two hits, Max Kepler had an RBI and Miguel Sano drew a walk.  Jonathan Schoop had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Luis Arraez drew a walk and Jason Castro drew a walk.  Mitch Garver had a hit, Cron hit two doubles and Schoop hit a homerun.  The Twins were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Schoop was caught stealing and Schoop committed an error.  Castro and Garver each had a passed ball.  

In the first Cano hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Ramos reached on a fielding error and it was 2-0.  In the third Schoop hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fourth Kepler hit an RBI ground out and the game was tied at two.  In the fifth Conforto hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 3-2 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of two on Wednesday afternoon.  They will then head to San Francisco to take on the Giants in a four-game series beginning on Thursday night.

New York Mets drop one to the Colorado Rockies


The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Michael Conforto and Dom Smith each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and ten strikeouts.  deGrom lost his sixth game of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts, Drew Gagnon pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout and Wilmer Font pitched to one batter and got him out.  Hector Santiago pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Antonio Senzatela pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and he won his fifth game of the season.  Bryan Shaw pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Scott Oberg pitched an inning with a strikeout and Wade Davis pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Conforto had two hits and an RBI, Smith had two hits and drew a walk and Todd Frazier had a hit.  Amed Rosario had a hit, deGrom drew a walk and Rosario and Smith each hit a double.  Conforto hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Lagares committed an error. 

Raimel Tapia had two hits and an RBI, Trevor Story had two hits and David Dahl had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Daniel Murphy had two hits and an RBI, Ian Desmond had a hit and an RBI, Tony Wolters had a hit.  Story hit two doubles, Tapia hit a double and Murphy and Dahl each hit a homerun.  The Rockies were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Tapia had a stolen base and Dahl was caught stealing.  Rodgers committed an error. 

In the third Tapia hit an RBI double to give the Rockies a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Desmond hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the sixth Conforto hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the eighth Dahl hit a two-run homerun to push the Rockies lead to 4-1.  Murphy hit a solo homerun and it was 5-1 which was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.

New York Mets lose a close hard fought battle to get swept in Washington


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Thursday.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 7-6.  Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very well.  Robinson Cano had three hits and Michael Conforto had three RBI to lead the Mets offense. 

Wheeler lost his third game of the season pitching six innings and giving up 11 hits and six runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Daniel Zamora pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a run and a walk with a strikeout, Robert Gsellman pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked two and Tyler Bashlor pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Anibal Sanchez pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.  Erick Fedde pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with two strikeouts, Dan Jennings pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and he won his first game of the season and Justin Miller pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Kyle Barraclough pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Wander Suero pitched an inning giving up a hit and Sean Doolittle picked up his seventh save of the season pitching an inning and giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.

Adam Eaton had a hit, Victor Robles had a hit and Anthony Rendon had a hit and an RBI.  Juan Soto drew a walk, Howie Kendrick had a hit and Gerardo Parra had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Kurt Suzuki had three hits and two RBI, Wilmer Difo drew two walks and Adrian Sanchez had a hit.  Michael A. Taylor had a hit and Brian Dozier drew a walk.  Kendrick, Suzuki and Parra each hit a double.  Parra hit a homerun and the Nationals were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Parra had a stolen base. 

 In the first Rendon hit an RBI single, Kendrick hit into a double play but a run scored an Parra hit an RBI double to give the Nationals a 3-0 lead.  Suzuki hit an RBi double and the lead was pushed to 4-0.  In the third Cano hit an RBI double and Conforto hit a three-run homerun to tie the game at four.  In the fifth Parra hit a two-run homerun to give the Nationals a 6-4 lead.  In the seventh Suzuki hit an RBI single to make it a 7-4 game.  In the ninth Ramos hit an RBI single and Lagares hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-6 but that would be the final score of the game. 

The Mets were swept in the three-game series and will head to Miami to take on the Marlins in a three-game set beginning on Friday night.

New York Mets beat up on the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 11-2.  Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well and J.D. Davis and Michael Conforto each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched seven innings giving up nine hits and two runs with a walk and 11 strikeouts.  Wheeler picked up his third win of the season.  Tyler Bashlor pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Daniel Zamora pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one. 

Pablo Lopez pitched three innings giving up ten hits and ten runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Lopez lost his fifth game of the season.  Austin Brice pitched two innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and four strikeouts and Jose Quijada pitched three innings giving up a hit and four walks with a strikeout.

Curtis Granderson had two hits, Martin Prado had a hit and Starlin Castro had a hit and drew a walk.  Neil Walker had two hits and an RBI, Brian Anderson had a hit and an RBI and Miguel Rojas had a hit and drew a walk.  Rosell Herrera had a hit and drew a walk, Isaac Galloway had a hit and the Marlins were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Anderson had an outfield assist. 

In the first a wild pitch, Ramos hit an RBI single, Nimmo drew an RBI walk and Rosario hit a grand slam to give the Mets a 7-0 lead.  Cano hit an RBI single and the lead pushed to 8-0.  In the second Conforto hit a solo homerun and it was 9-0.  In the third Walker hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 9-1 and Anderson hit a sac fly to make it a 9-2 game.  In the bottom of the third McNeil hit a solo homerun and in the fourth Nimmo hit an RBI single to make the score 11-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Mets lose to the Milwaukee Brewers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-1.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well, the bullpen was good.  Michael Conforto had two hits to lead the offense.

Matz pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Matz lost his second game of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk, Luis Avilan pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Drew Gagnon pitched to one batter and got him out. 

Brandon Woodruff pitched five innings giving up six hits and a run with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Woodruff won his fourth game of the season.  Alex Claudio pitched a perfect inning,Junior Guerra pitched a perfect inning and Josh Hader pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with five strikeouts.

Lorenzo Cain had a hit and an RBI, Yasmani Grandal drew two walks and Ryan Braun had three hits and two RBI.  Mike Moustakas had two hits, Hernan Perez had three hits and Woodruff had a hit.  Moustakas and Perez each hit a double and Braun and Cain each hit a homerun.  The Brewers were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Perez and Braun each had a stolen base and Aguilar committed an error. 

In the first Ramos hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Cain hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the fifth Braun hit a two-run homerun to give the Brewers a 3-1 lead and that would be the final score of the game.

New York Mets drop a close one to the Philadelphia Phillies


The New York Mets were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 3-2.  Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Jeff McNeil and Michael Conforto each had two hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Wheeler pitched seven innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Wheeler won his first game of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Jake Arrieta started for the Phillies and he pitched eight innings giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Arrieta won his third game of the season.  Adam Morgan pitched to one batter and got him out and Hector Neris pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two to earn his second save of the season.

McNeil had two hits, Pete Alonso had a hit and Conforto had two hits and an RBI.   J.D. Davis had a hit, Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI and Travis d’Arnaud drew a walk.  Dom Smith drew a walk, Conforto hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Conforto had a stolen base. 

Scott Kingery had a hit and an RBI, Bryce Harper drew a walk and Rhys Hoskins drew walk.  J.T. Realmuto had two hits, Odubel Herrera had a hit and Cesar Hernandez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Maikel Franco had an RBI, Hernandez and Kingery each hit a homerun and the Phillies were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.

New York Mets lose a slugfest to the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Sunday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 12-9.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The Mets bullpen wasn’t very good either.  Jeff McNeil, Peter Alonso and Michael Conforto each had two hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Wheeler pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up four hits and seven runs with seven walks and two strikeouts.  Wheeler took his first loss of the season.  Tim Peterson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with five walks and two strikeouts, Luis Avilan pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a strikeout and Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Seth Lugo pitched an inning with three strikeouts. 

Max Scherzer pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with no walks and seven strikeouts.  Scherzer won his first game of the season.  Matt Grace pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout, Trevor Rosenthal pitched to one batter and walked him and Wander Suero pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Joe Ross pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with a walk and Sean Doolittle pitched to two batters and retired them both.  He had a strikeout. 

McNeil had two hits and an RBI, Alonso had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Conforto had two hits and three RBI.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis had a hit and Luis Guillorme had a hit and drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit, Brandon Nimmo had a hit and an RBI and Conforto, Alonso and Nimmo each hit a double.  Conforto and Alonso each hit a homerun and the Mets were 5-14 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ramos committed an error.

In the second Scherzer hit an RBI single to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  Robles hit an RBI single, Eaton hit a two-run double and Kendrick hit a sac fly pushing the lead to 5-0.  In the second Ramos hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the fifth Suzuki had an RBI walk and a wild pitch made it a 7-1 game.  In the sixth Zimmerman had an RBI walk, Suzuki hit an RBI single and it was 9-1 Nationals.  In the seventh Rendon hit a three-run homerun extending the lead to 12-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Nimmo hit an RBI double, McNeil hit an RBI single and Alonso hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 12-6.  In the ninth Conforto hit a three-run homerun cutting the lead to 12-9 and that would be the final score. 

The Mets will have the day off on Monday and being a brief two-game series with the Minnesota Twins at home on Tuesday night.

New York Mets defeat the Miami Marlins to earn three game sweep


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 6-4.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he was brilliant.  The Mets bullpen struggled and Pete Alonso and Michael Conforto each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and 14 strikeouts.  deGrom earned his second victory of the season.  Luis Avilan pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two walks, Robert Gsellman pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Edwin Diaz earned his third save of the season pitching to one batter and getting him out. 

Trevor Richards pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and seven strikeouts and took his first loss of the season.  Nick Anderson pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and Austin Brice pitched two innings giving up three hits and two unearned runs with a strikeout. 

Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Alonso had two hits and an RBI and Robinson Cano had a hit and an RBI.  Conforto had two hits and drew a walk, Keon Broxton had a hit and Amed Rosario had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Dominick Smith had ah it, an RBI, deGrom had a hit and an RBI and Wilson Ramos had a hit and an RBI.  Conforto, Alonso and Cano each hit a double, Rosario hit a triple and deGrom hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.

In the second Rosario hit an RBI triple giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the t hird deGrom hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  Alonso hit an RBI double and it was 3-0 Mets.  In the seventh Cano hit an RBI double increasing the lead to 4-0.  In the eighth Smith hit an RBI single, Ramos hit an RBI single and it was 6-0 Mets.  In the ninth Prado hit an RBI double, Brinson had an RBI ground out, Herrera hit an RBI double and Rojas an RBI single cutting the lead to 6-4 but that would be the final score.  The Mets swept the three-game series and will now head home for their home opener on Thursday afternoon vs. the Washington Nationals.
