The New York Yankees get victory behind a dominant CC Sabathia

The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners by the score of 6-3 on Friday night. The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. CC Sabathia started the game for the Yankees and was really good. Kevin Millwood started for the Mariners and didn’t pitch bad. The bullpen wasn’t great for the Mariners. The Yankees offense was led by Eric Chavez, Robinson Cano and Russell Martin. The Mariners offense were led by Dustin Ackley. The Mariners only managed three hits but two of them were homeruns. 
Sabathia pitched a complete game to win his 11th game of the season. He gave up three runs on three hits. He walked one and struck out ten. Millwood pitched six innings giving up nine hits and four runs. He is 4-9 on the season. He walked one and struck out three. Matt Capps pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two runs and a walk, Oliver Perez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and Pryor pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

Curtis Granderson had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Derek Jeter had a hit and Cano had two hits and an RBI. Mark Teixeira had a hit, Raul Ibanez had a hit and an RBI and Nick Swisher had a hit and drew a walk. Chavez had two hits and two RBI, Ichiro Suzuki had a hit and Martin had two hits. Cano, Martin and Jeter each had a double. Chavez hit a homerun and the Yankees were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Martin had a stolen base.

Ackley had a hit and two RBI, Casper Wells had a hit and an RBI and Miguel Olivo had a hit. Brendan Ryan had a hit, Olivo hit a double and Wells and Ackley each hit a homerun. The Mariners were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base.

Granderson hit a two run single in the third inning to make it 2-0 Yankees. In the fourth Wells hit a solo homerun to make it a 2-1 game. Chavez hit a two run homerun in the sixth. Cano and Ibanez each hit an RBI single in the seventh inning to make it a 6-1 game. The Mariners scored two runs in the ninth on an Ackley two run homerun.

The Yankees record improved to 62-43 and the Mariners seven game winning streak was snapped. The Mariners record dropped to 50-58. The two teams will play game two of their three game series on Saturday afternoon.
