The Yankees get stunned in the ninth by the Boston Red Sox



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 7-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched really well, the Yankees bullpen blew the lead for him.  Starlin Castro had four hits to lead the offense which could of scored more runs but left a lot of guys on base. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up a run on four hits.  He walked three and struck out none.  Adam Warren pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Tommy Layne pitched to one batter and struck him out and Blake Parker gave up a run without recording an out.  Dellin Betances pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and four runs with a walk, he blew his fifth save of the season and took his sixth loss of the season. 

Eduardo Rodriguez pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with no walks or strikeouts.  Heath Hembree pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and an unearned run with a walk and two strikeouts, Junichi Tazawa pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out the side and Robby Scott pitched three innings giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout.  Joe Kelly won his third game of the season pitching an inning giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits and Gary Sanchez had two hits.  Castro had four hits and two RBI, Billy Butler had a hit and two RBI and Didi Gregorius had two hits and drew a walk.  Chase Headley had two hits and an RBI, Tyler Austin had a hit and drew a walk and Sanchez hit a double.  Austin and Castro each hit a double and Gregorius hit two doubles.  The Yankees were 5-16 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Headley, Gardner and Gregorius each had a stolen base and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Dustin Pedroia had a hit and drew a walk, Xander Bogaerts drew a walk and David Ortiz had three hits and three RBI.  Mookie Betts had two hits and an RBI, Hanley Ramirez had a hit and three RBI and Travis Shaw drew a walk.  Sandy Leon had a hit and Jackie Bradley Jr. drew two walks.  Andrew Benintendi had a hit, Ortiz and Benintendi each hit a double.  Ortiz and Ramirez each hit a homerun adn the Red Sox were 4-13 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Leon had a passed ball. 

In the first Castro hit an RBI single, Butler hit a sac fly and it was 2-0 Yankees.  Butler hit an RBI single in the third to make it 3-0 Yankees and Headley hit an RBI single to push the lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the third Ortiz hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the fourth Castro hit an RBI single making it 5-1 Yankees.  The score would stay that way until the eighth inning when Ortiz hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-2.  In the ninth Ortiz hit an RBI single cutting it to 5-3 and Betts hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-4.  Ramirez hit a walk-off three run homerun to give the Red Sox a 7-5 victory. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.

The New York Mets get shutout by the Washington Nationals



The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Wednesday evening.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 1-0.  Robert Gsellman pitched well for the Mets and the bullpen was ok.  The Mets offense only managed three hits. 

Gsellman pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and no runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Josh Smoker pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Fernando Salas lost his seventh game of the season pitching two innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

Tanner Roark pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs with four walks and seven strikeouts.  Roark won his 15th game of the season.  Blake Treinen pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Mark Melancon pitched a perfect inning saving his 42nd game of the season. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and Yoenis Cespedes drew a walk.  Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Jay Bruce had a hit and TJ Rivera drew a walk.  Rene Rivera drew a walk and the Mets were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Trea Turner had two hits, Daniel Murphy had a hit and drew a walk and Bryce Harper drew a walk.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and an RBI, Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and Roark had a hit.  Ramos hit a homerun and the Nationals were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Turner and Harper were each caught stealing.  Ramos had a passed ball. 

In the seventh Ramos hit a solo homerun to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  1-0 would be the final score as the Mets lost two out of three in this series.  The Mets have the day off on Thursday and they will begin a series with the Minnesota Twins on Friday night.   

New York Yankees lose a tough one with a sloppy ninth



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-0.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and pitched well.  The Yankees bullpen pitched pretty well and the offense didn't do much. 

Pineda pitched four innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Tommy Layne pitched a perfect inning, Luis Severino pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Tyler Clippard pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up a hit and two unearned runs and he struck out one.  Betances lost his fifth game of the season. 

Clayton Kershaw pitched five innings giving up a hit and he struck out five.  Grant Dayton pitched a perfect inning striking out the side, Pedro Baez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Luis Avilan pitched 1 1/3 innings with a walk and three strikeouts.  Avilan won his second game of the season and Kenley Jansen saved his 44th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and striking out the side. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Starlin Castro had two hits and Chase Headley had a hit and drew a walk.  The Yankees were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Sanchez, Castro and Betances each committed an error. 

Justin Turner had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Adrian Gonzalez drew a walk and Yasmani Grandal had a hit.  Josh Reddick had a hit, Grandal hit a double and Turner hit a double.  The Dodgers were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Seager had a stolen base and Turner committed an error. 

In the ninth Turner hit an RBI double to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead and Grandal reached on a fielders choice error to make it 2-0 which would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost two out of three in the series and three of their last four after winning seven in a row.  The Yankees will now head on the road to take on Boston for four games starting on Thursday night.

The New York Mets get crushed by the Washington Nationals



The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Monday night.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. and the final score was 8-1.  Rafael Montero started for the Mets and he didn't pitch well at all.  The Mets bullpen pitched pretty well and the offense was led by Jose Reyes and Travis d'Arnaud each having two hits. 

Montero pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and six runs with four walks and two strikeouts.  He took his first loss of the season.  Gabriel Ynoa pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and a strikeout, Jim Henderson pitched to one batter and retired him and Sean Gilmartin pitched two innings with a strikeout.  Logan Verrett pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out three and Josh Edgin pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Mat Latos pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with three walks and four strikeouts.  Trevor Gott pitched to two batters and retired them both, Sean Burnett pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Reynaldo Lopez pitched three scoreless innings walking two batters and he picked up his third win of the season. 

Reyes had two hits and drew a walk, Matt Reynolds drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had an RBI.  Michael Conforto drew a walk, Jay Bruce had a hit and drew a walk and d'Arnaud had two hits.  Alejandro De Aza drew a walk, Reyes hit a double and the Mets were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Trea Turner had two hits, Jayson Werth had a hit and drew a walk and Daniel Murphy had three hits.  Bryce Harper had an RBI and drew three walks, Anthony Rendon had a hit and three RBI and Wilson Ramos had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks.  Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and an RBI, Latos had a hit and an RBI and Murphy hit two doubles.  Latos and Rendon each hit a homerun and the Nationals were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Turner and Werth each had a stolen base. 

In the first Cespedes hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Harper had an RBI walk to tie the game at one.  Ramos had an RBI walk to give the Nationals a 2-1 lead.  Latos hit a solo homerun in the second to extend the lead to 3-1.  Rendon hit a three run homerun and the score was 6-1 still in the second.  Ramos hit an RBI single in the fourth to push the lead to 7-1 and Zimmerman hit an RBI single to make it 8-1 which would be the final score. 

The Mets and Nationals will play game two of three on Tuesday night.   

New York Yankees lose second in a row as they fall to the Los Angeles Dodgers



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-2.  Bryan Mitchell made the start and didn't make it past the third inning.  The Yankees defense was poor and their offense didn't do much. 

Mitchell pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and six runs with two of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out two.  Mitchell took his first loss of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched to two batters and struck them both out, Richard Bleier pitched four shutout innings giving up a walk and he struck out three and James Pazos pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.  Ben Heller pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Jose De Leon pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  He picked up his second win of the season.  Pedro Baez pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Grant Dayton pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Joe Blanton pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Josh Fields pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and Starlin Castro had two hits and an RBI.  Brian McCann drew a walk, Chase Headley drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI.  Ronald Torreyes had a hit, Castro hit a double and Castro and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Judge and Sanchez each committed an error. 

Chase Utley had a hit, Corey Seager had two hits and an RBI and Justin Turner had a hit and an RBI.  Adrian Gonzalez had a hit and an RBI, Yasmani Grandal had a hit and Josh Reddick had a hit.  Howie Kendrick had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Yasiel Puig had a hit and an RBI and Andrew Toles had a hit.  Reddick hit a double and Puig and Turner each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Kendrick and Utley each had a stolen base. 

In the first Gonzalez hit an RBI groundout to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.  In the second Utley reached on a fielding error by Judge and two runs scored making it a 3-0 game.  Seager hit an RBI single still in the second and it was 4-0 Dodgers.  Castro hit a solo homerun in the second to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the third Kendrick hit an RBI single to push the Dodgers lead to 5-1.  A throwing error on Sanchez allowed another run to score and it was 6-1 Dodgers still in the third.  Judge hit a solo homerun in the fifth to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the eighth Puig hit a solo homerun to extend the Dodgers lead to 7-2 and in the ninth Turner hit a solo homerun to make it 8-2 which would be the final score. 

The Yankees have lost two games in a row.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.  The Yankees still remain two games behind the Baltimore Orioles for the second wild card.
