New York Yankees win in thrilling extra inning game

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night in extra innings.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-6 in 11 innings.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen was good except for Michael King who got hit a little bit.  Jose Trevino led the offense with three hits. 

Montgomery pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  King pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk, Lucas Luetge pitched to one batter and got him out and Clay Holmes pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Wandy Peralta pitched an inning giving up a hit and Clarke Schmidt won his third game of the season pitching two innings and giving up an unearned run and he struck out one.  Schmidt won his third game of the season. 

Bruce Zimmermann started for the Orioles and he pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  Logan Gillaspie pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Keegan Akin pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three walks and he struck out six and Dillon Tate pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout.  Bryan Baker pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with one being earned.  He lost his second game of the season and blew his first save. 

Aaron Hicks had two hits, Anthony Rizzo had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Gleyber Torres had two hits and two RBI.  Isiah Kiner-Falefa had two hits and an RBI, Marwin Gonzalez had a hit and drew a walk and Trevino had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Rizzo and Trevino each hit a homerun and Torres hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Austin Hays had a hit and two RBI, Ryan Mountcastle had two hits and Adley Rutschman had a hit.  Ramon Urias had a hit and drew a walk, Roughned Odor had a hit and four RBI and Jorge Mateo had a hit.  Urias hit a double and Hays and Odor each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 1-9 with runners in scroring position and left four men on base.  Mateo had a stolen base. 

In the bottom of the first Rizzo hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the third Trevino hit a solo homerun pushing the Yankees lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Torres hit a solo homerun and it was 3-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Odor hit an RBI groundout cutting the lead to 3-1.  In the seventh Hays hit a solo homerun and Odor hit a three-run homerun and suddenly the Orioles had a 5-3 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Torres hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-4.  Trevino hit an RBI single and the game was tied at five.  In the 11th Hays hit an RBI groundout to give the Orioles a 6-5 lead.  In the bottom of the 11th Kiner-Falefa hit an RBI single to tie the game at six and Trevino hit a walk-off single to give the Yankees a 7-6 victory.   

New York Yankees lose to the Baltimore Orioles

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-4.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he pitched really well except for one inning.  Aaron Judge was the Yankees offense with two hits and three RBI. 

Cole pitched eight innings giving up seven hits and five runs.  He walked none and struck out 11 and took his first loss of the season.  Wandy Peralta pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run. 

Jordan Lyles started for the Orioles and he pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with three being earned.  He walked two and struck out eight and won his third game of the season.  Felix Bautista pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out one, Jorge Lopez saved his fifth game of the season and he pitched an inning with a walk. 

Anthony Rizzo had a hit and drew a walk, Judge had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Aaron Hicks drew a walk, Estevan Florial drew a walk and Jose Trevino had a hit and an RBI.  Judge hit two homeruns and the Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Rizzo committed an error. 

Cedric Mullins had a hit, Austin Hays had a hit and two RBI and Trey Mancini had two hits.  Ryan Mountcastle had an RBI, Roughned Odor had a hit and Ramon Urias had three hits and an RBI.  Robinson Chirinos had a hit and two RBI, Urias and Chirinos each hit a double and Urias hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Mullins had a stolen base, Owins committed an error. 

In the bottom of the first Judge hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Trevino hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 2-0.  In the third Chirinos hit an RBI double and Hays hit a two-run single giving the Orioles a 3-2 lead.  Mountcastle grounded into a forceout and a run scored making it 4-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Judge hit a two-run homerun and the game was tied at four.  In the sixth Urias hit a solo homerun and the Orioles took back the lead at 5-4.  In the ninth Chirinos hit a sac fly and it was 6-4 Orioles which was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees win behind Aaron Judge power

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 5-4.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he pitched well and Michael King was great out of the pen.  The offense was led by Aaron Judge who had four hits. 

Taillon won his fourth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  King pitched three perfect innings with six strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman picked up his ninth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Spenser Watkins started for the Orioles and he pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and a strikeout.  Joey Krehbiel pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Dillon Tate pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with one being earned.  Tate also walked a batter and picked up his second loss of the season.  Cionel Perez pitched to one batter and struck him out and Logan Gillaspie pitched two innings giving up three hits and he struck out one. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Judge had four hits and three RBI and Anthony Rizzo had a hit and drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had a hit and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had two hits.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit and drew a walk, Judge, Rizzo, Donaldson and Torres each hit a double and Judge hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 0-9 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Torres committed an error.

In the first Judge hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Urias hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the third Judge hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Urias reached on an error and a run scored to tie the game at two.  Nevin hit a sac fly and the Orioles had a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Judge hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the sixth LeMahieu hit an RBI groundout and it was 4-3 Yankees.  In the seventh Torres reached on an error and the lead was pushed to 5-3.  In the bottom of the ninth McKenna hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 5-4 and that would be the final score of the game. 

The two teams will play the third of four on Wednesday night.  They will finish the series on Thursday afternoon.   

New York Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 6-2.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Josh Donaldson led the offense with three hits. 

Severino pitched six innings giving up a hit and a run with two walks and seven strikeouts and he picked up his third win of the season.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Chad Green pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

Kyle Bradish started for the Orioles and he pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  He lost his second game of the season.  Keegan Akin pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts and Felix Bautista pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

Donaldson had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Anthony Rizzo had a hit and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had two hits and drew two walks, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit and drew a walk and Jose Trevino had two hits and three RBI.  Aaron Hicks had a hit, Stanton hit a double and Trevino, Donaldson and Rizzo each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gallo committed an error. 

Trey Mancini drew a walk, Anthony Santander had two hits and two RBI and Ramon Urias drew a walk.  Roughned Odor had a hit, Santander hit two homeruns and the Orioles were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  McKenna had an outfield assist. 

In the third Stanton hit an RBI double giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Trevino hit a three-run homerun pushing the Yankees lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Santander hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1.  In the ninth Donaldson hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 5-1 and Rizzo hit a solo homerun making it 6-1.  In the bottom of the ninth Santander hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Tuesday night.

New York Mets lose a high scoring nail biter to the Seattle Mariners

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 8-7.  Carlos Carrasco started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Brandon Nimmo led the offense with a couple of hits and three RBI. 

Carrasco pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with a walk and two strikeouts.   Chasen Shreve took his first loss of the season pitching an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout, Drew Smith pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Joely Rodriguez pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts.  Colin Holderman pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Robbie Ray won his fourth game of the season pitching six innings giving up five hits and five runs with three walks and nine strikeouts.  Sergio Romo pitched a perfect inning, Paul Sewald pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Drew Steckenrider pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up four hits and two runs.  Diego Castillo pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and earned his second save of the season. 

Nimmo had two hits and three RBI, Starling Marte had a hit and Francisco Lindor had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Pete Alonso had a hit, Mark Canha drew a walk and J.D. Davis had a hit and two RBI.  Eduardo Escobar had a hit and drew a walk, Jeff McNeil had a hit and an RBI and Tomas Nido drew a walk.  Mazeika had a hit, Marte and Nimmo each hit a double and Davis, Nimmo and Escobar each hit a triple.  Lindor hit a homerun and the Mets were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Canha was caught stealing and Marte had an outfield assist. 

Adam Frazier had two hits, Ty France had two hits and J.P. Crawford had a hit.  Jesse Winker had two hits, Julio Rodriguez had four hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Mike Ford had a hit and two RBI.  Abraham Toro had two hits and an RBI, Steven Souza Jr. had a hit and Cal Raleigh had a hit and two RBI.  Toro, Frazier, France and Winker each hit a double and Rodriguez and Raleigh each hit a homerun.  The Mariners were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the bottom of the first Lindor hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Raleigh hit into a double play but a run scored tying the score at one.  In the fourth Ford hit a two-run single to give the Mariners a 3-1 lead.  Toro hit a sac fly and the lead was pushed to 4-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Davis hit a two-run triple to cut the lead to 4-3 and Nimmo hit a two-run triple to give the Mets a 5-4 lead.  In the sixth Rodriguez hit a solo homerun tying the game at five.  Raleigh hit a two-run homerun and the Mariners grabbed a 7-5 lead.  In the seventh Rodriguez hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 8-5 and in the bottom of the ninth McNeil hit an RBI single and Nimmo an RBI double cutting the lead to 8-7.  8-7 would be the final score.
