New York Yankees rough up the Baltimore Orioles

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.  The game took place

at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 9-3.  Gerrit Cole started for the

Yankees and he pitched very well.  The bullpen was good and DJ LeMahieu led the offense with four

hits. 

Cole pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out seven

and won his second game of the season.  Luis Avilan pitched 1/3 of an inning and walked a guy,

Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Brooks Kriske pitched an

inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Asher Wojciechowski pitched five innings giving up four hits and five runs with four earned. 

He walked two and struck out seven and took his first loss of the season.  Evan Phillips pitched

an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts, Shawn Armstrong

pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout and Cody Carroll pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up

two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Paul Fry pitched 2/3 of an inning and had a

strikeout. 

LeMahieu had four hits and two RBI, Aaron Judge had two hits and two RBI and Gleyber Torres

drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit, two RBI

and drew a walk and Mike Ford had an RBI and drew a walk.  Gio Urshela drew a walk, LeMahieu

hit a double and had a homerun.  Judge and Hicks each hit a homerun and the Yankees were

3-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Austin Hays drew a walk, Jose Iglesias had a hit and an RBI and Pat Valaika had a hit.  Renato Nunez

had a hit and drew a walk, Dwight Smith Jr. had a hit and two RBI and Pedro Severino had a hit. 

DJ Stewart drew two walks, Iglesias, Nunez and Severino each hit a double and Smith Jr. hit a

homerun.  The Orioles were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Severino

committed two errors and Hays had an outfield assist. 

In the first LeMahieu hit a solo homerun and Ford hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the

bottom of the first Iglesias hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Judge hit a solo

homerun to push the lead to 3-1.  Hicks hit a two-run homerun to make it a 5-1 game.  In the sixth

LeMahieu hit an RBI single and Judge hit an RBI single extending the lead to 7-1.  In the bottom of

the seventh Smith Jr. hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 7-3.  In the ninth Stanton hit an RBI

single and a wild pitch scored a run to make it 9-3 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will complete their brief two-game series on Thursday night.

New York Mets pound the Boston Red Sox

The New York Mets defeated the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Fenway

Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 8-3.  David Peterson made his major league

debut for the Mets and pitched well.  Jeff McNeil, J.D. Davis and Robinson Cano each had two hits

to lead the Mets offense. 

Peterson pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.

Peterson won his first game of the season and career.  Drew Smith struck out the only batter that he

faced, Justin Wilson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Dellin Betances pitched an inning

giving up a hit.  Hunter Strickland pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Matt Hall started for the Red Sox and he pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs

with two walks and three strikeouts.  Austin Brice pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and

two runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Colten Brewer pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he

struck out four and Ryan Brasier pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk. 

Brandon Workman pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Amed Rosario had a hit and two RBI, Pete Alonso drew a walk and McNeil had two hits and two

RBI.  Davis had two hits and two RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk.  Cano had

two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Wilson Ramos had a hit and Brandon Nimmo had a hit, an RBI

and drew a walk.  Cano, Nimmo and McNeil each hit a double and Davis hit a homerun.  The Mets

were 4-13 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Conforto had a stolen base,

McNeil comitted an error and Davis had an outfield assist. 

Jose Peraza had two hits, Rafael Devers had two hits and Kevin Pillar had three hits and an RBI. 

Jackie Bradley Jr. had an RBI, Kevin Plawecki had three hits and Andrew Benintendi drew two

walks.  Plawecki and Devers each hit a double and Pillar hit two doubles.  The Red Sox were 2-10

with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Plawecki committed an error. 

In the second Cano hit an RBI double and Rosario hit a two-run single to make it 3-0 Mets.  In the

third Devers hit into a fielder's choice and a run scored to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Davis hit

a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-1.  In the sixth Pillar hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 5-2.

In the eighth Nimmo hit an RBI double and McNeil hit a two-run double to increase the Mets lead

to 8-2.  In the ninth Bradley Jr. hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 8-3 and that would be the final

score.  The two teams will now head to New York to play two games at Citi Field beginning on

Wednesday night.

New York Mets defeat the Boston Red Sox

The New York Mets defeate
d the Boston Red Sox on Monday night.  The game took place at Fenway

Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 7-4.  Michael Wacha started for the Mets and

he pitched well.  Amed Rosario, Jeff McNeil and Wilson Ramos each had two hits to lead the Mets

offense. 

Wacha pitched five innings giving up five hits and a run with a walk and four strikeouts.  Wacha won

his first game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run, Jeurys

Familia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and Seth Lugo earned

his first save of the season pitching 1 1/3 perfect innings and he struck out one. 

Josh Osich started for the Red Sox and he pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with a

walk and a strikeout.  Jeffrey Springs pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and five runs with a

walk and two strikeouts, Heath Hembree pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Zack Godley

pitched four innings giving up four hits and he struck out seven.  Phillips Valdez pitched an inning

giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Rosario had two hits, Pete Alonso had a hit and two RBI and McNeill had two hits.  J.D. Davis had a

hit and drew a walk, Michael Conforto had a hit and two RBI and Wilson Ramos had two hits. 

Robinson Cano drew a walk, Dom Smith had a hit and three RBI and Brandon Nimmo had a hit. 

Ramos hit a double and Conforto, Alonso and Smith each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-2 with

runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  McNeil was caught stealing and picked off. 

Andrew Benintendi had a hit, J.D. Martinez drew a walk and Rafael Devers had a hit. 

Xander Bogaerts had a hit and two RBI, Mitch Moreland had two hits and two RBI and Alex

Verdugo had a hit.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and drew a walk.  Jose Peraza had a hit, Devers hit a

double and Moreland and Bogaerts each hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 1-8 with runners in

scoring position and left five men on base.  Benintendi had a stolen base, Peraza and Devers each

committed an error and Osich had a pickoff. 

In the second Conforto hit a two-run homerun giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the third Alonso hit a

two-run homerun to push the Mets lead to 4-0.  In the fourth Smith hit a three-run homerun and the

Mets lead grew to 7-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Moreland hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to

7-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Bogaerts hit a solo homerun to make it 7-2 and in the eighth Bogaerts

hit an RBI ground out and Moreland hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-4 and that would be the

final score. 

The two teams will play game two of a four game home and  home series on Tuesday night.

New York Mets blow save and lose in ten innings to the Atlanta Braves

The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.  The game took place at

Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-3 in ten innings. 

Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well, the bullpen blew the game and Michael

Conforto led the offense with three hits. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and seven strikeouts. 

Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning, Dellin Betances pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and

he struck out one and Justin Wilson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and he blew his first

save of the season.  Hunter Strickland pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs

with two being earned and Drew Smith pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout. 

Max Fried pitched  five innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and five

strikeouts.  Josh Tomlin pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, A.J. Minter pitched

an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Darren O'Day pitched an inning giving up a hit

and he struck out two and Luke Jackson pitched two innings giving up four hits and an unearned run

with a win. 

Jeff McNeil had an RBI, Jake Marisnick had a hit and Pete Alonso had a hit.  Yoenis Cespedes

had a hit, Dom Smith had an  RBI and Wilson Ramos had a hit and drew a walk.  Conforto had three

hits and drew a walk, Amed Rosario had two hits and an RBI and Conforto hit a double, Rosario hit

a triple and the Mets were 3-12 with runners in scoring and left ten men on base.  Nunez had a

stolen base and McNeil committed an error. 

Freddie Freeman drew a walk, Marcell Ozuna had a hit and an RBI and Adam Duvall had a hit and

an RBI.  Dansby Swanson had a hit and an RBI, Johan Camargo had two hits and Austin Riley

had a hit.  Ender Inciarte had an RBI, Matt Adams had a hit and William Contreras had a hit and

an RBI.  Contreras hit a double and Duvall and Ozuna each hit a homerun.  The Braves were 2-6

with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the second Duvall hit a solo homerun giving the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Rosario hit an

RBI triple tying the game at one.  McNeill hit a sac fly and the Mets grabbed a 2-1 lead.  In the ninth

Ozuna hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the tenth Swanson hit an RBI single, Inciarte

grounded out and a run scored and Contreras hit an RBI double to give the Braves a 5-2 lead and

that would be the final score.  The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday night.

New York Mets win Opener over the Atlanta Braves

The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Friday.  The game took place at Citi Field

in Flushing, New York and the final score was 1-0.  Jacob DeGrom started for the Mets and pitched

great.  The Mets bullpen pitched well and Yoenis Cespedes hit a solo homerun for the only offense. 

deGrom started for the Mets and pitched five innings giving up a hit and a walk with eight strikeouts.

Seth Lugo picked up the win pitching two shutout innings and giving up a hit with three strikeouts,

Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Edwin Diaz picked up the

save pitching an inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Mike Soroka pitched six innings giving up four hits and no runs with three strikeouts.  Chris Martin

pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Shane Greene pitched an inning

giving up a hit. 

Brandon Nimmo had two hits, Jeff McNeil had a hit and Cespedes had a hit and an RBI. 

Robinson Cano had a hit, Amed Rosario had a hit, Jeff McNeil hit a double and Cespedes hit a

homerun.  The Mets were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Ramos

had a passed ball. 

Ronald Acuna Jr. had a hit, Freddie Freeman drew two walks and Marcell Ozuna had a hit. 

Dansby Swanson had a hit, Ozuna hit a double and the Braves were 0-3 with runners in scoring

position and left five men on base. 

In the seventh Cespedes hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead and that would be the final

score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.
